I don’t have a ton of PvP experience myself, but one suggestion is to look on the forums for each different profession and look under the stickied threads about builds. You’ll find lots of different build types and most people are specific about what they’re using them for (PvP / WvW / PvE). Personally, I think warriors are much better than maybe they used to be, but with all the reading I’ve done on the professions it seems that mesmers and thieves are usually the best prof to have in PvP. However, I think it really depends on your play style as to how effective you will be with any particular professsion.

That’s not a bad idea, as long as you can still move around while charging. Standing still in one spot in PvP or WvW is not recommended any more than taking 5 seconds to kneel down and take aim!

I use my rifle all the time in PvE and it’s great there because NPC bad guys aren’t too smart. In PvP I think it’s useless. I agree with the OP that it’s underpowered and the kill shot takes a ludicrous amount of time for setup. In WvW it can have a purpose, but the LB is better suited.

Agree rifle is boring, too. I like the changes you’re suggesting. Interesting to see if any of them are picked up in future.

ATM I have many weapons that I choose from based on the situation, but I would really like the rifle to be more useful in all situations.

I currently have 2 level 80 characters. My first was a human necro, which I haven’t played for some time and is too squishy for my liking. My 2nd is a human warrior, which I am loving to bits. However, it really seems that you can’t have one toon do everything. Warrior is great is PvE, which is where I spend most of my time, but I want to do more in PvP and WvW, and I get my behind kicked pretty good in those arenas with my warrior (it is high DPS build). Granted, I know I need more 1v1 practice, and if you all think I can make that one character do it all, please tell me so.

I don’t mind making an alt for each PvP and WvW, but I also don’t really want to spend a month leveling up an alt to 80 and then finding it doesn’t work well, so I want to ak my fellow GW players to suggest the best classes/races/builds for PvP and WvW. Please hit me with your suggestions!

I know what can make this at least somewhat fair. Those that collected tokens but never used them to vote (not a single one) should not get the benefit of the perk (discount waypoint travel) and not be able to gain entry to the dungeon.

Don’t agree with you on the last part. It’s not my fault Anet did something silly. Why should I be punished for saving 100 out of 200 voting tickets? It’s not like we knew in advance they would pay us for leftovers.

Ya I do not understand why the tickets are worth something but the buttons aren’t. But TY Anet for the 1+ gold I got this morning on selling my leftover tickets. I did use over a hundred to vote but got bored after a while so just started saving them in my bank. I’m glad I didn’t delete… though I thought about it. I’m learning that in GW2 sometimes what appear to be useless items can get you a lot of coin (TY also for dragon coffers… cha-ching!). I agree with Raire, too. I think they will get no votes next time, as everyone will just keep the tickets. This really makes no sense at all. Who is in charge in that place??

I agree that a lot of content in GW2 seems to be geared toward the Facebook type games, which I personally do not enjoy. The only reason I want to do any of the new stuff is to get achievement points. I don’t want to play super mario or go in balloon rides or use fireworks. However, I think a lot of players DO enjoy that content, so ya, you can’t please everyone, but I think Anet is trying to cater to the majority maybe.

I love the new wallet. It just makes sense to be able to share gold/karma/dungeon rewards among all your characters. It saves from the game becoming more grindy, IMO. Having to go to a bank every time to share money/karma was a pain. Thank you for this Anet! Now we just need more town clothes to choose from. Seriously. The town clothes might as well be abolished altogether they are SO UGLY.

This I agree with. I have no issues with stuff being account bound, but if I spend my gold or actual cash for extra bag slots or what have you, I should be able to use that with any character that is mine. The soulbinding thing is not right.

I paid full price for the game and bought the $20 book. After that I ended up buying a better laptop, and I’ve spent maybe $60 on gems in the last year. I don’t regret it one bit. I totally love this game, and it’s the only one I play. I have no other hobbies. I work a lot and I’m finishing a business degree and an accounting designation. Playing GW is my release and I have a good job that pays more than enough to spend $20 on gems here and there.

I don’t think anyone should judge others on how they spend their money unless those people didn’t earn the money or maybe let their kids go hungry to buy gems! Personally, I don’t think it’s worth using gold or gems to get a legendary weapon, but hey, if that’s what your goal for the game is and you’re happy with it, then by all means, do it however you wish to.

Some people don’t seem to enjoy this game. Fair enough. If you’re not having fun, why are you here?

If you want to see what any armor or weapons look like on your character, search the items on the black lion trading post and do previews. You can do this at dungeon and karma merchants also. I did that for every armor before i purchased the one i decided looked best.

CoF path1 can be done in 20 mins

I suggest you do some online searches to find places. I use the GW2 wiki quite a bit. I have also found these forums and other players to be a great source of info and help. Consider joining a guild that likes to help players (the one i’m in s great).

As for wvw, i suggest you do follow a group…and the commander…unless you are great at pvp. There is nothing worse than being caught out by yourself wandering around and getting stomped! Basically i just attack bad guys when i can and always make sure to carry supplies to help build weapons and stuff. The idea is t take and hold points or towers or castles fr your server team. Just follow the character with the blue arrow over his head…you can find him easy on the map. He is the commander and should have a plan of attack.

Read these forums! I wish i had done so a lot earlier. I have learned more in a few weeks of reading the forums and participating in a good guild than i learned playing the game on my own for 8 months.

I have two characters at 80. I’ve been having a great time since I finally got into Orr and get to fight high level bad guys for awesome loot. If you want great drops, get into Orr and run with the raids that take temples. Loads of fun and high level drops. I also do a lot of roaming in high level areas so I can harvest everything for gold and get all the armor and weapons I want. I also started doing WvW and PvP, which I had never done before. Then there are the living world events which you can do for extra fun and to make things interesting. Really, this game never has to be a grind. Keep an open mind and try everything!

I suggest warrior as you can have a pretty good balance of offense and defence and you have a great set of ranged and melee weapons to use. I have tried almost every profession and i feel strongest with my warrior. She is nt invincible but she can hold her own in most situations and contributes a lot in dungeons and wvw.

Well i don’t know about TP flip, but i generate lots of coin by harvesting and killing everything and selling on the trading post when that provides a higher profit than merchants. Without dungeons and wvw there is no other way!

Is this your first 80? Then no.

It’s best to play the game through yourself to get a better feel for combat and your class, not to mention that it’ll unlock WPs along the way. You’ll also be doubly poor from leveling by crafting- in addition to being short on gold already thanks to the cost of crafting, your gear will also be nearly thirty levels outdated when you finish crafting, making it harder to earn gold to update your gear.

If you’re not enjoying playing your main, you may want to step back and ask if you really do enjoy the class.

I agree you should save up until level 80. Laurel trinkets cant’t be used until then anyway. And it never occurred to me until i saw someone post it but make sure you use a karma booster before you double click your jugs of karma because they’ll go a lot further then.

I’m sure there are guilds full of people who are unhelpful, but on the flipside, there are guilds full of people who ARE helpful. I sure don’t mind repeating things in the game, because I just like to play. It’s all fun.

Aside from that, I agree that one should not NEED assistance to comlplete anything in the game. I should be able to level up and do my story and get good loot all on my own, if that’s the way I choose to play.

I feel your pain. I find it incredibly frustrating to play sometimes because I really just wanted to solo the entire game, but it is impossible. Even in some PvE areas you cannot do things alone. There is one skill point I’m thinking of in particular where it’s protected by a champion asura. Not nice.

I have found a guild (more accurately, they found me) that is super helpful to everyone, and since I’ve joined it I have found the game much more playable, fun and satisfying. They will help anyone level up, complete a PS mission, finish a map, do jumping puzzles, do dungeons… you name it and they help. In turn, this has made me more aware of others needing help and so I now help other people rather than just ignore them.

I think that joining a guild is the way to go, and like another poster said, you don’t have to stay in it forever, but maybe you’ll like it enough to want to!

With lots of help from Doom (thank you!) this is my damage dealing human warrior female build. Using Valkyrie axe/Carrion Legionnaire mace and Valkyrie rifle, traits are 30/20/20/0/0. Using Knight armor for helm, pauldrons, gloves and boots; Berserker armor for chest and leggings (all transmuted to Vigil look).

I do moslty PvE and WvW.

Well I realized after that the pic I put up did not have the color updates, so here’s the most recent!

Here is my Rose. Human warrior. Used some Valkyrie and Berserker armor but transmuted everything to Vigil look. Her colors are rose – of course! – and white gold and steel.

I have tried all races but really don’t like the look of any of them except human and norn. So I found that even though I had one of everything I always just played my human. I liked the way the armor looked on humans the most, too. Maybe also I identify with the human so find it hard to really get into the role of the other races.

I just started a human ele called Aerwyna Yorke. She grew up a noble.

9/10 – super cute hair style

8/10 interesting to use Nix, but maybe too short. I like Eyrie a lot for the first name.

I have a human necro called Dalila Darkness; Dalila meaning gentle – so gentle darkness was what I was going for. Played her for about a year.
My new character is a human warrior called Rose Evilslayer. Simple, but I think Rose gives her a feminine touch even though she kicks butt.

This is still broken. I’m playing a human necromancer. I do the drinking game, follow the Charr and get the girl, kill all the bad pirates, and even kill the turrets, but it never completes. EVER. Please please fix this. I really want to continue my initiation in the Order of Whispers.
