Where are there some good spots to get the 20 for Homeland Support in Ascalon? Any place that has chains or fairly frequent starts in a ‘relatively’ short area? Maybe newbie areas, maybe putting together a chain of 3-4 that cycle together nicely?

Plush Griffon’s swimming ability was removed because he was deemed to powerful while swimming in WvW and sPvP and the keg brawl (Plush was awesome in keg brawl)!

Now, for those of us who built it at Christmas time and those of us (me) who ‘paid real money’ for him get to spend (incoming hyperbole) an extra 36 hours every day re-conjuring him every time we get out of the water! Sweet!

I haven’t quite figured out if an intern needed something to do, or someone ‘literally’ complained that their play experience was being threatened or their ‘immersion broken’ because he glided or ran in place while swimming.

I’m going to go with champ farming at Claw so it takes 3.5 days to complete it. New champion rewarding will make this worse (unless they plan on removing the champs from that event, which I hope they do and just replace them with really hard veterans).

And yes, that is a mechanic problem. If you build it (or build it wrong), they will come. Wasn’t there a problem like this with one of the temples? Where Skippington McVonwhitingthorpe III figured out how to not let it complete properly so they could farm?

Why would you get anything “for representing” on Claw? (unless that finished your daily, of course, but you did not said that). Remember, for “support” event achievements only Krytan (for kiel) and Ascalon (for Evon) events count. Claw is Shiverpeak.

Well some really nice folks from TOAD helped me get 1 & 2, so thank you to them again!

And I think I’ll sit out 3 & 4 and hope I can piece together enough of the other stuff to at least get Ellen’s achievement done. Not sure I have the stamina to do another 1 & 2 for the other guy.

I can’t. I barely did it with 2 others. We wiped on the 2nd one. I may sit this 2 weeks out. I don’t see any way I can get 6 of anything without doing at least these first 2.

There are many emotes that we could do with, especially with animations. I wouldn’t be opposed if they started making them and selling them as packs in the gem store.

Someone was playing a flute next to me today, and they were ‘really’ good, and wanted to /clap or /applaud them, but couldn’t. Just /cheer.

I bought/built my set a few weeks ago. I’m going to be bummed, but it’s really not ‘that’ big of a deal. I’ll be a little sad about the necklace and 2 rings I’ve bought to date, but oh well. It might be nice to have those laurels back to spend on other things, but I don’t expect anything, nor would I care if I got anything out of my special exotic set.

What I’d ‘really’ like is proper way for me to change the ‘look’ of whatever armor I end up wearing ‘on the fly’, and I’m sad to not see anything about that in the long blog post. So for the time being, my new MF set had a new look I hadn’t done before, and I’ll just keep the chest/legs/boots combo (like I do 3 other pieces that is another different look), and use Crystals to, yet again, merge those into whatever set I settle on.

But then there’s the whole new ascended gear. And if I want my ‘3 looks’, I’ll need to make 2 more chest, legs, shoes of the same type, just to have different looks, and carry them in my bag?

I’m running around Queensdale fighting centaurs and other things that drop bags with 164% MF, and I’m not getting anything. I’ve run the sprint about 70 times with no back piece.

MF just doesn’t work for me. I always get the RNG rolls that allow you folks to get your good rolls and say, “MF is great!”

Sure hope I get a back before it’s over. I’m not going to spend gold on it like I did the wings. I don’t think I like it enough to eat into my ‘saving for legendary’ fund. If I get it, I get it.

But I sure don’t seem to get kites or scraps or back pieces. And don’t get me started on my MF and T6 materials.

I sure hope I can get that. So far the flower has been my favorite back piece, and it would be nice to have one in another color. I thought I’d like my holographic wings more, but after (sadly) spending around 7g for them, I find I don’t wear them much. I’d love a wind back piece, but I’m not going to spend money on it this time. I think I learned my ‘ooo shiney lesson’.

Hope it’s not too hard to get that flower.

Kiel may be nice cause of the reduced waypoint cost, but then again the cost as it is never really bothered me and i hate the aetherblade dungeon.
Then again Evon promises reduced costs for keys, which i don’t care about either, but at least he promises a better dungeon for the mists
It’s weird though that we get to decide. Lions Arch isn’t exactly democratical. The new book clearly states that to be a council member you
- need to be a captain
- have to pay a certain amount of money to the council
- be accepted by the council
Evon has money, Kiel is a captain, but neither have what it takes to become a member
Anyway that’s just me overanalyzing stuff based on the book

I think all skins should just be unlockable like the achievement ones. I want the cosmetic progression I was promised and I’m just not seeing it. The zephyr skins make for a great start but this needs to become bigger.

Yeah, I’m having a big problem now with items vs looks.

I have 2 sets of armor. One that I wear when people are counting on me and my MF set.

My MF set has a nice, new look. I just made it.

My real set has an old look I really like. I also have 3 more pieces (boots/chest/legs) that I can swap in (with the exact same stats) to produce a different look.

But now I’ve hit this wall and see what the problem is.

The new look on my MF set is kinda neat, and sometimes I’d like to look like that when I’m in a serious situation. Only way I can do that is build an entirely new set.

Or maybe I want to be MF’n, but look like one of the other two looks that are on my serious gear.

And honestly, I might want to change my look every day. Heck, every hour! Or a ‘look per zone’, if I so choose!

The current system was designed around us buying transmutation stuff. And that’s fine, to an extent. They must have enough data now that suggests we aren’t building 10 sets of real armor with Crystals to solve the problem. That many of us are possibly choosing not to solve the problem in the hopes that something is done.

I don’t see why we can’t just use Crystals to memorize a piece’s look to a wardrobe, without destroying the piece. I don’t even really care if it’s character specific, like dyes. That would still promote us having to buy Crystals for something (and we’d still need transmutation to merge items and runes/sigils between items).

I just want to get to a point where I can change my look willy nilly without having to burn a Crystal ‘and’ spend a lot of in game gold buying items, ‘and’ spending a lot of money buying more bag space to hold it all. Isn’t there a theoretical limit to the bag space anyways?

I sure hope this new achievement system is a precursor to solving that problem for us in this respect.

I’m fine with it as long as there is a way to turn it off.

If you post for a group and ask to inspect people (lfg could add one of those requirement icons for it, maybe a little eye), then I wouldn’t join that group (just as I don’t join groups that specifically say experienced only.

And you are perfectly within your rights not to take me without inspection. I’d like to know that’s a requirement before joining your group, just like I’d like to know if it’s required to have 3 computer screens a Jonny Rocket Space Commander 3D Helmet with Ventrilospeak Dubly Surround Sound and a love for the military industrial complex to join your guild.

So…sure, it’s a super idea, as long as there is an opt out.

I’m also perfectly happy to tell you what I am. And try to explain how I play. And what I’m wearing. I don’t use my MF gear in dungeons, if that’s what you are worried about. I don’t know if my build is the ‘right’ build, but it works for me. I’m sure I have some odd mixes of stats on some of my equipment, but it works for me.

I don’t believe numbers will tell you anything about me or how I play or whether I can help you, except to say if you do believe that, then I bet I can’t or don’t really want to help you just the same. We’re just not in the same book, let alone the same page.

Off topic but inspired by this post…Wouldn’t it be cool if they introduced weapons that actually changed the animation or spell effects of your abilities? Maybe too much work or will affect WvW or something, but I think they would be popular.

The reason I’m asking them to change is because when you draw the staff it pops a so beautiful yellowish glow, and it’s a shame it happens only when drawing the weapon, it doesn’t need to stay glowing strong permanently while in fight but when casting skills it would be very cool!

I believe you didn’t get me, it would glow only when casting skills… it can’t distract if it does a quick glow, also, there are a LOT OF staves without any effect in-game already.

I really like how it shrinks down small when it’s sheathed too, and then grows when you go into fighting mode. I wish the top part folded up even more, to be honest.

Well, casual in ‘style’, not hours played. I play a ‘lot’, I just don’t like dungeons or the mentality. Never have; never will.

I guess I don’t understand why we’re still on the whole ‘dungeon’ paradigm being the only path to acquiring wealth. That seems so…‘so’.

I just thought it would be nice to have other avenues. It doesn’t have to be starter areas. Make it scale. And don’t make it ‘only’ Orr, I hate that place. Frostgorge is nice. And how about some more ‘Frostgorge-like’ zones, that maybe look a lot like Queensdale. I like how that looks. The sun makes my character look nice. Hills. Bandits. Townfolk. Farms.

Why must the measure of money be ‘the dungeon’? I’ve done a few dungeons in this game. I don’t particularly care for it. I did my first fractal to get an achievement towards the node in my home (b/c I do like crafting), and that was fine and all, but I’m not likely to go again. I just don’t care for the dynamic. I like the organic social experiences of DEs, people milling around Living Story, etc.

I don’t see why having 4 friends, or a long running guild across several games since World of Pong, or being in virtual weekend warrior mode is still the ‘success’ measuring stick that is monetarily rewarded.

I just saw how much they were giving away every 7 minutes in the race for two weeks and was wondering why they didn’t consider figuring a way to spread that around more so I stop seeing ‘CoF P1’ everywhere.

But that’s ok, I’m sure I’m wrong. I shalt repent.

Yeah that’s a bummer and I don’t really understand it since it is a crafting skill. I don’t have a L80 and my crafting alts are a long way from it. Of course by the time I make my 1 charged crystal a day I’ll probably be 80 by the time I have enough to make anything anyway. By 80 I mean 80 years old not L80.

I won’t. I don’t play them for now. My brain can barely handle keeping my 80 Elementalist (main) and Ranger straight. When I play the other characters in combat, or try to plan for them, I get overwhelmed and confused. So for now, I’m happy just leaving them sit.

But they all have crafts on them, because I don’t run P1 of that dungeon every 5 minutes or have a million dollars and 4g is a lot for me to go flipping skills willy nilly, so I put them on alts.

I’d like to think I’ll be 80 some day. That’s doubtful.

Please keep in mind. Not only do you have to have 400 crafting in the respective craft on the character with the skill you ‘hope’ to make an item on…

The best I can figure, this is in an attempt to balance the world, like making the Plush Griffon forget how to swim (/shrug).

What would be wrong with bumping up DE rewards and daily/monthly monetary rewards to be more in line with that?

I’d rather give people that don’t like it a frequency slider, with far left (right?) being none. Like the music interval.

There are ways to address it and make everyone happy, I think.

Now that we have Zenith, it seems like a no brainer.

Honestly, I don’t care if it’s per character. I also don’t care if you figure out another way to make me pay more money, so long is it isn’t any ‘more’ money than I’m having to pay now, I guess.

But at the end of the day, I have 2 sets of armor. Real armor and Magic armor. I can see having a 3rd WvW or PvP set as well (for some people). That should be all we’re carrying around.

Now, what do I want my armor to look like today? For the next hour? Any set? ‘That’ is why we need the wardrobe. Once I know a look, I should be able to put it on anything. Fine, make me burn a Crystal to learn it. Even if it’s lower level, require a Crystal to mem it for unlimited reuse. Bam, you still get your money.

I have 2 full sets of armor and a 3-piece set (chest/legs/boots) that I use. But now I want to switch looks. My MF gear has a nice look, but sometimes I want to be wearing my MF gear but ‘look’ like the other gear.

We need to separate that out some how.

SoundCloud isn’t exactly a music player for driving around or mixing with other game tracks and such (big fan of music for all the FunCom games as well, going back to AO).

I wouldn’t mind it so much if:

a) The philosophy was explained. Even if I don’t agree with it, I’d love to hear why they think it needs to be that way. Free market, ’mer’ca, competition, NASCAR, Gekko, just lay it out and we can choose “rolls eyes / thumps important book” sides. You know, like “Why we had to make the Plush Griffon forget how to swim because he was overpowered.” (I joined the ‘rolls eyes’ team on that one!)

b) It is conveyed more clearly. This is the first time I’ve had 400 recipes I couldn’t learn. I just went out to the TP and bought ‘all’ of them, now I have a few dozen sitting in bags, and they may never get used, because I don’t know if I want to take the time to level those characters up or have the money to spend on decent gear for them as I’m trying to save up for a Bifrost on my main.

People did this for me (not specifically, though I happened to be the first person in one of the races that didn’t have it yet) late last night on Emhry. I made sure to wait in the next race before crossing while our facilitator made sure everyone had crossed. I came in last, but that’s perfectly fine with me. I got my completion and chest.

And your characters that have 400 crafting since…forever, also have to be 80th level to memorize the finished good patterns (armor/weapons/jewelry).

I don’t think they need to be 80, because I was able to learn them high 70s (I’m 80 now on my ele).

While the two under 80 characters I have (with 400 crafting) could learn the component piece, neither of them can mem the finished goods recipes because they have an 80th level requirement on them.

I haven’t gotten to making one yet, and he’s level 80 now, i thought you were talking about learning the recipe.

I am. I can’t learn a recipe to make, say, a knife (so I might give that knife to my Elementalist) on my 49th level Guardian. There is a level requirement to learn the recipe, even though I have a 400 crafting ability.

I could, however, learn the inscription recipe that goes with it.

I searched on ‘speed’, and nothing came up.

I was curious as to what a Guardians speed options are, besides ‘Retreat!’? Any other actives or passives? How do Guardians get around, as it were?
