recognize my command!”
Nice! However does this work with soulbound runes not on equipment? I found 2 superior runes of the forgeman the other night, and would like them on another character. Also this sounds like either a bug or an exploit. Do you have confirmation that this is neither of those? Id hate to do it and have an infraction. (Also to help you OP, because if this is either of those, this thread will be closed and you could also be liable for an infraction)
there is no reason for them not to be used
There are an absolute crapload of portals, all over a lot of the maps, that have been there since launch, and have never been used.
I wouldn’t put it past Anet to actually not use the ones we have and just hamfist a new one in somewhere…
Well yeah. It makes sense to have a portal already in place to a future new zone. Just slap a map at the other end of it, and BAM! you’re ready to roll. Otherwise you’d have to redesign the area around the portal to put one in when needed. So why not just have pre made portals everywhere?
I suppose Anet COULD just “hamfist” them in, but if they already have them it would be incrediably stupid NOT to use it.
I never thought about dungeon armor insignias for crafting!! Brilliant!
Honestly I think there’s a calling for therapists who specialize in getting people to leave MMOs they no longer like but can’t leave for some reason.
I agree with the whole post, just wanted to point out this portion.
There is a Center for Net addictions. You can read about it Here.
I think burst gap closing skills like that automatically target nearest enemy, I could be wrong, but I’ve noticed it on my warrior with the sword leap, and GS 5 too.
Maybe…put on your tinfoil hats for this…its just a random picture of a portal with a jungle theme. The path we see in the portal doesn’t actually lead anywhere, and the vines…they are just vines.
Seriously though. There are a couple of portals within the Brisban Wildlands and there is no reason for them not to be used, as we are almost certain thats where we are going to go next.
There’s the item that allow you to access the bank at any time which is quite expensive for a reason : it’s very RNG based, you get it in black lion chest, that means gems, that means loads of IG money or real life money, and it’s very rare.
I assume you are talking about Black Lion Keys yes? I have yet to buy gems for keys because keys can be farmed easily. I keep an extra character slot to do just that. Roll up a human commoner, any class, and do PS until level 10. 100% key drop for completion. Drop key in bank via free banker golem, delete character and repeat. takes about 15 min. per key in a group, and about 20-25 solo. You’ll never have to buy keys again!
On topic however. I don’t see the use other that saving a few moments. We have all the tools we need to quickly transfer items between characters as it is. Even making it a gem store item will cause more people to rage that Anet is pushing the gem store, and is a greedy/evil company. Adding this, I feel, is redundant and useless.
Edit: Just to clarify for anyone concerned about the above method for obtaining keys. It is stated VERY clearly that it is NOT an exploit, thus not a bannable offence.

@Flipyap
Oh I agree, thats why I didn’t bring them up in my post. And I also agree about the Inquest, studying is not worshiping or following. They seek to use dragon energy for some of their means, but that doesn’t mean they are minions, or followers.
Yeah GS is great, it offers alot of mobility and can burn through mobs quickly. I personally like axe/axe though with the Rending Strikes trait. (chance to add Vuln on crit.) For PvE, anything is fine really, it’s getting into groups where you want to have more of a “build”, and currently Beserker is the favorite.
I am assuming by Mothermooth you are refering to Mordremoth, And the Burning Legion is the flame legion? I’ts probably a translation issue, but I get it.
However, the Flame (or burning if you prefer) Legion predates the latest awakening of Primordus by at least 300 years, and from what we can tell the Charr weren’t around yet during its previous awakening. Also about the Nightmare Court. Although its been speculated and discussed at length that the Silvari are Dragon minions (Mordremoths) there really is no evidence to support it. The Nightmare Court still wishes to fight the Elder Dragons, but believe that the teachings of Ventari are holding them back from doing so and have chosen a darker path to achieve those ends. The Branded are like Zhaitans undead. It’s Kralktoriks form of corruption, they aren’t really minions (in the strict sense) and not exactly followers. Where the Asura are concerned, I don’t see the colleges, or the inquest, following ANY dragons as they already experienced firsthand the destruction they can cause. After having much of their race and homeland destroyed, they would be VERY reluctant to join forces with a dragon. Also the Inquest isn’t exactly “evil”. They have a different view of the Eternal Alchemy, that it can be mastered, instead of simply understood. And this is where the disconnect between the Colleges and the Inquest lies.
Why not level all of them to level 80 and rotate between them as the situation demands? I have a warrior main, and necro alt. Both level 80, and love both of them. Condition necro in solo PvE is really fun, just watching groups of mobs melt is satisfying in a twisted sort of way. In PvP, my necro isn’t half bad. Still need to learn alot, but boon stripping and condition applying is great!. As far as end game, there isn’t much. And you’ll see alot of complaints about that in the forums. In the end though, play which ever you like, or rotate between them as you see fit, and have fun. Because thats all that really matters in this game.
Did you check out the guild forums? lots of guilds there for fractals, dungeons, etc. You canpretty much find exactly what you are looking for in those threads.
Again with not reading LFG description. Just last night had someone begging to run AC p2, on a p1 Any welcome group. Several people reminded him that it was a p1 LFG, but he insisted then went AFK…I don’t normally like kicking people, but we kicked him. I don’t care what class/build/AP/exp etc. you are in my groups,but PLEASE read the LFG, especcially the path.
I play warrior as my main, cause with a new like Buff Badwell how could you not? Seriously though, ask yourself which profession you have the most fun with, which builds and roles you like, and your long term goals in the game. As far as crafting a legendary, its accountbound, so you can use it on multiple characters as needed.
I would like to see tomes added as and off hand weapon for caster classes. Something say a rabid tome of poison, or something. It would add a burst/blast finisher aoe of some sort, with maybe a short invis or teleport. That would be awesome.
The problem with necros being a vuln bot isn’t that vuln bots aren’t needed,
Funny thing: vuln bots aren’t needed.
it’s that engineers are better vuln bots and also have better DPS, better CC, can give stealth, etc. Necromancers are basically stuck in the same pigeonhole as Engineers except Engineers do everything better.
Same can be said to engineers and thieves/eles in dungeons.
Maybe learn to play the class properly then we can talk about who is better at what.
I’d absolutely love to set up a challenge between us two on who’s better playing engi. We could have the forum to decide and officially shame the losing one. Doesn’t that sound nice?
Yes, battle!!!
BATTLE ROYAL!!!!!!!!
Ive never had an issue soloing champs in pve, with warrior or necro. In fact condition necro makes ir a hell of alot easier. The only time ive had trouble soloing anything was the spider queen in AC. So yeah OP, you might want to revisit your build and Perhaps your tatics. If you aren’t building for damage on a warrior and trying to faceroll, you will be dropped quick, especially if you arent watching the bosses tells and switching between ranged and melee when appropriate. The same could be said about any of the other professions you’ve used. Also you’ll never be able to outheal DPS against you. Even with a full healing build. It will help you last a bit longer, but youll never do enough damage to end the fight in enough time.
@IndigoSundown
That definition works for me. It certainly clears things up a bit. However, I see no reason for Season 2 to be anything like Season 1. One of the Devs already stated that Season 2 will include permenent content. Whether story content, or otherwise, we have no idea. We can safely assume there will be a new zone, and with that POIs, Vistas, hearts, etc. I am positive that they learned much on what NOT to do from Season1. It wouldn’t make sense to NOT incorperate many of the things that didn’t make Season so great, but could have, in this new season. But all in all, we don’t really KNOW anything other than there will be Season 2. Anything else is pure speculation.
@lordkrall
Pretty much.
@ OP
I thought it was a bad idea to put all your eggs in one basket? I certainly don’t feel Anet or NCSoft is doing this with season 2. And if you are feeling unsatisfied with the direction the game is going, perhaps this game isn’t for you. Not trying to be snarky or anything, but if you aren’t enjoying it, it’s time to move on to something else. And banking on an update to provide what you are looking for, probably means this game just doesn’t have what you are looking for…Just something to think about.
Telling the op to leave the game if he doesn’t like season 2 is pointless that’s exactly what he said he ld do. The op is saying he wants season 2 to be a better representation of gw2 potential than s1
I wasn’t saying leave the game if he doesn’t like season 2. I’m saying leave the game because it isn’t working for you, as it is now. Season 2 probably isn’t going to offer what he wants. Its like watching an entire season of a really bad tv show. If you didn’t like season 1, chance are you’ll hate season 2, so theres no point in trying to watch it if you couldn’t stand season 1.

Not sure if being sarcastic or not. But yeah Basically. We don’t really see him doing much at all. Other than having strategy meetings, and agreeing with the leaders of the Orders. He passes the decisions on to us as it which path to take, and then is all like
“Good idea! Glad I thought of it! I’ll send some people with you, now go take care of it. I…uhh….got important things to do here….yeah important things. Good Luck!!”
@IndigoSundown
Ok I agree that some of it was pre LS. But it still remains that the Karka Queen is a new boss. Granted before LS, but still , added permenent content. The recipes and mats I was refering to, don’t include ascended. Crafting professions, not all, got bumped up to level 500, and opened up a range of new items to craft. As well as the toxic spore samples and watchwork sprockets for mats.
What remains though is what is defined as content. I see all the stuff added/changed pre, during, and post Living story as content. Some people do not. I believe that until “content” is clearly defined we won’t be able to move on with the discussion. As some people, like me, say that plently of stuff was added and is permenent, while others don’t see it as content.
Send me your gold and items…thanks!!! You will be missed! Farwell and good luck!
yeah, dungeons and world bosses are going to be your best bet if you are not going to play the TP. Also the champ train in frostgorge can help. Yes champion bags have had their cash nerfed, but still you can get mats to sell, or upgrade to T6 to use for legendary or sell. EotM might be a good place as well, lots of loot bags and event rewards if you don’t know what do to after dungeons. Just an idea.
It’s sad really. I REALLY enjoy my condition necro, but with current condition mechanics, is pretty much worthless in dungeons. Great for solo open world PvE, WvW roaming, and PvP (to an extent), but crap in dungeons. I haven’t pugged alot with my necro, but when I have its just sad. Haven’t been kicked, yet, but still little damage output. I generally run my warrior for PUGs anyway.
Interesting. I like some of the ideas, but the hard mode idea…not so much. Not that it’s a bad idea, but a hard mode PvE just doesn’t make sense. It would just mean more grinding. Doing 100% map completion already feels much like grinding anyway. Especially on a second or third character. The first time wasn’t TOO bad, as you were seeing much of the world for the first time anyway. Hard mode in GW1 worked simply because it wasn’t an MMO. Hard mode in GW2 would mean you’d have to have a additional map shard for upscaled mobs, with better AI, etc. Such a thing wasn’t too difficult to implement in GW1 because all the maps outside of citys were already instances. However, hard mode dungeons and fractals (but hard mode fractals already exist, its the higher levels) would be good. It gets to easy stacking and burning. Throw in harder enemies, with improved AI, different mechanics, and lose all ability to stack…that would be awesome.
Make AI smarter: Did you NOT see The Matrix? Or Terminator? Bad things happen when AI gets smarter.
Seriously though, an improved AI along with an upscaled reward would be awesome! As it is now, PvE is too easy, even dungeons nowdays. Unless you are trying to run dungeons solo of course.
Please post in game bugs sub forum. Thank you.
GW1 seemed to capture a story well enough, even if it was experienced by everyone like it was a single player game.
What Living Story needs is more connections with the existing lore.
It also needs to build up each connection from one release to the other better.
The later parts of the Season 1 sort of got there, but by then the story was pretty much done.
Exactly.
However I will point out that GW1 was in fact NOT an MMO. It was an online RPG. While it did have some elements of an MMO, those were mainly in the city areas. But all in all it was never billed, advertised, or considered an MMO.
While I agree that this is a good idea, I don’t see it working. It would require at least double the work, only to be able to use half of it. As a DM for a tabletop RPG, allowing the players too much freedom means I have to come up with contingenies for every scenario. If the players don’t want to go to dungeon A that I spent 2 weeks building, but instead want to go to City B to investigate whats going on there means I have to build a narrative around City B as well as having Dungeon A available. Its enough work to build one dungeon from the ground up, but having to do it twice in the same time frame just to give me players more of a choice is just too much work. However if they still want to go to City B, I can usually tweak it so they end up going to Dungeon A anyway, so its not really a player choice, but more of an illusion of choice.
If the same were to happen in GW2, the devs would have to make 2 story arcs per “espisode”. One for outcome A and another for outcome B, and discard one depending on how the players chose. Thats ALOT of work, and more than likely would be poor quality, as it would be rushed and slapped together, unless they decided to bring in another 3 teams to work on probable content. And 50% of their work would be discarded and useless. And I just don’t see that happening any time soon.
Although I would drop 6 in curses instead, change the consumables and bring it up to 183. It brings the duration down a bit, but it offers a little more condidtion damage.
I was wondering the same thing, and that build uses full ascended armor, weapons and accessories. Just going from ascended to exotic drops condition damage about 300 points, to around 1550ish. Which still isnt bad at all.
This is the equivalent version of the abovementioned build using only Exotics:
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fRAQNArYGmAXogeBCgoNyMYCocLGDA-TVyCwAOUCC4QAY5JAgT9HFnAADm/SpPQ4+DHV+RIgFrBA-wI don’t know where you get the 300 points drop in Condition Damage, as the drop is of “only” 142 points.
hmm you’re right, I suppose I was looking at something else, was trying to do it on my tablet, must have selected something else. My bad.
It was intentional. Just a date with a picture. It’s enough to start lots threads of theorys and speculation, and yes unfounded complaints about season 2. I like it. I am one of many that enjoy speculation on what may come. I feel it builds anticipation much better than a detailed decription of whats to come. It’s like Christmas as a child (for those of you who celebrate such things). You KNOW you are getting a present, but you wait and dream and speculate on what it might be. You see the wrapped box, but have NO IDEA whats inside. The more you think about it, the more excited you get about the possibilities. It’s brilliant really.
From what I can tell, the OP, and others want more PERMENANT content in season 2. I guess we need to clearly define what that means. There was permenant content added in in season 1, but people don’t count it as content for whatever reason. There was a new explorable zone (2 if you count the queens pavillion), with a whole series of DEs, at least 2 JP in the new zone and the aetherblade JP, 2 new world bosses, a new dungeon path, a new fractal, a new gear tier, more crafting recipies, a new wvwvw map, new crafting materials, and thats what I can think of off the top of my head. Post season 1 brought us new traits and trait system, a whole new stat, new pvp reward track system, new ways to aquire mats for legendary weapons, and more.
If this isn’t “Permenent content” I don’t know what it. It’s much of the same stuff you’d find in an expansion, just brought out in smaller chunks. Yeah the story elements were left temporary, but again, as its been brought up before, thats the very nature of a “Living Story”. Also if you are looking for a story recap, because you missed parts of season 1, you CAN watch the recap videos here . I believe there are also some NPCs still around that can give you a full recap of the story as well. I know there was one in LA at some point, but you’ll have to look for them.
Trehearn is the JarJar Binks of Guild Wars. He was irritating, and less than useless. Yes he was intrumental in forming The Pact, but it really didn’t take THAT much to convince the different orders to join together. I am really surprised they hadn’t done it themselves much earlier. I mean really, the order of whispers has been around since before 1057 AE, the Priory since 1105, and the most recent Vigil since 1320, 30 years BEFORE the events in GW2. The Priory and The Orders of Whispers knew about the Elder Dragons long before ANY of them awoke. It seems kinda stupid to not have formed together beforehand to fight against them. But back to Trehearne. He is a motivational speaker, who gets the awesome sword of awesomness to deafet Zhaitan and cleanse Orr. And what does his “second in command” get? A stupid weaksauce RNG weapon that is even more useless than Trehearne. Thats what irritated me about him the most. He supposedly does all this stuff behind the scenes while we face hordes of undead single handedly, because he gets knocked out in the first encounter, and is some sort of great hero. It’s not so much about OUR personal story than it is about his, that we get to assist in.
I was wondering the same thing, and that build uses full ascended armor, weapons and accessories. Just going from ascended to exotic drops condition damage about 300 points, to around 1550ish. Which still isnt bad at all.

Alright, going for attempt number 2. I’ll let you know what happens.
ok still getting beat badly…I can get her around 50% health, but that poison just hurts!
any ideas?

@tachii
Ill say it once, to keep thread from being derailed completely and let it lie there. I run valkyrie because I mainly solo pve. I found the extra hp to be very helpful when soloing champs, and large groups of mobs. It doesn’t matter if I don’t deal maximum possible damage, because going solo I can take my time. Having a few thousand extra hp just means I can faceroll that much longer, and enjoy the fight, rather than burn through it.
In a dungeon group I can go 6 in tactics, run banners, have an even more massive hp pool, and be more “tanky”, if you will. Its also useful against lots of conditions that can be applied in certain dungeons if there isn’t much condition cleansing available. (This IS PUGs we are talking about….)

@saylu
Oh I agree completely. I dont care about titles or skins or dyes or minis or a number of other things people get way too excited about. The only comment I’ve gotten about my ascended heavy armor is that one of my guildies thinks I should change the look pf it, and remindes me every time we are in a party together :P
I really don’t give two kittens about what the players in my party are running.
Bearbow or necromancer is fine for me, I wont kick someone for playing what he likes.
What bothers me however are those players that simply lie about the viability of their build when it comes to dealing damage. Bearbow wont deal “decent damage” the same goes for riflewarrior, conditionmancer or burnguard.
Just say you like the playstyle, don’t spread lies to justify your build.
I agree, however I would point out that some builds do have their uses, but are generally situational, or for other game modes. For example condition necro can do really well in pvp or wvwvw roaming or solo pve. Not so much in a group with overriding conditions. That doesnt mean they arent viable, just not viable in certain settings. Also, as a side note, optimal and viable are to very different things. My valk axe/axe warrior is by no means optimal, but is very useful in groups of mobs.
-Guardians that spam their light fields even though their is an elementalist in the party.
Hey, that’s me.
HAI DAD, I’M ON TV!!!!!!!!…
Seriously, I just can’t stop using gs 4. I’m such a scrub. I just… I like… you know, that cute simbol… it looks so goooood.In other news, xallever is officially on my black list of smilies spammers.
When I conquer the world, you’ll have a particularly painful treatment.
Nah, jk, can’t.
You’ll just be one of the countless enslaved hoomans.
About playhowiwants, well… terminate.
Enslaved hoomans? Never! Pewma man will stop you and your nefarious schemes!!
(+37 points if anyone gets the reference)
I was thinking about the hall of monuments. If there is anything about “prestige” in gw2, its from the hall of monuments, and those rewards only come from playing gw1 and doing much of the end game content there. Other then that there is no gw2 prestige items. People wanted access to skins and items from previous content they missed, and it looks like they are getting it. So it does lose much of the status it had. However, only the gw1 titles amd skins have any amount of prestige anymore.
While I understand the frustration of those who missed parts of the LS season as I did, it does make sense NOT to be able to go back and redo that content. If they were to bring back anything from the LS, it would be a part of a fractal, as we’ve seen with the Thermanova (sp?) reactor. Bringing back the major events like the Tower of Nightmares, The Marionette, and the total destruction of LA just wouldn’t make sense. Game wise, it’s already in the past. Now they did say that moving forward with LS season 2, there will be permenent content added, what exactly is not known at this time. Overall the idea behind the LS is that its LIVING. It continues to grow and evolve and change. Now unless there is a time warp that allows players to go back in time to replay those events, it just cannot happen. Also most of that content REQUIRED a large amount of players to complete. While many of those who missed it, or new to the game would be able to do it again, many of the “vets”, at least on the forums, didn’t like it to begin with, and would be far less inclined to run it again. Leaving a much smaller player base available to be able to do it. Take the Watchwork Invasion. Everyhour or so a map was invaded with a HUGE amount of enemies, and took a full maps worth to drive them back on time. Towards the end of that event, while it was still going on, it was rare to see more than 5-10 people doing it anymore.
Nice! Great video BTW. The biggest problem I seem to have is the Poison AoE. I might try a more up close and personal appraoch with melee instead of medium range, as it appears that she will drop the AoE closer to her making it easier to dodge/move out and have more room. With a ranged approach the AoEs are so wide spread it doesn’t leave much room to stay clear.
Also FYI, Necro has a bunch of Condition cleanses and transfers. Dagger 4, Staff 4, DS, Consume conditions, Well of Power converts conditions, Signets to cleanse and transfer, and others I’m sure I’m not using due to weapon sets.
(edited by pdavis.8031)
Any tips on spider queen?
hmm will have to check those out. Thanks! I do understand that some of the puzzles as a condi necro will be paticularly challenging, but I don’t think the bosses should pose much of a problem. Melt and run.
Brothergrimm beat me, but I’m sure this is what he was talking about.
Well one way, not sure about efficiancy though, but the quaggen crab heart vendor in bloodtide coast, you can get the light crab grabbing gloves, drop 4 in the MF and salvage for linen. I think you get 1-3 scraps per, and linen bolts are pretty decently priced for selling IIRC.
Scheduled just after Snipe season…..
Is that before or after the invasion of the Mursaat? Or was it the return of the Dwarves?
Yeah thats what I was afraid of. I was thinking it would be possible on P3 though, at least there is a bit of a break between burrows, and the collectors can take a bit more punishment than the explorer. Any thoughts?
So I’ve started running a condition necro, and am getting decent at it, at least I think so, and wanted to start soloing some dungeons. I wanted to start with AC, as that one seem fairly easy, and I’m very familiar with it. The main concerns I have are with the spider queen, and the graveling burrows. I figure I could kite the spider adds to the stacking point and melt them there and kite the queen around in the room there, but not sure if more adds spawn or not. Also the burrow room where you need to keep the guy alive. This room generally goes smoothly with a party, but in some pugs it can take forever. How would one go about do that solo? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
