I like the style of armor in GW2. Heavy Ascended is my favorite. Its is utilitarin with a fantasy look. Unlike some other games I’ve seen. The higher lever armors, especially female, look ridiculous, and like it doesn’t provide any sort of protection of vital areas. (i.e. overly exposed midriff, circlets for helmets, legs totally exposed, etc.) Some of the skins are cool, others no so much (Zeinith skins anyone?) But to each their own I guess…
Save your laurals for obsidian shards. If you are planning on doing ascended crafting, or going for a legendary you’ll need them. The ascended trinkets can be found as drops in higher level fractals.
I know! I’m excited! There was another thread talking about the festival, and rebuilding LA and what it might look like. I directed them here
Instead, just post your thoughts on the existing one and a mod will be along shortly to delete it.
Very good point. Although I havent played gw1 much, (only started last week) I do see wts spam now and again. Hmmm I will have ro remember that next rime I play gw1
Change the title and post in the bug thread. Exploits are forbidden to be discussed and this most certainly is a bug. If its viewed as you are promoting this bug, it could cause account suspension or worse
Dragon Bash is actually pretty likely.
Part of the Zephyr Sanctum release seems to be about rebuilding LA, and Dragon Bash is meant to be annual. Also Arenanet will be wanting to showcase these types of events to China, hence why we have Zephyr Sanctum and the Crown Pavilion much earlier this year. Also having a festival amidst a destroyed or partially rebuilt city is not a bad idea at all. it boosts morale and shows the people that even in the wake of ruin they should still keep their spirits up and have reason to celebrate.
I agree. Many cultures have a celebration after a period of mourning following a disaster. Look at 9/11 here in the US. A terrible tragic event that rocked America. After a period of deep mourning and shock, the whole country awoke and was celebrating America and all that it stands for even more than before. It wasn’t a specific day, but a whole shift of attitude and outlook. More US flags and exaggerated shows of patriotism where everywhere.
Coinciding the Zephyr Sanctum, Dragon Bash, and Pavillion with the start of the rebuilding of Lions Arch would be a great idea, not only for the game world and moral, but for players as well. A new exciting festival marking the launch of LS season 2 and hints on what to come. Very exciting and moral boosting indeed.
as far as weapons, it’s what you have in your inventory. The pvp weapons got converted to skins (thats all they really were anyway).
I’m not just talking about the dailies. I racked up about 50AP in just a few days, about an hour a day, just doing all the other captures, ring the bell, etc.
It’s a meme, basically he’s trolling the OP.
Has anyone really been far even as decided to use even go want to do look more like?
This sentence hurts my brain. I can usually extrapolate the meaning from poorly constructed sentences, but this? Can you please clarify?
the one thing i do not like about guild wars 2 is that the lvl of play, like i am a lvl 40 i go back to a lvl 12 place and now even those i am a lvl 40 lol i become a lvl 12 , i do understand why they do this but i feel it wrong , know why they did this to stop power lvling , i do not like poeple who people lvl we all know why this is any way other wise than that i love the game .
Level scaling. It was done so that as a level 40 in a level 12 area, it’s still “supposed” to be as difficult as if you were level 12. Granted I feel it’s kinda broken, but still some fights are a bit of a challenge. It doesn’t prevent power leveling, but rather reduces being way OP for a zone. Imagine a level 80, full zerk with legendary in the Queensdale champ train. It would be a 1-2 hit kill on every champ. That would cause actual lower level characters to be unable to do those events. It would also cause lower level zones to be near dead, with the exception of those just starting out, or alts. As a level 80, no scale, there would be NO reason to go back to those zones. EVER.
It’s 3720 to 1.
EotM is also a great place to get some AP. Just run with the zerg for awhile and watch the AP climb.

No thank you to mounts
No thank you to gear checks
No thank you duel harassment
No thank you to lock out timers
No thank you instanced raiding
If I wanted to play WoW, I would just go play WoW.I can agree that I want to see Cantha and Elona, but there is no reason why we couldn’t see an expansion in tandem with the LS content. Of course, they might just roll that out as part of the LS.
I will agree that the LS isn’t perfect, but it has grown. Has gotten better as it’s progressed.
This. GW2 IS NOT WoW! Or like any other MMO. Permenet content would be great, new zones, etc. but tie them in with the LS. Have a REASON for opening up a new area other than it’s there. The LS is great, with all it’s issues. The temp content for the LS was a great idea. It doesn’t make sense to keep every event every time. The game world moves on. I missed much of the LS, but still really enjoyed the parts I did play. I like having a story that evolves and grows. Just having a overarching story that can be played over and over again, with no progession on the story other than an expansion every 6 months, is boring and overdone. I’ve read many complaints about WoW and their expansions. That it was too short, not enough to do, and that it was too long before the next one came out. People were doing everything in 48 hour straight gaming sessions, and then complained about it.
Keep the LS, and use it as a spring board for more pemenent content like zones, new boss, etc.
Yay!! Thats awesome that they have talked about the rebuilding of LA. I started a thread about it, and got some really good feedback and ideas. Check it out!
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/lore/lore/Rebuilding-of-Lions-Arch/first#post4016631
Granted it is more about the story aspect, but I think it fits right in here.
I’m only 32, but I think it’s awesome to see a more mature audience! They tend to be much more respectful of the community and not trolls :P I’m looking forward to the day I can play with my son, he’s only 2 right now so I got a few years :P
LFG how to:
DO:
State your intentions for the group clearly
Be willing to work WITH people who may need help in some areas
Have fun and make friend
DON’T:
Be a kittenhead
Expect everyone to have a play style that matches yours
Listen to members who require gear checks, AP, or whatever. It’s YOUR group, run it how you want
straying into being nasty just to be nasty.
False. That is completely illogical for reasons already explained.
We are not being nasty, just to be nasty. We are trying to have a reasonable and intelligent discussion about the need and viability of introducing a player to player trading system. The OP can’t come up with a valid argument other than that statement to every rebuttal. The way the majority sees it, having a PtP trading system would be a bad idea, for very reasonable and logic reasons. We would welcome some other view points on the matter, but so far thats all we’ve seen.
(Plus it’s funny, not to make fun of the OP but it can apply to almost ANYTHING)
I never really understood the AP, gear check, or “zerk only” mentality. But if thats how you want to roll, thats fine, but count me out. I always run “Any welcome” PUGs anyway. Most of the time we get an experienced group who knows what to do, sometimes not so much. Recently had to 2 man dredge factal boss because the other members didn’t know what to do and after 6 wipes we were getting frustrated. But that was a very rare occurance.
Anyway my point is, Why would you want to do a check of AP,gear, or whatever? It just doesn’t make sense to me.
What he said…Although they do still drop randomly, had one drop just a few days ago, but the personal story method is the way to go.
Just saw this and though I would share with the community

False and illogical, for reasons already explained.
Now that that’s out of the way. I also would like to see a real life example of a PtP trade sytem that is not vulnerable to misuse and abuse. I have played games with such a system (that is PtP trading) and seen nothing but chat spam, even outside of trade channel. Path of Exile is one. The whole system is based on PtP trading and a barter system. While cool, there is nothing to determine the value of the item. The one time I used it, was pretty sure I got scammed (ripped off) as the other player knew more of the value than I did having just started the game.
Although I will say, a game without any form of money other than loot was pretty cool.
Great points!
I think that the illogical tag is going to be used with almost every post now though
(Which is illogical for reasons already explained)
(edited by pdavis.8031)
Short answer yes and yes.
Multiple builds, depending on what you are trying to accomplish in WvW, whether roaming or general, is always a good idea. I like the axe/axe setup, but there is a thread about it here:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/warrior/Dual-Axes-is-it-a-lost-cause/first#post3992349
And GS seems to be the favorite in WvW for any occassion. But ultimetly, play how YOU want and bring what can best add to the whole.
Ever the voice of reason JustTrogdor!!
While I agree I felt I needed to add my voice and persepctive, again, to the discussion.
We understand it can and will be rebuilt. But the question is by whom and how? Rebuilt back into the style of the old LA? Back when it was the capitol of Kryta? Or the way it was salvaged by pirates? Or completly fresh and new? Who will have a hand in it and why?
True, while cyber bullying is not the only factor, it is a catalyst. But that doesn’t make it any less tragic or less of an issue. And as you said, there are other avenues for harassment already in place. So why add one more? One more thats been proven to be a major source of griefing and harassment. A large portion of Anti duelers point out that harassment is their major concern. Even with the safeguards.
As for me, I cannot imagine a GW2 world in which PvE dueling exists. With or without safeguards. I don’t see it fitting into the GW universe.
I think someone threw in all the Worlds and the Megaserver came out…
LOL Thats awesome!!
So how exactly does the wardrobe and LS season 2 invite harrassment? And trivializing peoples ability to handle harassment is not ok. People have LITERALLY killed themselves over cyber bullying. For whatever reason they couldn’t handle it. No matter which form it takes, harassment is harassment. There are several reasons I am against PvE open dueling. Harassment being one of those. As much as we all would like to think the the GW community is a place full of wonderful, respectful, and amazing people. It’s not. This thread is an example of that. There is ALWAYS going to be those who grief, troll, and harass others whether in game or on the forums. Whether it’s over PvE dueling, or the pug they were in got wiped in a dungeon because not everyone knew what to do. A system such as PvE dueling would only serve to draw those who take a preverse joy in harassing others. Not that it would be exclusivly those types of people, but having a mechanic for them to operate in would encourage that behavior.
Also duels in PvE would ruin the experience for MANY players. In a world that is designed around community and group dynamics, and the peoples of the world joining forces to combat the Elder Dragons, and the other dangers that plague the world. PvE, as said before, is about working TOGETHER. Having duels, even as a form of entertainment, would not fit into the philosophy of the game world.
Also try the flame legion charr in fireheart rise? (the zone with CoF) for silk, and SOME linen, and Dredge in Timberline Falls (near Iron falls WP I believe) for linen. When farming remember not to stay in one area for too long (about 30-45 min. is usually good) because of diminishing returns.
Be careful trading with other players. Since there’s no secure player to player trade interface to prevent scamming, you have to use the mail system where players can scam you.
While there is no player to player trading, the TP is a VERY secure alternative and eliminates the need for PtP trading. But that is off topic as the OP is looking for friends and groups to do things with.
OP: You can also use the LFG tool if you are looking for people to do things with and don’t yet have a guild. Just make sure that in the description you state exactly what you are looking for and what you want to accomlplish. I’ve made several friends through the LFG tool, and team up with them upon occasion.
“Illlogical”
LOL
Seriously though, the more I think about it, the more I see a scenario like this.
Player A: "WTT [exotic greatsword x], looking for exotic pistol y
Player B: oooo pretty I want!!
Player B: PM: What do you want for it? I have [exotic pistol w] or [exotic pistol z]
Player A: PM: I’ll take exotic pistol z.
Player A opens trade window and adds greatsword.
Player B adds transmuted pistol c with same skin as z
Players A and B accept trade.
Player A: PM: WTF!? this isn’t pistol z!!!
Player B: no response
I don’t know if transmuted items become soul bound or not (never use the skins) but with the ease of adding skins to items this would be a prime example of how the player to player trading WOULD be exploited.
edited to reflect items that would be unusable by a certain professions for the sake of realism and my OCD
(edited by pdavis.8031)
Housing would create the feeling that the players are actually accomplishing something, and a goal to work toward. Thats one of the reason many people start to go after legendaries. The stats are, mostly, secondary. Its the “tangable” reward at the end of completing a task. Same thing with the wardrobe. It’s all cosmetics. But having a way for players to show off their achievments and greatness, whether skins or housing, is a way for the players to feel like they matter in the game world. I would love to have housing, even though it would be something rarely used, it would provide that feeling of significance to the world that is otherwise lacking.
We still have no offical word on the matter. While it’s been said that new legendaries are on the table, as far as when they actually implent them is a different matter.
^
Yeah I’ve been noticing that trend from the OP as well. But I’m bored at work and this gives me something to do :P
Wait, I’m confused. So you didn’t like the communal heart quest function, and now you don’t like the private heart quest function? I never had an issue with too many people in a heart area that tagging a mob was even an issue. If you are experiencing this problem however, I would suggest getting a party together to do the heart events in a zone. A change to the system would more then likely cause more issues and bugs than it would be worth, IMO.
^ I agree.
However there are FEW reasons to open trade with another player. I’ve done it a few times with my guildies, but thats about it. Having a secure channel to do that would be redundant and useless. And there is the FACT that there WILL be scammers. In one way or another. And even though it may not be against the ToS, there will still be tickets by those players who have been scammed. And ANET will have to go through and investigate each one, as they crop up. Resulting in a much larger work load, sifting through legit claims, and not. Which of course is an increase of moeny spent on ANETs part. It’s just not worth it.
This is incorrect. Scamming is far easier through mail system. Trade interface reduces scamming, and therefore less reports. Therefore, less developer workload. I’ve already explained this.
True. While a trade interface will REDUCE scamming and reports, it does create the possibility of scamming. As it is now, the TP completely eliminates scamming. So adding a player to player trade function brings the chances for scamming UP from 0%, to say 5% or higher. Any player to player interaction has the possibility of being exploited and used for malicious purposes. Even the chat, with gold sellers, griefing, spamming, etc. There is no way to make player to player trading 100% secure and safe. If player A has an item player B wants, and Player B has what A wants. Both should sell their respective items on the TP, and then with the money gained from the sale, buy the item they want. 100% safe, secure, and no one risks getting scammed in some way.
And before you cry incorrect or illogical, show a way that the TP is NOT 100% secure, and how a trading interface can be implemented and utilized in such a way that CANNOT be exploited, ever.
Same server, same issue. However some people were able to get it moving by killing a champ in the area. He wasn’t being very forthcoming about which one (which is kinda lame IMO) but when i get some time I’ll have to investigate more.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/archive/fractured/Theory-Dessa-s-Lab-is-itself-a-Fractal
This is also an interesting discussion about the matter
Hmm intriguing. But that would mean that the lab is in a structure almost as large as Rata Sum, and within view of Rata Sum, if that is the city we could see in the distance. We do know that it is not Rata Sum (the lab). I dont know if weve ever found Dessas lab ingame or not, id have to explore the outsise of Rata Sum again, but maybe it is the lab and it can be found within sight of Rata Sum, if that is what we are looking at inthe diatance.
@Sorudo
I did read the whole suggestion. I agree there is no bashing in your suggestion, and is balanced. That’s not the point I was making. Seera understood my point. It was an exaggeration of whats going on in the thread. I think that is where the miscommunication lies.
I also agree that it’s just players bashing and arguing just for the sake of arguing. While I enjoy the DISCUSSION, I am seeing very little of that going on. You suggestion is a good idea of what this thread needs more of. Actual feedback and responses, not just a toxic back and forth.
Hehe I haven’t seen a valid argument from either side. The pros just cry “I want it!”, “other MMOS have it”, “If you don’t like it gtfo!!” and the anti group is “NO!! It’ll hurt immersion and cause griefers!” “It’s dumb!!”,“If you don’t like it gtfo!”
Sadly, this thread is turning into a hater fest. Most of what I’ve seen is not discussion, but both parties bashing and abusing each other.
Pro-duelers want it to have uninterruptable duels.
How is that not a valid argument?
“Because” is not a valid argument. Period. At least on the Anti side, they can point to RL examples of griefing/trolling/harassment. The Pro side just points out they can block/report or ingore it. Using dueling as training for PvP is a weak argument, as the two systems are completly different. One might learn the basics of dodging and when to use skills, etc. but those can be picked up from any mob or boss fight. Gear/traits/stats play a major role in PvP, as well as PvE. If you want to learn to PvP, there is PvP dummies, private “rooms” etc to do that with. Which would be a much better medium for doing that anyway. I learned PvP through a couple of my guildies in a private PvP match.
What is not a valid argument? Why is it not a valid argument. No where in my post has “because.”
“Pro-duelers want it to have uninterruptable duels.” is not an argument. It’s a statement. An argument would have reasons X, Y and Z to include dueling and have A,B, and C positive impact on the game. And not, “I like duels, and think they should be included, and not interrupted”

not true, i just gave a solution for both parties without even one single bashing, first read some of the actual argument before making lame statements.
The flag and shard idea? I posted similar ideas back on page 3, and page 4. The first few pages of this thread are just a fight between 2 people on the topic. With all the hate involoved. Like I’ve said before, I’ve been following this thread since the beginning.

He’s exaggerating the responses that those who refuse to have a discussion on the matter are making . Regardless of what side of the issue they take. At least that’s my take on his post.
Precisely You got it.

I don’t see many new players coming to this game solely on the feature of PvE dueling. I also don’t see many players leaving because it doesn’t have it. We all spent the $60 getting the game (unless you picked it up on sale), knowing what it was we were getting into. In the almost 2 years it’s been out, we’ve definetly got our moneys worth and then some. While we keep looking at whats wrong with game, and what needs to be added to make it “better”, don’t forget about all the amazing things we’ve already seen and done so far. If you haven’t full explored the world (I’m not talking about 100% map completion) you are missing out on so much.
