For an infusion, I was thinking about getting the gilded, since I’m pretty starved for money all the time. I’m not sure if that is a good idea or not?
And I was either thinking about the Syzygy or maybe The Southsun Rose. I do a little WvW, I like to heal when I can, but pretty much rotate through all my attunements when they are up. I’m a staff user, and have relied on condition damage quite a bit. That second one seems appealing because of the toughness and condition and healing? And what about the first one, or is it bad to get the ‘little of everything’ variety? Though, flipping attunements, I guess I am a little of everything anyways?
Other than I almost ‘always’ use a staff, and like to heal, and do a little WvW from time to time, I don’t really have much of a play style. I don’t care for dungeons so much, though I will muddle through them when required for a monthly (I find them pretty stressful).
Any opinion? Or are both of those choices (and my idea for infusion) not very good? Thanks.
Related, but not completely on topic (sorry), does anyone have a good resource that lists all the events that ‘has’ a chest like this at the end?
I used to mostly just do Claw in Frostgorge (because I like the zone and that event), but now faced with moving around, other than the other 2 dragons, I wasn’t really sure what options there were throughout the world (besides Maw, I know that one too).
I found this, but it doesn’t really specify the ‘once a day’ big chests. Drilling into ‘meta events’ didn’t clear anything up for me.
Glad someone started one of these. I’m liking the variety that I’m seeing so far over the past few days. It’s moved my butt out of sitting in Frostgorge and ‘always’ doing my daily there (or some in WvW) and then getting my 2 ore and 2 wood and logging off.
Between this and the ‘once a day chest’, I’m finding myself meandering around more. Not that I ‘have’ to, but it’s given me an opportunity to take a step back and look at my dailies a bit differently. They tend to just be ‘getting done’ once I pick a few places to go loiter, or bigger things to do.
I’m enjoying spend a lot more time in earlier zones too. Though the little-people starting area still frustrates me to no end, I don’t know why. I think it all comes down to that one POI needing to be accessed by stepping through a portal in Age of Conan (<-hyperbole), but I digress.
Well, 14 hours ago would have been 6pm my time. The reset happens at 5pm. Is it possible that some of you did part of the ones before the reset and part of them after the reset to completion? I know sometimes if you don’t do something to ‘touch’ one of them, they might still appear to be at 100 when they reset. A great example is gathering. Sometimes after a reset, that will still show 100, unless you do a gather, then it resets back down and starts counting.
I’m wondering if you got a few to 100 before the reset, and some after, and it still looks like you completed the other few in the UI, but really they were reset, just not updated to reflect that in the interface?
There’s also a new one in Brisbain Wildlands in the NW corner near the Skritt cave.
Well, the NW corner is “The Gallowfields”, and there is a way point there? Where is it relative to that?
Barely SW from that waypoint. Once you zone in you’ll instantly see it on your radar.
Excellent, thanks, just about to zone in from Kessex. Ran down from Queensdale. I’m too cheap to way point around, so I run around the world. Which, I must be honest, I kinda enjoy.

Critters no longer work for any “Kill”-type daily.
NOOOO!
Actually it was probably better that they fixed that. Poor locals had no salmon to eat in Frostgorge when that quest was up.
Pfft. After I speared them, I left them for the Quaggans to collect and eat!
But it takes half the fun out of dinner for them when they aren’t wigglin’ any more.

Excellent, and that is what I saw, glad you are still around!
And thanks Zog for making me look deeper.
Thanks. There are plenty of folks on my server, it just seems like the first few days are filled with really angry people.
I did manage to find the two items and get them back to LA. I wasn’t aware there was a sword? The people who I talked to thought there were only 2 in now? Guess I will have to keep an eye out for that.
dulfy . net
:)
Well that’s where I usually go, but the last post was Jan 29th. I figured she moved on.
I did manage to find 2 things, and from what I can gather through the rumor mill, that’s all there is right now.
But now I can’t find where refugees would tend to congregate in Lion’s Arch. I talk to the event people, and they don’t mention anything about loitering refugees?
Maybe they are all on an overflow server?
I don’t suppose there’s a new event guide posted anywhere for where to find the items and who we’re suppose to be killing?
I suggest using OrrMaps. You can select what server you are on to find where they are. It can be updated by anyone, so after a reset you can upload the locations yourself.
And to add to this, the most helpful advice someone gave me using the site was to click on the ‘MapList’ drop down, once you’ve found your server, and then pick a recent ‘user’ map that has information for the location you care about. I happen to like Frostgorge, but not everyone who creates maps frequents that zone.
The individual maps tend to be more accurate than the default landing map for the server. It will also indicate how long ago each map was updated, which will help validate, at least loosely, whether it is outdated or not based on whether you experienced a recent server rest, which happened to us a day or two ago.
As of right now, I am 364/1000.
Where did you find your giants?
Well respawn is 1.5m to 3m and you can get two in Brisban. If you camp the spawn then you could get that over a weekend …
Ok, thanks.
As of right now, I am 364/1000.
Where did you find your giants?
That’s great.
I do something similar in the waters in Frostgorge, lots of salmon around there as well, and I find it a good place to do and enjoy other things as well at 80.
Well im an Asura so everyone and everything should be a giant
Here was his/her second post, clearly mocking (all in good fun) my quest for giants.
Perhaps we need to get in the raft with Marshal, Wil and Holly?
At any rate, if you find the magical land, please let us know.
There’s someone, I believe on Jade Quarry, who claims to know a place where average, non-Veteran Giants run freely and naively through fields of lesser creatures, singing songs of larger things, such as themselves, without a care in the world while the smaller and presumably far better armed creatures of the world sit on soft, grassy hill sides on blankets eating fruits and cheeses from baskets, sipping wine, and watching as the children play. Occasionally they ‘think’ of killing a giant, which happily is enough to increase their giant slayer statistic by one point, without having to actually slay a giant, which would be unthinkable in these parts.
But it’s a secret, and that person won’t tell us where the magical land of peaceful giant (non-)slaying is.
Few other possible things to consider:
1. I think I’ve seen some odd behavior where I’m close to a zone border and might see nodes from other zones pop in and out of my radar, but realize they are in another zone.
2. You can get so far away from a node in height (z) that you won’t even see the little up/down carrot indicating the node is above or below you, though this mostly only happens under water.
3. I know this wasn’t the case in your example, but remember that ‘Rich’ ones can only be farmed, once a day, or 24 hours, I forget which (the difference being whether it’s a true 24 or resets when the dailies reset).
Turns out the back doesn’t count. I went and found a Oakheart in Frostgorge to kill me and my helmet broke and I got the hint and the achievement completion.
Thanks Morrellius! And whoever helped me with the mailbox full. And the trebuchet help from the other day (using the one in the PvP staging area)!
I’m trying to get this achievement and I let my armor get all the way down until a piece broke. The piece says ‘broken’ in red when I mouse over it. It happens to be the back piece. All the main 6 pieces are ‘damaged’ at this point, and my paper doll when hovering over the damage indicator is all orange. The little shield itself is the red, broken looking shield.
I never got the message. I tried zoning, nothing. I tried removing the piece and putting it back on, nothing.
I figure it might be because it’s a back piece, and maybe the only way you get the message is if one of the 6 main pieces breaks. The problem is, now my back piece is not useful while I’m waiting for another piece to break. I tried taking those 6 pieces off to just repair the back piece, and it would seem the price is the same, as if she will repair all the items in my bag? Do I have to bank my armor and run to a repair person naked and then repair?
Kinda confused on how to get this hint to come up and only repair one piece of armor.
I see a note at the bottom of the wiki page about 85 hints. Mine only shows 83, or which I completed 81. The broken armor one would, in theory, be 82, and that’s the last one I have in my hint list. So will I still not be able to get the achievement? What else would I be missing?
And yes, this is fun for me. Some people work really hard on legendaries, I like achievements. I will get nothing, but it’s something fairly easy to work towards.
Thanks.
I think this is easier then the plant one
AFAIK oakhearts and all variants count as plants. There’s at least 3 derping about in the same spot of gendarran, and a skillpoint that spawns 3 more right next to them.
Also there are a multitude of them throughout the game. Just kill them whenever you see them, i’m already up to 300 something plant kills.
Plant help, but no giant help?
This is by far the best armor gallery. Also, gw2armor.com is pretty horrible with either the site background colors and armor dye colors.
http://gw2armorgallery.com/
I wish the two got together and made one, because there are some things that are nice about both, and neither seems to have gotten it all right. I do like the better resolution screen shots on gw2armor, as well as the side and behind views.
Yes, very well.
TSW with an nVidia card trying to use DX11? Sadly, not so much. Best I can gather from the forums, it’s not nVidia or Funcom’s fault. It’s my fault, for wanting it to work like it was working before I upgraded. I should be considered lucky to get to play it DX9 as an acceptable work around.
But it works great with GW2 and everything else I have played thus far.
iv used that treb to try and get the hint but i dident get completion. i was thinking it was bugged. Thisa was a while ago though so can you confirm if this i working?
I did it before making my ‘Bingo’ post. It worked for me. I wasn’t really paying attention, and not sure if I got it after I fired or if the hint showed up before I fired, but it definitely worked.
I did happen to use a character that was not my main, though I don’t know why that would matter? Happened to be a 35th level character. I just walked down that little road to the picture of the trebuchet and used it without talking to the NPC there.
Well, I’m going to try my luck here. I asked for some tips in-game and got nothing but a bunch of people calling me an idiot, telling me to press “V” and being trolls. I know /how/ to dodge, I just suck at the timing.
Any tips you guys can give me?
I think it is easier when you know the enemies really well, and know their timing, but going up against stuff I havent spent a long time killing, I never do it right.
Well, first I’m sorry you were yelled at, but I get that too, for seemingly completely benign questions, but I digress.
There are two things wrapped up in your question, and I’m not sure what we are to be answering? Are you asking to become better at dodging to get the daily achievement done or dodging to avoid damage? To me, they are two ‘totally’ different propositions.
Before the daily dodge came around, I have successfully used to dodge to avoid getting hit by a ‘lot’ of things! It’s what keeps me alive, and I’m sure many people. I still like to use my directionals, and have never had a problem dying in a jumping puzzle accidentally using them, by introducing a bit of patience, and for those puzzles where you can’t use patience, well, I don’t do them…but all aside from the point.
Getting better to precisely dodge at the exact point needed to trigger the achievement is a totally different thing. If you are wondering how to do that efficiently (besides go build a Ranger and use a greatsword and hit 3, or whatever button it is, especially if you don’t have a Ranger), I’d recommend worms that stay stationary and throw rocks, for a few reasons.
1. They don’t move once you attack them, they just sit there and wiggle around until they decide to throw a rock.
2. You can find many that aren’t near other monsters and are relatively safe to just stand around and focus at the task at hand.
3. The wind up before the rock throw is really noticeable and long.
4. Stand pretty far away from the worm, as you will want to dodge once you see the rock in the air coming at you (if you dodge during the wind up, the rock will find you when it comes out).
That’s pretty much it. Because the wind up is so long, it’s plenty of time for your [always forget the name of the stat] to come back so you are ready to dodge again.
Not really sure if V works on this, I’m sure it does, you’ll want to check ‘behind’ you if doing that. I prefer a double-D right dodge myself, habit, I’m a counter-clockwise circle strafer.
And I like to run the few feet back to where I was standing when I started each time to minimize picking up other mobs, since I had already scouted the area before starting.
If you are 80, there’s some great worms in Frostgorge that allow you to stand out on the road and dodge there. No other mobs other than yellow small worms that will only join in if you hit them with something. I often get double-points when I dodge from the worm as well, not sure why. And you can either finish the big worm when you are done, or leave him to wallow in non-mobility shame.
The trebuchet one can be gotten in the Mists lobby. There is a treb there you can fire. It should net you completion by using it.
Bingo! Thank you…again!
Kylo, ok thanks. Now I have to figure out how to hot join.
I guess the next question is: How do I get to go to a PvP occurrence and use a trebuchet?
“LFG Trebuchet Group – Want to fire once – trip to Bucharest optional”
I didn’t go ‘looking’ for hint completion, but when you get all of anything except 3 things, it’s understandable you’d want to try to finish it, no?
since the hint is under PvP and not WvW it should be rather obvious it is the spvp map with the treb in it (not playing enough spvp to really remember the name of the map though)
Except that I’ve completed everything else except that one, and I’ve never done any PvP other than WvW?
Which is why you don’t have the hint, since according to the other guy you need to do sPvP to get the hint instead of WvW
Except ‘my’ point was I never did ‘any’ PvP, so how did I get ‘all’ the other PvP related accomplishments if they are only related to PvP-Proper?

So after having a stranger send me an email every 60 seconds until my mail box was full a week or two ago, I’m down to getting the broken armor message (which I’m very close to getting on my main character, everything I’m wearing is brown at this point) and some message you are supposed to get related to a trebuchet (though spell check in this forum would have you believe I really meant to spell ‘Bucharest’, which seems highly unlikely):
Category: PvP
Trebuchet: Bombard clustered enemies or demolish buildings with the trebuchet! Press and hold “Fire Trebuchet” to shoot farther.
I didn’t build it, I took over for someone else, and used it 20+ times before the wall came down on a fort and everyone stormed in and took it.
I never got the hint.
Do I have to ‘build’ the trebuchet, and I get the message after placing one? Putting resources into building it? Being the last person to put resouces and finish building it? Are these special trebuchets not in WvW? tPvP? sPvP? iPad?
Thanks.
According to a post this person dug up, it would work.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/players/Server-Transfers-2/first#post1395317
And it makes sense, as you wouldn’t be asking to transfer anything, seeing as you had no characters. I believe it would ask you to select your server again as it did when you created your first character.
What would you like to be able to spend it on?
Fine Transmutation Stones!
I would think if you deleted all your characters it would ask you to pick your server when you went to create your first character again? There would be no transfer?
Yeah that’s not there. If you did you would have way more people undercutting by 1c, especially on high price items. Since its there, you may have people thinking a little bit more about the price they are posting.
Admittedly I ‘fudged’ having seen the price a few days before the weekend, so I posted them back at that price (just 2c more than the current market value) thinking they would recover during the week after the weekend (when there was more supply) and it just never recovered.
So I guess I’m just going to post at market.
My guild has AC explorable on farm with ~15-20 minutes per path.
We find CoF to be an easy one as well, although we’re not as quick with that one
I would definetely say to do the explorables instead of stories. In most cases, I’ve found story to be MUCH harder then explorable, or at least harder then 1 or 2 explorable paths. Example? AC story is SOOOOO much harder then all 3 paths in explorable. I would say the same with CM imo
Really? That’s interesting, I just assumed since the story one’s were the introduction and the explore modes were 5 levels higher, they were much harder. Seems counter intuitive. I haven’t done any explorables yet. I guess I ought to hook up and try some P1 and P2 with some folks. Thanks.
I did my second 5 dungeons this week (I did them in November, hoping that the 2 ‘mystery monthlies’ would be something like October’s festival ones, chasing turkeys or crafting pilgrim hats or something, but I digress…they ended up being fractals, needless to say I didn’t get November done).
I did a few ACs and 3 CMs, all story. It’s a bit of a toss up as to which is easier, and depends on whether you have a good leader, or someone that can help target the mobs for everyone?
My last was a CM which was ‘really’ easy because we had a really good leader who kept things targeted, pulled groups well, etc. One of the other CM runs we finished, but we had a lot of deaths, because we just didn’t have an alpha personality, and that’s fine, it just made it tougher.
My favorite run was my 2nd AC run. Some ‘really’ nice folks on TC took me for my first AC story run a few days back and really explained everything on the way, how to use the rocks in each situation. During my second run, we had the leader bail on us after the first fight because, I think, an NPC looked at him funny? Or maybe he was downed for 2.4 seconds? And we were f@1lz0rz kek kek? I don’t know, we got a 5th and soldiered on, and I helped direct traffic a little bit with the rock usage and other things, and we did great!
And of course we made fun of Captain Bail Monkey at the end for leaving us. Though…I hear he made it back from his space flight in one piece, though strangely cosmetically altered. /shrug
So I’m torn between which is easier. AC is probably a pain if you don’t use the rocks. But good rock usage makes that one pretty easy, I think. Though that trap room is a pain, and I haven’t learned how to be the person to turn that off, so ‘maybe’ CM is easier? Some tight quarter fighting in CM though, lots of furniture to get stuck on trying to dodge and run around. I seem to recall the groups to fight in AC on the way to bosses were only maybe 3 at the most? So less stressful there?
Both were great to get my 5. And I think I came out of the experience far less dungeon shy. Overall everyone out there is pretty great. Wish I could remember the name of the TC guild that helped me.
I wish there was a way to lower the price without pulling it off the market. I got a precursor, sold it for a few gold under the current lowest seller. I come back the next day and there are a handful more that are a few gold less than mine. Now there are 10+ cheaper than mine and like you, I am stingy about my money.
That must be harsh with a precursor. I just got an 80+ and 50+ stack of Mithril.
Ok, thank you. I suppose they do it to prevent micro-transaction crashes? Oh well, much as life’s rules, while not directed at every day folks, we end up with the burden of protection from the bad seeds.
Once it’s out there, is there any way to lower the price without having to actually pull the sale, thereby losing the 5% deposit?
I have some mithril out there for sale when prices were a bit higher (a 48c and 50c batch, luckily they are relatively small batches). I’d love to lower the price, but admit I’m stingy and would rather not be dinged 5%.
I can’t imagine there’d be any reason to think prices would go up at this point?
Thanks.
I’m necroing this thread of mine because last night while introducing a friend to this game I found that actually it IS possible to ninja in this game.
We were doing one of the very early events in Ashford, one where you have you an item to pop some purple objects (can’t remember the details, I was simply looking out for mobs aggroing him).
Anyhow, he uses the item to pop these purple object you have to turn in (it’s one of those “your contribution is” type events) and gets aggro from two mobs that spawn.
While he’s fighting some guy comes in and takes all the purple objects that popped. My friend got none, these are NOT per-player they global.
This is the epitome on ninjaing as far as I’m concerned and was upset to have to tell him “sorry, they lied to me, you can apparently ninja in this game too”.
Yeah, there are two ways that (sadly) contribution quests are a bit of a bummer. The items themselves, and the way the timer works relative to the number of people in the area. If there are only 2 people around, and you have 15 things on you headed back to turn them in, and it’ll probably ‘finish’ the quest and start the timer, and someone else comes in the area, the timer will only be maybe 10 seconds. If I am aware of my surroundings and see someone come by and I’m fairly certain I’ll ‘finish’ the quest, I’ll just go up and sit by the turn in, and maybe send the person a tell asking them if they are doing it, and then wait until they come turn in, then finish turning mine in.
As far as being able to ‘steal’ the items, it is an oversight.
Having said that, all the ‘other’ mechanics with respect to stealing, loot and experience distribution, they did ‘so’ many things right. The only ‘sad’ thing is the discovered ‘bonus’ to partying, which often ends up being a mechanism of ‘haves’ and ‘have nots’ in situations like Claw of Jormag, where everyone is grouping up in the pre-event to make sure they get as much loot as possible, and sometimes you go without getting a group.
I personally wish that part didn’t exist. I understand why they did it. The alternative would be to have the looting mechanism be dynamic in that you get a loot roll even if you didn’t necessarily contribute but were ‘in the area’. That would allow people to just stand around and do nothing and pick up loot.
I do with they had found a ‘non-grouping’ solution for that, though. Other than going to a dungeon or a raid (which then just becomes a flagging mechanism to let the game know together you are one entity doing something), I think the ‘party’ mechanic is outdated and unnecessary, as warm and fuzzy as it makes some people feel.
According to the wiki, the best one is a level 80 green sold for karma in the Cursed Shore. I might not be aware of a better one though…
And the best ‘skin’ (at least for light armor wearers) was located on a karma vendor in Frostgorge until they broke it.
Creator Zee in Bloodtide Coast still has those skins!
Done and done, thank you! I’m sure they will break this one too in the name of…something…realism? But traveling by pink star gates sheathing a staff by putting it behind my back…hovering 8 inches behind my back, that’s ok? Mmm hmm.
And thankfully since I was using the LOA, it is only a level 77 item, so didn’t have to use a precious Fine TS.
Guess I’ll enjoy it while I can.
Thanks again!

If you are high enough level to work with the worms that throw the rocks, I find this an extremely easy way to get it, after looking around and testing.
You see the wind up coming, tilt your camera so you can see it’s mouth. As soon as the rock is in the air coming at you, dodge. You can sit there with one worm at a distance until you get your count then finish him off.
If you can’t find a worm, I found the bears to be pretty good too. They rear up before they maul you, and it’s not too hard to get the timing down.
Other than that, big events like the pre-events for ‘Claw’ work really well, especially the last crystal where you have a ‘lot’ of mobs throwing out area attacks and you are constantly having to get out of the way. I’ve gotten the whole thing done just doing the pre-events and Claw (there are also little area effects before the ice spikes form that you can dodge out of in the last step).
But the worms are my new favorite, especially since my favorite character is parked and loiters in Frostgorge.
Edit: Just remember there are baby worms in the 1-15 Wayfarer area. I’m not sure if they have the kind that throw the rocks, or if you can get one isolated to dodge without having to avoid adds, but I remember seeing them there.
thanks, doesn’t that seem…
excessive? lol
I thought so the first time I saw it, but it’s not too bad. I’m only at 13% and pretty happy with the progress so far. And that’s only doing white, yellow and OJs. If I need to pick up the pace and start doing all the blues and maybe greens, it’ll go quick.
I’m more worried about the dungeons. Too chicken to jump in a gw2lfg group.
I don’t suppose anyone is offering to take newbies on dungeon runs for the monthly achievement? Nothing terribly stressful? Inside voices? I’m on Emhry and don’t have any of my guesting servers locked, so can go wherever.
Emhry Bay. It’s possible it changed, I moved on. I did end up going around, but couldn’t open it from the inside either.
Nope, no centaurs. The gate is shut, all the friendly NPCs are turning their noses up to the Hero of Shaemoor. :|
