Honestly after the last patch (I mean the last evan tweak) only queue time is considerably decreased, games are really bad in quality.
I think like i said is because there are more factors, it’s not only a matter of games played and mmr, meta builds have a super huge impact on the game(it’s a true build wars) and coordination in ts for semi-premade (like 3+) make a huge gap.
ESL/Pro league players semi-premade have a super huge impact on the game if you don’t have the same composition on your side, and in general META builds (and it’s not the same to say “profession” in general).
Maybe with a build template system anet could lock a meta build in the matchmaking parameter and in general i think esl/pro league players (most of all in semi premade) should be matched only against other esl pro league players (im not talking about soloqueue but duoqueue+).
In my experience these are the 2 most important factors for a game balance in gw2, anet should really tweak the system (or working on it) to consider these factors in matchmaking.

Well, at least there is one real bunker in this meta.
Maybe is too strong, i dunno, I started to face this build sometimes today and I get a really good impression, but I had no chance to watch (for now) how it works on a equilibrated teamfight at pro league level.
I’ll keep on eye on it.
Honestly matchmaking is really terrible, never seen a thing like that. Every game I played is a 500 – getrekthardly, doesn’t matter if you win or not, there is not competition at all, games are always one direction.
I did a lot of games today (not on this account btw) I basically had lose and win streak with a little of win/lost alternance, totally random
Look my last 10 games (all soloque in unranked)
I had only 1 close game in 10 games, the other 3 300+ wasn’t close at all because the enemy team could never react from the initial snowball.
It’s not only matchmaking fault, the actual meta is very fast and you get hardly punished for bad positioning or for a bad movement or if you hold a node against no one like a kitten.
Dont’ get my wrong, bunker meta is a totally kitten and i prefer a lot this meta but it’s really important for matchmaking find a balance with professions and avoid premade vs soloers or is a totally mess.
PS Dont’ play 2 thieves (it’s a miracle if you win with 2 thieves) and don’t play warrior. Never.
Ele will be meta 100%
ESL players can’t stack 2 revs for ESL rules, so druid will be in the core team.

I had it a lot of times today, basically queue pop, i accept the queue, and after map selection, loading screen is a bit longer and i get network error.
I try to reconnect, same, loading screen longer and network error.
After 2 or 3 times, i log HOTM and i’ve no queue. No dishonored (never)
Only me?

If you don’t nerf the thief and mesmer (portal) mobility you can’t buff their fight skills, is pretty simple like concept, or you get (like in the past) a superior combo who kills every other roamer combo.
I agree with op, druid necro and scrapper are a little over the top and deserve a little shave before the season starts.

I play god everytime to not have 2 thieves in my team.
Really pls, if you play thief and there is another one in the team reroll class. Unique exception if enemy team has 2 thieves in the same way.

win streak bonus starts at 3 wins in a row…
what do you want, solo que and start getting the bonus when you hit 250 points at game 1?
2 for soloers and 3 for coordinated combinations for example.

A question, they announced something if winstreak for season 2 is indirectly proportional to roster size?
I mean if you’re solo i think you should reach the winstreak bonus with less match than if you go in full preamade.
It’s terrible, no one likes it.
Ranked players are super upset because the level is too low and totally random, so you stomp and you get stomped randomly.
Pro league players almost totally ignore the unranked arena and do only pvt arenas. Streamers don’t want to cast urnanked because is really similar to hot join level (many times hot join is really better and without queue).
Unranked community is upset because they’re receiving a lot of rage/insults from ranked player because they are not at the same level.
Main issue is this time should be used to improve your skill and organization for the next pvp seasons.
This is not possible in urnaked, this game totally lacks of a improvement/practice/training area.
People can’t improve in fight because there are not structured 1vs1 or 2vs2 arenas. With structured arenas i Mean arena where you can simulate conquest situations, so not fight on the nifhhelm beach but on node or in a small area around the node, where joining the game don’t force you to spam like crazy the join button from spectatore mode.
People have a lot of troubles to manage rotations because first of all if you’re weak in fight rotate is really difficult and in every case there is no training/guide/tutorial for this area.
A structured fighting arena (like 1vs1 and 2vs2 with tournament builds not yolo/troll builds) would be amazing and super important to practice.
Anet should really focus on this area.

Yes because there is a rule about it but honestly the scrapper now is better than the old prenerfed hambow in the double cheese hambow meta.
Everything in 1 build, is too much, and everyone knows this.

The main issue is few good players want to play unranked in off season.
esl players and qualified teams for pre-season Tournament are reorganizing teams and roster and They play in pvt arenas.
And other good players without pvp league rewards do something else.
Basically this game lacks of a structured and official training mode like 1vs1 or 2vs2 arena
They are waiting for Scrapper + bristle/smoke nerf

So the conclusion is or you have a good thief in team or probably better to not have a thief in team.
2 thieves sux in every scenario
And 1 thief can have a really hard Life in teamfight and in 1vs1 so basically remains a +1 class.
And not always is possible to do a +1, most of all in a patch where the bunker are not so bunker like before.
There is a thief hype cuz the patch is new and many people didn’realize that thief is not so strong how They think
Reve and Dh guarantee less mobility but a better scenario in duel/teamfight.
Thief is overrated
Usually i get 2k (little more) damage with 1 stack of pi, i can reach more damage only with more stacks. 5k damage with 1 stack sounds weird

I agree, the key is not the profession but the role.
Probably in the next (“soon”) build template system you should insert a flag to define the build role (for example bunker/roamer) and insert this flag in the matchmaking system. At this point you can lock the profession swap at beginning and balancing the matchmaking with a good quantity of bunker/roamer for each teams.
Right now many classes can be bunker or roamer so can work for example for thieves but not for other classes.
General feeling there is a rock/paper/scissor in many builds and professions (and the equilibrium can change a lot in some matchup simply changing 1 of 2 traits) but there is something wrong in scrapper ratio damage/sustain and these 2 ranger pets.
I know Anet is monitoring scrapper but these ranger pets too need attention.
This is why you cant be to generous, because people will never stop asking for more handouts
The game was always buy to play with no trial, anet generously decided to allow people to play the entire base game for free with economic and chat restrictions so that people could try the game before deciding to buy the expansion
Instead of being grateful for even being allowed to play for free, people are now demanding expansion content completely for free
Some people literally ONLY pvp, so your essentially asking anet to give the expansion away for free to those people because if they had the elite specs there is literally ZERO reason to buy the expansion if all they do is pvp
Its essentially the same thing as giving a starving person a sandwich and then having them complain that you didnt give them a lobster dinner
For Spvp, the main thing Anet should prioritize is a very large player base.
Because if spvp has very large player base matchmaking works better, there is more interest about tournaments and pvp, more viral advertising, etc. basically the entire game has advantages to have more players in spvp.
F2P doesn’t work for spvp. Just that, They can download the client and try some games but they realize very soon to not have chance to compete if they don’t buy HoT. It’s a bad advertise, where is the f2p in that?
Works for PVE because you can do 80, visit every core zone, make every world boss and other stuff
But basically you can’t test properly spvp because this huge difference in builds.
So you’re wrong, I’m not asking for every elite spec unlocked, I’m asking for a compromise, to put immediately new players at the same level of veteran/old players at least with 1 elite spec unlocked, because this is the initial philosophy of pvp, skill and experience count, not equip or build.

It’s a possibility, but honestly they should heavily nerf basically everything i dunno if it’s the best way.
For sure, the priority should be to not create a huge gap in builds between new and old players (with hot).
The sense of “pay to win” should be totally reset for spvp, i can undestand easy things like amulet cost or sigils but the gap is too huge between meta build with elite specs and not.
Take a new player, “ehi cool this game has a free to play mode, i want to try spvp!”…..and bam…chain stomped from people with hot meta builds.
Ofc he is a new player and chain stomp is normal, but one thing is to improve yourself with the same weapons…another thing is to be forced to buy an expansion to compete from the beginning at the same build level.
The experience and practice difference should be enough.

Hi, I think Anet had a great idea to put the core side of the game in F2P but i think SPvP can’t really take advantage of F2P because Elite specializations are too much better than the old “core” builds.
Basically every profession has the meta build with the elite spec or the best build possible with the elite spec involved.
This is a huge brake for F2P players because they can’t really try the spvp side of the game at the max potential without the sense of “Pay to win”.
Ofc I understand Anet put a lot of effort in GW2 HoT and they need to monetize their expansion but Spvp needs a really large player base to work well so put immediately this brake for f2p players is not really great.
This has a huge impact on the spvp growing and for the potential future players base.
I think Anet could reach a compromise maybe unlocking just 1 or 2 elite specs for the f2p players (spvp side) and let the players unlock the other elite specs when they buy HoT.
Or another alternative could be use the gem store to unlock the elite specs with gems (always spvp) but i think at least 1 elite spec should go for free.
Sooner they can implement this change, better is for the spvp growing.
PS I had 4 accounts with 3 hot so it’s more for entire spvp community, i don’t have real issues to buy expansions.
I wouldn’t surprise if Anet had a huge revenue from this item.
Price is not cheap (but the patck for 2800 is not really bad) but the QoL is amazing .
For League Champion you need legendary x2 but for this title dev said you need to hit legendary just once.

Yes, and that is true for every MMO I have ever experienced. There is a population in the world that will spend 50 times the 2000 hours you would spend, to “WIN”. They will do nothing but play the game and sleep a few hours, for weeks.
It’s unusual, and you’d think it would be rare. But it is fairly common. They call themselves “hardcore”, rather than obsessed and unbalanced.
They skew the game for the other 99.9% of players who have better things to do with their time, or who have to hold a job.
I agree with you completely about this (and there’re serious studies about this, and quite preoccuping I have to add).
However, the point I was trying to make is that, in a PvP environment, the “prize” should go to the best players, measured by personal and team-wise skill, not to average/bad skilled farmers.
Back in the day, when I played Q3 before the millennium started, it was a really skilled player who was called “hardcore”, while the casual was the average joe, it had nothing to do (as a causation, not correlation of course) with the time spent on the game. I wonder when this shift of meaning happened.

PvP Leagues are designed to be played for every player, not only pro league players. Legendary backpack has a good design, is not designed to be an exclusive for pro league players , but better players will get it faster, average players will need 3 or more seasons at least.
I would readd Glorious Hero armor too for like 100 tickets = 1 piece or more too (in the old leaderboard only top 20 players can get it so it seems fair legendary players can get it).
Then the roster size (if this is the part regarding how many players entered the match as a party) should have a way bigger weight than it has now.

And Ladders should be important but not so heavy like now, when we have ridicolous situations with super huge solo queues for diamond and (most of all) legendary players (basically they can’t play solo, they have a 1h+ queue).

How you see to calculate odds, system uses more parameters (ladder,rank,roster and rating), not only ladder.
Basically you see roster, ladder and rank (many times 80) at the end of the match, what you don’t see is the rating (basically mmr) of each player.
System calculates odds for each side (with this parameters) and the final score decides how many pips, you win/lose

My changes
1. Soloqueue
2. Team queue duo,trio,5men with 5men with a great favor in winning odds
3. Less correlation between division and queue time (for a faster queue)
I think queueing times would increase a lot for the team queue.
As duo or a trio you must wait for a complementary team, since you can’t fill the group with 2-3 solos or duo+solo.
I don’t mind sharing the queue (as a solo queuer) with teams. I may end up facing a whole team with a group of 5 solos sometimes, but there is also a chance that I fill the group for a less-than-5 team.
The matchmaking system should take into account that a team is usually better than the sum of the individuals (I don’t know if it does), and one way of doing this is what I suggested: Use highest MMR of the team for the whole team.
There are probably better ways, though.
At the same time you could add more rewards to team queue to push more people to join in duo, trio, full premade.
The issue now is you get many unfair games with the actual system, like 1112 vs 5 or 1113 vs 5 or 221 vs 5, 1112 vs 14 , 11111vs5 etc.
And basically always u lose a pip if u lose against a premade.
Maybe you can have a bit longer queue but for sure you will have a better and challenging game in this way.
And more people will try team queue if there is more fun and challenging for everyone.

Well, 4 men have several options
3 queue in ranked and 1 in soloqueue
double duo queue in ranked
find a 5th and go in ranked
duo in ranked + other 2 solo guys in soloqueue
4 in solo queue
I think in this way there are too many advantages for the more popular gw2 composition, more challenging and more fun for everyone.
Really little downsides, for sure A LOT less than now.
If Anet added only a soloqueue, without restrictions for team queue, we would have always imbalanced games in ranked with and a solo chance in team queue but basically useless if there is a dedicated soloqueue.

I think you need to be legendary x2.
In every case is bugged, legendary players have only tier 2 of this achievement, should be alteast at 5 tier.
I’m pretty sure Anet said there would be a title for people who hit legendary Division.
Badge will be reset when new season will start but this title will stay.
The question is if this title is already in the game or anet will add it at the end of the season.

When queueing as a team the highest MMR is considered for the whole team.- That would make teaming with lower MMR players useless yet possible.
- That would increase the overall MMR for the matchmaking algorithms, so I think (I might be wrong) that would reduce the queueing times for high MMR teams.
- It is still possible to reduce the MMR to achieve better queueing times if a team of 4 queues as a team of 4, and a random low MMR player is assigned to fill the group. That would be more fair than having a low MMR player of their choice.
I think is not really fair if the entire team takes the higher mmr.
Maybe Anet could limit the grp composition if there is too much difference in mmr/division between members (for example not possible going with diamond/legendary + amber).
This is not easy to solve because I understand there is people who want to play with friends that for many reasons started leagues after or can’t have the same progression rhythm like other players for several reasons (real life stuff most of all) or simply they have a very long queue for high mmr/division players and are penalized for their progression for this reason.
At least, for a soloqueue, this is automatically fixed
With the scenario I’ve illustrated, you have for sure a better experience like solo and team grp.

For the next season:
I think Anet should simply sacrifice the 4 men queue (honestly it’s kinda meh) for an amazing general improvement.

Team queue (duo,trio,5 men)
With 5 men basically can only face other premade with a super high priority or a 3+2 (if there is no other premade in the same mmr/division tier and queue is starting to be too long, with odds in premade favor)
What do you fix in this way?
- A really good solo experience against only other solo players
- not possible to group with people to different divisions to lower mmr in soloqueue
- good solo streaming content
- no casual maps like the old soloqueue with skyhammer/spirit
- very hard to syncro after anet shuffled roster size
- more challenging for premade cuz they face other premades or probably good 3+2 compositions (with always priority for another full premade)
- more fun for everyone
I really hope Anet can take a decision to do a similar thing for the next season.
It would be really great and super fun.

I honestly think the issue is another and different:
It’s so f***ing difficult to make a permanent team.
This is for several reasons but everyone who has a team know the huge effort required to schedule your day with other 4 guys, train together, improve together.
And you have this issue if you have already a team.
Find other 4 guys with the right mentality is another crusade.

Probably a new competitive MAP would be really nice.
But competitive, not SkyHammer/Spirit design.
So no troll stuff or secondary mechanics really far from conquest.
More than a JP, I’d like to see something useful like warm up for the game while waiting.
For example the chance to do some 1vs1 or 2vs2 NOT instance (for example like adventures in pve).
In this way you dont’ need to log a map and you don’t risk to lose the queue for a loading screen.
People shouldn’t lose pips if there is too much difference in “premade composition”
I mean for example if there is a trio on the other side and full solos, full solos shouldn’t lose pips. Never, independently from final score.

Next balance patch will be at the end of the season. This won’t change.
BUT
Esl admins can take the decision to avoid class stacking for pro league.
I think it would be better for the game and specators.
