recognize my command!”
From what I understood (I could be wrong), was that the more players bought gems with gold, the price for gems bought with gold increased. But the more players that bought gems with cash, and converted to gold, the price for gems with gold went down.
It might be in an instance? not sure though, but no you don’t need to be a norn, or any specific race to get any of the points.
We managed to make it to page 2 (about a feature in game since launch), and not bring up the “need for mounts”? Yay.
…Yeah, seeing no need for this thread, since goldsinks gonna sink, on way or the other.
SHHHH!!!! glances around furtively Don’t say the “M” word….They will come…the horror….the horror….spins around and dashes off into the night
If, if, only I had a nice little horsie in this game……..
Or…. I know!!! Flying mounts!
THEY ARE HERE! RUN FOR YOUR LIVES!!
You’d better hide yo kids, hide yo wife, cause they be QQing about mounts to everbody out here. So run and tell THAT homeboy!!!
Lol. You made me laugh when I was drinking my soda and now I have to clean my keyboard.
LOL!! Thats awesome!!!
There is another thread about this very issue already. As its been stated there, take a screen shot of the party at the very beginning of run, and use that to report.
oh I understand what the OP is saying. But what I don’t understand is how this game can be considered “pay to win” at all. The watchwork pick give a chance at finding sprockets. So with every node mined, you have a chance at getting 3s+ (current TP prices for spockets). How is that “Pay to win”? so you get a few extra silver from mining. So in the long run, you get a bit more gold quicker, which means you can buy what? more vanity items faster? If you are spending you time mining to get gold, you are doing it wrong, as it will take forever, and even longer just to make back the gold converted to gems for the pick, or to make up for the cash spent for the gems. Over a LONG period of time, you might actually make up the difference, but it is no way “Pay to win”, as there is no “pay to win” mechanic in this game at all.
So you want to be able to whisper and harrass another player for kicking you from a party? Yeah no…the party isn’t obligated to inform you of their reasons for kicking, and most of the time, if leaders kick, another will simply click yes, just because it’s there without knowing why either. Yeah, making a way to harass other players is not ok, and can and will get people banned, or suspended. Just no.
Chances of a new race on July 1st are going to be a period (.) followed by several zeroes (0), followed by a one (1), finishing with a percent sign (%).
It will look something like this: .000000001%
So the chances of a new race are equal to the drop rate of a precurser? hmmm interesting :P

I can’t believe the OP is still crying about this. You bought something and then later something better came out. Your original pick still does what it was advertised as being able to do. The new pick does what it was advertised to do. The game is already pay to win, this pick changes nothing. Anet should close this beaten dead horse of a thread already.
Pay to win? Seriously? Unless you consider “winning” by having all the fabulous outfites/minis/hair styles/instruments/etc. that do absolutly NOTHING to make your character better, or give an advantage over other players. The yes, this is Pay to win. Otherwise it has never been pay to win, and never will be. As the gems store items are COSMETIC vanity items. (with the exception of the boosters, but a limited time for a meager buff can hardly be considered a game breaking advantage).
This is a fairly common problem, that isn’t limited to speaking on a VOIP client. Most everyone has problems with speaking in front of other people, expecially those that they don’t know. So don’t be too worried about it. The ONLY way to get better, and more comfortable, is to just do it. I’ve been a public speaker in the past, speaking before groups of up to 500 people. It is nerve wracking at first, but it does get easier. Now I understand that a VOIP client is different than being a single speaker in a room of 100+ people, but many of the same principles apply. If you feel you have something worth saying, just speak up. No one is going to laugh or make fun of you. And in just speaking up, you will feel more confident in your ability to speak in front of others, and become more and more comfortable doing so in the future. Just don’t hold back. It’s like the song says “You’ll never shine if you don’t glow”.
Good luck!!

I’m glad OP is speaking for the doctors, firefighters, and security guards who apparently work 24hrs/day. I assure you people in professions that take up their entire day are not playing MMOs, and if they are, they are certainly doing it extremely casually and could care less about achievement points. Firefighters and security guards have down time. Firefighters especially since they sit in the firehouse killing time until they get “the call”. Security guards work shifts like any normal person.
Doctors are the only anomaly because they could be on-call, but doctors aren’t complaining about achievement points, of that I’m certain.
I really don’t understand why OP finds the AP system to have a problem. If you play more you get more AP on average, if you play less you get less AP on average. How is that anything but fair.
As a security guard I can assure you, we are not allowed to work more than 12hrs a day, we work 8 hour shifts, and only 12 to cover for someone who couldn’t make it in (called in sick etc.). The same 40 hours as every other normal working person. As far as down time? Yes I have at least 6.5 hours of down time a day while at work. (It’s a super easy job, and boring as kitten) Now if I could use that down time to play, I most certainly would, but I can’t. Instead I spend all day here on the forums. It helps pass the time.

Simple solution, don’t stay in a group with more than one person with the same guild tag. I make it a habit to check guild tags and quit groups like that immediately. Too much hassle to deal with. Either they play a certain way and expect everyone else to mind read and follow, or you get shenanigans like this kick and replace for a guildie at the last minute. Pugs should be pugs…not some partial guild run looking to take advantage. Better to start over immediately than deal with wasted time and no reward at the end.
I’m constantly scanning pug groups I join for warning signs to bail (extremely low dps, obvious signs that the rest of the group is on voice chat instead of in-game chat, more than one with the same guild tag, bad weapon choice, buffs indicating low dps builds, notoriously bad classes for fractals). Learn the warning signs and what you are willing to tolerate and your pug experience will get better.
I have to disagree (with an exception). When some of our guildies get together for dungeon/fractal runs every now and then. It’s usually 2-3 of us, and will pug for the extra(s) as needed. In rare cases have I seen a kick, even if they are horribad. We certainly don’t kick in favor of a guildie at the end. If guildie wants to run with us, they are going to have to wait until we finish run. Period. However, my exception being one paticular guildie (with whom I’ll never do another run with) got kick happy midway through dungeon and was kicking Engi on sight, those under level 80, for being new to the dungeon, etc. (and this was my “ANY WELCOME” LFG until he changed it after the 3rd round of people kicked.) This was definetly not ok, and I called him out in guild chat, and intend to have a talk with an officer/guild leader about it.
I understand not all people are going to be cool like my dungeon running group, and that more tend to be like the kitten guildie who got kick happy, but I do feel that the current system is fine. Just report them, and also try to find their guild leader and report to them as well. Most guild leaders (especially of the larger guilds) tend to be much cooler, and won’t tolerate that kind of behavior as it reflects really badly against the guild as a whole.
After my first character, I just go with default everything. You really don’t get to see all the nuances of your character will the addition of armor anyway. But hey some people care about such things. I’m not one of them.
jesus christ it’s like everyone in this game is gold-driven ¬_¬
Yeah pretty much. More gold = more shinies = more people will look at me = low self esteem = daddy issues = no body loves me. Thus more gold == people will love me.
The sad part is this translates exactly the same in RL. Which is why the current generation of stupid people is progessivly getting stupider and why western culture sucks and a zombie apocalypse or major natural disaster is what we need so we can wake up and stop being so petty and useless as human beings and perhaps be the men and women we were meant to be and take life by the horns and become something more than whiny little prats about stupid stuff that doesnt matter.
(Ok done ranting, just had to get that off my chest.)

OK hammer is a good start, what is your weapon swap set? And what utilities are you currently using?
Also go to gw2skill.net and enter in what gear, weapons, traits etc. You are currently using. That’ll help us a lot.

Cloth needs to have a gathering function, similar to ore and wood. It’s really that simple. Since most cloth sources come from either an animal or plant, it wouldn’t be too unrealistic to use the sickle as it’s gathering tool.
Edit: (Had to grab this from my other post a few months back)
Examples:
Jute – Is made from a vegetable fiber. Add some plant nodes to the world, which can be harvested with the existing scythes, which give us jute scraps when harvested.
Wool – Comes from various animals. Technically ‘wool’ is from sheep, but goats and rabbits would suffice too. This might require an additional harvesting tool (sheers), although the scythe might work, but sheep and rabbits exist in the game already. Maybe make some of them into harvest-able ‘nodes’ and let us sheer some wool scraps from them.
Cotton – Also a plant. Would work similarly to jute.
Linen – Again, also a plant. Comes from the flax plant, so again could work like jute.
Silk – Comes from insect cocoons, typically the best known comes from a moth, but fro game purposes there are any number of furflies, and such which could potentially offer ‘cocoons’ for collecting.
Gossamer – The definition of this is ‘a spider’s web’ or ‘a very light, delicate material,’ so let us harvest it from certain spider’s webs.
Interesting. While the only one that I can see being viable for gathering is cotton, it doesn’t make sense to be able to “gather” cloth. Yes, some of those cloth scraps are made from plant materials, there is still a bunch of refinement needed to make it into cloth. I like the idea that you can’t gather cloth bits, and yes it does make the cloth for crafting very exspenive, but it works. However I do think that adding full bolts as drops would be a better alternative, than making it gatherable, or even increasing the drop rate.
What weapon sets are you using? knowing that will help a lot in how to trait do be effective.
gyökér: Actual meaning: Root.
However it appears that it can also be used as a term for jerk, loser, freak etc.
In the context that the OP is talking about, and from a more “socialistic” world view, (as this term is hungarian and/or russian) his point actually makes sense. However even with such a world view, hard work is still rewarded accordingly but those who don’t/can’t work as hard can still reap “some” of the benefits of the harder worker.
I am not agreeing with the OP at all, but now what he is suggesting actually makes a bit more sense, and from where it is coming from.
I’ve been hearing more and more about this issue. It bothers me. I don’t normally kick except for long absences AFK with no warning before hand. Its more of a social and entitlement issue more than anything. And there isn’t much you can do, other than screen shot before run, and report, and open the instance before hand, so if you do get kicked at the end, everybody loses. I don’t know how effective the “LFG abuse” reporting is, but if it’s anything like gold selling or bot reporting, it should get dealt with swiftly.
I just don’t get the why though. If your guildie is too lazy, or not available to do the run at that time, too bad. Although I like many of my guildies, I wouldn’t kick someone at the end just to bring them in for the reward. Heck, I wouldn’t do it for my wife (when shes gets to that point). In fact there are some guildies I won’t run a dungeon/fractal with, and would probably kick if they randomly joined my pug.
Some people spend more time playing the game so they have more achievement points. Some people spend more time working so they have more money. Why do you thinking the working individuals are being treated unfairly? If they value GW2 achievement points more than money then they should quit their jobs.
And talk to a psychiatrist, because something is seriously wrong if they value an arbitrary number more than making a living. :P
Hospital from what I understand.
T6 blood is used to craft all Berserker Equipment…..thus the constant (and possibly increasing) demand.
No wonder it’s so dang high! I’m working toward my legendary, and the T6 blood is killing my pocket book. Even with buy orders it’s still 50s+ per. But I’m still plugging away.
Great advice Equinox! And I am all about experimentation and trying stuff out myself, I usually “work within the system” in games to find a balance between the meta game and my own personal flair.
And hey!
Another complete “noob” question here:
So, season 1 “living story”….. Do I still have full access to this content until Season 2 drops? I have been having trouble figuring this one out.
Currently you do not have access to ANY season 1 events, with the exception of the current events going on now. (The queens pavillion and the Bazaar). However Anet has expressed that they would like to be able to add season 1 to the new journal system to be replayed, but it won’t be available at launch of season 2, and may not even be implemented due to technical and mechanical issues and the way that the season worked.
Season 1 content was all temporary. If you were not there for that episode, you missed it forever. Thus the change with season 2 and the Journal.
Thats what I feared, that is unfortunate, I hope that the Season 1 content makes its way to becoming available to late adopters such as myself at some point
.
You weren’t really missing much. You can read the story if thats really what you are after, but as far as the events, most were awful zerg fests. Although I did like the story, the villian was lacking at best, and most of the events I did, I only did them to figure out the story line and then left, because I didn’t find them fun. Many people agree that the whole season 1 was badly designed and horribly flawed.
I suppose so, I just feel like I missed out on some pretty signifigant events pertaining to the story and overall lore of the world, I am a nerd, and enjoy experiencing these things first hand.
Ah well, I should be leveled up by the time Season 2 hits anyways, looking forward to the new goodies then!
Don’t worry, eventually it should be available to everyone (probably for a small price) via the Story Journal. But that won’t be for a while.
If even at all. I know its been said they “want to”, “hope to be able to” and “will” in an interview, but they said the same thing about precurser crafting, guild halls, player housing, and expansions. I don’t take it as a promise, but something that is “not off the table” as Anet is fond of saying. We will only know if/when it does get re-released is when an announcement is made 2 weeks before its released.
snipety snip
It’s just a weird spot to become kickhappy in as when you got 2 competent players (I assume) the other 3 can actively try to sabotage and it would still be nearly impossible to fail.
Oh I agree, I think he was just being a kitten, and felt that he needed to have the best possible group in order to do it perfectly. But for future runs, I won’t be bringing him along :P

“The person who works/invests more time…gets more shinies. This rule applies real life also.”
Yes. It is true. So it is necessary, that this injustice isn’t in this game. I can see you are a conservative, OLD gamer, I wish you, that in this game change nothing through 2 years.
bye gyökér
How is working hard and being rewarded accordingly an “injustice”!? If you don’t work hard and get everything handed to you, THAT is the injustice.

This is definitely MASSIVE
Vote for Kiel again to counter this!
why the heck would you vote for kiel again? This happened under Kiel’s watch.
If anything, vote against Kiel for introducing this measure.
Kiel is always to blame for everything ever.
The devs said so.
I’m confused. Why do we want a nerf to the Watchwork pick? People paid the gems to get it, if some only for the reason to be able to harvest sprokets as well. Please enlighten me. What needs to be nerfed about it and why.
Well I don’t know if he needed to be carried, but it didn’t help he kicked our ele the first time, because he wasn’t level 80, was trying to have the new players to the dungeon kite, and just being a general kitten. I had expected more from a guildie but I guess I was wrong.
Maybe it’s me, but I’ve never had a problem with commanders in PvE. It’s nice to see someone at least attempting to organize some of the events, even if I have run them 1500 times before. I’ve noticed a variation in tactics from different commanders, and happily go where directed just to change things up a bit. I always appreciate a “good job” or “well done” from someone, commander or not, when completing an event. It’s nice to be acknowleged.
Heres a suggestion. If you don’t like following commanders, and have something against “bad” or “troll” commanders, don’t follow them. Put them on your ignore list so you don’t have to see them in chat, adn carry on about your business. It’s really not that big of a deal.
Call me a “noob”, “bad player”, “stupid doo doo head” whatever, I like Axe/Axe for PvE. Especially for groups of mobs. Axe 5 burns through them quickly. Yes I know it’s not as much DPS as Axe AA, but hitting 5 targets at the same time doing 5k damage to each, WHILE dodging is super fun. Plus makes some great combos finishers in the various combo fields. (poison/cleasing/blinding/fire/healing/brutal/confusion bolts, to name a few)
Ran a pug group with one guildie last night. Kept failing Defend Hodges in AC p1. Guildie was kicking people left and right, kicked some engis on sight, on MY “Any Welcome” LFG. Then changed the LFG to “exp 80 speed run”. I almost left at that point. We managed to get through it. Barely.
On the bright side though, I ran another pug (without said guildie) for AC P3 and did rather well, ended up staying with 2 from the group to go on and do 4 more runs. Ended up with a guild invite and some new friends

What they said.

" It takes 10-15 minutes to get the first daily done. So for an extra 10-15 minutes a day a new player can get double the points. How is this fair?"
Man, Can you all 12 daily do in 15 minutes? I don’t dispose. And if you get a new 20 daily list, you don’t in 10-15 minutes, for example daily fractal runner.
“All the “older” players who had to spend the time doing all the dailies each day for 2 years would feel cheated and would say that the new system is “unfair”.”
I mean, you have lots of achievement points and you want other players haven’t lot of, OK. The old gamers play more and get the achievement points, but in this new AP system must to do the daily for achievement points. If you want so much achievement point as old gamer, when you must to do so much daily. You play so much.
In other games, for example wow, if you are a new gamer and play hard, then you will have as many achievement points, because there is equal opportunity. However in this game if you don’t play from beginning… This is incorrect. Protect your lot of achevement points! I knew part of old gamer will attack and get negative flak, but I don’t mean, the casual gamers get a possibility, they use or not. why don’t no matter?
If I understand what you are saying, is that this current system is “unfair” because new players don’t have the same opportunities to get the same AP as an older player? While this may be true, as new players missed the AP from all the LS season 1 events, as it’s been said, Anet wants to bring back LS season 1 and all the AP that goes with it. So if/when Season 1 gets implemented ALL players will have an equal opportunity to get all the same AP. So changing the current system to allow for multiple daily/monthly achievements per day/month wouldn’t help anything, or make the playing field more level. All it would do is allow new players to get more easy AP faster, and alienate older players who had to put in the time and effort to get there. So by harming your older player base, you would reward the new players. This is in no way “fair” and would possibly drive away many of the older AP players, who are also many of the games heavier gem store investors.
" I have just under 5k AP in my 1.5 years in the game." Then you are a casual gamer.
" My wife who just started playing last week should not be given 5k AP without doing anything Just so she can “get caught up”. Just no…" Can your wife doing 5000 daily for 5000 achievement points?
The AP making isn’t easier, you must do all first daily, then you will get a new list, but if you want more daily achivement points then… You must complete same challenge as the old gamers. It isn’t easier, only a possibility, as a living story. What is more the living story achievements will be posteriorly achievable. Why isn’t possible past daily and monthly achievements?
So give the option of getting multiple daily and multiple monthy achievements a day/month so “new players can get caught up”? It takes 10-15 minutes to get the first daily done. So for an extra 10-15 minutes a day a new player can get double the points. How is this fair? All the “older” players who had to spend the time doing all the dailies each day for 2 years would feel cheated and would say that the new system is “unfair”. It’s unfair to give new players an advantage over players who have worked hard, put in the time and effort to get to where they are. All the higher AP players will only be able to get so much after they cap out dailies and monthlies, and one time ones, and will only have the LS to gain AP from. The newer players coming on will be able to catch up eventually, as they do the LS ones, and all the one time achievments. (i.e slayer, weapon master etc.)
Just because a new player isn’t at the same level of an older player doesn’t mean its unfair. My wife could be at the same level I am if I could have convinced her to start playing sooner. It’s completely fair as it is. Those who signed on earlier have more because they’ve been playing longer. A new player still has the SAME opportunities (actually an easier opportunity with the way many of the things have been nerfed and changed since launch) to get those AP. They just need to work, just like we did, to get there.
And yes I am a casual player, but I’m not QQing about other players having more AP than me, because they started earlier, and were able to do all of LS season 1, where I was unable to do about half of it.
If inflation were an issue I’d think we’d see drastic price increases in common commodities.
Well to be fair there have been drastic increases in price in pretty much every common commodity over the past 12 months. Just expand pretty much any mat to a full year and you’ll notice everything has doubled or tripled in price.
T6 Blood: Doubled in price over last 12 months.
Totems: Doubled in price
Ectos: Doubled in price
All tiers of cloth: 5x increase in price
All tiers of metal: 3-10x increaseI could go on, but pretty much every mat I clicked on has doubled or more in price. The only mat I could find that was unaffected was lodestones, they seem immune to the change.
I don’t know if that means there is inflation or not, I won’t make that call, but prices have certainly seen a steep increase on almost all mats over the past year.
All except jewels and orbs, leather, wood, mithril, Almost all of the cooking mats, (I actually think omnom berries went down, but not sure). Most of the mats that have dramatic price increases are those used for Ascended and legendary crafting. Because they are in a lot more demand than they were a year ago. The supply has pretty much remained constant, but the demand has gone way up, the the higher prices to those mats. If there were no use for them beyond exotic crafting, prices would be much lower then they are currently.
I’m still waiting for the recipe to make a Porous Bone armor set for my necro.
that would be cool. But how would it be light armor? Bone dust? or better yet BLOODSTONE DUST!!!!
So wait, you want Anet to hand out (Make easier) AP for those just getting into the game so they have a chance to feel special on the leader boards, and in doing so negating all the hard work that people have put in to reach 40k AP? Ummm no. I have just under 5k AP in my 1.5 years in the game. My wife who just started playing last week should not be given 5k AP without doing anything Just so she can “get caught up”. Just no…
PvF is basically tower defense – you have unending waves of PHYWs bearing down on our elitist fortifications and we have to fend off their infestation while being given brief respites before another wave of anti-stackers appear in view.
That is AWESOME! It made me laugh
LOL
I thought the “Affordable Care Act” was supposed to take care of that? (That is if you are in the US)
The only way to irrevocably “kitten” your character would be to click the “Delete” button on the character select screen, type in the characters name and click “Delete” again. Other than that is to get yourself a perma ban by doing illegal stuff in the game, but than it’s not just the character, but the account.
In otherwords, No theres nothing you can do to “kitten” your character.
Might want to get that cough check out. Sounds bad.
But yes that could be A reason, but even with the merge it’s still not hard to do the 5 needed for a laurel.
“In the feature pack, we will be unifying daily and monthly achievements. With new systems like the Wardrobe, Gear Unification, and Reward Tracks coming online to help create a consistent experience across different areas of the game, we felt that having separate daily and monthly achievement categories was unnecessary and potentially confusing…The PvP and PvE daily and monthly achievements will be merged. There will be enough achievements that you will be able to complete your dailies and monthlies entirely in PvE, WvW, or PvP if you like – but you can also dabble in different game modes and complete your achievements by playing a mix of content.”
I believe this is why they were merged.
If there is no more money coming in then eventually, through gold sinks and accounts with gold in the bank no longer playing, there will be an extreme deficit of gold in the economy. ANet can stave this off by 2 ways
1) eliminate all gold sinks.
2) after an account has not been logged on for a while the account is considered dead. ANet then strips the account and sends all gold and items to guild members. Accounts without a guild will have an estate sale. The other option is to keep things the way they are now.
concerning #2: Ummm no. Lets say such an account is a soldier sent overseas, and is unable to play for X amount of time while he/she is away. They are punished, their account stripped, and deleted. So upon return, they fire up Gw2, looking forward to picking up where they left off, and glad that there is no sub fee and can do just that, only to find that they have to create a whole new account and start over from scratch. That is only one possible scenario. Doing something like this to their customer base would be way out of line. Even sub based games have the option of continuing where you left off if you stop paying the sub for a long time. Yeah, terrible idea.
The other option on the otherhand, keeping it as is…the best idea on this thread!
Yeah killing 10 enemies in WvW isn’t hard, and I am TERRIBAD at WvW. As long as you can tag, and they go down, you still get credit IIRC. I can understand wanting to do ALL the dailies for the AP, but if you are doing other WvW dailies anyway, it shouldn’t be much of an issue getting those kills. If anything just camp at a fort and defend when the zerg comes around.
They are damaged and lost artifacts from The Forgotten. When 250 of them are combined in the Mystic Forge with 250 globs of ecto, 150 mystic clovers, and 150 Mystic stones it gives you Legendary accessory “The Forgotten” Which procs a transformation into a Forgotten every 30s upon crit and doubles all your current stats.
What is the requirements for WvW defender? I don’t really do the WvW ones myself…
Yeah, this doesn’t really make much sense. The economy isn’t broken, inflation isn’t to a point where dramatic changes need to happen, and for every gold sink, you need to have a gold faucet. (The gold must flow) If every gold faucet is removed, as said before, gold will eventually be gone, or become totally useless, as a barter system will replace it. I agree it does appear that inflation is an issue, especially in the rising costs of T6 mats, but I feel that largely due to the higher demand. 1 year ago T6 was at a decent price, but has gone up considerably since. Why is that? More people are making legendaries, or multiple legendaries than they were 1 year ago. T6 mats are much more in demand now, thus the prices going up. Silk prices are the same way. Silk was/is WAY too common because there were few uses for it. Introduce Ascended crafting. you need at least 300 bolts per piece (at least for heavy). More people are now crafting Ascended armor as end game, thus silk is much more in demand, and the prices rise accordingly. The same thing will happen to jewels if/when jeweler goes up to 500.
P2P trading has been discussed at length in several other threads. I’ll just say its not a good idea and leave it at that.
