I’ve not read through the entire thread yet, but I wanted to stop for a minute and recognize that this was posted on the GW2 forums. I’ve been a huge criticizer of stuff not being posted here, and I did want to stop, and give credit where credit was due.

Thank you, Mr. O’Brien, for posting this here. I do truly appreciate that.

I’m gonna go back to reading everything, then reply more when I’m done. It’s a lot to read, so I’m sure it’ll be late, but wanted to get that thanks in.

I agree, it’s great that it was posted on the forums and not just reddit.

I doubt it. I did not buy that but my non HoT account cannot make use of anything but the crafting station, the merchant function of the artisan crafter is not accessible.

Guildies that did not buy heart of thorns can talk to the Guild Armorsmith and Guild Weaponsmith. I’m not sure, if Guild Merchant is in the same league but thank you for the input.

What I really want are for phantasms and minions to have coloured nameplates, which they did before the update. It gets annoying when there are multiple mesmers/necros.

Yup, don’t know who summons belong to whom.

Makes it annoying with your own summons having the same cyan colour as other players. Means you need to look twice to see you don’t have another member of your team with you. Any reason for the change?

Not that I know of, was just in an update this month. Come to think of it, this happen when they stopped guildies from seeing each other on another WvW server. As far as I remember.

Less people in the queue, so you can either wait a really really really long time. Or enter a match, many people seem to prefer entering a match instead of waiting for queue times.

I’m having the same problem and my mouse is 3 months old – happened randomly a few weeks ago, was then gone (the next day), started happening today again. And just when I got my old mouse out to test it it’s gone again.

Ah, thank you for the post. I just had the issue again, so i went to my windows desktop and was moving the selection rectangle around just fine. But in game, the right mouse button kept releasing.

How is guild harvesting tracked?

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: reapex.8546

reapex.8546

Donari’s response is pretty accurate, but I’ll try to explain a bit more.

Let’s say I belong to two guilds in game: “Faren Well” and “Quaggan’s Folly.” Both guilds have the guild workshop upgrade “Lumber Synthesizer 1”. However, Faren Well owns the Gilded Hollow and Quaggan’s Folly owns Lost Precipice.

When I travel to Faren Well and harvest from the lumber synthesizer node, the game registers that Lumber Synthesizer 1 has been harvested. When I then travel to Quaggan’s Folly in the Lost Precipice, the game sees that I’ve already harvested from Lumber Synthesizer 1 that day and the node will appear used and will not allow me to harvest from it.

Now we hop forward a few weeks and Faren Well has purchased Lumber Synthesizer 2. When I go to Faren Well and harvest the node, the game registers that Lumber Synthesizer 2 has been harvested from. Then when I next travel to Quaggan’s Folly, the game allows me to harvest from the synthesizer there because Quaggan’s Folly still owns Lumber Synthesizer 1, and sees Lumber Synthesizer 1 has not yet been harvested that day.

Each Synthesizer Node Upgrade has its own node. The location of the node does not play into the allowances; only the upgrade. You can only harvest from a specific upgrade node for the appropriate number of strikes per 24 hours. The nodes are not specific to a guild, nor a guild hall’s map.

I hope this helps clarify things!

Edit: doh! In the time it took for me to write this, the answer was confirmed through experimentation and experience. Sorry about that.

Thank you, this is really helpful

Empty maps

The megaserver system works best when people don’t taxi. The megaserver, moves people to maps to fill up. Player believes the map isn’t that full, so taxi out to another map using the LFG tool. So in my opinion, the megaserver and lfg tool aren’t broken they are just working against each other. Players are enabling this by using LFG, however I’m still a strong advocate of using a LFG tool to find maps that want to do Events Vs. Hero Points Vs Chest Farms,.

That’s a good point. Taxiing is the work around for being in an unorganized map, but people leaving those maps means the map is less likely to get organized. My luck seems to be that I miss out on taxi more often than not, so I’m often either stuck on a map that isn’t going anywhere, or I just go elsewhere.

Yup, LFG tool is a positive and a negative unfortunately when it comes to the megaserver doing its job.

Ruby division makes people hate PvP

in PvP

Posted by: reapex.8546

reapex.8546

Getting ‘stuck’ in ruby is a very important topic regarding how best league should operate. We changed matchmaking to make the ladder more prestigious and so far it has done that. Divisions are aligning with skill level much better than season 1. The product of this change is that the bulk of players who hover around the middle of the mmr curve should stay in sapphire and ruby. Win rate will level out at 50% because there are plentiful players of similar mmr in the same division.

Should average players be able to climb out of the middle divisions by grinding? This removes prestige and can make matchmaking worse within a division, but always allows a sense of progression.

Should average players stay in the middle divisions because that’s where they belong at their skill level? This retains prestige and only improving skill will allow climbing, but rewards and progression stop at some point through the season.

Is there an incentive that could be added to league games for players who have reached their appropriate division and can no longer climb?

This comment irritates me to the core.

If the team composition is not ideal for what we are up against, you expect us to class swap? change to something we may not be able to play well?

Change characters before the match begins to suite your current team. If your bad with your other characters, practice with them and get better. Or change your build, if you don’t want to do either of these then you’ll continue to have a hard time.

Uzolan Orchestra music option for Guild Hall?

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

My guild just built the Uzolan Mechanical Orchestra for our guild hall, and I was wondering if it was possible to have that music as an option from the Guild Sound Technican npc upon building it. The music is awesome, and I know several of us would like to hear it throughout the hall, not just in the close proximity to the orchestra itself. Plus it would be an added reminder of all the teamwork that went into creating that legendary decoration!

Good idea, an added perk for a stationary legendary with no footfalls xD.

The Guild Wars franchise actually has a decent history of having strong female characters in their group. Guild Wars 1 wasn’t exactly an all male cast unless you specifically chose to make it that way by not bringing any girls.

Cynn, Lidia, Jora, Gwen, and Nika all come to mind.

It’s not a surprise at all to me that Anet would continue to focus on having a strong female presence in the center of their story. And I like it that way.

Agreed, add Miku to that list lol.

IMO, things are fine the way they are. There are too many games where there are all male main characters and one female toss in to appease female players in terms of “balance.” Left 4 Dead 1 & 2, TF2, etc are great example of these games. I don’t believe there is a single female playable character in Killing Floor 1 but I could be wrong.

I know there are plenty of you out there that will say this before I even finish this question but hear me out first. When I mouse over the Abilities can they make it where there is at least a 1 to 2 second delay before it give me all the information on the ability. Now to address what you guys going to say. Why don’t you macro your keyboard or mouse make it faster. Thing is I have. It’s something to do with my hands that I cannot do it that way and mousing is actually faster for me. This is just a small grip of mine that I would like Anet to fix in their near perfect UI for this game. Thank you for hearing me out and I hope this gets to someone to read and considered

Having a 1-2 second delay on the tool tip over the skills, isn’t a bad idea at all for mouse only users.

I think all the Prophecies bosses was random (its why i hated elite capping in it :s)
also there was some group variations. even if there are no quest active in a area at all
(like 2 monks mobs or non at all)

/played to much gw1

Not all of them, only about 12 or something (rough approximate guess)

Way more then that even the bosses without elites didnt always show up (did alot of farming xD) actually i only recall Maw the Mountain Heart having a consistent spot
(and the mission only bosses but they dont really count as explorable mobs IMO)

too bad Mountain Heart Poi is gone now that was a neat thowback touch to GW1 :s

AC - Invisible Bridges Revamped.

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: reapex.8546

reapex.8546

As many know:
After fighting the Howling King or the Colossus Rumblus, in the explorable paths 1 and 3 respectively of the Ascalonian Catacombs, you can ascend some staircases or enter a pipe hidden by hanging moss.

The staircase leading to the famous “invisible bridges” which connect a few stone pillars and the pipe leading to the water underneath these bridges.

What is this post about?

I write this post because I have noticed changes having happened in this area.

  • Soon after the Beta, the staircase wasn’t broken, you could climb it with ease and find the “hidden” room.
  • Up until a few weeks ago the staircase was but a non-physical alpha-texture. You could not ascend these stairs the regular way and had to climb on top of a broken pillar, walk through some wall-textures and jump onto the remainder of the stairs to get to the hidden area.
  • Right now the stairs have been repaired. you can easily get on top of them, and new walls have been placed blocking off the old walls which you could walk through.

The room with the invisible bidges has also been changed.

  • The room is more bright.
  • There are wooden platforms underneath the pillars located at the sides of the room.

Why is this of interest?

A never used-hidden area being changed could mean future use.
In the story we’ve recently attempted to clear the ghosts out of Ascalon without succes. A continuation could be planned!

Any thoughts?

This is great news, if dungeons are being worked on “quietly.”

It measures experience within the game.

If by experience, you mean how fast you can do easy achievements or pay to get AP then sure. But then it would not be direct experience with the game.

It experience in the game on a general level as stated in previous posts.

Ah, which doesn’t mean much then since a variety of AP can obtain be without understanding the game.

It does in a broad sense. Keep in mind that this in no way is meaning skill level. Someone who has over 5K experience has likely played a decent amount of the game. Yes, someone can sit there doing easy daily achievements but it’s highly unlikely that that is all they did.

Not just daily but there are many achievements players get without even thinking and those that are paid for.

Level 51-80 ya.

Level 81-100 pure garbage.

I don’t mean the reward is garbage, but there is just no reason to do those level. The instability are frustrating and badly done, the mobs are just HP sponge making them even longer, and there is no reason to do them since you gonna get the reward from level 51-80 anyway.

I agree. Many instabilities are poorly designed, and I’ve talked with the Fractals team about that. I’ve also talked to them about adding another daily to the 76+ range to further encourage those higher levels. I can’t say what they’ll do with that information, but I would expect some more change there later in the year when we get new Fractal(s).

Here’s a request – remove the random parts of instabilities- nobody likes random thrown in their game.
It’s the opposite of skilled play. Who ever thought that enemies applying random conditions at random times could be a good thing?

Because it can be funny at times lol.

Do you think people who play high level fractals do it for them to be “funny?” – If I want funny I’ll join new players in whatever it is new players do.

Some people do, contrary to your belief people play games to have fun. Normally, having fun can be humorous. Unless your the type of person that doesn’t consider having fun to be sometimes humorous.

I couldn’t get past the Challenge of Strength in City of Hope. Tried grouping with friends and group finder, but every attempt was a wipe. On top of that, most events in the new areas ended in wiping. Has anything changed since? Better survivability builds?

You can do it with either better dps or survivability. All builds are viable for that mission, if you need help feel free to message.

Except sustain builds, as you cannot heal from any source.

Sustain builds can still do damage.

Problem with sustain builds is that they take longer to kill enemies. The way that fight is designed, you really want to kill the spawned mobs as fast as possible so you wont have to dodge those whirlpools so much. Longer it takes to fight = more whirlpools will appear = more chance some will appear under you.

If the player has the skill to avoid the whirlpools, it doesn’t matter how long the fight takes because the player has the endurance or will to continue and win. Not all fights need to be completed by racing against a self made clock. Some people are happy with longer fights, they can fully experience the event mechanics without it being cut short.
