Runs great.
On a related note, if you still play TSW and enjoy how the DX11 mode looks and have an nVidia card, do NOT upgrade to Windows 8.
Proudly (?) demoted to DX9 over there, and while I still find the game fun, I’m mostly not playing out of protest.
I have one called ‘Country Blue’ which kinda looks like that, though might be a bit darker?
Where?
Frostgorge Sound [Aurora Glade]
Bore-Lynch (near the Groznev Waypoint)What?
NPC is missing to engage the skill point. It’s my last thing I need for 100% world completion :C
I wonder what server you were on at the time? My first character did it on Sea of Sorrows without issue. This is the first time I have needed it since transferring to Emhry Bay over a month ago. I was curious as to whether you were from there and if it’s really been broken all this time or not?
It is, in fact, still broken on EB. There is no NPC there.
That’s probably a good idea.
Ok done. Hopefully I just get a slap on the wrist, or a 72 hour suspension or something. I wasn’t really thinking about what I’d done, was just so excited to get the last little place I needed. It wasn’t until I started typing out my response and what I had done that I realized that maybe that wasn’t such a good thing to do.
(edited by notebene.3190)
Thanks. Turns out someone showed me how you can jump up a little wall and walk over it to get to the skill without having to fire the event off, so I went that route. Hope that wasn’t illegal to do that.
In Cursed Shore, there’s a skill point at the Reliquary Vault. I went in there earlier today, and there was a Raisin King Champion in there, which I had no hope of taking alone, so I had to leave the commune skill be.
I logged in just now, hoping to see if anyone wanted to do it, and see that the Champion wasn’t showing on the mini-map. Perfect! I’ll run in and grab it!
Except…there’s a gate…and it’s locked.
So how does that little place work? Is there a way to open the gate? Is it tied to that group event? Is there a way to trigger that event? Is the only way to get that skill point to defeat the Raisin King?
I thought you could just run there, can’t you make it safely?
It turns out I’m not terribly smart. This, I knew, but I was in denial.
It turns out that wasn’t even the POI in question, but since those online maps show it like it ‘is’ a POI just like all the others, I was ‘certain’ that was it.
A kind soul logged their main in and started linking POIs to me and I found the one I was missing, way across the map. Had nothing to do with that ‘phantom’ POI that the online maps make look like a POI as you would see it on the game map. That’s what confused me. :\
I did, and it turns out it’s not even the one I needed. I saw that on those maps and ‘assumed’ it was what I needed, since I didn’t see it on my map, but it wasn’t. It was one in a completely different place.
What is weird is I ‘still’ don’t show that as an actual POI on my map though, so that’s what confused me.
Thanks for the help folks.

I can’t figure out how to get to that POI. It seems like it’s right at the dungeon entrance? Is it in some secret place around the corner in a completely different area? It’s the last POI I need on this map. I got it on my main months ago, but don’t remember having difficulties with it (though she was also working on the other achievement so uncovered far more than this character.
New question. My server actually did the event (miracle!), but now I’m up there and can’t get the Ruined City of Arah POI.
No one, and I mean ‘no one’ will answer my pleas asking how to do it in /m (hilarious). Apparently I’m not part of the Skippy Von Chippington III Guild or something, and it’s a secret.
How do I get that POI?
Is it possible to be summoned to Arah by going on a dungeon run (somehow), and then walk outside the front door to get the two POIs and the waypoint back there? Or, must you approach it during that event?

Lots of people report this one, and there are a few other legs that cause the same issue.
One thing that is interesting about this is when I see someone else wearing the same pants, I look at them through animations where it’s more prominent (stretching) and I don’t see it on them. I’m not sure if that means it’s a problem you only see on yourself, or if maybe it’s an issue with the selected body type? I choose the option in Row 1, Column 2.
I’m curious as to what body type people have that experience this, if that matters, and whether or not it’s something you do or do not see on other people.
Unless it came with a note telling me why I was the lucky winner of the big money give away, I would have sent it back, in the event they meant to send it to someone else. I would hope someone would do the same for me. If I had meant to gift it and someone returned it, I could always gift it again with an explanation.
Thanks folks. Glad to hear it’s a bug and not intended. I was concerned it was a change to purposely get us to use some of the toys, which under the right circumstances isn’t a bad thing. In this case, it just seems to draw the whole thing out needlessly.
Did they change it on purpose so you have to use the pew pew guns to bring the wall down at each interval, thereby creating an artificial time sink to the event that doesn’t really add any sort of challenge or increased difficulty (other than the withstanding of a patience tried)?
Or is that just a bug that needs fixing?
I didn’t see anything in the last patch notes to determine whether that was intentional or not? Unless that’s one of the many things under “Fixed bugs and exploits”?
I sure hope it’s a bug. Those “Jonny Space Commander Galaxy Star Rockeaters-Don’t-Eat-Bars” guns aren’t terribly fun. :\
What I ‘like’ to do is lay out heals and passively heal people on auto-attack in between with my water blast…albeit poorly.
Yes, provided they are the same type (medium-to-medium, in your example). You have to use a ‘Fine’ transmutation stone if either the source or destination is level 80. Every other level combination should only require a ‘Basic’.
Thank you as well.
Though, I’m ashamed to admit I don’t know how to make the PvP Toymaker’s Bag do something.
Thanks folks.
I’m put some left over stuffing up for sale at the lowest price that everyone else was selling it (at the time), and I can’t figure out where ‘all’ this extra stuffing is coming from that people are putting up for cheaper and cheaper. The supply doesn’t seem to be diminishing at all, and as I understood it, that supply should be dwindling.
So, I was curious.
I mean, besides buying what people don’t want on the TP. Are there still activities that reward it regularly? Irregularly?
There is a panel when you first go in to select. Some sort of vote happens, or something, not really sure about that part?
At any rate, it’s ‘mostly’ there for people who missed days. If you already got a frame, you won’t be able to get another of that type “from the Tixx event”.
If you would like another frame for any of the toys, you can buy them from the event trader, person, guy (forget what he’s called…the fellow that takes old clothing for stuff) for 250 old clothes each.
I bought the doll frame from him and got my tonic on the 4th try (yay!)
You can edit your title, but I wouldn’t worry about.
Was that the stop at Divinity’s Reach?
Try changing power management mode to “prefer max performance” in nvidia cpl, and disable flash hardware acceleration (rt click -> settings, on any youtube video).
I tried the second one. I’ll try the first one, and report my findings, but that will not be a solution, as it was working perfectly fine for months with everything as it was on super high settings.
[Edit: No matter, that did nothing.]
And I’ve been through a really ‘long’ process thus far with support where they make me download and run all these testing programs, upload logs, etc. They even had me restart with ‘no’ extra programs running and that didn’t work. Still no word from them on what the issue is.
Remember this ‘only’ happens when you open your friends list. Why would something seemingly that global only effect ‘one’ UI window?
(edited by notebene.3190)
list your driver settings
i don’t get any impact what so ever by opening any of the games UI windows, friends list included.
Do you want the driver version?
As far as settings, I don’t play around with any of the nVidia settings in the control panel. I let it be what it is.
Or did you want to know my in game graphic settings?
No worries, thanks for not leaving us hanging!
Since you like PvP, if you’ve not tried WvW, that can be a good way to level quickly if you supplement your PvE play with it.
Crafting nets you a lot and you’ll find yourself ahead, but if you don’t like that, others have suggested visiting all the other races starting areas, which are easy to get to through the gate system and Lions Arch. Besides 5 1-15 zones, I think there are 4 distinct 15-25 zones? If I counted right? You are down leveled, so they are still quite fun, and some of the loot will be on par with your level.
If you aren’t crafting, sell all those mats on the TP. Take up gathering, buy sickles, axes, picks for the area and gather everything. Good exp in gathering and money selling it all, if you aren’t going to craft.
I would suggest “Support” up top.
Ask a Question.
Issue Type: Feedback
Quote – “Don’t worry if you miss one of the stops. Once Tixx arrives in Lion’s Arch, you can play any day’s version of the airship instance you’d like!”
Hopefully that goes for the frames as well.
Perhaps they thought this was the “Players Helping Player” forum?
I mostly enjoy it as well. I was a ‘bit’ perturbed at how the achievements for the snowball fight seemed a bit anti-team oriented, until I realized that it’s kinda OK for the ‘Stopper’ achievement. So I spent a few hours relentlessly sacrificing myself until I got 5 kills and that worked pretty well. It is a shame that the ‘Bringer’ isn’t more team oriented.
The puzzle was too hard for me, so I stopped trying after about 20 times of only making it to about 10 flakes each time. I will never be able to do something that is too rushed with respect to jumping. I can jump when I get time to prepare and think about it (and cheat with speed buffs), but not when I’m carrying a present and happy elf music is mocking me.
And that’s not to say the puzzle is bad, it’s just not something I can do, so I don’t.
I really like the Tixx thing. I don’t want to call it a dungeon, because it isn’t. It’s more of a DE chain that you only get to go to with 5 people. The groups form really fast and easy, everyone seems really nice and helpful, and it’s just kinda silly and fun. I’m not a fan of dungeons at all, but found these really fun (I am a big fan of DEs).
The Bell Choir was perfect. Did well; enjoyed it; not much else to say there.
The snowball fight event was great, just didn’t like the anti-team achievement.
Presents in the world are fun, and much more fun when there are others around to help take down the nasty toys when they pop, though my ranger did well dropping some traps before opening boxes and then jumping in to drop vines quickly then circling them hurling my axe.
Hmm…did I miss any events?
Oh, the only ‘iffy’ thing for me is whether or not they’ll give me another doll frame so I can make the tonic. I made the doll. Had I known it had a better use, I would have bought the doll. I guess we’ll see if they elect to burn me on that or not, but I’m still hopefully we’ll get another chance at frames once Tixx gets to LA.
This might be rather risky, but has anyone tried to use the doll in place of the frame and see if it makes the tonic?
If that works, and you get the doll back in a package on each failure, I’d gladly try that and then just buy the doll.
350 gems at the gem store which isn’t that bad if you really want it.
I think the issue is for those of us who, say, used the doll frame to make a doll (like I did) only to find out there is an undocumented use for them to make an endless tonic, which allows ‘you’ to become the doll.
And the issue isn’t that the ‘secret’ method exists, that’s the fun part of the game, finding the new combinations, which then eventually get published and everyone knows, and you get the privilege of having the first one for ‘n’ number of days or hours.
The issue is there may be (unless they allow you to get the frames again once they get to LA) no way to get the frame again to make the tonic, if you used it on the doll, like I did.
Edit: And no, I don’t think 350 is too much, and would ‘gladly’ buy a doll for that much, had I know I needed to save my frame to make a tonic.
Sure hope we get another chance at getting more frames on the 20th. I made my doll frame, would love to have the doll endless.
It worked as of 10 days or so ago, when I successfully got Vigil legs on my Whispers Ranger.
I’m ‘concerned’ that maybe the “Can’t preview other class armor” patch note might have something to do with it, so I’d be careful.
Which brings up two things.
1. Why is it a ‘bug’? Why does it even exist to begin with? Making something that useful that specific to the factions and then going out of their way to make sure we can never use them. This is why we can’t have nice things. I personally think the Whispers/Vigil pairing came out great (with some non-bulky crafted boots and gloves – attached). If they need to go all ‘comic book guy’ on us, pick something else. Secret lore books you can only read if you are a member of that faction. But something so visual? No thank you.
2. Which brings me to the whole armor preview fix, whether it was related to this or not. Why? What inter-dimensional rift was destroyed, thereby saving all of humanity from impending doom by not allowing a cloth wearer to preview weapons and armor they can’t use?
Having said that, if you are a brave soul and would like to try it, here’s how I did the legs:
Background: Level 65ish Ranger who is a member of the Whispers wants the Vigil legs.
1. Leveled my 15th level Guardian through the personal story to join the Vigil (ended at around 27).
2. As soon as I joined, ran out to the Vigil vendor in Gendarran and bought the Vigil leather leggings for 1.87-ish.
3. Used the lowest level character I have to buy the lowest level pair of ‘white’ named leather leggings from a generic armor vendor (because I’m cheap and don’t like fractals and dungeons and love to craft so I have no money). Put white pants in the bank.
4. Guardian uses a ‘fine’ transmutation stone (because the source is 80) to merge the ‘look’ of the Vigil legs onto the low level white leather legs, ‘keeping’ the stats of the white legs.
Note 1: The fine print says (or at least said) that the item would be soulbound. The resulting item when I did it about 10 days ago was ‘account bound’.
Note 2: At the time, at least, it was apparent that you could transmute items even though you couldn’t use them. Remember, it was my Guardian transmuting the ‘leather’ legs together. Hopefully this part hasn’t changed as well.
5. Put the white ‘account bound’ legs in the bank, Ranger picks them up.
6. I used a ‘basic’ trans stone, because I was putting them on 65 legs at the time. Had I been 80 and putting them on an 80, I would have used a ‘fine’. Transmuted the look of the low level white legs (which now has the Vigil skin) onto whatever destination legs I want, keeping those stats (and insert, if it had one).
That was it. Thought it came out nice (attached). Not sure why this is a ‘bug’ and they wouldn’t want us to have nice things, but I digress. Clearly these types of things are more pressing than teleporting node farmers. Did I say I digressed?
Edit: Oh, and after the last transmute, it’s now soul bound to that character, since the armor is undoubtedly that you did the 2nd merge on. The first merge makes it account bound, but other than it’s look, it’s kinda worthless at that point since the stats aren’t very good. If your intention is to make a permanent, useful weapon that you can just pass around between your characters with Exotic stats that has a faction look like that, it won’t work. All that I outlined above was how to get a non-faction armor on someone else. Wanted to be clear about that.
(edited by notebene.3190)
I’m not sure what I was expecting, but after doing all that work for them, they closed my ticket. I guess they don’t want to see it on their reports, they apparently have an excellent closure record.
They did find time to crush that “previewing other factions armor” issue which was sweeping through the game causing imbalances and play issues, preventing the TP economy from collapsing.
So, thank you?
Aaaah I found it, thank you! ^.^
Yes, after that, please do share.
if your teammates support you…
This is where the whole thing breaks down. There are no team mates. If you express interest in seeking help to complete the achievements, I swear, it seems like that verbal acknowledgement turns this griefing light on in some people.
And you see everyone’s name, and several times I was on the same team with a person that let me die so they could pick up the box and run, and then turn around and see them on the other team.
At the end of the day, the achievements should have been ‘team’ oriented, as it’s a team oriented activity.
Your ‘team’ successfully returns ‘n’ boxes.
Your ‘team’ successfully foils the enemy from getting ‘n’ boxes.
And just kick the counts up so you still end up running the event a good amount of times, but still have an opportunity to get the achievements.
The snowball fight achievements are counter productive.
As a temporary fix, please add one before it’s all over that gives an achievement for logging in.
Thank you.
Just one.
Until today I was sticking up for it.
However, I’m greatly concerned about being stuck at 11/12 when this is all over.
I do actually have one problem with the whole thing, in hindsight.
I have a fear I’m going to end up 11/12.
If Toygasmusomething ends up being something like snowball fight, then that’ll leave those 2 I won’t be able to get. Puzzle is completely out for me. And I can’t do the snowball fight, which is ‘really’ annoying…and ‘only’ annoying because the achievements aren’t ‘team’ based. They are ‘kitten your neighbor’ based events.
So please, add a new ‘login’ achievement so I can get my 12/12. That’s it, just login one more time before 1/3, and you get an achievement.
How about putting random achievements ‘in’ the presents for the snowball fight?
The achievements should be teamed based. As it stands now, I’m not going to be able to do the jump puzzle or these two. That pins all my hopes on the Toypacotacowhatever thing. If those end up being difficult, then I’ll be at 11/12, and really frustrated.
They need one that’s like “login”. That’s it, login, and you get one.
My concern is that I’ll miss being able to do it, or it’ll be something that isn’t in a category of thing that I can accomplish, which will leave me at 11/12, which will be really sad.
I can’t do the jump puzzle.
I’ve run the snowball game over and over again and all I have to show for it is 1/3 and 1/3.
So that leaves just needing ‘one’ of those two Toypocalpse achievements.
Really hope I can do at least one after the 26th.
What’s the best way to accomplish these, for those who have done it successfully?
I just need to do one, if one is easier than another?
Do we know anything about what it is, or ‘when’ it is? Is it a one time thing or will it be something available starting on the 20-21st?
I’m asking for two reasons.
Firstly, I’ll be traveling from the 22nd to the 26th, and am wondering if it’s something I’ll miss entirely, or if it will be something I’ll be able to do.
Second, do we know much about it? I see two achievements related to it, and if all goes according to plan, I’ll only need one of those 2 to get my 12 and title. Now, that’s assuming they will be, shall we say, doable by someone like me?
I’m having a hard time with the puzzle, so it looks like I won’t get that. I have two possibilities to complete in the big snowball fight, but I only have 1 of those after several days, and it was a fluke. It seems like those will also be quite hard to get. That leaves doing one of those two related to ‘Toypocalypse’, which we don’t (do?) have any information on?
Just trying to plan ahead a bit for my achievement. If TP will be really difficult, I’m wondering how much time I should spend torturing myself with the JP or the snowball fight?
Thanks
I see Tixx is moving there today, and I have had this problem with Black Citadel since the beginning of the game (or after my main reached 80 and I started working on the map completion).
Whenever I go there, there are some areas I cross or go to which all the sudden drag my down to only a few frames a second. Like 3-4. The only way to get rid of it is to exit the game entirely and start again. Other than the Friends List UI lag that produces a similar result (which can be fixed by closing the window and that problem only started in the last 9 days or so), this is the only place in the world where this happens to me.
I was curious as to whether or not any one else has had an issue with this?
“Equipment preview will no longer display the two armor classes unavailable to your character.”
There it is at the bottom of the patch notes on the wiki on the 14th.
Why?
What did this possibly ‘fix’ or ‘solve’? Other than making it annoying, to drag a 1st level character to the PvP locker to go clothes shopping to find out what faction items you want to wear, rather than just mixing and matching with your main, what does this solve?
Was previewing armor you can’t wear what allows people to use 3rd party programs to teleport from node to node around the world?
(edited by notebene.3190)
I pick other zones to loiter in all the time with my two highest characters. To do dailies, or just tool around looking for DEs or whatever.
What I don’t understand is why more people don’t? I get level 7n-ish items when I’m playing in lower level areas. I find it fun. Not ‘every’ item is, is that the problem? Is it because there’s a 0.0045% “flux variance differential coefficient sliding scale slippery slope and then sheep and where does it all end?” number crunching that happens and so the yellows/greens/blues per hour graph shows that it’s not as efficient? And you get the best results with a 34/52/78 spec with a sword in your left hand, a shield on your back, and a Chaz Lawler Super-Cool bracelet on to ensure your crit is 0.006% more flags (which is clearly more fun, as has been scientifically proven)?
I think I found the problem.
“MMOs are other people” – Satre
“MMOs ‘are’ people!” – Charlton Heston
2 grove and 3 divinity. All of them yesterday. Now that I have the ‘stomp’ achievement completed (thanks again for the helpful hints on the forum and everyone who helped me in the game), I’ll probably just do 1 at each city for the time being. I might do 1-2 each day after it gets to LA, we’ll see.
I don’t like dungeons as a general rule, but this is rather fun and plays more like a DE chain you happen to be at with only 5 people.
