a) how can you assume people here know what that actually is?
b) for suggestions, you should not use WoW references. Just describe what a feature does as many people will instantly dismiss your idea based on the fact it is from WoW.
It’s a fair assumption considering WoW is one of the largest MMOs in the market and this is an MMO game.
Not many people actually care if you reference other MMOs (even WoW), only people with something against it specifically or ex-players seem to make a fuss about it.
Sorry Joshua, but as someone already stated the idea of someone being able to look up your gear and build and critique you for not playing the zerker meta could be a terrible idea.

Anybody have pictures of Male Norn Revenant in armor? I want to see what that looks like.
Unfortunately we had to create a human character for the beta.
Linking the armour skins in chat for outside of the test area couldn’t be clicked and worn in a preview either.

I had a lot of fun trying out the events and seeing if I could keep the Revenant skins somehow!
Didn’t crash out at all and managed to grab a few screenshots.
I believe they mentioned somewhere that that was on purpose to give it a strength amongst the limitations of the class.
Extra heals to counter the lack of weapon swap and having to manage your energy constantly during a fight (more of an issue when it comes to WvW and PvP I’d imagine)
I didn’t feel like having 2 heals was overpowered during the fights in the stress test, but we didn’t have much time to be thorough.
It was just a stress test, there will be other betas. If they add a preorder for the expansion pack, then you can say you “paid for the game” otherwise you’ve just paid for the base game and as it stands you have no more rights than anyone else to play the beta for a paid expansion.
Only really had 4 issues in the stress test and 1 isn’t huge.
1. Searing Fissure on mainhand axe didn’t state it was a fire field.
2. Framerate drop was huge during the Wyvern fight.
3. Mastery window didn’t close using the Esc key.
4. Couldn’t get the mushroom jump to work despite having mastery points in it.
Just my 2 cents.
I’m wondering why you don’t invite all players from the main pvp teams on both EU and NA. Considering you’re advertising Stronghold and the Revenant so much, it’d be smart to give players that fuel the scene the opportunity to test and learn the map and class BEFORE big tournaments instead of having to learn on the fly, or worse, have some teams have access and others not… That’s how any company would do if they were wanting a healthy scene with teams that actually have game knowledge and legitimacy, not just 5 people that like playing together and have a lot of free time.
And yea, I’m pretty kittened not being considered “loyal enough” or not “elligible enough” or whatever.
This beta event is a server stress test, not an “oh look at that thing” event, it’s also on the PvE map so PvP teams don’t really factor in – outside of PvP they’re just normal players.
No-one said you weren’t loyal enough, you just weren’t lucky enough to be chosen in the list of thousands of fans that are just as loyal as you are.
Guys can we avoid personal attacks and trolling, we don’t want this thread to be locked.
Loyalty isn’t defined by how long you’ve played or how much you’ve spent, it was defined as “He who signs up for a mailing list, posts in the forum and plays the game shall be judged loyal” the mailing list being the key factor – if you sign up for it, you’re loyal enough for a chance at an invite. It’s pot luck after that, you’ll get another chance in a different beta event.
Can we get a definition on what Anet defines as “loyal”?
I’m not salty, because i know what these stress tests involve, a lot of disconnecting, lag and attempting to log in, just curious as to what classes you as a “loyal” player in order to get a beta invite.
Or is it just a kitten poor choice of wording, and in actual fact, it’s completely random who got invited?
They already said it’ll be people that signed up for the newsletter, are active in game and active in the forums. After all that, it’s random.
If you didn’t get in, it doesn’t mean they don’t think you’re loyal enough – just that you weren’t lucky enough to be chosen in the list of thousands that signed up and did the same things you did.
There are no wrongs to make right. The OP and others are talking about why they prefer GW2 over ESO. This is the GW2 forum so it is fair game to say why you like their game over others on their game forums. And no, many of those threads went on for some time. They may have been closed eventually but not swiftly by any means.
Calling a game bad in a forum where it’s unlikely to have any fans is in poor taste, so I’d say there’s plenty wrong there.
Guild Wars is in a good place, we don’t need to bash on other MMOs to say that our game is good fun.
I would love a shirt (if XL)! Assuming posting here enters me, I’ll put in what I put in the other giveaway thread (and note the HoT Tshirts are awesome and they are not in the other giveaway). Because I meant it there and I mean it here.
Just in case he doesn’t notice your reply, he’s been asking people to post a comment on the video he linked on youtube and said he’ll be looking through those for the winner.
Don’t want you missing out on the chance to win in any case! (Even if I’m lowering my own odds of winning :P )
Whats the uk equivalent time for the test?
-7 hours I think?
So 5 to 7 then 10 to 12Cool, cheers
No, no. The first email had the GMT (UK time) already in it, it’s 7pm to 9pm then midnight to 2am.
TBH I am probably b& from the beta program cos of the number of infractions/suspensions I’ve had on here!
I only rage because I care <3
Nah, I have been infracted a bunch (WvW forum flaming so it doesn’t really count
) and I’m in. You just got unlucky, you might get in the second one!
Ahh but there was a time here on the forum where people were saying ESO was going to be the GW2 killer. Of course there was a time when WildStar was too and so on. So I think it is fair.
Two wrongs don’t make a right, and I’m almost positive most of those threads were closed swiftly.
I appreciate the help! I have two emails associated with my NCSoft Master Account (something irrelevant to GW2, however pertains to GW1). I do have access to both email accounts and have attempted on many occasion to sign up for the newsletter. One is a yahoo address and the other is a personal address (so they’re not the same email provider). One of these two are associated directly with my Guild Wars 2 account (and my Guild Wars 1 account). I’ve tried using different web browsers (Firefox, IE, Chrome, and Safari on my mobile) and I’ve registered every other day for the first week with the registration issues and then once a week after and have never received any confirmation that my emails have been accepted by the system.
Yes, the tests are only two hours in duration each, but it’s what my guild is going to be doing and it’s going to be what they’re talking about when they’re not doing it. I’m going to be left out of the loop with them, and it’s hurtful since we do everything in game together.
It just makes me sad. They’re apparently in the stress testing phase already; couldn’t they have just invited everyone? It seems so many have gotten in…
I don’t believe I received a confirmation of sign up either, yet I did get into the beta. I’m afraid it sounds like you just weren’t picked in that case, though I’m sure Gaile or someone at Anet could confirm your sign up if you asked.
I understand how much that sucks and I am genuinely sorry you’re missing out on guild activities and the beta in general.
Ouch, I bought ESO just ahead of its re-release and I’m loving it.
It’s a mad cross between Skyrim and Morrowind and my nostalgia is going overboard with it and I’m thoroughly enjoying it.
That said, I’m enjoying it as an Elder Scrolls game first, rather than an MMO and Guild Wars is still my main game that I play daily for hours on end during my main gaming hours.
I don’t think it’s particularly fair to ridicule a game in another games main forum considering the people here (myself included) are Guild Wars 2 fans, it’s a little biassed and it wouldn’t be nice to turn fans of both franchises off from purchasing the game if they read this.
BTW, I just bought a Shatterer figure the other day, to add to my GW2 Shrine.
Fancy sending it to Edinburgh? :P
Or Falkirk cough, cough, amusingly I entered your giveaway and subscribed and didn’t realise you were so close!
Anyway, you’re doing a great thing. Nice one!
Bleh, I’m not surprised I didn’t get an e-mail despite supporting this game since GW1. (Got GWAMM from GW1, and 5k hrs on GW2 now)
My luck always fails me.Obviously not one of the most loyal players. /sarcasm
This is frustrating. All my active (logging in at least once every two days — typically every day) guild friends (eight people) got one, except me.I love this game, but apparently I’m to be shunned because I’m not loyal enough, apparently. Feelings. Hurt.
At least all those popular streamers that don’t actually care about the game probably got in. At least I can take comfort in that. Wait. That’s not comfort.
Edit: I am literally about to cry though. Out of all the regulars in my guild, I won’t be joining them when they first set foot into the new area together. Together, without me.
This beta lasts for two 2 hour sessions, you won’t be shunned for long!
That said, is there a specific reason you can’t sign up for the mailing list? If it’s due to not having the accounts email, I’d email support on your current email and ask to swap it over (they’ll need specific details like game key, possible receipts etc). If you do it sooner rather than later you should be in with a bigger chance to get into the next beta event!
Did they mention video or streaming? I kinda wanted to show some of my guildies who were not able to get in to this one.
No NDA, sounds like video and streaming is fine.
Hey hey
Does some of you know how to get into the beta account if you have an invitation?
Do we get an extra email with the account data? or just logging in with our normal data and stuff and its the beta ?
I’m confused
Says in the email:
> Log into your normal account
> There will be a new character slot specifically for the beta, use this to create a human character
> Log into your new character and you’ll be taken to the test server
> ? ? ? ? ?
> Profit.
That’s pretty much it
. I’m not sure what a stress test beta is for. Are they stressing the server or the mechanics? Also does it matter if I can’t participate in both time slots? I’m really busy at work so I can make the 5-7 PST slot but not the 12-2 PST slot.
Stressing the test server usually, we’ll be logging in to see if the servers can handle a large load of players. It doesn’t matter if you can’t make both, it would be beneficial to have as many players on at both time frames, but isn’t mandatory!
That said, feel free to send them bug reports if you find issues!
AM and PM are for me always a bit confusing as I am not native English speaker. A 24h time table wouldnt hurt for future emails
The lack of AM and PM distinction in other countries has never crossed my mind! I added a 24h time as a reply to someone elses post (probably just above this) if you still need it.
So for me as French, it will be when? @ _ @ <unclear>
1900 til 2100 GMT on Tuesday 24th of March, then 0000 til 0200 GMT on Wednesday 25th of March. (France is currently GMT+1 so it’ll be 2000 til 2200 and 0100 til 0300 respectively)
You’re free to take screenshots and share them around (confirmed in email)
You’re expected to play as you like and report any bugs you find so go wild.
Betas are great fun so enjoy it, I know I will!
I just got the invite aswell, VERY confusing text and full with errors (as far as i understand english)?
Could somebody explain me the times and days for Dutch? i cant figure it out myself.
The wording in the email was fine, it’s just that they said “Thursday” instead of “Tuesday”.
I used google translate to try Dutch so take this with a pinch of salt.
Beta is on the 24th of March at 7pm until 9pm gmt and again at midnight until 2am GMT.
You log into your normal account for this and there will be an open “beta” character slot so you can make a character specifically for the beta and logging into that will take you to the closed beta area.
Are you sure you’ve gotten an official mail?
According to this post, it clearly says Tuesday:
Gaile, I received 2 emails, one saying Thursday and the second saying Tuesday. Looks like someone made a mistake the first time round and corrected it with a second email. (edit: the header of the second email also includes “(Correction)” at the end.)
(edited by psizone.8437)
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Forgotten_Seal these now have an upgrade slot so use them for a nice free account bound level 80 exotic accessory with selectable stats!
There’s an even smaller change they could make to decrease the price slightly.
Reduce the scrap cost of making a bolt to 2 instead of the current 3.
Currently every other piece of cloth requires 2 scraps to make a bolt, silk is the only exception.
any chance of getting /officer chat? would be so much helpfull… what do you guys think?
Do you mean commander chat?
Or guild officer? With commander chat, all you need to do is join their squad and use /squad. For guild officers, there guild chat and PM.
Other then those, I am not sure what you are asking for…
Guild officer chat visible only for them, i know there is guild chat or PM, or i can group with officers in PT or with comm.
But what if i want to do some dungeon run or join que for PvP? Im forced to PM them one by one, thats just not making any sense
Dungeons and PvP is limited to 5 man parties anyway, you could easily just party up.

I did that this time though last time I did so I received no reply and people kept seeing the hacker around.
I check them all, but most cheaters don’t cheat 24/7. That said I knock at least one out every day.
that is good to hear
Agreed. Thanks for that, Michael. It’s reassuring just to know you’re reading them and completely understand why you couldn’t reply to the mails.
I got your in game name from an enemy player in game so wasn’t entirely sure I was sending the mails to the correct person in any case.
It’s you again! Oh how we (haven’t) missed you.
Hmm?

I’m fairly sure I know who you’re refering to. He does it in the middle of our zergs and I have reported it.
Btw: We had two flying FoW mesmers in bay earlier this week so keep your eyes open if you play night.
The ranger in the guild with the guild tag starting with the letter T was the one I fought just before posting this (that should be vague enough to avoid infractions.
That’s my point, every server (including mine) has people using speed hacks and jump hacks and it’s a massive problem. Hell I saw someone in my server using a speed hack to farm Iron ore in our borderland, it was bizarre.
One thing that has always irked me about this issue is that there’s no report option for “hacking/exploiting”. It’s sometimes annoying enough to try and right-click on the person while they’re blinking away in order to report them at all (which gets to be impossible if they break through the ground), but then when you do, there’s no option to report them for what they’re actually doing.
I generally select “botting” for my report option, but I don’t feel that’s entirely accurate. My concern here is that I’m reporting them for something they’re technically not doing, and thus someone might look at it and say “no, that person wasn’t botting, they were definitely playing the game as evidenced by X, Y, and Z”, and thus nothing is done about it.
Yeah, that bothers me too. It further adds to the “if we don’t acknowledge it, it isn’t happening in our game” attitude they’re projecting.
I’ve blocked a few of these cheaters in the past to monitor them and it annoys me to no end that even though an entire server sees them hacking away, because Anet didn’t see them, they can continue to do it without consequence months down the line.
There are lots of servers with no queue’s, and lots of times of the day as well. I can see that this wouldn’t be a problem if you have a huge map queue. But for servers that next to never queue, this can be irksome.
Thankfully not been bothered by this myself.
Yup, the other day there I encountered an enemy Necro that did this every time he was downed and laughed every time he returned. No queues down my end so there’s no down side for people that do this, a small issue, but an issue regardless.
More and more players are abusing a hack that allows them to “shadowstep” forward in small segments to escape any enemy at high speed regardless of their class.
Anet have made it clear that they need to see the hack going on first hand before they can do something about these individuals.
How about someone comes on here and tells us who is monitoring the NA and EU side at which times so we can actually fix this issue?
Posts like this get deleted often and “naming and shaming” gets you forum banned so try not to name names, as hard as it is to resist.
Stop hiding these issues and address them, Anet.
Mods, don’t you dare lock this thread. Dont. You. Dare.
I happen to agree with the original post quite a bit. Why am I to be taunted for 3 seconds when I choose to interrupt a target? I am in favor for trait lines that define player builds or drastically change the way skills play.
Well all other classes have access to similar traits that activate on an incoming interrupt http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Control_effect#Traits_which_activate_upon_a_control_effect
I don’t think it’ll be that bad, nor will it be used if it’s sister trait “Redeeming Protection” keeps its 5 second cooldown for a 3 second protection on disable.
I do hope they add it, but sorry guys, I’d like this to be a pvp feature only, or at least locked in WvW. Can you imagine roaming in WvW as a power thief, you run into an engi, get rekt but manage to escape in a well timed Shadow Refuge. The engi know which way you’re heading, and you know you’re doomed. So while you’re still out of combat, while stealthed, you switch to condi cheese p/d, and kill the engi. See the problem? But for pvp it’s definitely a must, especially if profession MMR becomes a thing, and if Stronghold and Conquest share a queue.
I don’t think it’ll be that much of an issue, if you let your enemy get out of combat in WvW you should be assuming the next enemy you fight will be different anyway (even if you’re chasing someone).
Though they could always limit the build swapping to spawn areas if people think it’s that much of an issue.
It’s one of the most asked for options so one would hope they’d add it at some point.
I don’t think it’ll come with the expansion as it could easily cause bugs that could hinder the release and cause bad reviews so I’d imagine they’ll either release something like this in a feature pack before or after the expansions release.
Sure. there you go :^)
And now with a little more details viewable? Looking forward next version.
Just click on the picture on twitter, it will show up a bigger version. It is a character status window, covered by item info popup. So, nothing interesting, really.
Yup, that’s pretty much it. Shame really.
Personally I don’t see anything yet which is ‘alarming’ in the revenant traits. The only thing which ‘alarms’ me is the statement made in the mmorpg.com article which said ArenaNet weren’t creating legend-based trait lines because they wanted to force players to legend swap as often as possible rather than focus on one. But here we have two revealed legend-based trait lines. Mmm.
Do we? I see one trait that actually goes with a Legend. They may have similar themes and synergy, but in no way do you have to equip Jallis to get use out of their Toughness line, nor do you have to have traits in the Toughness line to make use of Jallis.
Just double checked, this guy is right. Only one trait in the “corruption” line requires a “Demon Legend”. The other lines look completely “legend required” free.
In fairness, for the classes we have we have more traits that require the use of certain skills anyway, for example Guardians need to use meditations to use the meditation traits, and Warriors need to use shouts to use the shout traits and so on, yet you’re more than free to use those trait lines with a shout Guardian or a signet Warrior.
I personally like the way the traits are set up right now.
It might be because you didn’t acknowledge that the Hammer that they showed in the POI video was a 1200 ranged weapon.
Oh. My bad. One skill(s) makes it a non-melee-based class now. Silly me.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Hammer (Revenant)
Despite all the videos and information showing the class meleeing with melee-based auras?
Come on, now.
http://dulfy.net/wp-content/uploads/2015/02/gw2-revenant-hammer-skills1.jpg
More than one skill. It’s a ranged weapon.
Is there a reason you’re getting so bent out of shape about my answer? You asked a question, and I gave you my response. Also, the LiveStream videos showed all melee combat in some, way, shape or form.
What does it matter to you if I do or don’t play the new class? I did decide ahead of time, based on the evidence presented from various sources.
My apologies if that’s not to your liking.
It might be because you didn’t acknowledge that the Hammer that they showed in the POI video was a 1200 ranged weapon.
Yes, but by the same token it can be argued that its a value add for bridge the gap between original content and new content. Perhaps splitting the difference so the cost is a part of the xpac, but it won’t amount to whatever the full cost would have been.
But then people who have already played season 2, which will be the majority of players, would be paying more for content they already have so that other, less dedicated(sorry but in this case it’d be true) players get it for free.
It’s a nice idea, but I couldn’t see it happen, nor would I happy about it.
So basically what you want is for people who haven’t unlocked season 2 yet to get more from buying the expansion than those who have unlocked season 2?
This is pretty much the reason they probably won’t include it.
Not everyone got season 2 for free, some purchased episode later so if they released HoT with it included then there would likely be a bit of an outcry where people would most likely ask for refunds for season 2 and ultimately cost Anet money.
Yeah technically we get specializations.. But other than that… The current professions (non specialized) wont get anything?
Probably not, they haven’t announced anything but the expansion pack is geared more towards adding more content through the new class and the new Specialisations system.
Fixing old skills and traits or adding new ones to the base class would feel more natural in a feature pack.
What? You think there’s no reason for me to get recompensation for playing the game? Then please explain to me why you should be recompensated for using a shortcut that effectively makes you skip playing the game???
He didn’t say that. In an ideal world, people who went the long way in getting the traits would receive the gold it would have cost to purchase it as compensation.
Not that any of us are likely to get anything, but in a sense we’re all in the same boat when it comes to how poorly the trait system was revamped due to high gold costs and some traits being an absolute pain to unlock through playing.
As a disclaimer, I’ve spent very little on the new system. As a liberal estimate, I’d say 10g, tops. It matters very little to me.
That said, this is not in the same league as the trait manuals at all. Trait manuals had a total value of just over 3g per character to unlock all traits. Under the current system, you could spend up to 43 gold and 360 skill points per character, if you were so inclined. No doubt there are some players who have done so, and they would have every right to be furious if that much gold and that many skill points were suddenly invalidated.
I’ll be one of the slightly peeved players unfortunately. Having levelled perhaps 8 characters on the new system, gaining the traits for free would have been far too time consuming to be an option for me so I ended up spending what must be 100, perhaps 200 gold on traits alone.
I wouldn’t expect to receive any money back as compensation, but this change is being released much later than it should have been.
1. Base professions are getting the Specialisations
2. Most likely nothing, as far as we know. You’re given the option of using the “Chronomancer” to use new weapons, skills and traits, but that seems to be it for now.
3. Using a Specialisation removes some skills, traits and possibly base class mechanics. Using the Specialisations won’t necessarily be better than the base classes but will instead provide different playstyles and build options.
4. No word on this, probably not with the expansion pack but in a future (or sooner) feature pack, maybe.
Does some of you know how to get into the beta account if you have an invitation?
