I see, I see! I would love the F-Gyro to be that way.

But the same could be said for other Elite specs. For example, I run Druid on my Rangers but only for the traits, I practically never use Celestial Form other than as a condi cleanse.

The Elite specs are meant as an optional choice for the class, it doesn’t mean it has to do something better than other classes and for me, the Function Gyro works great.

Not every Elite spec is ideal or beneficial for every game mode or situation, Scrapper isn’t always going to be better than running Engineer traits instead. Like I said earlier, wait for the next Elite spec to release if you want something more useful for standard PvE.

Kind of an added note not comply part of the rez / spike effect of function gyro but more related to all gyro is to add the knock back effect that you get from explosion line to gryo’s dead/self-destructed. If the gyro trying to rez some one and it dies it will at lest push everyone back if the gyro is trying to spike but dies it at least knocks back the person who is down making it harder for them to be rez. It will make the function gyro a type of land mind that can have an effect but as a last trick it will knock ppl back.

Isn’t that what the trait Final Salvo does? I haven’t used it since it competes with Adaptive Armor. Perhaps making that baseline for the Function Gryo would be a good compromise.

Yes, it was used, that is why it was made. The overflow issue was just to get people to test it. The only reason players are not realizing that every mechanic implemented in the DBL’s was tested in EoTM is due to them not understanding how them mechanics work behind the scenes. The EoTM testing is WHY we have the DBL’s the way they are.
Not only was it used, it is STILL being used as the testing ground for what they plan on implementing in WvW.

The overflow was secondary.. Still is. They created it as a test map and are still using it as such.

So you’re saying Anet created queues on the WvW maps to trick players into playing on the new EoTM map?

That doesn’t make any sense.

EoTM has had no significant changes to it since its release so any testing and changes they’ve made have been behind the scenes.

They said it was to help players get into WvW whilst queues were bad and that they’d be testing new features (to which as far as I’m aware, none were noticeable since release) so any other theories on why they released it are just speculation – lets not get all conspiracy theorist on this.

Actually it was intended as the testing grounds for what they planned on implementing in WvW. Them forcing people into it via ques was just to get people on the maps to test for them.

Of course it does better, you have to waste a slot to use it and you pet has to be alive in order for it to help revive. Whereas the Gyro is there by default and does more than just revive, and is on a much lower cooldown, which is arguably much better.

Just to note, I don’t feel like the Function Gyro is a waste of an Elite Spec, it adds some nice additions to fights, especially in WvW and PvP.

I love being able to stomp 2 people at once, or revive 2 people at once without having to slot in Elixir R when we have so many more useful utilities.

Some of the Berzerkers F1 alt attacks are pretty useless compared to their original attacks but does that mean it’s useless as an Elite Spec? No, it has other uses and many people enjoy it.

Don’t like the Scrappers ability? Wait for the next Elite Spec to release, they’re not there to magically suit everyones needs or desires.

yes our gyro can stomp but look at other elite mechanics and tell me if any trait or utility does (almost) the same

Search and rescue used to work similarly, just without the teleport, it was just pretty useless considering you need to either waste a trait or a utility for it.

We, as a Scrapper, get a long range revive by default which also doubles as a safe stomp on enemies. I don’t see the problem here, ours does more without wasting slots and traits.

Merging is not a solution as it does not solve any problems with WvW. Even if you remove 9, 12 or 15 servers, most people will still transfer into few highest population servers and others will again be empty. The matches are still boring and zergs run around in empty maps.

Without long term solution to why people dont want to play in WvW all these merges are fails.

It’s a solution if they lock the highest population servers. No matter what, if Anet don’t lock servers you’ll have flocking to the high population servers to reap better rewards.

They need to actively fix the imbalance in overall population to avoid one or two servers having 15 people online across all maps during prime time whilst other servers have several hundred active.

We don’t have nearly enough active players to justify keeping all of the servers we have right now.

No, server mergers won’t work. If NA primetime has map queues now, how bad will they be when more people are added to the mix?

Putting servers together does little to nothing about the uneven distribution of players at various time of the day.

Does NA have queues on every server during primetime?

In the EU the further down the servers you go the less likely you’ll find queues. Hell, the server I’m on is pretty high up in EU and the queues are only ever on EB so there’s plenty of space on the other maps for players.

For server merges you’d lock the top populated servers and merge the lowest population ones with the medium population ones. Essentially, merge the lowest bronze league server with the highest population silver league server and continue on like that.

Merging servers may cause some unrest and could ruin some server communities but keeping it as wont ever change the balance issues in the game.

You forgot the screenshot of the place to put a cata that causes splash damage to any catas right behind that wall.

I guess that could work if the catas are close enough, yeah. I haven’t tried that myself though, might give it a bash next time the opportunity arrives.

That sounds like a “no, there is no counter”.

Not sure how you got that…

Can you set up siege to take out the catapult? Yes? Counter.

Whether or not the enemy will/try to stop you from countering is of no relevance, that’s the whole point of the game mode.

If the enemy couldn’t take down your ACs somehow we’d effectively have no counter to the ACs, similar to the issue we has last year when ACs hidden in the corner of a wall could kill everything regardless of its location.

How do u even fix population? Do you make bots so we can have artificial population balance?

You can nvr fix it when you have bandwagoners all over the place. I prefer to reduce the matchup tiers to 2-4 rather than having 8tiers like now.

Easy enough to fix the population imbalance, it just takes a little effort from Anet and the playerbase.

Step 1: Close WvW for one week. (If possible, leave EoTM open and leave players on their previously assigned colours)

Step 2: Lower the amount of servers since we don’t have enough active players to fill them all.

Step 3: Allow players to assign themselves to a server in segments. For example, first and last place servers in the matchup list get to choose a server on day 1, second and second-last on day 2 and so on. If a server gets say 50 players ahead of the lowest population server, it’s closed until the other servers catch up. You don’t need to choose a server on day 1, but if you don’t you may lose your chance to stay with your server/guild mates.

Step 4: Reopen WvW after that week.

How to deal with server swaps and further population balancing:

1: Pay gems to swap servers immediately, only if the server is open to transfers.
2: If you’re inactive from WvW for 1-2 weeks (modifiable) then you’re removed from the server and transferred to a dummy server. You can freely transfer from this dummy server when you want to WvW again.
3: Perhaps once a year, swap the servers around again – adapting to the shift in population during the year.

It’s not perfect, but it would certainly deal with the population issues. Though it would cause a good amount of unrest and potentially kill server communities.

More important, why would anyone like the old guard?

It’s going to take people a little while to realize you can’t use guard anywhere and expect to get good results. Use it in a 5v5 at the start of the game and your pet is clearly going to die. On the other hand, a 2v2 when the enemies come via a stealth gyro, maybe that saves your point. I can definitely see uses, although I’m not sure I’ll be taking it regularly.

Old Guard gave near perma regen and swiftness and allowed specific positioning of pets.

New Guard kills the pet quickly and once it dies or you use another shout you lose its effect. If you want a reliable damage reduction Utility then Signet of Stone outclasses it vastly. It’s like a poor imitation of the Engineers Gyro that risks losing your pet.

They were buffed, still not much of a threat but in groups and with the wrong build and/or playstyle they can be a challenge.

This same idea has been bounced around the forums here since HoT released, if you read some of the threads on the first 2 pages you’ll find the same thing suggested in regards to the Druid leaping over walls exploit.

I do agree though and they definitely have the ability to do it. For example you cannot glide into the arena in the guild halls, you hit a wall and fall outside of the barricade.

If you mean they’re being removed from the game in the next patch you might be mistaken, they’re only being removed from the PvP amulet list.

I disagree that it’s the skills fault, using skills in the air adds a lot of fun and various tactics to combat and travelling.

Having these skills in the game should have led them to design the map to prevent any exploits, especially with the new borderlands – they were released with the new specialisations so they should have known that there could have been problems like this, a proper beta would have had a better chance of showing these issues early.

In terms of your argument? Not really since the likelihood of a guild group all entirely lacking HoT is low.

Buffs in general probably do need reworked quite a bit as it has lead to a lot of builds that are about as annoying to fight as the old celele was with considerably less effort involved.

In terms of your argument? Not really since the likelihood of a guild group all entirely lacking HoT is low.

In terms in general gameplay? Yeah, if you don’t have HoT you’re at a disadvantage since you don’t have as many choices in builds that you can run.

As for why everyone is arguing over small details, you’re complaining about a scant few seconds of invulnerability which takes a fair deal of organisation to pull off well.

I can’t record videos on my PC since my graphics card is slightly busted but I can give you a little advice.

Camps are definitely harder now, Anet decided for some reason that instead of leaving camps (and towers and keeps) as a mainly PvP defensive experience, they’d buff the guards and make the PvE portion more time consuming.

Saying that, as a Warrior you have access to multiple stabilities, use them and the camps become immensely easier. Almost all of the guards spam their interrupts and stuns at the start of the fight so aggro however many you’re comfortable with, let them get close and pop stability. (Warrior heals are a bit crap at the moment but should be getting buffed tomorrow so that’ll help you survive, too.)

Power Mesmer isn’t too bad, start off with GS1 to aggro the guards then use GS4 and GS2 when they’re clumped. Don’t use shatters until the guards are nearly dead. If you see any healing you can use the daze shatter to interrupt that and then reapply your phantasms and clones. Stay at range until the guards numbers dwindle, take blink and decoy if you can and if you’re a Chronomancer the Gravity Well Elite is great for when they’re bundled up.

Edit: Forgot about Staff Ele, if you’re mostly berserker stats it’s easier. Use the Elite Glyph of Elementals and summon that first (I usually use the fire one) and command it to attack the enemies with you slightly out of their range then Meteor Shower and Lava Font them to death, fire 4 if the enemies come close and keep applying the Lava Font whilst autoattacking whichever enemy you like.

Just make a king of the hill event in open terrain with slight (and I mean slight elevation in the center with a circle/flag to camp.
Make ppk x5 for 30 minutes every 2-3 hours and let the event rotate borderlands.
This will be more wvw oriented without the gimmicks and without gathering (gathering anything over and over is the bane of all games, why add it to the group pvp area at all?)

This actually sounds great. Having a large amount of points at stake would allow skilled players to individually or as a group give their server a boost in points.

It could entice gvg’ers into a risk/reward fight every few hours where they could show off their strength and coordination whilst benefiting the servers PPT.

I’d rather they just levelled that whole area and made it a direct path to the gate of Garrison 2.0.

Guilds can fight at mid to their hearts content or servers can mount a large offensive towards that gate.

There’s no reason to have an event there at all, especially one that destroys gates and favours larger groups.

Less gimmicks, more direct paths and spaces for combat.

The old bl didn’t have any barricades and still the defender had the advantage and the reason i want to have waypoints is not for defending purposes its more that it takes to long righ now to go from the north of the map to the south so making the waypoints like they used to be will make the movment around the map more faster which can only be positive.

Defenders should always have the advantage of defense and higher travelling speed.

Attacking an enemy borderland should require effort, it should be a struggle, an actual battle to make a dent in the enemies territory.

There was nothing more fun that organising a raid on the enemy garrison from spawn with the risk of having to walk back if you died in hopes your zerg didn’t wipe entirely.

For point 1, I’d be happier if they just reverted it to the old way of getting a waypoint. Make it so that if you get a keep to fortify then you get the waypoint, adding an incentive to actively defend.

For point 2, that could make defending worse since if one enemy server takes a tower, both enemy servers can have freedom to move. Though, I would like to see them take more damage and be affected by conditions since it’s even worse roaming on a condi build.

I run full exotic carrion atm and I gotta say that it makes no sense. Too much health (26k) with no toughness. Guess I should mix in something else…

What you do get is fun things like this, soaked 23k damage in less than a second, almost killed me… I wonder if thieves have hard time in the jungle, those sharpshooters are nasty.

Yup, you need toughness to help mitigate physical damage, the only real part of PvE that’s much of an issue in is the new HoT maps and perhaps the raids (but not too much in raids as it can mess with aggro)

Carrion works alright if you’re fighting condition based enemies as toughness doesn’t affect conditions but a mix or another stat choice is usually the way to go.

For PvE it’ll be fine being a bit squishier as the enemies attacks are generally avoidable/dodge-able but PvP and WvW a little toughness and vitality goes a long way.

It is. One of the reasons I dropped Longbow for Staff is because Staff has piecing by default.

I think Longbow should get piercing by default and give the GM trait a way to get unblockable. Or have it destroy your projectiles that are reflected.

So much this, they’re making the Rifle on Warrior pierce by default (on most skills) on Tuesday so I’m hoping they’re on the ball and do the same for us.

For WvW I’d go more for Dire or Trailblazers if you can afford it as we don’t have too many traits that require precision.

For PvE I’d go for Vipers if you are focusing on dps or Trailblazers if you’re tanking, too. Or Carrion/Sinister if you don’t have HoT.

I’m not sure how you can legitimately stream PvP without even considering killing the pet in that kind of fight.

That Druid build does need toned down a bit but that was just sad to watch.

Out of curiosity, why did he report the guys name? Or was he abusing the report feature out of anger?

No offense, I usually really enjoy your videos but that Druid setup (bump into it so many times in WvW) isn’t very fun to watch.

The fights just drag on too long with little to no risk unless you’re outnumbered (which you were in the video, granted.)

I’m not sure how you can legitimately stream PvP without even considering killing the pet in that kind of fight.

That Druid build does need toned down a bit but that was just sad to watch.

Out of curiosity, why did he report the guys name? Or was he abusing the report feature out of anger?

Those builds look nice.

I tried with druid trait and without staff, but I couldn’t stay alive in wvw, even in full dire. Maybe a l2p issue since I’m not familiar with trapper runes.

I would highly recommend trying to get the hang of Sword/Dagger as your offhand as the evades you get and the ability to disengage with Sword 2 is unrivalled and Staff has no damaging conditions on any of its abilities (just a recommendation, if it works for you, go with it). Also, going Sword/Torch allows you to apply a burning aura to yourself which can stack up burning to enemies nicely.

Also, I find Druidic Clarity vastly superior to the other Traits as it clears a whopping 13 conditions and acts as a stun break when you enter Celestial Form, which can save your life with all of the condi heavy builds in WvW.

Poison Master doesn’t feel very effecting during fights, I’ve tried it a bunch but we don’t stack nearly enough poison to make it useful since poison deals very little damage at low stacks, whereas Empathic Bond can keep you alive throughout a fight, again on the condi side but if it takes 12 stacks of burning off of you periodically it’s a game changer.

For Druid (extra speed and condi removal and Grandmaster has a low cooldown Entangle if you hit a stunned/knocked down etc foe)

For normal Ranger (Tankier and more damaging pets and quickness on pet swap for easier stomps, but change it to Beastly Warden after the Tuesday patch as quickness won’t affect stomps)

I personally prefer a Survival based condi ranger but Trapper is definitely more than viable and is extremely dangerous.

Man, 8 days and the silence goes on. They must really be stumped this time.

I know (from the PvE forums during the HoT fiasco) that they don’t post unless they’re sure they have a definitive answer but 8 days seems like a long time to be indecisive.
