Update: I noticed on my Elementalist that her Princess Doll was still swimming with her. I tried my Norn warrior who has a little brown bear, and that still swims.
Now, I only have 3 pets, but the one the doesn’t seem to work any more is the plushy griffon of those 3. Not sure how many other pets it effects.
Update 2: And tried putting that pet on another character, and it still doesn’t work, so it’s not the character.
When you enter the water, they disappear, and you have to conjure them again when you get out of the water.
They used to swim with us.
I don’t see anything in the patch notes about it.
If you go to the waypoint between the 2 ports (to the south a bit) you will see the consortium in construction, they’ve been adding more and more since the start of this entire event, some of them can be spoken to btw.
Oh I didn’t know that. I have a hard time there, and didn’t want to venture too far away from the relatively safe areas. I’ll have to try to sneak over there.
I tried Neverwinter for about 5 minutes. Wasn’t terribly aesthetically pleasing. I think I made it a few hundred feet.
But yes, most people are higher level. I think there are some servers, which you can guest on (no WvW) that have some lower level characters, maybe TC? You’d have to ask around.
There’s a great thread in PHP that aims to hook people up to play. You can’t miss it, it has a billion replies.
Edit: And at least on Emhry Bay, there’s always lots of people in Queensdale, but at 17, you are close to leaving there. Sadly there aren’t a lot of big ‘chest’ events in the 15-25 areas. That would go a long way to helping repopulate those areas.
It’s not quite the end…
Ok, fair enough. Thanks
So, in the last segment of the story, there was mention of them making new homes in Southsun Cove? I went there and looked around, didn’t see anything?
I’m not seeing any ‘more’ information on that this time? Was that all just for lore, or is there something involving Southsun related to the FnF that I’m not getting?
You can keep using it until you buy something. The vendor just stays for 5 minutes in the world.
Heh, thanks.
I was just coming back to my post to ask, what does: “Reusable until exchanged” mean.
Now I know.
So that covers everything except the question about how ‘long’ it will function for, if I choose to save it.
So, reading that I only have 5 minutes to decide, and not knowing ‘anything’ about what I get to choose from (though I see Dulfy has a screenshot of ‘one’ of them, most likely heavy?), could anyone answer some questions about them?
1) Could anyone post any screenshots of the different kinds? Even if preview?
2) Are the items just skins, or are they Exotic? That might impact whether or not I use them on one of my 80s or my main, or save the ticket for an Alt. If they are actual armor, what are the stats?
3) And speaking of ‘saving for an alt’, can I just bank the ticket and it will work ‘forever’? Or must I ‘use’ the ticket before 5/12?
TIA
i didnt get a gauntlet ticket Oo, i got abit of silver and about 84k exp if i remember correctly, but there were no items in the reward for completing it. are you sure you didnt confuse it with one of the achievements? becouse the achievement sais you will be awarded with that ticket if you complete it.
I got my ticket after completing the meta achievement. For the dungeon itself, there was experience, karma, some silver. I don’t recall how much. I got a picture or painting of a woman, not really sure what to do with that yet.
Reluctant to use my ticket yet without seeing what they all look like and knowing more about it. Are they just skins, or are they already Exotic and have stats? If they are Exotic, I might save it for an alt.
I’m not a big dungeon runner by any stretch of the imagination, and decided I’d ‘suck it up’ so I could complete the journey. It’s ‘really’ a lot of fun. Scary, but fun. I think we did it with only 4 people? For some reason they vote kicked someone, I’m not entirely sure why. But we never got a 5th and soldiered on.
A really good time.
If this is not passive aggressively rhetorical, it is most likely a Ranger (without having adequate context in which you are hearing/seeing it to come to another conclusion). Other games use that word to refer to “the one who mostly uses a bow and maybe has a pet too” class.
I’d like a version without the hoes. If you happen to be looking for ways to make new skins for super cheap that some people might like.
All the responses you are getting are actually really helpful, but at the same time, they serve to reinforce your point.
They’re all right. It’s super easy to just have 3 other characters help you. You can pick them willy-nilly with no intention of ever playing them (though if you do, and don’t like what you pick, you can’t undo it down the road, which is another problem we won’t get into). They craft up the other 6 for you, get lots of experience and levels without ever having to go adventure or do hearts or kill a single thing. Win, win, win, win (did I miss a win)?
Which then circles right back around to: why? If it’s so easy to just do that, then why bother to make people do that? The only reason I can think of is there’s something to making you make alts that they feel will psychologically make you change your mind and run them down the road, and for every alt, more possibility for you to spend more on gems to buy things like extra bag slots, bank slots, etc.
So I guess at the end of the day it’s all sadly like everything else. We pay for our free TV, yet there’s still commercials, which we sometimes can’t fast forward through, even though we have no intention of buying what they are selling, and if we “totally” want to circumvent that, then we watch old episodes on Netflix, which still costs a little money each month to see our free TV…oh, or if you want to watch CBS, then $2/episode on iTunes (your 40 silver).
Or you make the alts. :\
Does seem a bit strange.
It is not too late for WvW. I did that and it took about 3 hours running after a zerg.
I would agree with this. Now, I suppose it depends on your server situation, but there has to be ‘some’ time of day where this should be possible. My experience was about the same amount of time too.
This could be totally wrong, but I don’t ‘think’ what happened before was that they got ‘reset’. I think what happened before is they released the patch that started rewarding laurels a few hours before the daily reset, so anyone who hadn’t finished their daily yet, got to finish up and get a ‘bonus’ laurel (if you will), while anyone who had already finished their daily didn’t get to take advantage of that.
But now 90 days, 180 days, a year later…I’m not really sure how much that 1 means. I get to transform myself into a cat an hour before someone else? Maybe.
But I don’t recall them ever wiping progress on a patch day. Certainly not as something as mitigating as the monthly is to a lot of people at this point.
Well, I’ve been playing awhile, but recently wanted to try a warrior, and was having a bit of a hard time, as I was used to running ranged characters. I have all the dodging mechanics down even with them, but was having a hard time still.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/warrior/New-to-Warrior-1/first#post1796976
I followed this post, and a few above it recommending starting with sword/horn + rifle combo, and it’s starting to get a lot easier. I’m starting to get into playing with 2 one handed axes, and some other weapons (actually enjoy the 2H hammer more than the 2H sword as far as 2H goes).
I think the key early on is using that regen signet and getting the defenses up. Easy (and cheap) enough to respec down the road as you get your sea legs. I’m only 16 myself, but plugging away at it.
…anyone knows anyone who knows someone over at GuildWarsTemple that saw Ferris pass out at 31 Flavors last night?
Or…could maybe kick their site in the tires so we can update the timers?
It’s been a day, and many of the timers can’t be updated during, after, vote down, vote up.
I think their new anti-troll measures trolled themselves.
Donkey.
Edit: Well, they seem to be working again this morning at least. So nevermind.
(edited by notebene.3190)
The only thing the math ignores is people like me who buy $10 worth of gems each month and am always looking for something fun to spend it on. I bought 4 extra bag slots for 4 different characters, 2 extra bank bag slots, a witch outfit last fall, 1 stack of Fine (Crystal) Trans stones, a sleeveless hoody for my main, and a mining pick for my main.
Conversely, as someone who doesn’t do dungeons, fractals, raids or other group activities which seem to be key for making in game money, that 26 gold is worth way more to me than…well, 26 gold.
So it’s all relative, and not the sibling kind.
i tried to transmute my t3 sylvari to a white item and give it to my human, it does not work now,
because even if it states that it is white and account bound, the “Sylvari race” only tab is still there
Unfortunate, though expected, but I’m sure we all appreciate the test and report. Thank you.
The pick is more of a collector’s item than something you would buy to get value out of. Eventually, new, higher level nodes will be added, so it’s only a matter of time before the pick becomes obsolete, assuming you stick to current content.
I doubt that. They’d probably bump of the effective quality of it if they added higher level nodes.
Not even sure they’d have to adjust it. The mouse over in the store specifically has a reference to ‘even Orichi’, like that’s all the further they thought about it, but the mouse-over for the actual item just says: “Used to mine all metals. Unlimited use. Soulbound.”
I hope they change their minds down the road and make it account bound and adjust existing items accordingly, but I’m fine with it the way it is too.
It sure does not seem like it’s working. It would be nice if someone could validate that it’s still working. I don’t notice any speed change with 5+ air when I move from an air attunement to one of the other attunements.
I suppose I could be crazy, but it would be sure nice if someone would take a look.
That and $10 for a perma pick is pretty stupid…..Ori pick axes are cheap as hell.
Well, it depends on how you play, honestly.
I play a ‘lot’, yet compared to a lot of people, I probably don’t have all that much money, and the money I do have was acquired from a ‘few’ lucky drops at dragon chests that sold on the trade post.
I don’t play fractals or dungeons, so the money I get is whatever you can get out in the world. I’m a crafter and pack rat, so I only sell materials once I hit 250 crafted and raw and my collectibles is full.
On the other hand, I buy $10 worth of gems every month, like clockwork, on the 20th. I decided when this game came out that it was worth spending $10/mo to support it. So I buy the occassional sleeveless shirt, witch outfit, transmutation crystals, extra bags, etc.
So it just kinda depends.
This is a ‘little’ bit of a bummer, for sure, no reason they couldn’t be like pets, and maybe as time goes on and they introduce the axe and sickle they will change it, but I went ahead and got it. I put it on what I consider my ‘main’, even though the smart choice might have been the Ranger, as she has a much easier time gathering. But oh well. My main gets all the ascended stuff as well, and my Ranger doesn’t too.
I don’t know if this will help but this is what I did you get my achievements:
- complete map
- go in wiki and look at the map pages and look for areas with no map completion objects (ie no poi, no vista, no sp etc )
- those might be the ones you are missingI did it, no luck, or im really blind or i have all the areas, but im still at 174/175.
If you have 100% of the POIs, then it’s a white named area. You must be glancing right over the name as you alt-tab back and forth between the wiki map and your map comparing the white named places.
I can’t see your map, otherwise I’d offer to do it for you.
Having said that, if you want to send me a tell if you see me playing and want to scroll around and compare white named areas on the map until we find the one that you don’t have, I’d be happy to.
So try this. If you have Elemental Attunement, you can’t test moving ‘into’ air, because that’s cheating since we get the swiftness for a few seconds.
But after that fades, try running along attuned to air (if you have at least 5 points of air), in theory, moving along 10% faster, and then flip to water.
I sure don’t feel like I slowed down.
Thanks folks.
Yeah, I know they don’t stack, and it wasn’t really a min/max question or comparing speed buffs and what is more effective than something else (good, bad or indifferent, I have 10 in air because I like the 20% damage increase on things below 33% health).
It was more just a question of whether by itself, that particular skill was even still working anymore, as it doesn’t seem to be giving me the little 10% boost.
Sometimes I’m super lazy and am content to just run along without having to time cycle my Glyph and Windborne (I’m a staff elementalist by nature). When I am feeling lazy, I still make sure I’m in air, and was wondering if I was at least getting my 10% anymore, that was all.
Doesn’t ‘feel’ like it, but might just be hard to tell at 10%.
I saw a human recently with Sylvari cultural armour. It definitely was not TA armour and it looked so nice that I have been wondering how to do it since then.
I am not sure if the transmute to white trick will work and I am too cheap to try it out. ( ah I see it doesn’t) But clearly it can be done- I just don’t know how.
If you see them again, see if you can get a picture. Or better yet, if they are willing to pose for a front/right/back/left set.
If you find a thread that belongs somewhere else, just flag it and explain that it’s not in the right spot. I do it all the time and the threads get moved around. With the number of posts on the forums, I think the moderators appreciate the help of the players in identifying stuff that is potentially out of place.
I do all the time, I was just extra frustrated today because they usually get stomped on much quicker.
Because Players Helping Players is starting to see threads formatted like this, and they aren’t being squished fast enough (and belong in general):
Subject: Read this if you are thinking of coming back.
I hope this helps someone else.
[long passive aggressive screed about why I hate/love the game]
And maybe knowing that will help you out.
Is it still working? After my Elemental Attunement wears off switching to Air, I don’t feel like I’m moving 10% faster any more? Nor do I feel like I’m slowing down when I switch out of Air to something else? Granted, 10% isn’t much, but it seemed like I noticed it more?
I don’t think your location matters for resetting the chests. I have been doing the jumping puzzle in Lion’s Arch (in the mideast) for the daily achievements, and I keep logging back on the next day to find the chest reset and lootable when I load into the end of the puzzle.
This is correct. One time I did the EB puzzle and was just a ‘little’ bit early and while I was sitting around talking to people it turned lootable within 10 minutes.
Yeah, those guides are great. I was trying to follow them, though knowing that I had no bomb and couldn’t get everything on the first pass seemed a bit out of order to me.
I kinda figured as much, on not being able to get help with it, but figured I’d ask. I’m perfectly capable of doing it, and have the time, there’s just something about it that is giving me a hard time motivation wise. I get somewhere in the middle of the 2nd zone and just…go do something else.
I figured out a ‘long’ time ago that not all content was for me. I recognized long ago that dungeons and raids and super-competitive team/solo PvP (I love things like RvR and WvW and Wintergrasp), and more recently in this game, timed jumping puzzles, just aren’t my thing.
I now have to realize that there are things that ‘totally’ seem like they’d be up my alley are maybe just…not.
Ok thanks folks. I thought I had read that they would ‘adjust’ the Legendary weapons to be the same as ascended, much as the existing Legendaries you get now are the same as Exotic. But either way, my understanding, whether right or wrong is moot.
If they do happen to bump it up, it’ll ‘still’ be the stats I “don’t” want, and I’ll have to go find an Ascended weapon that has the stats that I ‘do’ want to put the skin on, is that right? So like Vox said: Is it really worth sitting on for ‘one’ little Trans Crystal? Probably not.
That is exactly what I’ve been wondering.
When you transmute an item you’re technically creating a completely new one from two existing ones. The name is carried over from whichever skin you keep (usually, I’ve noticed it doesn’t always work with the HoM skins) but everything else about the item comes with the stats. So technically when you transmute a legendary skin onto an exotic what you’ve got at the end is still an exotic and not a legendary. But with a tag saying ‘transmuted’ added.
I don’t know enough about how the item system works from the programming/database side to know if it’s even possible for Anet to identify what skin a transmuted item has, so it might not be possible for them to upgrade these items, even if they want to.
As far as I know Anet haven’t said anything about how it will work yet. I’m not sure if they’ve even given it much thought or if they’re leaving it until they actually start planning to add Ascended weapons. (Or maybe they’re trying to work out if it’s possible before they say anything.)
So yeah, all up in the air at the moment. Personally I think people who transmute legendaries are taking a big risk and if I get one before Ascended weapons come out I don’t think I’d take that chance (I’m not a min/maxer so it doesn’t matter that much to me anyway), but ultimately it’s up to them. At least the ones who read the forum regularly should know the risk they’re taking.
Not that big of a risk. At worse you need to get another ascended weapon plus another crystal. Still easier than getting a legendary. Identifying the items would be trivial. That information is stored in their database, it is read every time you load a character.
But what if getting an Ascended weapon is rather difficult, relative to my play style? If I leave the Legendary weapon as is, it would get bumped to Ascended status (presumably), and I wouldn’t need to go get an Ascended weapon, I’ve done my work, no?
But if I used it as a skin on an Exotic, and it’s lost it’s qualification for insta-upgrade (again, assuming that’s what they do), then as you say, I would have to get an Ascended first to transmute it on, which if they start out only being available in the fractals, for example, I would never be able to get.
So that would be a bit unfortunate. I guess if I do happen to get a Legendary built before all this happens, I’ll just put it in the bank for awhile.
I guess if I happen to pull it off, I’ll just leave it as is for the time being as well. Carry it around for show and tell and then use my other staff when I have to do something.
I’d be hard pressed to make up for that much condition in armor, because not only do I have the big 179 number, I also have that Sigil that stacks up to 25, so I really tied most of it up in the weapon, which seemed to make sense to me in the event I wanted to go with a weapon and build that wasn’t so condition heavy, I wouldn’t be swapping my armor out.
Thanks for the discussion and feedback. Much to think about.
So maybe just buy the 8 obsidian shards?
I was wondering if anyone would be willing to take me on an SAB tour to get the ultimate achievement? Baby mode or however, I’m a pretty decent jump. I’m usually really good with following guides (thank you as always, Dulfy!), but for some reason am ‘really’ having a hard time pushing through this, and would really like to finish the achievement, but can’t keep myself motivated to push through it.
I’d ask this in the SAB forum, but I didn’t want to invade their space with my question because it comes from a place of ‘not-exactly-pro-SAB’ feelings, and ultimately is a question about far more general and useful things than SAB things.
I have 8 baubel-baubels, and like 123 of the smaller ones. I don’t anticipate getting any more of them. I see I can buy a few ‘general’ items that might be more useful to me out in the world, especially since I’m starting to get delusions of a Legendary.
What would be the most bang for my buck, so to speak?
I was thinking of just spending my 8 on Obsidian Shards or Crystals. And granted, it’s only 8, which is a drop in the bucket. I was thinking Crystals since those cost skill points to buy?
Anything I could do with those 123 little ones? Go get 127 more to make a big one and buy one more of the above maybe?
I get a good deal of enjoyment working on my daily and chasing the dragon timer around with my two 80s. I have done some puzzles. If I guessed, 15%? I’m not pushing to do them, but I’ll seek the one out in the zone if I haven’t tried it before and happen to think of it and not in a rush.
Master Crafter, that is the only thing I felt like I ‘completed’, per se. Oh, 100% map on my 2 80s. Actually got all the WvW mapping done for the next two characters I have, which are both around 35-50. One I was playing with a friend, who I don’t imagine will ever come back. Sadly most of my friends don’t play MMOs any more.
I did the main story once, and on the 2nd character, all the way up to Zoltan!! (sorry, can’t keep hearing that in my head and making the ‘Z’ with my hands when I hear Zhaitan), but not sure if I want to brave doing that again. I was lucky enough to do it with 4 crazy people who ‘loved’ repeating that in story mode just because they thought it was fun.
And still do a little WvW, though not terribly good at it. Just try to ‘listen’ (chat) and watch and go help where I think I’m needed. The ‘no typing’ trend is a bit frustrating for me, but on the plus side it’s a bit like getting to experience the world as a deaf person might, so trying to make the most of that.
I’m starting to play my alts a bit more, and recently started a 5th character, warrior. Though I still spend 90% of my time on my two 80s (Elementalist and Ranger) and most of that time on the former, who was my first and consider my main.
But honestly, I just really enjoy loitering around Queensdale still. At 80. When I can’t find 5 things to do in Queensdale for the dailies, I get a bit frustrated.
I wish more people hung out in Divinity’s Reach, but “choosey mother’s choose Jif”, as they say, or however that saying goes.
I suppose my recommendation would be to do small bits of a little of everything and not too much of any one thing and not push too hard. That keeps it enjoyable for me. And sometimes ‘not’ playing as much in a week helps with enjoyment too. There’s nothing wrong with that.
People do transmute the skin of a legendary onto other items to get better stats.
But no one knows yet if those transmuted items will be upgraded if/when Ascended items are added and legendaries get better stats.
Ok thanks. Sort of a scary proposition. All ‘pie in the sky’ at this point for me, I don’t even have the precursor. I was just starting to consider what I’d do if I happened to get Legend. I guess what I might do at that point is start building up all the raw materials and then maybe let them sit in a corner.
I have a bad feeling it’ll be non-transferrable. I mean, how would they do that? If I took Bifrost and put it on a 10th level white item, would it bump the stats so I had a Legendary 10th level item, relative to say, a yellow of that level? Would the rule be “only when you apply it to an Exotic or better do we then bump the ‘base’ that you put it on to Legendary values”?
It seems like it would be a monstrous proposition to track how that would work. Other than the look, once you skin a Legendary onto something else now, does the resulting item say Legendary or Transmuted? I’m concerned there’s nothing saved about that item that would indicate it’s Legendary?
Thanks again.
I had always thought that if I got a pre-cursor for a Legendary, I’d just sell it, because I’d never go after one myself. In fact I got one once from the Claw event, forget what it was, I think a wand? And I sold it.
Now I’m entertaining Legend/Bifrost. I really like how Bifrost looks, and would look great on my Elementalist.
But I’m not crazy about it’s base stats. I have quite a bit of my condition damage wrapped up in my current staff. 179 Condition and a Corruption Sigil. Bifrost trades that out for Toughness (which I like to carry in half my armor so it’s not so weapon dependent, though other than siege/wall defense occasionally with S/F, I mostly stick with my staff.
Now, do most people not really care so much for the stats on the Legendary and end up using it as a ‘skin’? If you do that, what happens to the Legendary status of the item? I know with the addition of Ascended items that Legendary items might then get a bump to another level in the future so they are a wee bit better than Exotics. If you ‘skin’ a Legendary, is it still Legendary and eligible for the bump later?
Or when you go for a Legendary, you have to be content with the stats it has on it?
Ah so I can repeat those that i have done before this month right? Thanks.
Absolutely, you just have to complete any 12 different puzzles before 0 GMT May 1. You may revisit any puzzle you have previous completed before 0 GMT April 1, and that revisit will count once for the month (i.e., you can do the 3 in Lion’s Arch for 3/12, but you can’t do it over 4 days for 12/12).
Will the content go away? Some of it? All of it?
What about those periscopes? Or at least moved to lower traffic areas (the zones are fine, but along roadsides on on the way to vistas, not so much)?
it’s a unique item in the items description.
Yes but I had no idea what that meant until today. I would’ve rather learned it another way.
I’ve been playing MMOs for a long time, and this is a very unfortunate side effect. They make a lot of assumptions when they put out games like that, that we just ‘know’ everything.
I know what it means, but a lot of people just don’t. It’s unfortunate.
What’s more unfortunate is this many months in, there is no system of returning items for refunds. I’m sure it’s more due to the cost of the humans that would have to police the system and not the mechanics of said system. I’m sure they could come up with a reasonable sell back for 100% system that couldn’t be abused (‘renting’ armor for special events and selling it back, for example), but, well, there you go.
I had my own little issue with Ascended items when I accidentally bought an Offensive amulet instead of a Utility one. They wouldn’t let me refund it. Not a huge deal, I was just going to put a magic find in it some day, but I’m going to leave it empty in the event there’s a way to bring up my old ticket again if they ever implement something down the road.
I feel for you, and hope you get it resolved.
Lots of veteran oak hearts where the champion spawns in Queensdale. Plus a lot of others killing them there, so it goes fast. I got mine and invader kills in about 3 hours of WvW without thinking about it. Just happened. Not sure what my third was, I think events, but my 4th was dailies, and finished on the 4th only because you can do a daily only once a day.
Ok thanks folks. So just make sure the ‘large displaced creatures’ are downed when they pop it sounds like.
I guess I should have clarified that I understand all that.
In lieu of that, once it’s in a ‘window’, is there something you have to do special to make it go? Kill the 3rd Troll by only damaging his arm with ice just as the sun is going down? That sort of thing?
It’s either bugged on our server (Emhry), or there’s just no one around that knows how to make it go? Is there something you need to do to make sure the green things show up?
I’m not aware of any way to ‘recover’ from a situation where you might accidentally have selected the wrong cosmetic look for the piece of armor.
I guess another argument for creating a system that works more like dyes. Any time you use a transmutation stone on a piece of armor, both piece’s ‘look’ become ‘memorized’ like a dye, which you can apply whenever you want later. Whether they choose at that point to make us burn trans stones/crystals after that point to ‘only’ apply a look to a piece of armor (since no stats would be transmitted from a memorized look) is entirely up to their marketing department at that point.
But it would seem to solve the problem where you spend a lot of real or in game money and accidentally select the wrong item as the ‘look’. I can’t imagine how I’d feel if I had accidentally used the wrong look transmuting a T3 chest piece to something at 30g a piece.
Lack of some of these fundamental administrative restoration processes is a bit frustrating this far into the life cycle. I sincerely hope you get a better answer than this one, which while better than nothing, isn’t a very good one.
