Non-Dungeon path to Twilight Assault?

Yep Jumping Puzzle pirates do count, I just did it there.

Thanks!

So now the question is, will there be something like this every day where we can pull it off outside of a dungeon?

It’s tied to the new patch which replaces the F/U path in TA by an Aetherblade path. You will find Aetherblades inside. It’s a lvl 80 path located in Twilight Arbor (Caledon Forest). Group up with 4 other players and enjoy!

I get that part, and thank you.

I was just wondering if there were other aetherblades out in the world that would count, and if the daily that was out there would consist of something like that, which could be completed ‘not’ inside that or any dungeon?

Or were you passively trying to say, “No, you have to do everything in that or one other rotating dungeon every day.”?

If it ‘can’ be done outside a dungeon, I just wanted to make sure I got a start today since I’d need 10.

Not intended to be a philosophical debate, just a fact finding mission as to whether it is possible to complete it without doing a dungeon.

I see there is a daily today that says I can kill 25 Aetherblade. Will there be something like that every day?

And where could I find some Aetherblade? I think there are some in that jumping puzzle. I know the Scarlet event still happens, and I ‘might’ be able to slowing shave off 25 from those (assuming no one else is participating), but I don’t see it advertised on the right any more? How do you know where/when it’s happening?

Thanks folks.

TP acting odd: Can't sell 'some' items.

Since I logged in this morning, I have been unable to sell Large Bone or Large Fang. Their could be others, but these are the two I have that won’t sell.

The problem manifests itself by not opening the right window (sell price, supply, demand, sell button) when you select the stack to sell.

I have been able to sell everything else except those so far. Tried moving them to other locations in my inventory. I’ve exited the game a few times hoping that would help, nothing.

Problem persists after getting the new game update as well.

Emhry Bay, if that matters.

Seems like it’s mostly the part where you click on something and then it populates the information on the right. Like it’s having a hard time querying supply/demand results for most items (oddly, some items pop up quickly, like mithril. Large Fang, Large Bone, others. Not so much.

Also keep in mind that ‘some’ days that “Boss Week: Here Be Dragons!” quest is ‘only’ if you participate in Teq, and some days it says “Teq or any world boss”.

So it’s possible when you were counting, you did, say ‘SB’ on a day that quest was a ‘Teq only’ and thought it had counted, but it didn’t that day.

@Lilith, yeah…4 exotic staffs and got an exotic shield. Carrion Tribal Shield of Rage.

Well bugs are always possible but you should keep in mind that there are many tridents which share the icon(and even actually model/skin) with staffs. There is also the occasional scepter that looks like one too.

I’m sure they were all staffs, but all things being equal, I suppose it’s more probable this is exactly what I did.

If I’m trying to get a Legend for Bifrost, and I decided to at least spend ‘some’ money in the mystic forge doing it, would it make more sense to keep saving rare staffs I get and melt those hoping for it, or should I just sell those and periodically ‘buy’ 4 exotic staffs to melt when I can afford it?

I ask because the very first time I combined 4 exotic staffs, I got an exotic ‘shield’, which I thought was not supposed to happen?

While I understand random, it’s been an awfully long streak for me without even an exotic staff coming out of combining 4 rares. I was wondering if it just made more sense to sell those at this point and only try with the exotic staffs (even though there is apparently a chance you get something out of it like a shield)?

Thanks.

I think some of this is out of evolution of the genre.

I remember back when UO was launched, my friends and I bought the big Origin guide (Prima guides, remember those? They might even be around still for some games, often times almost as fun perusing the materials as the games themselves). But within a month or two, the guide wasn’t much good because everything changed.

So fan sites started to crop up to handle the changing information, which means the developer or publisher didn’t have to worry about it so much. As time went on, some started just putting ‘community’ menus on their page to take you to a page with a list of some of the best community sites with databases and wikis and walk throughs. If the community will do it, why spend the money on it yourself?

Plus, the community really seems to ‘like’ to do it, and their product is usually really good. Dulfy stands out because of the quality and speed of new information. If you hunt around enough, you can find people with youtube videos and other small sites that have lots of great information as well, perhaps theory crafting on a single class.

I don’t think it’s ‘lazy’ so much, it’s pretty common in the genre to not spend too much time with it. It gives those people who like to spend a lot of time figuring it out for themselves something to do, and those of us (me included) who would rather follow along with a guide places to go for that as well. And it gives the community of people who love to create sites that center around guides for various game something to sink their teeth into as well.

[“Do you still get the daily rare box from Tequilla?” is too long a subject apparently, so I made it cave man style. “Yes. Doug can read.”]

The WEs all have that daily guaranteed rare box the first time you do the event. I was wondering if Tequilla still has that? I only did it once, and I think I had already done it that morning before the revamp patch, so I wouldn’t have gotten one the one time I tried Tequilla.

I was curious if it was still there, which might shed some light on whether they intend to keep that mechanic in place as part of the revamp.

Thanks.

I’m a fan of the guaranteed yellow from each area once a day. I mostly get greens and blues out of the rest, but sometimes there’s a windfall of rares, or an exotic.

My bigger concern with the revamping is that they will ‘take away’ the guaranteed box by attrition. If all the outdoor events move to these bigger things, there won’t be anything ‘between’ Champ farming and the ‘new’ world events to just ‘meander’ out to when the timer is ready and collect your yellow.

Which, doesn’t sound exciting, I suppose, but it serves a purpose for me. It’s a relatively easy way to at least get in and out with a ‘little’ bit of money and maybe a few ectos.

Champs give great money and other goodies, but ‘rarely’ rares for salvaging for ectos (at least in my experience). Now, if every zone gave a guaranteed rare box once per day off the first champ you killed, that’d be a nice substitute. Or if that’s too easy for it, put a 10 tier achievement out there (with some points to get, that would be great) of 10 champs each that resets every day. You get a ‘rare’ box after each 10, max 10 free rares a day. That would kinda take the place of the rare box from the revamped WEs?

I did Teq once. Not sure I’ll go back again soon. It looked really fun, but I haven’t gotten a handle on the whole (reward money – repair costs from dying) to get a handle on whether it makes sense. I got some sort of chest at the end, and sadly I didn’t see how much (if any) money was in it to make that decision.

What I do recall is not seeing a yellow chest, though admittedly I ‘might’ have done Tequilla that morning before the reset and not entitled to it? Is it still there?

Heh, if it is, what the heck did I just type.

I’m doing map completion with every character anyways because it’s a lot of fun for me, even after the 100th time. But yeah, I’d welcome a bit more of a final reward than just a Gift of Exploration and a Title.

I do this as well, or will, or hope to. My main and my Ranger did it. I recently got my Guardian to 80 and she’s at about 49% completion, and will probably do it because I enjoy the world. Two more in the wings after that, plus buying character slots some day to try out the rest of the classes.

World Events and... World Events

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: notebene.3190

notebene.3190

So (I love posts that start with ‘So…’) before yesterday, and not counting any Living World things that might be going on, or working on my monthly, or doing something ‘specific’, like leveling up a character, a typical ‘daily’ for me might consist of:

1. The Daily (+ extras to squeeze any achievement point I can get, as I don’t care for SAB and I’m never going to get that last diving point or all the jump puzzles)

2. Gathering (low on lower level mats; Ori and Anc in Frostgorge + any standard wood/ore I might need from there)

3. Maybe some Champ farming in Frostgorge (I just do the 4 up in the upper corner in rotation, as I can’t afford to waypoint that much and I seem to zone a little slow and get behind trying to keep up with everyone that way any how). I’ll try to do 10 rotations, which gets me 30 boxes and 10 bags. Some days I skip this b/c I just don’t have time.

4. World Events. I liked to do Teq, kitten, Claw, Maw, SB, Wurm and FE.

Now, I think the new Tequila is great. I tried it once. It was early on, haven’t been back. I died once, which was a bit expensive compared to the reward I got (iirc, I could be wrong as to what I got out of that bag). I think it’s going to be a lot of fun for a lot of people, and maybe me again some day, once it has settled in and I do some more reading and find my place in the fight and learn it.

What my concern is, is that it’s different. It’s no longer this thing that you can throw in with some other things and get done relatively quickly, and get some guaranteed yellows. If they redo all of these (or even the other 2 dragons), then that leaves me with 4, or ‘no’ old-style World Events to do, with that guaranteed yellow.

Why is that yellow so important?

Well, salvaging for ectos. I still do it. Maybe I’m a dinosaur, I’m not sure. I seem to get pretty good returns too. Far better than saving up money and actually ‘buying’ them on the AH. I ‘never’ buy something if I can find it. Buying is expensive.

With the guaranteed yellows, I’d sell the weapons (they fetch more money) and always salvage the armor for ectos.

The champ runs don’t seem to work all that well. I don’t get many yellows out of the boxes, certainly not guaranteed, and very subject to the RNG, and we all know how nasty he can be. I’m ‘lucky’ if I get one yellow out of those 40 boxes and bags for my 10 cycles in the upper corner of Fg.

And I guess that is my concern. Time + guaranteed yellows.

Are they going to change ‘all’ of them?

Will we get some sort of replacement events to use for our guaranteed daily yellows?

Are those just going to go away? On purpose?

I tried to think of it from the perspective of “well you can make so much money farming you can buy all the ectos you want”, but I’m not sure the math works out all too well on that, especially if you consider 2-3 ectos you get from salvaging (which seems to happen a lot). Of course, I haven’t actually ‘done’ the math, this is just ‘math feeling’, if you will.

Or, am I just crazy and it’s not a problem because of (_______) and (_______).

Oh, and I don’t do dungeons and fractals. That won’t change, until I need my dungeons things from Arah for my Legendary (if I ever get my precursor), then I’ll suck it up, but that’s it.

Thanks.

Just started getting this now.

Did my usual transport through the Mist place on my way to LA, made it into LA. Teleported up to the bank area. Started to take out some items to do 5 tries at clovers in the mystic forge. Got one stack of items out and crashed.

As I try to log back in, the character I crashed on is now ‘back’ in the Mist place (in her PvP Mist garb), so a few minute flashback, and I get this error trying to login after getting the appropriate zone loading screen.

I thought maybe that character was messed up, and tried another character in Metrica Province, same thing, loading screen to this error.

Do you run any other programs concurrently with GW2?

What is you game screen resolution and monitor’s native resolution?

Are you running the default presets on you GFX settings?

Well, to preface, nothing has changed about how I run things. I’ve been running all the following for the past year before my out of memory problems started. The only variable (other than possibly my hardware is failing) is recent changes to GW2:

1. I have 3 instances of Chrome up, each with several tabs. Takes up a lot of memory.

2. I have the game up.

3. Lots of other services, I’m sure.

I keep my nVidia settings all default. ‘Let application decide’. I don’t use profiles or play around with tweaking tools.

I have 12 gig of ram, currently 9 is used up, with 3 free, and I keep getting the ‘low memory’ Windows pop up. I hit cancel on them, but eventually it’ll kick me out of the game this morning.

The game itself is using over 2 gig of memory. It’ll be over 2.5 when it finally dies. It’s like it’s not giving it back when it can? About 44% of the CPU time.

My video settings in the game are as I’ve described, and I’ve been using them since day 1.

Out of memory error

in Account & Technical Support

Posted by: notebene.3190

notebene.3190

I’d like to chime in here. I have a machine that allows me to run everything fully maxed out too, and I too reliably run into the oom crash. This problem would be much more present if more people had such highend machines. I can reproduce the error 100 %. Just join a mass event like a dragon fight or previously the fight against Scarlet. Once the zerg reaches a critical mass, the client runs into the memory wall. Occasionally it even happens in lions arch, if too many people hang around bank and merchant there. I’d very much like an option to turn culling back on. That would reliably prevent the crash. Though the ultimate solution would be a 64 bit client.

I agree. I’m starting to get this now as well. I ‘may’ have started happening with the WvW culling, but by then, I wasn’t playing WvW as much any more. I began noticing it since the last big patch that added the culling fix to the rest of the world.

I never had issues before. 12 gig of ram. nVidia GTX 580 with 1.5mg DDR5. Intel Core i7 920. 320.49 drivers.

I’m using the auto-detect settings for video options in the game, which basically cranks everything up except the super sampling.

I heard u can unsoulbound it by transmuting anyone knows how?

Yes, but that trick is about the skin, not the stats. You transmute it to some white item (using the ‘skin’ of the nice item you want to ‘save’ and the stats of the white item) and it’s then account bound, which you can then use as is on another character, or transmute it (using it as a skin) on a better item on that character.

If you are hoping to save those ascended stats and transfer it to another character, that won’t work, I believe.

Additionally, you have the added problem of it being a back piece, which you (sadly and inexplicably) can’t just go buy a white item of at ‘Timmy the Armorer’.

what about explorer weps on the TP what will their stats become

I was just about to post this. There might be some items that we threw up at market, say, a week or two ago, and then someone under cut those items, and we still have them out there, waiting for supply and market to shift and hopefully our items would get picked up, business as usual.

The only problem will be items that are sitting out there now that have MF on it. One of two things will happen. Either those items will be ‘more’ valuable because they’ll also become ‘double-click and make them whatever you want’ items, or they will become worthless.

If the former, no harm, no foul. We will get what we put them up for, that’s great.

If they become worthless and no one buys them? Well, I’m out the 5% for one. Secondly, they ‘could’ have been used to salvage for a shot at a new account MF increasing item. That would be a bummer.

Is Guild Wars really Innovative?

I don’t think it was ‘largely’ innovative, but it was ‘hugely’ evolutionary. Just as WoW took a lot of pieces from it’s predecessors and became a staple, I think there are things in GW2 that took from it’s predecessors that in my opinion ‘should’ become a staple moving forward.

The biggest thing for me, and it can be lumped into one big category, is the removing of competitive interaction with the environment which invariably was used from game to game through the years as a griefing tool, or at the very least, a ‘mini game’ of sorts for people who derive their sense of accomplishment as directly proportional to someone else’s loss.

So that was a mouthful, and warrants a ‘what the heck?’ without some context, I suppose.

I’m talking about things like individual resource nodes. There’s no node stealing. There’s no mob stealing. If you tap something once, you get credit, as does anyone else. This last one is super important because, other than in dungeons and other special instances, the concept of a ‘party’ can go the way of the dinosaurs. I suppose it’s still useful if you need to follow 4 other blue dots around on the screen, it still has a mechanical usefulness from that purpose as well. But ultimately it’s not important with respect to adventuring in the world and consuming content together. I love this.

I haven’t in the past year felt compelled to be angry that someone beat me to some ore. That someone ‘moved in’ where I was farming and started ‘stealing’ my mobs. That someone was out damaging me and I wasn’t getting any loot.

Then you throw in something like the downed state (which some people hate, but I love), it’s another neat social tool.

I don’t party hardly at all in this game, but I have had far more social experiences with strangers in the past year than I ever had in any preceding game.

I think every game moving forward should have these types of mechanics. It’s why I like to think of GW2 as a largely ‘evolutionary’ game vs innovative or revolutionary.
