Speaking as the parent of a transgender child, I can’t express enough how awesome I think this is. I hope to see more minorities represented in all places, including video games.

FYI, transgender people have a tough, tough go of it in life. Simply being accepted as a person (getting a job, making friends, etc.), which comes so naturally to a large part of the population, is difficult at best for people who don’t “fit the norm”. Every advancement should be lauded.

I have to say I’m a little tepid about the Necro changes. I’ve mained a necro since the start. I can’t agree with the change to consume conditions. It feels really like necros are just constantly kitten for no reason. I really hope they re-balance these balance changes if needed. I’ll keep playing my Necro, regardless, but only because I don’t sPvP or do dungeons with her. People who do either or both of those will be pretty kittened I’m sure.

I think it’s obviously likely that at some point, HoT will go on sale. No one can say how soon after its launch. It’s going to be a trade off all the time. Pre-purchase will get you special perks but you pay full price. Waiting will likely, eventually, get you a better price, but you won’t get perks.

Have to agree with you. You could have just as easily bought the $50 copy and paid $10 extra for the slot if that’s really all you wanted it for. But you obviously wanted the shinies too. And you got all that.

Well November is famously when all games seem to be released. I’ll go with November. Christmas and all that.

OK, so I have not yet completed LS2. I absolutely hate the final part where you’re CC’d into oblivion for hours on end. So, will I need to finish it in order to enjoy HoT? Will my maps open up if I haven’t completed this??? Will I be able to do the new personal story in HoT without completing it? Because I really don’t want to.

I think this is a great way to repair some bad decision making and broken trust. I’m really heartened to see ANet actually listening. I still think the xpac is high priced, but I’m much more willing to purchase it now BECAUSE the company has done what I perceive to be the right thing. The unambiguous message is very good too, so going forward everyone knows what to expect.

Yeah, this is my issue. ANet honestly seems to try to “get away with” a lot of stuff and only backtrack once HUGE outrage is expressed, and then only sometimes. No trust here. None at all. You’ll be waiting a long time, my friend. I’ve seen them spew out platitudes like “we’re looking into it” over and over with not much resulting action.

That is true. There are unhappy people out there who can’t/don’t want to post. But it’s more likely that they will complain opposed to unhappy or indifferent people who never complain. Therefore the people you see complaining on the forums are a fraction of an already small fraction. Therefore they must be in the minority.

Even if it’s true why does it matter? why are you arguing with the players here?
The point of this topic is some players were unhappy with the whole pre-order deal for various reasons they are posting here to express them. Since you’re apparently happy with the deal it doesn’t negatively effect you the only outcomes that can occur are:
1. Anet changes something to give a better deal, in which case this is a boon to you.
2. Anet does nothing, in which case since you’re already happy it doesen’t effect you.

The only outcome is a potential positive change for you, so why pick fights with the people here for no reason? Their reasons are their own nothing you say will change that doesn’t matter if you don’t agree or think their reasons are false.

But the local minority who’s unhappy with this preorder deal is unhappy for all the wrong reasons and I want them to be happy. I actually want to help them. Also it can’t be said enough: if you’re not happy with the preorder, just don’t preorder. Wait until the game releases, watch some reviews, ask a friend who bought it etc.. People here act like Arenanet is holding a gun to their heads saying “Preorder or die”.

I’m not picking fights. I’m simply voicing my opinion like everyone else. I’m just one person with one opinion. Nothing more.

I wouldn’t go so far and say Arenanet is giving the finger to veteran players. They simply don’t treat veteran players preferentially because they (Arenanet) doesn’t feel like you’re something special for already owning the game. If you think you are something special for already owning the game than you can think that of course.

I’ll add my voice to this thread. I agree this is about the worst change I’ve seen and I don’t see what the H E double hockey sticks it balances.

Necro was my first GW2 character and I will continue to play her. I just finished my first set of ascended weapons and they are for my necro. However, I’m not a PvP’er and have never used her in dungeons. I play her in WvW and PvE (she rocks in SW and Orr). I’m sure that those who were hoping for more group utility are on the fence or outright disgruntled, and I don’t blame you. But hey, sometimes you just have to roll with the punches and work with what you have.

Yeah I’m not feeling the pain on this. I honestly think being able to buy LS episodes is a good thing. And so far, all you’ve had to do to ge them for free is log in once every two weeks, which takes just a few minutes (not seconds though cause you have to download those pesky game updates!). What makes me sad is that we’ve been in a total DROUGHT for content for months now. The lack of all content is not getting me hyped in the least for HoT. I think this is just another way ANet shows how little they pay attention to their current players at any given time.

+1 for the OP. I’ve seen nothing to make me think ANet cares one iota about the people who play the game. I could easily count a good half dozen reasons there’s a serious lack of trust in this community. Enough said. OP was RIGHT ON THE MONEY.

I don’t see a big deal with the newbies getting a bit more for the cost. They wont have the legendaries I have the skins I have the gold I have saved the AP titles etc.. I will be starting HOT with pretty much max everything and best gear possible while they will be lvling to reach HOT content I will already be completing it. Some of the things I have gotten will never be obtainable to the newer players and that is fine with me.

People continue to ignore the FACT that there are a lot of players who haven’t been around for the full 2.5 years the game has been out. Some people bought 2 months ago in anticipation of the xpac. I’m sure they don’t all have 50000 gold and 8 legendaries and they haven’t been able to play LS1 or LS2. This kicks them in the face way harder than the long time players.

I’ll just say one thing to the UK people. I’m in Canada, and have to pay USD. There is no CDN $ option. My dollar is now worth 80% of the US dollar. So my cost would be $60 – and no extra character slot – nothing. For $60. Ouch. No thanks. Might as well add that the Ultimate pre-buy pack would cost me $120 CDN. That’s TWO full size brand new games, or a really nice Coach purse :p

What I’ve seen advertized in xpac is not worth $50 in my opinion. Being in Canada means that’s about $60 for me. Will not be buying it.

Patience is the key. As the person above said, it’s merely a matter of how long you can hold the skins. They will always increase eventually. Dragon Jade skip ns are a perfect example. At one time so plentiful they were about 40g avg per skin. Look at them now.

OK fine, if you want me to make ascended, I can. But the reason I haven’t so far is that they keep changing traits, skills, stats, etc. Like, a lot. Like, seemingly every few months there are new metas, etc, etc. So… without changeable stats, I really don’t want to make ascended armor. Yet it will be more imperative to have it in WvW. I simply don’t want to waste my time and resources to make something that the game makers themselves will render less useful or maybe completely useless in a few months.

Still broken. Please fix.

I cannot agree more. I am getting really put off by the odd “material” they’re using to make these clothes/armors. I mean really, does nothing “fall” against the body? Like, NOTHING? I’m pretty tired of seeing huge clipping issues and large looking butts due to tent-like armors. But you know, I am voting with my wallet. I think that’s one reason I love, love, love the Carapace armor (heavy). It looks amazing, and doesn’t have the need to stick out all over the place. Please, I beg you, make some less poofy tent-like stiff plasticy armors/outfits.

I really think you should just wait a week, then buy off the traping post. The first week there aren’t many to buy, and people have no patience, so price is high. If you can wait a week or so the price will stabilize, probably well below 100g per skin.

sigh… oh well at least it doesn’t affect game play.

I had the issue as well, about a week ago when I created a new character.

Hi, this is a recent bug-glitch. I change my dye colors and as soon as I click ok to have the colors applied, the hero panel shows one color in too many places. See pic. My armor is not all dyed red. It is abyss, silver and red. This is happening on all my toons. In game it is as it should be, but the hero panel is not showing correctly. First pic is how it looks in hero panel. Second pic shows how it actually looks in game and how I applied the dyes.

Actually, I also find the password thing annoying. My husband was so annoyed on trying to find a password his is now about 30 chars long and contains many explitives cause he was so mad by the time he finally found one that the game LET him use.

But what really got me was GW1. I had to type in a character name. My first login, I totally forgot my character name and had to email support. Booo!

On the other hand, I like to think my gold is safe from hackers. It’s a trade off.

As for the limit on BL selling, meh. It’s not the end of the world. You really don’t have to wait long to start selling again. I sell as much as I can on TP, then run to vendor to get rid of vendor trash, then back to TP. I sell often rather than saving up, or if I save it up, I’ll do my selling on an early weekend morning when I’m having my coffee. Again, I understand why the thing is there, which probably tempers my frustration somewhat.

Yeah well he is probably missing Chantry of Secrets too :p

It’s the Chantry of Secrets in Blood tide Coast. If you haven’t been there, it does not show on the map. If you hover over the map and you don’t have it, it still shows 100%, even though you don’t have it!!! Go there. Be happy.

Doesn’t mean nobody won’t sell it to you …. I would bet that if you put a buy order at 3000g you are pretty much guaranteed that someone will sell it to you….probably even for less. However if you start farming now, the price might get much higher in the meantime. But also Halloween is coming and who knows …maybe they will reintroduce few of them back in the game so the price would go down a bit or a lot.

There just aren’t many left. It could be that there is only one for sale. There are any number of other skins in the game that you can’t buy anymore as they were limited release over 2 years ago.

Well I can’t argue with less hearts. In fact, no heart quests at all would be preferrable. The zones I enjoyed mapping were those without hearts. What more needs to even be said? But I can hear the cacophany of mad voices already… WE HAD TO DO HEARTS FOR MAP COMPLETION SO EVEYONE ELSE SHOULD FOR ALL ETERNITY!!!!

Heart quests IMHO are obnoxiously boring as they are.

I have over 2500 hours and still have no clue about these things other than sometimes I get lucky and use a finisher without even knowing how I did it. Great job on teaching players how to play ANet! But hey I can dodge for loot and use a sword.

On a more serious note, I honestly don’t know how you’d figure this out without a guild and some helpful people. Can I even make my own field and use a finisher at the same time? If not, how do I ask other players to help me learn? I can see it now.. the jeers and the “L2P noooob” comments will abound. And sorry, reading about this on wiki actually makes my head hurt and teaches me nothing about actually using the things.

Well Derigar regardless of how you came up with the suggestion, I think it’s a good one. I am personally bored to tears with the heart quests. They have never been interesting, and I’ve done them all at least 3 times or more now. I also have no idea of the lore of the game, so I think your ideas are a good way to actually make new players interested in it.

Regardless of whether or not the idea gets implemented, I thank you for throwing it out their for consideration.

I’m not suggesting a sheer gold conversion. Just something more useful than minis and tonics I have no interest in. I have stacks of obi shards. I have stacks of keys, etc. There just aren’t enough things to use the crests on that are really worth it. I spend my game time where I enjoy it, so why should I “move on”?

Hey all, just looking for opinions and ideas for Bandit Crests. I go to SW a lot. It’s the place I like to play most, because it takes teamwork and coordination, it’s fun and also rewarding. However, I am amassing a huge amount of bandit crests, and I’ve plumb run out of things to spend them on, since we only have so much to choose from. I have tons of keys and extractors, bought a mini, have all armor for all weights, etc etc.

I feel that spending 20s in addition to 25 crests for one rare bag is stupidly expensive, as are the other bags you can buy. I have all the recipes. I don’t use tonics.

So, what would you like to see available in addition to what’s already there, for us to spend our crests on? I’d like to see, for one thing, the coin cost of bags lowered, and the addition of things like ascended trinkets, T6 materials, dyes, etc. I mean, I just bought a mini today that I didn’t even want just to free up some bag space. I would really rather get something useful that doesn’t actually cost me as much as just buying it outright. What do you all think? Surely others must be facing the same thing as me.

Aaaahhh the butt cape. Ya, please, no more butt capes. They’re BAD. But I don’t for one moment expect ANet to give us a toggle on/off for those. No harm in asking I suppose, but.. no way it’s gonna happen.

I just want to point out to those people assuming way too much about others lives, it is quite possible that people who suffer from physical or mental disabilities play these kinds of games a lot. Therefore you just sound ridiculous telling others how to live their lives. Not everyone is able to go do the things you can. And hey if you play at all you have no reason to make anyone feel bad for also playing. Cause that’s just being a hypocrite.

For myself I think I’m around 2.5k hrs most of that before the NPE and trait changes.

Unfortunately this will not change. The people who buy keys and finally learn not to will always be replaced by new players who have no idea how dismal the outcomes are.

I don’t mind outfits, and will buy the ones I really like, but I’d personally just want to see as many armors added in game as there are outfits added in the gem store. There have been way more outfits added than in-game armors since release. This is just sad. But hey, armors in game don’t generate cash for ANet so I’m sure we all know why we see hardly any new armors but tons of new outfits, right?
