It doesn’t really matter, because the decay is not permanent. After 3 days of inactivity you will start losing 100 rating per day, up to 700 in total. When you come back, every played match will remove 100 from the decay, so after 7 games your rating will be (roughly) the same as before your inactivity.
kk thanks boys
Hi guys,
just a quickly question. I leave Dec. 22th and will come back after 6 Jan (holidays), so make sense to start now s5 or just wait when I’ll come back to home?
Just to understand how it works the new decay.

Am I the only one to not see the meta achievement?
Some old wintersday achis appeared already completed and no meta achievement.
Well, it was a long journey but I think now you killed definitely the Power revenant from the meta.
Well, We’ll have for sure a solo queue duo queue in Season 5, it’s pretty obvious.
To well determined if this will be a solid change in the game we need to consider more pieces of the puzzle, Anet said they will bring many changes to the system so mainly we need to see if they switch the system from a grind system to a rank ladder system (basically more or less what we had with the old soloqueue leaderboard).
So if Legendary, Diamond etc. will be linked to the rank (=mmr and is a very good thing for a competitive game) is pretty obvious a mixed queue can’t work at all because full teams have too big advantage.
We need to evaluate it when Anet will give use more infos about Season 5
They real problem is for people who like to play in 5 in ranked because is the only way they have to win and to climb divisions, chain stomping disorganized guys with random setup and random mmr.
If you like to play in 5 for fun and for guild missions unranked is the way
if you like to play in 5 for a competitive goal, skirmish in pvt arenas is the way.
if you like to improve yourself like a player, map awareness etc, solo or duo queue is the way.Don’t know why so many passive aggressiveness and generalisation has been passed around here, OP is not asking for “solo/duoQ vs Premade”, he’s asking “why not both?”
Trial season for season 5 can’t exactly work as a reason for not having both though, you can also have 2 queues in trial season as well and it actually gives more teamQ perspective for those who play teamQ.
Because there is no point to have only a queue for full teams and having super long queues or team with 500 mmr against a team with 1500 mmr after 30 min queue (just an example.)
Anet has good metrics about this and for sure they realized a full team will work badly in this game right now.
But I agree Anet could introduce in a better way this poll, giving more motivations (pro/cons) for soloqueue and duo queue and not a team queue.
Maybe for some guy is obvious but for the majoirty isn’t.

Dunno why people is surprised, it’s the same majority we had since forever, when they put soloqueue in the game and the majority complained when Anet removed it.
No surprise at all honestly, Majority of people play solo or with a friend, this is better for matchmaker because this change simplifies it, less parameters to consider, better way to evaluate players, more chance to have a balanced game.
(edited by philheat.3956)
Too many people reach legendary because They go in full premade against soloers/semi pug. Going in full premade in ranked has sense only if you face another full premade every time with a similar skill level, but it doesnt happen, so is basically farming and stop.
And mmr of people who go in full premade is really more higher than going solo and this makes a lot of issues for matchmaker, trying to Make a balanced Game every time.
This is because a mixed queue works badly in the Game.
A 5 men only queue risk to have super long queue + unbalanced games because too few teams will play it.
If full team wants to have their space to play together and have fun unranked is the right place.
Solo / duo queue is a really nice idea, to be honest I dunno if it is better only a pure solo queue instead of duo. An ESL duo queue can make a huge difference in a game if there isn’t another ESL duo queue (with similar skill) on the other side.
This is more a problem for high tier, in low and medium tier there is basically no difference.
problem whith duo are the same that brokens the previosus seasons, how the matchmaker adress their score to put in a group whithout umbalancing the match, using the lower(first season) put top players in low rank matches and is xploitable, using the upper puts low players in higher rank matches disturbing the other team players, ponderating the two aritmetically can put a high and a low player in mid rank games and if the higher is so higher can be xploitable so.
the only solution is pure solo or pure 5 man prmade,
Well, Anet addressed this issue, giving higher value to every team members, is really rare to see a very good player with a very bad player right now, is basically an autonerf for the team who tried to do this.
Like I said the real problem is when 2 really strong players go together and there is not the same situation on the other side. It’s only an high tier issue because in low mid tier the skill value is not strong enough to carry an entire team.
And like I said a full team queue is only bad for this game right now in ranked, very few teams, high risk to face too strong opponents or super long queues.
Maybe the return of a pure solo queue is the best option.

It’s a nice idea, having 8 spvp maps (with 4 in betas) is enough for now, a smart HOTM rework (with some pvp activities inside, really like the 1vs1 or 2vs2 non instanced idea) would be really cool.
“Legendary Matchmaker Hater”
Already suggested, devs Liked the Idea, maybe we’ll have something similar.
Maybe
Want to wait before to judge but honestly maps are not the main issue here for spvp.
Matchmaker, League structure and rewards are.
There are raids guilds around who organize teaching runs or pug who organize practice runs.
Just avoid high requirements guild/pug If you don’t enough experience.
Focus on one or two roles at beginning and learn what you need to do against every boss.
Thats 4 months minimum,if your killing all 9 raid bosses a week.what sort of tinny fraction of raiders can do that? 150 insights is probably more like a year+ to MR average.
and that 150 insights will do more to put people off raids than any thing else.
And putting people off even trying raids dont do the future of raids much good.
Yeah but all starts to put the legendary armors only for raids that are the most difficult content in the game
So it sounds good only a little % can do this in 4 months and average players can always to do this in more months.
Terrible players too can do this in like 75 weeks killing only trio + w3 boss 1 every week.
In concept is similar to legendary backpack pvp with the difference you need other 9 players to do this.
So it’s more difficult for sure but we are always talking about a LEGENDARY FULL ARMOR SET (6 pieces).
BTW I really hope most of all they can design absolutely amazing skins for legendary armor because the effort is really high.
I think 150 is too much given the rate at which they’re obtained. The time gate on legendary armor is massive in comparison to any other legendary anything currently, and it doesn’t make sense for it to be. Four months of killing every single raid boss is simply more than is reasonable, especially in comparison with the month time gate on Gifts of Craftsmanship.
Well, you need 8 weeks min. for a legendary fractal backpiece, 4 months for a full set of legendary armor doesn’t sound so bad in comparison.
Btw in general I’m not a fan about time gate stuff.
Well, considering you need minimum 8 weeks to get the fractal legendary backpack, 4 months + for a full Legendary armor doesn’t sound so bad.
The first boss is a smart move from Anet to entroduce basically an “entry level raid boss for new players”, I don’t think is a coincidence there is no timer, so I think is a good boss to let new people approach raids.
For veteran is like a warmup, just a relaxed boss with fun mechanics.
The KC requires a lot of coordination, I think the difficulty is between Sabetha and Matthias, but it depends on Strategy, if you learn to kill projections really quick + fast CC the entire run not hard but you need to stay focus.
I dunno Xera, I need to kill her
What can she do with the left hand? I mean, what buttons can she press?
Considering she is playing with basically only 1 hand I can say the pov is not really bad.
Or At least I know a lot of people who play worst with 2 hands
I honestly find DH pretty good for the pvp league. Good sustain and condi removal, very good pressure on node. Great matchup against mesmer and thieves and can create some troubles to other professions. Yeah, for pvp pro league is a bit too much predictable but is viable for sure for leagues.
Can create a lot of troubles in a not organized environment so is not really weak imho is a really better state than the old warrior and thief in S1.
I heard there is a bug with Scorched Earth + Cleansing Ire, Currently it removes 6 condis instead of 3.
Anet should fix this asap.
Just don’t rush the Season and everything gonna be fine.
There is always a priority on people in the same division so it’s pretty normal.
Just some daily games and after doing something else.
Timer is not really the problem.
Boss mechanics
Personal skill and rotation
And most or all, handle well both of them during the fight are main reasons why people fail.
The last known statement on this was from the economist who felt runes needed to be left as is so they have a place in the market.
For example They could use a system where you require to buy once 1 single rune/sigil for every piece of armor/weapons and after that you have unlocked it on that piece and you can switch it as much as you can.
I don’t think it would have a big impact on the market BUT it would be great for legendaries.
Well, the meta (raids) now is more dynamic, I Mean before HoT and Raids was all zerker and gg
Now we have Zerker and Viper like META prefix + some variance in professions like Ranger and Mesmer (magi/cleric/viper/zerker/zealot/commander etc.)
For 3k gold+ (more or less the cost of a single legendary armor) I think it would be a really nice feature.
Hi,
is there any official statement by Anet about this feature? I mean the chance to unlock runes once and change them whenever you want with a Legendary armor. And I think Legendary weapons should have the same feature with sigils.
Considering the super high cost for Legendary, this would be the definitive feature for them.
That fact is:
This pro league was ruined by a DDoS attack. Totally ruined. From a players and spectators prospective.
The fact there is no rematch chance or better, the chance to put the game in pause is a big issue for the competitive side of this game.
It’s pretty clear Anet needs to do something, changing rules, changing pvp structure with the pause option or both of them.
Spectators are the key for every show, if specators and players are not happy the show just die.
What’s the sense to have a pro league without specators and with teams unhappy?
I think Ventari’s Will should be reworked in a burst heal every tot sec. (30, like other heals). Keep the passive regen if you don’t use the burst heal.
I find Ventari really interesting, utilities and elite are pretty good but I find Ventari’s Will not really well designed for all gw2 game areas (pvp too).
A bit too complex to use and not really effective.
The majority of my hot mastery exp came from TD + DS with exp buff active.
Honestly I’d like to have a chance to buy Ascended weapons/armors with a balanced amount of pristine fractals (high)
It’s a little weird in the main content where you need Ascended to progress you can buy only rings and backpiece and you have weapons/armor only behind a rng.
Or They could add a new currency for high fractals to buy Ascended/Golden weapons too, I remember there was a topic about this issue.
Yeah I agree, for me best improvement would be:
You got a weekly cap for fails but if you kill every boss once during the week you get the full magnetite reward.
This means if you kill for example VG twice during the week, you get full magnetite rewards only once but you can kill every single boss and get the full magnetite reward from each one. Basically this quantity is separated from the “fails cap”.
I think is a good compromise.
In this way you avoid the total farming and you have more satisfaction (in terms of rewards) cleaning every wing.
(edited by philheat.3956)
I assume you mean the little brown chests?
If so, what I have found is if you kill trio the one on the wall bugs,
and if you kill Matthias all chests remaining seem to bug out for the week.
The only work around is going into an instance where only sloth has been killed or where sloth and trio have been killed but not Matthias, depending on which chests you need.
Thank you, btw I reported this bug.
Anet said something about double the cap or at least put cap for fails but guarantee always Magnetite Shard If you kill the boss? (at least for each different boss weekly)
I’m pretty new in raids but I’m having a lot of fun killing bosses but I find this cap really bad to involve always more people during the entire week to do raids.
It’s a big limitation, I’m really sure we can get a compromise here.
Dunno maybe with W3 incoming
(edited by philheat.3956)
I cleared the entire wing 2 today, opened 2 chest and i got the reward.
After few hours, when I tried to re-enter in my instance (all cleared) I couldn’t open the last 2 chest, I hadn’t the option to open (chest closed)
am I missing something?
Thx
I think the main issue is that raids is basically a content very difficult to face with a pug.
Or you are really super elitist and lucky and you can get only people that They know the mechanics really well or besides vg is difficult to go.
It’s because raid requires a lot of practice and pug people don’t have the patience to improve.
Or you get people already trained and Ready or disband is inevitable.
The main way is find a solid grp of people.
Pug can be good to upgrade Your experience or If super lucky to have good runs, but main goal should be find the right guild raid for you.
Or create a new one with good people you find in pugs.
2vs2 or 3vs3 with no respawn and multiple rounds
Ranked off season.
Map with no too many loS spots (A reworked courtyard)
I’m really sure a game mode like this would have more players and spectators than Pro league.
Well there are a lot of hot topics about spvp issues, QoL changes and structural changes
From one side there is the necessity to help players and spectators to understand better the game, so improved spectator mode, replay, slow motion, rework some animations, practice 2vs2 arena gamemode, etc.
From the other side there are the usual structural issues, matchmaking, off season, progression, rewards etc. Every area should be improved.
Balance ofc is another chapter, is always a issue
Can you do the same thing you did for the www community?
I found this interaction extremely good to analyze priorities.
Thx
I’m starting to do raids and I think for new raids players the best way is to find a mid step between 2 sides:
1) Gear .This means having the best meta equip/build for a very good start point. Food too. Basically everything is required about gear to face raids properly. This is expensive I Know, but no one force us to do raids before we have the necessary equip.
2) Study . Linked to point 1. This means watch videos, read guides, have someone who explains you how bosses work. Having the knowledge of the fight is very very good, doesn’t matter if you don’t have the right experience at beginning, is normal, but this means you want to learn, you want to be good to do raids.
3) Looking for teaching/not too much elitist raids run This is important at beginning. It’ useless to look for raids squad who have too much experience, High LI requirements etc. or you’re lucky and people is patient with you or you risk only a fast kick + more possible block. So Look the LFG A LOT or try to look for a guild who organizes teaching runs.
I’m an experienced pvp player but the initial approach for raids is not really different from an approach to a spvp team.
This will be my tactic, I’m very beginner for raids.
If you have other suggestions, pls give me
(edited by philheat.3956)

From my prospective, absolutely not.
it seems Anet added new shortcuts (most of all for world 2), are there any videos about these?
Thx
Well, I remember the original discussion about Tomes to Masteries exp, but I think it could be balanced with how much exp 1 tome gives.
Maybe dunno 250 tomes just 1 mastery exp level.
Don’t forget you always require the hero points to complete all masteries (I’ve exped all masteries on my other main account) so you always require to do a lot pve to complete all masteries
It could be a way to not interrupt your mastery progression while you are doing spvp
In every case you require to do a lot of pve to complete them.
And maybe it could work only for Core Tyria Masteries. Not necessarily HoT masteries.
This was my initial intention for this topic.
(edited by philheat.3956)
Hi,
like pvp player I’m starting to have tons of these Tomes, basically useless for me.
Can give us some way to convert X tomes in some masteries exp?
I’d really appreciate that.
Not asking for a super strong conversion but something can help pvp players to exp a little their masteries.
Dunno maybe only Core Tyria.
Ty.
What are some suggestions for Legendary Titles?
Dunno If it’s possible, but it would be really cool at the end of s4, having an achievement + title like “Ascension Legend” unlocked only If you reached in every season the legendary division (so you already have all primordial , exalted etc. Titles).
Really “legendary”
Interesting. . .
Alright let’s say that you need to include “Legend” in the title. What titles would you suggest?
Yeah, Considering this would be an aggregator title for s1,2,3,4 legendary division of this year, I think something linked to “Year of Ascension” it would be fine.
Something capable to make this title recognizable for this specif year of pvp leagues.
It’s the year of the ascension, so something who makes the idea you completed the ascension in an amazing way.
Dunno maybe “Divine Legend”, “Ascended Legend”, “Transcended Legend”, “Infinite Legend”, “Maximum legend”, something like that.

Really “legendary”
What are they gonna analyze though?
“Yeah Jim, the time when they all came to mid and spammed aoe on the point for 30 seconds was really clutch.”
“Yep, I agree with that Bill. The problem the other team had is that they didn’t spam their aoes quite hard enough.”
This comment is the proof this game needs desperately replay tool or similar.
There are a lot of good plays during a big fight or duels, many times the right timing and good positioning makes the difference.
But simply the majority of the spectators and casters can’t catch that during the streaming .
I think you’re drastically overestimating the amount of clutch moments that happen in team fights. An even-numbered team fight is 90% of the time nothing but aoe spam until something happens that tips the balance.
That’s not to say there are no skilled plays, because there are. The key is that the skilled plays are almost entirely restricted to broader team strategy and tactics; the portal into a stagnant fight that cleans it up, the rapid response by the roamer to +1 and consolidate a point. However, there’s a very limited amount of those in games and an even more limited amount of discussion that can occur about them.
Even duels are hardly worthy to discuss. If it’s an even duel then it’s boring to watch two people slug it out. If it’s an uneven duel then there’s usually not much to say past ‘yep, they died pretty quick’. Maybe a short analysis of a mistake or poor play, but now they’re really stretching for time.
Ultimately, this game isn’t like LoL or other mobas. There are no team itemization strategies to discuss, no counter-building, no counter-picking, rarely are there changes to strategy mid-game, and big fights are a clusterkitten of skills and aoe spam that not only are difficult to cast and analyze, but hold very little useful information to deconstruct in an analysis. GW2 is just not a good spectator sport, and that’s basically how it’ll always be.
I don’t agree with you, there are a lot of things could be underline during the fight, the support from ele or druid, the timing to focus the right target, the capacity of 1 player to disengage or finding a better position, right rotations, understand when leave and when stay etc.
There are all things right now with this bad camera and with this continuous camera switch from casters you can’t see well in the game. It’s a fact.
There are all things every pro player can do really well and if underlined and explained to “plebs” can help really a lot the game to grow.
If people think “win who has more aoe damage” I’m sorry but higher level this game doesn’t work in this way.
There are A LOT of things a pro player does and a low med player doesn’t or doesn’t know, it’s simple a fact.
This game at high level is really fun to play but basically only pro players (I’d say mainly 4-5 teams) know really well how deep is the gameplay at high level
Casters analysis is terrible
