Clearly you haven’t been paying much attention… i’ve seen 9 threads closed complaining about the mega server in the last 5 hours alone. The moderators quickly delete all record of them so people like you are fooled into thinking they are good.

These threads are generally merged to the megaserver thread that was started specifically to handle those types of concerns. Sometimes they are deleted yes. But it’s not some sort of conspiracy that they are trying to hide that SOME people are unhappy with the megaservers. If people actually looked at the threads, and posted in the correct threads, the moderators would have a far easier time on the hands. Just sayin….

Where is the precursor hunt?

The precursor hunt hasn’t started yet. LS season 2 is about to start, and we don’t know anything about what that is going to entail. It would make sense to throw in a precursor hunt with a new legendary every couple of installments though. But we just have to wait and see. Have patience.

I am totally digging the Condi necro! I had heard about it, but never really seen much of a discussion on the matter. Right now I’m using a mix of condition damage dungeon armor with krait runes, scepter/dagger and staff. Been thinking of taking this one on a solo run and playing around with it. Thanks Maha! you rock!

People who call their teammates by their profession instead of their names.

“Hey mesmer, can I get a portal?” or “Hey guardian, go pull those mobs.” or whatever.

I hate that. -_-#

Im sorry but profession is easier/faster than typing or trying to type the names unless youre char names are sam or jane.

I’ve found that most people who do use names, generally only use the first 3 letters anyway. It seems its faster/easier to do that then “warrior” or “guardian”. Of course those usually get abbreiviated too. It does get confusing if there are multiple people of one class if people are using the class instead of the name.

Having leveled up to 80 both pre patch and post patch, I didn’t even see it as an issue. If you are trying to go for a specific build pre level 80 than I can see it being problematic. I just found it easier to get to 80, then gear up and trait for whatever build I am trying to achieve.

The things I dislike about PUGs:
-kitteny jerks who insult and rage when something wrong happens.
-People who get indignant about members who are below 80 in party, in an “All welcome” LFG.
-People who get mad at me when I use banners as a warrior. (true story)
-Other warriors in party refuse to coordinate which utilities we should use. If I got the banners, maybe use something else and not THE SAME BANNER! Or visa versa.
-People who run ahead and attack boss while it is being explained to newb, and no one is ready, then get mad when they die because no one was there to back him up.
-People merging my specific “Story. Any welcome” group with an “P1 EXP 80s only or kick!!” group.
-People trying to run P3 on a P1 LFG.
-People who are general kittens to play with, and take it WAY too seriously.

Ascended gear dilemma

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

@OP

Yes it’s a great long term goal. I made my full set of ascended armor and love it! Yes it is totally optional, but to me a stat increase is a stat increase, even if it is ~5%. Throw on some infusions and you can get an additional stat increase, +30 if you are focusing on 1 paticular stat for a full set of armor. Haven’t gotten around to making my weapons yet, but I’m focusing on my legendary first. Mine took me about 3 months playing casual. I farmed most of it, so saved some money that way.

Dulfy breaks it down quite well so you can see the difference between exotic and ascended to see if thats the route you want to go. Ascended stats.

If I hadn’t completely wiped the floor with every single thing you said, you wouldn’t have said anything like that, but thanks to your lack of counterargument, you now just want to slink away.

I stopped the aurgument because of A) it is off topic, B ) continuing this converstion would only result in more personal attacks against each other, and anyone else who wanted to join in, and C) It’s counter productive. Clearly beserker DPS is the fastest way to clear content. Period. Ripping apart my build and/or any other build because you don’t like it for whatever reason only serves to create dissention, and nothing more.

Furthermore, it’s this attitude that I was refering to ealier. It serves no purpose other than to stroke the ego of such players who get their jollies from putting down other players. I understand its not the entire beserker community, not saying it is. But the fact remains that it is there, and does more damage to the game as a whole than any broken mechanics and meta builds will ever do.

As much as I wouldn’t mind continuing this discussion, it is WAY off topic. You run your beserker build, and I’ll run my valkyrie build. At the end of the day we both have fun.

@Thaddeus

Yes, I do acknowledge that toughness/vitality are for ones personal survivablity. I’m not denying that. I prefer to have a bit more surviabilty than being glassy. If I was running in speed clear groups I would gear/trait accordingly. But I don’t. I run casual groups and have fun. Whether or not it’s “sub optimal” is a moot point for me, as I’m doing groups that want to have fun, and not speed clear/faceroll everything. That may be fun for you, but I don’t find it so. And thats ok.

@pdavis

I get alot of flack for using a valk warrior axe/axe build with shouts or banners. I am good at this build, having spend alot of time and research into how to play it well. I don’t join “zerker only” or “speed clear” LFGs. If anyone wants to do a glass cannon berserk build. Great! More power to you! But please, for the Six sake, don’t hate on those who don’t feel the same way about beserker as you do. Don’t think that because we have a different play style/build that we are bad players. Our builds require just as much skill as beserker, just different. We still need to know when to dodge, watch telegraphs, when to pop a certain utility or weapon skill, use what skills at what times for combo finishers and fields, etc.

Except, you clearly didn’t do research. I remember the thread. You were told to go axe/mace because as a warrior you would have full fury uptime and you didn’t need to use axe 4. Axe 5 is useless since it does worse damage against five targets that axe auto does against three. Your build does not require as much skill because you have vitality as a health buffer – it’s a logical conclusion to draw that the less defensive stats you stack, the more skill it requires since you are forced to go more towards active damage mitigation and less to soaking hits.

If you were dodging key attacks then you literally might as well just run berserker since you can survive with it – the crux of the issue however is that you had ascended valkyrie and you were adamant about using it despite being told to use other gear.

It was that very thread that prompted me to do some more research. I did find that axe 4 did grant a resonable uptime for fury, and axe 5 can be used to build adrenaline quickly, allowing for a near spam of axe F1, it also allowed to help bring down multple adds at the same time, as axe 5 is basically an AoE. Put that together with beserkers might, and burst precision, I can do a reasonable amount of damage in a short period of time. I found that my gearset, with the traits and weapons I have chosen, can do very well, yes its not the highest DPS, it’s not full glass. But I still need to dodge to 1 shot boss attacks, still need to move out of range from telegraphed attacks, still need to know when to pop axe F1 for maximum damage, etc. I still run the same gear set, and trait according to the situation and group. But I’ve noticed in BAD PUGs with the beserkers lying dead, I can more often than not solo the boss until completion. I’m not saying my valk setup is better than beserker, each of them have their place, its more of a preferencial playstyle than anything.

I have to agree with OP on several points. Yes the Beserker meta is fine. Yes it’s largly due to mechanical and content design that push towards glass cannon builds. However, my main issue with the beserker meta is that it tends to bring out the worst in players. I generally run PUGs with “any welcome” tags, and do quite well most of the time. They may not always be speed clears, but we generally have a good time. However we do get the beserker “elitist” jerk in the party occassionally who will insult the other players who may be having a hard time, or new to the dungeon. Thats all we ask, and thats why some non beserkers, at least from what I see, feel the way we do about beserkers.

but you see, your issue has very little to do with zerker. It’s jerk players that are just using zerker as a springboard for their jerkiness. It doesn’t always present itself as zerker, sometimes it’s classism (no rangers!), sometimes it’s rage towards uplevels, etc.

Despite your best efforts to explicitly state your /lfg description, you will inevitably get a player who insists on imposing his “higher” standards on a group which is intentionally operating at lower standards. But you will run into this same type of player everywhere, in any game.

It has very little to do with zerker gear, but more-so, an arrogant individual who feels the desire to needlessly enforce what he believes are the standards with which the rest of the group should operate, whether the rest of the group wants to or not.

While I agree with that, from my experience, it’s the mindset that TENDS to come with the gear. You see it even in this thread, with phrases like “Sub Par”, “Sub optimal”, “better skilled”, etc. It’s subtle, but it’s there. While a non DPS {insert gear here} build is “sub optimal” when compared to a DPS beserker build, doesn’t mean that gear set/build is bad, unless you are trying to do conditions with healing gear, and physical damage traits on the weapon sets that you don’t have, or something.

So while it may NOT be the gear in and of itself, but as you said, it’s a spring board for that behavior. Again, from my experience, its those running those builds and gearsets who tend to be the worst perpetrators of that behavior. I’ve yet to be chewed out by a cleric build for not doing x,y,z in a dungeon run. So yes, my issue is not with the gear itself, but the attitude that the gear fosters.

So you are saying that if you do the heart on one toon get the small amount of silver and karma, because thats all hearts give you, delete that toon, start another one, you cannot do the heart again? hmmmm that doesn’t sound right to me. And PS rewards are not limited to one per day. As I have, and many others do, key runs, multiple times a day.

And I agree with Konig about the festival. Last year there were so many cores looted the price dropped drastically, till the point where they were next to worthless. I can see why they decided not to go that route again.

As far as farming mobs? Haven’t noticed. Still get the same loot, can still farm for silk and linen on the same mobs.

Zero loot from Mobs? I found 2 yellows from random mobs just last night. I generally get quite a bit of blues and greens too. The last exotic I found, guess what? From a random mob. Unless you are talking specific loot, such as precursers, or named exotics, than it isn’t about loot, as it is more about RNG and drop rates.

Also events don’t give loot, unless you are talking about world booses. Hearts don’t give loot other that a few silver and some karma. The dungeons, and map completion have always been a great source of loot, I can generally fill my bags with loot from a couple of dungeon runs.

Damage Meters and Inspect Commands

I never said, nor implied, I was trying to join “zerker only groups” and getting flamed for not have the right gear. I said I was flamed in the FORUMS, in a thread about the beserker meta dying and the feasability of other builds. I’ve never joined a group where I didn’t meet the requirements, whether gear, level, AP, or whatever. If people want to have those groups, thats fine, I won’t join them. I’m not that disrepectful. I’ve also had people joining my “Any welcome” LFG that I always run, and asked me what gear I had, and had them insult me and quit because I wasn’t running the meta.

I do not have any sense of entitlement. I don’t expect people to allow me to join specific groups regardless of what I have, I don’t expect either Anet or other players to cater to my style of play. The only thing I do expect from players is common curtesy and not to hate because I am playing in a manner that I find fun and not hindering you from doing the same.

Well, why you thought the bezerker meta was dying is beyond me, berzerker will always do the most damage because of how the game works, plain and simple (unless they fix it so mobs can have 100s of condi stacks on them). It’s stronger now than it ever was for most content except level 80 dungeons. So I would expect you to be corrected and told you’re wrong, and that your build is going to be weaker but still nonetheless viable for casual gameplay, but people shouldn’t have been calling you names or anything.

As for people insulting you on casual runs, that’s completely uncalled for, and they should know better than that if they are joining a group that specifies it’s a casual run.

I totally agree. And I didn’t start the thread, and it was pre patch, so much of it was speculation on the beserker nerf. I agree that beserker stats do deal the most damage, but what I was trying to convey was that other builds are viable and can be used to effect if beserker was nerfed to the point of uselessness.

However all that I see a DPS meter causing is more grief. Even in casual runs. Someone thinks that a member isn’t pulling their weight because he died, so he pops up the meter, find the lowest DPS, rages and either quits party, or tries to kick. Already seen similiar type things happen in my clearly labeled casual groups.

DPS meter: Not a good idea, for reasons already explained and more. Having such a meter would only foster more of the elitism already rampant. I caught hell in the warrior forums because I refused to run the berseker meta, and am running axe/axe valk. I was called a noob, a horrible player and worse. Having a way to check that while in a group would just be awful.

Inspect command: Not really needed, not only for the reasons above, but because if you want to check someones gear, ask them to ping it. A form of it already exists in-game. Adding it as a function would be redundant.

All I hear you saying is that you want to run whatever build you want, in a group that requests zerker meta builds, without them knowing and without any repercussions.

Why do you think it’s your right to join someone else’s group when they specifically request a different build based on their idea of what’s fun, which is fast & efficient runs.

Talk about an entitled mindset.

Yeah same here. I never really got the WHY of making your character look pretty and having the prestigious skins. Although I did make my full set of Ascended armor a small part due to the look, but mainly the stats. The look of it was more of a bonus. While I happen to like it, many people don’t. One of my guild mates often tries to get me to go for a different look. I guess the emerging trend of visual gratification is what dictates games these days. I’ve been noticing alot of visual customization in a lot of different games, but it doesn’t add anything to game play or story.

This game has a problem with it’s loot.

I think the game needs better loot overall. It doesn’t feel very rewarding to kill trash mobs, nor do I feel excited about anything that might drop from a boss. It’s all vendor trash, all of it.

/snip

Gold

Gold items should really be special, but they aren’t. They never have any pretty skins, or statistics that are above average. There’s not really any reason to equip a gold item, or to be excited about getting one. Sure, it’s neat that they can be salvaged for ectos, or sold for roughly 30 to 40 silver on the TP. But 100% of the time a gold item is not going to improve your character. It’s again vendor trash, but with a slightly higher return.

Exotics

Exotics are a rare exception. They are the only types of items (apart from perhaps ascended gear) that have good looking skins, maxed statistics, and are worth a lot of money. But their drop rate is very low (as it should be), and again, they never have above average statistics. The statistics are maxed, which doesn’t put them any higher than an average gold item statistics wise, and they aren’t close to ascended statistics.

I never had a problem with the loot. Yeah you get a bunch of blues and greens, but thats normal in any game I’ve played with loot. However I do agree, at lower levels blue and green gear is useful, but I would contend that gold (yellow) is also useful. Especially on a sub 80 character, and will improve your character until you can get exotic.

Also the difference between the stats on gold, exotic, and ascended is 20% increase from gold to exotic, and a 10% increase from exotic to ascended. So exoctic stats are closer to ascended stats then they are to gold stats.

You can see the stat percentages here on the wiki. .

Still no word from Anet regarding patch

Concerning megaservers:
While a majority of people on the forums complain about megaservers, I’ve yet to see much talk about it in-game. Have done some of the guild missions, and as long as you are in a party with you guild you shouldn’t have any issues. The only issues I’ve seen are multiple guilds waiting to do the same missions. But the leaders/officers usually hash out who gets to go when between themselves. So it’s really a moot point.

Concerning Traits:
I have yet to see any of the traits broken or not functioning as intended. While it is harder to level up and get traits, it is working as intended. The temple traits: Its not because the system is broken that doesn’t allow for people to get the traits, its the other players. So instead of letting the defense fail, so the temple can be unlocked again, people are keeping the temple open. But as of 5/20 the Lyssa temple has been fixed to allow the trait for successful defense as well as defeating the priestess, so they are getting fixed and not ignored.

While they do fix things that are broken and address various issues with things, they don’t start a new announcment thread, or write a new blog with interviews about it. You can check out the game update news for the patch notes on what was fixed here. You just need to look for them.

Speculation: The Zephyrites rebuilding LA?

So it appears that the Zephyrites are indeed aiding in the rebuilding of LA, not only to honor their trade agreement, but also to supply whatever resources as well as funding. So it looks like the we were right and the Zephyrites are aiding in the rebuilding of LA.

Feedback:

Went with a similar build that you suggested, modified a little bit for PvE, and I love it!!
I love melting groups of mobs with stacks of conditions and wells. So far with this condition build, I am having a far easier time in PvE than I was with my warrior at the same level and areas. Thanks!

I also played Warrior for a long time. Level 80, full set of ascended, and halfway to legendary. I recently fired up my necro again. It’s freaking AWESOME!! I’m at level 63 with it, and it is a bit disheartening not having full traits, and decent gear to play around with, but I am loving it. While I still use my warrior for dungeon runs and the like, when my Necro is leveled up I know I’m going to be using him alot more. Especcially for WvW. Which I found the warrior lacking quite a bit, IMO.

Wondering what kind of a build this was

But that wouldn’t be a bad idea when key farming…throw in some sigils, and some extra lvl appropriate gear, makes it go a little faster, especcialy if you are doing it solo.

If armour was that bad, how would knights traverse anything? And the horse surely wouldn’t be able to carry a knight if a crane was needed. It would be exhausted after a fairly short distance.

Quite amusing really.

Unfortunately many of the people arguing that the armor was nothing but far too heavy are getting their information from old movies, not history.

Agreed. It’s been shown that a full set of heavy plate armor weighs LESS than what a modern soldier carries today. Plus it was more distrubted, thus allowing for even more mobility. But if you were to put a fully trained and physically conditioned person into a set fo full plate, they wouldn’t have much of an issue. In fact, would probably be more mobile than todays soldiers with their gear. And if the Heavy armor classes in this game meet the minimum requirements of the US army, then they shouldn’t have a difficult time at all do any of the things that they do in game. And it is my guess that those classes would actualy exceed those by a fair margin, seeing as they honed anD trained their bodies and skills to be the ultimate killing/defending machines that they are.

How Much More Casual?

I feel you on that part. If you weren’t there for the event, you shouldn’t be able to get the skins. However a large base of people whined and complained about how they weren’t able to do the content again, thus missing the skins. While I’m glad that they didn’t re-release the content, I’m a little miffed about the skins being available again. But that was the majority of the population on the forums, so they got it, despite all those same threads of people saying “Anet sucks and they never listen.”

I also enjoy playing the game. Been recently gettiing more into the lore and story and am amazed at how rich and deep it actually is. Plus, been working on getting a full set of ascended trinkets (already have my armor) and a legendary. There is lots of stuff to still do, thats why I keep playing. I find it fun. But yes, I agree the game is moving more and more casual. I guess for those looking for something less casual, this game may not be for them. One game can’t cater to everybody, and nowdays casual is where the gaming market is heading. Thats why you don’t see games like FF7, or Command and Conquer any more.

Hello,

I apologize ahead of time if this topic has been discussed at length. I’ve been playing a Necro alt from time to time, and recently just revived him again. I’m looking for a condition necro build, but have no idea what gear/traits/utilities to even use to maximize conditions and condition damage. My main area of play is PvE and dungeons, with an occasional WvW. I understand I may need to switch gear sets to accomodate the environment, just have no idea where to begin.

Sneak Peak at Patch Vendor Items

Also, anyone else notice the lack of wind / lightning / sun catcher skins? or the desert rose skin?

Why Anet, WHY ANET WOULD YOU TAKE AWAY SKINS FROM THE EVENT?

They specifically state “chance at obtaining last year’s LS event stuff”… oh well, but lets not include the zephyr sanctum skins again..cause no one wants those right * rolleyes *

I’m > < this close to swearing off anet over their kittened design decisions.. game is fun, it’s pretty..rewards are kittening pitiful, content is scraped together, lore is in shambles..sky is falling sky is falling >_<

Skins were removed for a variety of reasons. Colin Johnson blames Ellen Kiel “We at the Black Lion Trading Company agree it’s clearly Ellen Kiel’s fault.”

Seriously though, Colin has also said " https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/incredible-new-items-in-the-gem-store-4/
There’s your official announce.
They’re not permanently gone (probably) , but they will be off the vendor for quite a while. Long enough i wouldn’t even hazard a guess at a bring-back date.
Like any store, we’ll be regularly rotating out sets that are out of season or not popular to keep the vendor from overloading too many tabs."

This is the main reason previous skins are no longer available.

If you won't give us mounts...

Let’s try this again…
I am trying to see what the point of mounts would be aside from aesthetics.

The Waypoint travel system is unsatisfactory
Then rent a mount for 10 silver to travel the same distance.
The cost of waypoint travel isn’t an issue. It’s the way the system is designed. If you are not making enough gold playing the game to support WP travel, then what are you doing that is causing it to be such a burden?
ANet will likely make a gem store item that reduces the cost for a period of time before adding mounts in this game.

Just wanted to comment on this, as the other points I believe have already been discussed to death multiple times. I agree WP costs are not an issue, and if players don’t have enough money to use the WP then yes, something is clearly wrong with what they are doing. There is no reason that you would go broke just using WP. Even for a brand new account. There is already an in game service that allows for reduced WP costs. The guilds can build and activate it, and it reduces WP costs by 15% for 24 hours. Most guilds probably already have this, and activated at some point or another. But the WP costs are minimal anyway so even if the guild has it activated, no one really notices because they are not checking the cost when they WP. At least I don’t.

Elder Dragons as Antagonists

in Living World

Posted by: pdavis.8031

pdavis.8031

I still believe there are in fact 7 dragons total, not 6. Why 7? If you’ve noticed, each of the dragons can be linked to a different deadly sin.

Jormag – Wrath
Kralkatorrik – Greed
Primordius – Sloth (face it, he has the power to easily take the surface, but does NOTHING)
Mordremoth – Envy (if the Sylvari are his minions, they look enough like humans and seek info to the point where he could be seen as being envious of the races)
Bubbles – Lust (this is a massive guess)
Zhaitan – Gluttony (he had a mouth that loved to eat, and he loved to kill things just to add their knowledge to his own, a literal insatiable hunger for people’s knowledge)

This leaves a single sin unaccounted for…Pride. So my guess is a 7th dragon will be revealed, this one probably will be the most intelligent of the bunch, and likely a manipulator, with massive pride in his ability to subtly make any race or creature do his bidding.

Interesting. However its been stated several times, both on the wikis and ingame clearly state that there are 6 dragons. It makes sense to have 6 dragons as forces of evil as a balance to the six gods

Yes, based on known lore they say there are six dragons in Tyria. Who’s to say knowledge wasn’t lost, it has been 10000 years since they last awoke and the loss of a large amount of knowledge is possible over such a period of time. This knowledge could be accurate, but Cantha and Elona are still unknown as to whether they have Elder Dragon presences outside what is known at the current time. Sure, we have the Order of Whispers who could say something, but maybe the Order doesn’t know as much as they let on.

Oh I agree much knowledge was lost, as I said in an earlier post. But what we DO know is that there are 6 dragons, while we could speculate on a 7th or even more, there is no proof or evidence to suggest otherwise.

TP in GW2: Curse or Blessing?

in Black Lion Trading Co

How does it make money making methods by playing the game obsolete?

everything is worth kitten, almost every drop in the game is kitten thats how
and every good way of making money by actually playing the game is always nerfed because arenanet wants to milk shekels from people exchanging gems to gold
so the only choice is either exploit suckers on tp yourself in the name of capitalism or never get anything nice…or whip out your credit card…gold wars 2
+at least in other games the government wasnt stealing 15% of my kitten

So which money making methods have been nerfed? The only money making method I’ve seen nerfed was champ bags. But it was only by a few copper. Plus it wasn’t a large source of income anyway. AC dungeon actually increased it’s rewards at the end, but its limited to once per path per day, which is whats it’s been for as long as I can remember. While Anet may be pushing the gem store, there is still the option of not using it. It’s not required to buy gems for anything. While I agree that many of the drops are not worth very much, it’s more profitable to salvage them and gather and sell the mats, or use them in crafting and selling those. Also having the 15% tax on the TP helps counter inflation. Without it, you’d would see the prices of EVERYTHING slowly rise till the point where it would cost and arm and a leg for even the most common of rares. From what I understand this is exactly what happened in GW1 and “The game which shall not be named”. Gold become so common that people began trading for much more rare materials. Prices in the other game become over inflated (and having the same money structure as GW2, copper, silver, gold) you started seeing prices of even medium quality gear reach into the thousands of gold. Gold sinks are needed to keep the economy in check. They are a good thing.
