Ya maybe the OP needs a speed boost or to learn the rotation better or set up WPs in his chat window to get there faster.

When I first tried Frostgorge train I was frustrated beyond belief because it moves really, really fast. I stayed away for a while but then went back on an early Saturday morning when there were just a couple people and they helped me learn the rotation. Once that was down, I traited my warrior for warrior sprint so I can run fast while carrying melee weapons. Bingo! I’m usually the first person or close to first at the champ. You will probably not keep up without a speed boost of some kind. Period. I don’t use AoEs (use rifle almost exclusively, switch to melee for running) and I’m rarely in a party and I always get loot.

About three days ago, wandering around mount maelstrom after killing the golem, looking for one more event to finish dailies, see an event to kill a random veteran in the middle of nowhere, a black moa bird which called mini moas as adds… kill it, a portal appears, teleported to an area I had never seen before which turned out to be a jumping puzzle.

And also last night when I finally managed to complete it.. (kept falling to my dead in the last part which meant I had to find another event to get back in)..

Might be old news to most, but it was a nice surprise for me..

YES, the Secret Garden JP. I found this also and died once falling from the top of the tree. It was fun to do and a beautiful spot in the game. An oasis of sorts!

Any tips for world completion?

I hear you. Map completion is my goal at the moment (uh, along with the occassional champ train for cash). I’m at 78% and am at the point where I’m completing one map at a time. What I find difficult is just sticking to hearts/POI’s/vistas. I am the person that has to gather and kill everything along the way, so it’s hard to finish a map quickly.

In Orr, don’t be afraid to /map ask for help for anything. Whenever I’m there I will help anyone, and would hope others would do the same for me. One time in particular I helped someone get the SP in the maze… another player also came to help. With the 3 of us it was quick. There are often roamers out there who also need this or that WP, SP, etc, so just ask! You can form a quick party and then go on your way.

Thanks to others who have posted some good tips in here! I’ll be needing the ones on WvW especially.

Perhaps a lot of mid-level players are doing the Queensdale train because they’re not a high enough level to do Frostgorge (60-70), but they can still get champ loot in known locations. Heaven knows Anet makes it hard to make any coin in this game, what with a few copper or silver for hearts… really… just might as well not even bother!

I’m 80 but do the Queensdale train once in a while if I need Krytan events for my dailies. The Frostgorge champs (other than Quaggon) aren’t events. The Queensdale champs (other than Spider) are. The loot from the Queensdale champs FAR pales in comparison so I only do that when I have to. Additionally, if I am in the train I’m helpful to others by res’ing them, and never complain if a champ was killed before I got there. Please, do not assume that every person is morally corrupt because they do the champ zerg. That’s not fair to 99% of the players.

If the lower lvl players want to do a champ, go for it and ignore or report any abusive responses from the train, OR conversely, they could wait a few minutes and join the zerg at the champ they want to kill. Nobody loses out anything.

Age range?

On a slightly unrelated note, I’m glad I’m not the only older person who plays this game

I think you’d be surprised how many “older” people play this. Personally, one of the things I truly enjoy about it is that you don’t have to fight other players if you don’t want to. Out in PvE-land, 99% of people are super helpful, which makes the game fun. I would never try an MMO that 1) charges a sub fee and 2) doesn’t have a loot sharing system and 3) encourages players to “hurt” other players or take their stuff.

Also, I’m terrible at video games (and using controllers), but seem to do very well in GW2. Using the keyboard and mouse seem natural to me… whereas my hubby is an Xbox fan and hates the keyboard/mouse so will not play GW2.

Anyway, the game is really pretty easy to play once you get the hang of it, and as a relaxtion-type TV replacement, I love it. I’ve talked to lots of other players my age and older.

I want to add that just as one should not think that the people who express themselves on the forums are indicitave of the whole player population, one should not extrapolate the chat of a few players on the map to represent them. I think most mature players just don’t chat or respond to silly or abusive remarks. Personally i am middle aged (44) and educated with a good job. I find this game to be a total release that i can play as carefree or as “intense” as i want.

Not me, I got mine to 80, decided I really wasn’t into it and shelved it. My first 80 as well sadly. I still dust him off occasionally.

Similar for me. I stopped playing my warr at level 75 when I got just too sick of it. That and the fact that I got sick of being the maverick dual-wielding axes when 99% of all warrs I saw running around were kitten -smacking with a GS.

Not everyone plays GS warrior. I use rifle and axe/mace. I didn’t find the GS that great, TBH. Sadly, the only legendary weapon I like the look of is twilight :p … so ya, no legendary for me.

Also you are puposefully trying to annoy other players which i feel is just as bad. It’s ok for you to be spiteful but not them? That makes no sense. Why don’t you just play the game and do what you want? If someone gives you a hard time or is mean to you for killing a champ, report them and move on.

I used to buy MF boosters but stopped since the luck thing was introduced. I’m at about 60% MF now and have gotten better drops and loot bags. This morning alone in about 20 mins of frostgorge farming i got two rares and an exotic. Had an exotic yesterday as well. Before the update i felt frustrated because i NEVER got anything good. Not sure if this is just typical RNG though.

Regular PVE kills seem same or maybe marginally better but that might be my own perception.

I’m sorry, but if I do the highest level heart, what do I get? Maybe 3s??? If I do an event, I often get nothing but a puny amount of karma. Where exactly should I get some in-game money? Nobody… ok, pretty much nobody… does the temples in Orr anymore. I wish they would. Those offer great loot and I found the few I did to be loads of fun. But there are very, very, very few times that I find anyone doing anything around the temples. And even if they are, they sure don’t talk about it. I map ask first thing if any events happening, and I never get a response. I am on Isle of Janthir server.

So, Frostgorge champ train and the odd world boss are the only ways I can get anything good. I don’t have a dungeon group. I hate jumping puzzles. PvP stuff can’t be used anywhere else or sold. WvW is ok once in a while but for me the WPs are too far from the action usually, which means if I die I have to run for 5 mins alone to try to get back to the fight, usually get murdered in the process by roaming PvPers.

So, I do not agree with this suggestion to nerf or limit champ loot. It’s fine as it is since nobody getting hurt. If you don’t want to participate, then don’t. Just like it’s my choice not to participate in other areas of the game that I don’t enjoy. Also, the stuff I salvage and sell on the TP is obviously needed/wanted, since it is purchased within moments of listing! So… maybe I’m helping other players and myself at the same time??!!

I love this game and use ANY spare time to play it.

That being said, if the developers come out with something that players don’t like, what better way is there to let them know than the forums? If we, as players, feel we should just go along with whatever they throw at us, Anet will not know if a LARGE percentage of the player base is unhappy and maybe contemplating leaving. Sure, most will not, and I would imagine that MOST of the time, it’s a very small percentage indeed that actually are that upset about changes.

I have made a few complaints myself, as I feel that… if I say nothing, maybe they will come out with more of the stuff I don’t like, which will eventually drive me away. Rest assured that Anet knows what to take seriously and what not to. I.E. many players (like myself) detest crafting for various reasons (or maybe you hate JPs or whatever). So yes, I complain about how boring it is. Anet will not change that because the majority of players like or don’t mind it or maybe the TP stuff is integral to the game. And on it goes. But if the MAJORITY of players come on here and say “wait, now I MUST craft to get the best weapons??!! OK, I’ve had it, this is too much”… well, maybe Anet will realize they’ve made an error in their assessment of the player base and maybe they will change it.

You don’t have to read all the complaint threads. They’re very apparent usually from the titles. But Anet SHOULD read them all and make assessments about game play and content accordingly.

I just want to add that regardless of whether or not you agree with champ farming, the people doing the farming need to take a breath once in a while and not go postal on other players that just happen to be playing the game (and NOT farming). If another group of players has killed a champ before you got there, just move on. No insults or whining are necessary. That’s probably one reason that farmers are getting a “bad rep”. Queensdale is especially bad for this I have found. The farmers are not in charge of how to play the game. Get over yourselves, please (and yes, I do farm champs myself, so don’t think I’m trying to pick on farmers in general – some are great, some are nasty).

Maybe they’re getting burnt out on trying to be a completionist in a game with thousands and thousands of hours of pve content alone, and likely as much to fill out your WvW and PvP achievements too.

If they can’t keep up with the hardcore super elite leaderboards crew… then they can’t. Your complaint is akin to competing in a national sports team, then saying you don’t think other teams should be able to train 40 hours a week because your team only wants to train for 10.

If they want to be competitive, they need to put up or shut up.

Ascended weapons issue

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: ozmaniandevil.6805

ozmaniandevil.6805

My feelings (take ’em or leave ’em):

I don’t really care about ascended weapons. I am not big into WvW, and what I use now (exotics) is more than enough for PvE and dungeons. So, I don’t plan on crafting any of these new weapons, and I highly doubt I will want the armor when it comes out.

My ISSUE: As loot I get a bunch of account bound stuff I do not want, taking up the space of something that maybe I could have sold for some gold or used in some other way. I feel that is kind of unfair; I am forced to collect stuff that is useless to me. I also don’t want to craft a legendary, but conversely, anything I collect that could be used for one of those is not account bound, so makes no difference to me one way or another. If I don’t plan on using ectos I can sell them – for a lot of money! What is the point of account bound crafting materials!!!????

There are so many, many things I love about this game. This is one thing I find I’m really getting upset about. Anyone else feel this way?

Warrior is everything you need. Trust me, with good gear at higher levels you’ll have great survivability. I have my build posted in the warrior section. I’m sure it’s not as high as a guardian, but to me it’s way more fun. The thing is, with all classes you still need to learn how to kite and dodge and use your weapons to your advantage (know when to swap and use skills, etc), as well as learn how to trait for your build. This may sound rather complicated at first but a little reading on the forums will help a lot.

I hope you have fun no matter which one you go with!

I definitely feel burnt out and I’ve only done two of these (Queen’s jubilee and Scarlett invasions). Personally, I feel like a drug addict. You get so many achievement points on the fleeting content it’s hard NOT to do it. But I have a full time job and school and family. I also hate to feel left out or feel like I’m falling behind, so I feel I have to to it, even if I’m not enjoying it. AND, to top it off, it’s often hard to tell what you’ve done. For instance, the 13 different invasions thing KILLED me. I ended up spending an entire Saturday waiting for ONE last map to come up. I hated the game by the end of the day…. seriously I was mad and ready to throw my computer out the window. It took ALL the fun out of it.

I totally understand that my own sense of HAVING to complete things is an issue I should deal with. But if I’m not going for achievement points then what? Legendaries? That’s even more of a grind that takes sometimes thousands of gold or hours. I love the game in general but I still need something to “go for”. But every two weeks is just too fast. Personally, I would like quarterly new actual content a lot more than the current “in and out like a bullet” system.

Fast ways to level up

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: ozmaniandevil.6805

ozmaniandevil.6805

As for crafting, I just did this with a level 14 mes, which I leveled to 80 only with crafting. However, it will NOT take one night, unless you want to “play” the longest night of your life. It will take at least an hour per discipline, and there’s 8, so… ya… I used up a whole weekend doing that basically. I finally gave up trying to figure out what I had in inventory and what I had to buy and just bought everything, because I got really sick of the whole experience.

I find that getting WPs and POIs add a lot more XP than most people think. Even without doing hearts, if you run around and get all the WP and POI and do a few dynamic events in between, you’ll level up pretty fast. A good thing to do if you don’t want to die a lot is do the major cities, as nothing in there is going to attack you but you’ll get lots of XP for hitting the vistas, WP and POI.

Some of us have lives…or at least would like to not feel like if we don’t play three hours a day we are going to really miss out (those invasions were WAY too time consuming).

Is it ok to skip crafting?

You definitely do not have to craft anything. I purchsed all my exotics with gold or karma. I found crafting boring and confusing but just decided to do it now for achievement points. I’m using gw2crafts.net and it is awesome and makes it way easier.

I did a lot of those invasion events. It definitely paid more to succeed the events than to just farm champs. However, being just one person, I found myself alone at the minion sites far too often so had to just tag along with the zerg killing pirates. Ah well, still made about 80 gold in the last week. I think maybe it might have made a difference if the achievements weren’t doled out unless you actually succeeded… though then again it might just have caused player strife between those that did care about achievements (like me) and those who didn’t. I dunno. At the end of the day I simply kept going to get the achievements even though it wasn’t fun after the first three invasions
