And your characters that have 400 crafting since…forever, also have to be 80th level to memorize the finished good patterns (armor/weapons/jewelry).
I don’t think they need to be 80, because I was able to learn them high 70s (I’m 80 now on my ele).
While the two under 80 characters I have (with 400 crafting) could learn the component piece, neither of them can mem the finished goods recipes because they have an 80th level requirement on them.
“Your level is not high enough to use this item.”
I hope it’s not intentional. I went ahead and bought everything and found nooks and crannies to shove things while I wait for that requirement to be dropped so I can mem them up and blissfully remain under 50th level on those 2 characters.
I posted a suggestion to change this. I don’t understand the philosophy myself. I have 2 alts that aren’t 80 (by choice) that have 4 of my crafts on them. Jewel/Cook and Weapon/Armor. As it stands now, I won’t be able to make my Elementalist any of the weapons she’d like or possibly jewelry (though that isn’t as critical because of the ascended gear).
I guess there was some fine print we missed when we spread our crafts around to alts that said something along the lines of:
“You can avoid having to pay the 4g switching cost by spreading your crafts around to other characters, in fact we encourage it! Playing alts means more bag space and other purchases from the gem store! However, 10 months from now, we’ll most likely arbitrarily reward those people who use the 4g sink rather than alts! So while we encourage alts, we do not encourage alts!”
And your characters that have 400 crafting since…forever, also have to be 80th level to memorize the finished good patterns (armor/weapons/jewelry).
400. Understood.
Level 80?
I spread my crafting around among some alts. I don’t really feel like spending time leveling and equipping them. I guess I’m missing the fine print that lets me know that I did it wrong, and the right way was to put all the crafts on one character and pay the monthly health ca… I mean switching costs?
Pandadelic Sadness is Pandadelic
I have 400 in all disciplines, but my Jewel/Cook and Weapon/Armor characters (I used alts, I’m finicky with my money and the switching costs seemed high for me to put it all on one character) aren’t 80 yet. They’re 40 something.
Not only do the new recipes require 400s, they require you to be level 80 to mem them.
I don’t really understand why they did that part.
With honorable mention to Astral.
You know…I should have known that.
I get confused sometimes when new things come out and some things have a new look and some things don’t. Clearly, all the preview codes that Dulfy had for the armor were just Exotic crafted. I’m not sure why I thought the weapons would be different.
Thanks folks!
Following this was super helpful for me.
Sorry if this has been asked, searching even on ‘celestial’ didn’t produce anything.
Is there a way to preview this armor? I am looking in the PvP locker, and there is only the Zenith. Dulfy had some armor codes I found which you can whisper yourself in game and preview. Did she have something like this for weapons? Or is there any other way to see what they look like before someone makes one and sells one in a few days?
While I was nervous about this one, it was largely unwarranted. There is a lot to do, and ‘still’ do even though I have my 16. The race is ‘really’ fun and at 9-11s per race completion, something worth repeating while it’s around.
Also, if you are heading towards one and see it disappear, it’s just because someone got to it before you. So make a mental note of about where it is and ‘continue’ to head there. You should still have 2 bags on the ground that you can loot. When someone pops one, everyone gets 2 bags, even though the icon goes away on the map. I’m not sure how long they will stay there, though.
Just don’t assume someone beat you. There’s still goodies there.
I’ll add to the awesome community story. A big ol’ Charr named “Scorch Bloodclaw” on Emhry Bay was making sure people had gotten in the top 3 at least once. Not only was his initiative amazing, but everyone else, at least in my races, seemed to be cooperating.
I’m sure I made him nervous when I blew right by him the first time when he said it and won, but I read what he wrote, and I hadn’t yet. The win jumped me over my 16.
So to Scorch and the rest of the folks that ran a few races with me tonight on Emhry (which is my home server, I don’t guest much). Thank you!
I don’t know where the other 9 are.
But this was the guide I was talking about, for those who don’t know about it. Not only this event, but Dulfy has been writing great guides for various games for a few years.
There’s a link in there to walk through finding at least 43 of the crystals.
As it turns out, it started getting a bit tough for me when I was at 29, so I decided to see how hard the racing was (I had gotten to 14/16), and it turns out that was all pretty easy. Collecting crystals, and then some small runs at the end of the night where some ‘really’ nice people were stopping at the finish line (Emhry Bay) and letting folks go that hadn’t placed in the top 3 yet.
So now I’m all done, and have my home crystal thing. I’ll get that 8 charged crystal one, I’m sure, just because it seems like something useful to do over the next few weeks.
All in all, I started a ‘bit’ nervous about this one, but it really wasn’t too bad. While I won’t get some of the inner meta achievements (like the kites), it did manage to get me off my duff and run my first fractal today. And I ran it to completion after getting the kite. So I guess ‘mission accomplished’ for them with respect to getting 1 person to try something outside their comfort zone.
I’m babbling. It’s late. Time for nap.
Yay, got it! :p
sigh or get there, and slide right off and die again.
Still having a good time, but ya’ll are testing me.
Ok how about an alternate route for crystal 10?
I just keep sliding off on the 2nd drop down. Tried all sorts of angles, with run disabled.
Edit: Nevermind (again)! You can get a lightning pull and get there from the last let of the light dash bridge.
Saw a note way at the bottom of Dulfy’s that recommended it.
(edited by notebene.3190)
I followed Dulfy’s guide, and I’m on crystal 6, and when I ‘jump down’ to that lower platform, I hit the platform (hurray for my sorta ok non-time-sensitive jumping skills!) but then I die. Apparently my paltry 17,442 health just isn’t enough.
Is there an alternate path for 6?
Nevermind! I think I got it. There’s a double-jump to get to one on a bamboo ‘thing’ below, and from the top of that, you can jump over to the platform to do 6 and 7.

I hate to ask a really dumb question, but where do I see these new armor pieces that you’re all talking about?
You can do this in the TS software itself. You set the capture and audio to your headset and leave the default audio on your system to the speakers and leave the game on default.
I don’t know off hand where you do it, as I’m not in front of my gaming computer, but its easy enough to do.
This is intended behavior, this is to prevent mini pets without underwater animations from being used or summoned in water.
I summon thee from the depths!
Wow, really?
You know some of us paid real money for these right?
And for me, the issue isn’t so much that it can’t swim anymore as not auto-summoning it again once we get ‘out’ of the water, making it a pain to use.
If you can’t do that, then just let it swim until you can figure out how to do that, as…hmm..oh yeah! Some of us paid ‘real’ money for them to at least be remotely functional.
But to continue in the same region, go to the waypoint in the Godslost swamp and head south though the circular portal thing. (I think it’s Swamplost Haven Waypoint)
This will take you to Kessex Hills. Do the heart here and head east.
To comment further, I disagree with the other posts who recommend checking out other 1-15 areas. You’re already ready for the next zone (maybe a little underleveled). The way experience works in the game, I think it’s more efficient to do content at your correct level. Plus it makes the story feel more natural.
I agree with this, especially if there are two of you and you aren’t alone. And that’s where you want to go into Kessex. If you go in by that town in the SW corner of Queensdale, that will seem higher. The mobs are maybe 17-18 through Godslost.
Like Yargesh says. For “best” results, bind it separately. Otherwise, having it checked, don’t be near a body to “Loot”, an npc to “Talk”/“Greet”/“Sell”, etc. anything that will pop-up that small text window telling you what you will do if you “Interact” with it.
Takes a bit to get used to but so glad they put this in.
Yeah, I finally got used to using it exactly this way, and I really like it. I wish it didn’t include a single Loot interact as something that overrides the AoE loot, but I can live with it, whether they choose to change how that works or not.
I sure hope they are hard to find (until someone finds it and writes a guide) and not hard to get to. Diving is diving. Jumping is jumping. Rock eaters eat rocks. Rock eaters don’t eat bars.
But as with all things, it will be what it is.
If it weren’t so loud and often, I’d agree. In the form that many of them take, it’s a bit grating. Maybe I’m just sensitive to sounds.
Like that one in Caledon, I think it is? I was there one time working on map completion and there was some person that was constantly yelling, in this horrible screechy voice. I think she turns you into animals? Ugh.
I’d rather have a visual than an audio. I don’t mind the audio where I’m participating. The problem is the area that they seem to let them play. Or maybe the volume, compared to other voice over? Like the civilians that ask for help to direct you to an event, that volume seems fine? “Hurry, there’s room in my bags for a few more!” while you are down waiting for Maw? Compared to other things, and the area, it just seems pretty loud and large is all.
They are bound to the item you put them on. If you get a better back piece later, and would like to transfer the look, you would use a Crystal to do it, if the source or destination piece is level 80, otherwise you’d use a Stone.
That overlay doesn’t interact with the game at all, at least the one I tried. I ended up not liking it because of it’s size and ‘how’ it sat on the window. It basically is designed to stay on top of the GW2 game (windowed mode), but it’s not like it’s an add-on. It doesn’t have focus. So when they tell you you can ‘right click’ on it to bring up this, that or the other, you really have to alt-tab to it (unless they changed how it works), and then you can interact with it.
But unlike the super-teleport-cheater-6000 thing that those people were using to pop around from node to node, and you’d see them dead in a rock from time to time, it isn’t interacting with the game client at all, other than to say “stay on top of this window”. It gets it’s information from the provided APIs, same as the web site, so I gather.
Now, if they deem that using it gives you an unfair advantage to accidentally die quicker than your opponent if you are accidentally alt-tabbed to it, though it wouldn’t look too different than not being, and you start mashing key strokes and nothing happens (much like seeing “wwwwwwwwwaaadddsss1111www11122 sorry” in chat from time to time), then I suppose it might give an unfair advantage to ‘not’ you who is attacking you.
Now, that was my experience with the very first edition of it. In fairness, it could have changed since then. I’d just as soon alt-tab and use the script for the audio notification, that suits me fine. What I’d really like is a mobile app.
I don’t suppose any of the US servers are going to do the Temple of Melandru this afternoon?
If we don’t show the event in the upper right hand corner, then we shouldn’t ‘hear’ any NPC or music related to that event.
Chef Alsdis and subsequent music…I’m looking at you.
You can assing a hotkey to the autoloot function. (I used the available ‘L’ wich stands for loot), then it doesnt matter what interact (F) is saying or doing, it will loot all loottable objects in the aoe distance.
Yeah, that works too, but I’ve gotten so used to mashing ‘F’ that I’m happy with that. And now that I know how that works, I’ve been able to make it second nature to hit F ‘in between’ things to good effect.
But I did map Alt-F as a back up.
That works.
My problem was not understanding that even if all the interaction is, is a ‘loot’ interaction, that still interferes with aoe loot.
Not terribly intuitive, and in hindsight, I can see why they do it, so you still have the option to just do one at a time while it’s on, I guess.
But at any rate, success, thank you!
Ok sorry, I got a chance to finally test this morning. It totally works. My bad.
I didn’t understand that it couldn’t even be the ‘loot’ interact that could interfere with it.
The patch notes mention: “…will only trigger the AoE Loot functionality while none of the forms of the interact dialog are visible…”. Perhaps you’re hovering your mouse over a lootable corpse when you hit F. Since the mouse-hover would pop an “Search” flag (a form of interact dialog), the AoE loot function would not trigger.
Wait…
So AoE loot is even superceded by the very thing auto AoE loot is supposed to work hand in hand with? They literally meant ‘any’ Interact dialog…including loot?
Well that’s not intuitive.
I’ll try that and see if that works, thank you!
Just keep in mind there is a seperate keybinding for AoE Loot that will always work, regardless of Interact prompts.
Which is great, and was option 2 (if you were crazy and didn’t find 1 useful).
But I was looking forward to 1.
I wish I had recorded a movie of this, but I just killed 2 Arctodus bears in Frostgorge and they each had loot. I have the AoE thing checked. They were literally right next to each other. I had to hit F twice. There was no other possible interact command with any other object near me at the time.
So long as what you transmute it to is not 80th level.
Any time either a source or destination is 80, you need a crystal. Otherwise, stone.
Edit: And I ‘always’ forget this when I plan. I wanted to put the Whispers legs and boots on my Elementalist, who happens to be Priory. So my Ranger, who is Whispers, bought the legs and boots for my Elementalist, and I figured that’d be 2 crystals, which isn’t so bad. But, I always forget it’s really ‘4’, b/c the Ranger needs to put them onto some whites to make them account bound and put them in the bank (using the white’s stats). That’s 2, b/c the source are both 80. The Elementalist takes them out and applies them to whatever exotic 80 armor she wants to (in this case, magic find gear). That’s 2 more crystals going from some < 80 whites to exotic…which are both 80.
Hmmmm….
1: Buy the item thats in the right order.
2: buy as cheap level 5 white item on the tp (or keep a drop) for 5 copper or so and use a transmutation crystal to transder the skin to.
3: place the level 5 accountbound item in the bank
4: use a 2th crystal to put the skin on an exotic item on the character you want it with.Still only 2 crystals used.
I had 2 items I needed to transmute in my example, which was lost in the example, sorry.
So I had to do your list…twice. Which was why I needed 4.
My edit was how I always mess up thinking that doing a cross-faction move will just cost me 1 per item, and I always forget that I have to do it twice per item.
On a total suck up side note, always appreciate your input in my own and others’ threads.
The whole thing seems kinda odd.
If the current interact is ‘loot’ for the (default) F key, meaning all the other rules have been exhausted (wherever rezzing, talking, etc fit in the hierarchy), then ‘loot’ is the current ‘interact’ winner.
Now that we know loot is the interact winner in a given moment. If you have the AoE checked, why does it not work then?
It doesn’t seem to be working for me.
I enabled the setting, which per the patch notes, would indicate I can ‘still’ just use the ‘Interact’ key (F) to interact with loot as I always do, but now it will pick up loot from monsters all within 900 ft.
I loot something, and another dead enemy two steps away is still sparkly, and I have to walk over and loot him as well.
Now, I asked this in map chat, and someone said I still have to map a special hot key just for AoE looting, but a) that’s not what the patch notes say and b) that would kinda seem to defeat the purpose of it (at least for some of us, since they gave the 2 options).
So what am I doing wrong?
This feature can be used by either:
Selecting a new “AoE Loot On Interact” option, which will use the same key binding as the “Interact” key but will only trigger the AoE Loot functionality while none of the forms of the interact dialog are visible.
Creating a new key binding named “AoE Loot” under the “Miscellaneous” section of the key bindings tab on the options panel.
Either.
So in theory, I check the AoE loot thing, and I can just hit F like I always have, and it loots everything? But then there’s the ‘only when it’s available’ caveat.
Well, it doesn’t seem to be working. I’m looting one thing at a time still. Now…if interact is up to loot ‘one’ thing, then why wouldn’t the area one be available, if I have plenty of bag space? The other body is maybe 3 ft away?
One of them is probably at the JP that goes live on July 2nd.
Hadn’t thought of that, and that might be in that new mountain which would be accessible from Gendarran.

I came out wondering the same thing on the Gendarran one. Perhaps you just need to visit the new dungeon, even if you don’t do the dungeon? Maybe that exposes it?
The 2nd one should be the one in the SE corner of Divinity’s Reach that was released a few weeks back. Dead End something? Part of that story. You can just walk up to that one and you get it.
me thinks you put in the wrong link…
Not at all. My Plush Griffon needs lessons.
Swimming lessons.
Because somebody, a few months back, decide Plush Griffon could no longer swim, because they didn’t give him proper animation. So he would either run in place underwater or glide.
Which…was deemed as ‘game breaking’ [?], or maybe it was ‘immersion breaking’ (which…don’t even get me started on that phrase, and talk about subjective), so they despawn the poor guy when you go swimming and he doesn’t respawn.
He’s the only pet that does that, and as such, he’s become kinda a drag. I paid gems for that guy in the TP too (since I made the doll, and you can only make one).
I’d like someone to give him swimming lessons. I don’t particularly care that he runs in place or glides. I … just can’t think of any good reason why they didn’t leave him alone. For those of us who have the Griffon, sure it was a bit silly he glided or ran in place, but he was still out pet, and he would still follow us anywhere. Now it’s swim, shore, open bag, double click, run, swim, shore, open bag, double click.
It’s starting to get a bit like buying cupcakes with candy.
I swear I think that cupcake vendor is my doctor. “Now, you just had 3 cupcakes. Are you ‘sure’ you should be eating another cupcake?” YES!
I know he was overpowered in WvW, stun-locking opponents and perma-invis.
I know he was able to heal far more than 5 people at a time with virtually no down time.
I know I could send him up jump puzzles to teleport me past content.
But for the love of [insert favorite deity or inanimate object], could we please, please, please get Plush Griffon some training?
Thank you.

Thanks again for " -useOldFoV".
Please keep that around.
They could just make the item reusable. Remove from collection, apply skin, put back in collection for future use.
That would solve the last problem.
Ok, so they can choose which is less development time!
1. 0 gem cost items that just sit in the store and unlock on achievement.
2. Collections tab for achievement-y type ‘stuff’ and makes items reusable (where required, like a skin).
I’d still like to see a skin ‘armory’ someday, where a skin becomes memorized like a dye once you use something as a source or destination. I won’t make any comment on whether that should be character or account wide, though I’m sure they’d pick the former (like dyes) and I wouldn’t fault them for that.
I agree with this in part. Why not make them as collection items in the bank like the minis? I would think that would save a lot of coding rather than having to alter the store and how it functions.
I wonder, would they have to alter the store much? They already have 0 gem items. The faux-doll and baseball cap were 0.
And what about the achievement requirement? Did everyone get the baseball cap, or only some people? Are there other things that are available in the store only to certain people? Like founders or people that play GW1? If there are, then they already have some sort of ‘hide when’ mechanism in place, no?
I like the idea, however, a new collections tab for these reward items would be easier to manage and would prevent cluttering up the gem store with 0 gem items.
Except collection tab has the same problem. Maybe not for some things. If it was a combination of a collection ‘and’ a new system where you learned the look of things like dyes, then it’d work.
But without the second part, putting those helmet skins in a collection would only be useful until you use it, then if you don’t like it, you are forced into an issue that the first responder had, which is a bummer.
If you could always just go pick it up again from the store, then you wouldn’t need a collection, and it would cover all types of things, even weapon and armor skins (if they don’t implement some sort of ‘dye like’ handling of those).
I have to agree with you in part. I used the dragon helm skin on my Guardian and found I absolutely hate the way it looks on him. So now I am in a quandary. The helm is slotted with a Superior Rune of Divinity currently going for over 9 gold on the TP. I could change the skin back but then I lose the skin which would work better on my warrior. If I replace the helm then I have an helm with a Superior rune of Divinity and a skin that no one else can use as it is soulbound plus I would have to spend over 9 gold for another rune for the new helm.
Decisions….
Well then you agree in full! :p
If you could just put another skin back over your awesome helmit, you’d know you’d have access to the helm later on, because it’s in the gem store…for 0. Just like the celebration baseball cap (though not sure if that is still there).
Come to think of it, I think any piece of armor that is used for a source or destination should have it’s ‘likeness’ placed in a gallery for reuse at any time, without having to go get another physical item that looks like that. Once you have one, you earned it. Like a dye. Whether they want to charge us a Crystal to apply it each time is totally up to them, I wouldn’t want to deprive them of a money maker. Having to get a new source is a hassle, and often costly (in game money).
Of course, that wouldn’t preclude the need for my other idea, as there are things like that book that we just don’t need in our inventory. If I want to watch the cut scene, I could buy it for 0 gems, watch it, then throw the book out in space and delete it, since I know I can get another one any time I want for 0 gems.
There’s no need to keep it if you have finished all the story achievements and received Marjory’s Journal.
Thanks!
Do we need it to fight pirates later? I did all the investigation steps?
Last time I asked a question like this on a holiday item, I got a real wishy washy answer, and I’m hoping to just get a ‘yes or no’ answer, and hope it’s based on some sort of real information.
Even during the event, I had an opportunity to get another one, so it seems like if they make us use it again, they will give us an opportunity for another one?
