How many fakers have you seen in raid pugs?

I was in a Sab PuG the other day organized by this druid. He had eternal. Well we get the full group and we start asking him how he wants stuff organized and he wont really tell us. So we start figuring it out on our own. He then starts telling us that we only need one person for canons. To my knowledge, you need at least 2. Unless there is some strategy I am not aware of. He insisted that it could be done with only one person.

We finally get the group fully set and ready to pull. He then said he was hung over and probably didn’t have it in him. We asked if he would just give it a couple tries since it had taken us about 30 minutes to get a mostly random PuG together. We do, he had NO idea what he is doing. Flak is everywhere on the group. We are asking him on TS to go out. He doesn’t. Next run, same thing. This guy didn’t have a clue what he was doing. He left the group after that run. It took a little bit but we ended up beating Sabetha after a couple personnel changes and about an hour. Not bad for a random PuG where 3 or 4 had never killed or only killed once.

Grats on your victory

Is toughness still useless?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

If you run toughness in raids then you are cutting down on DPS. Anet has made it ridiculously clear that the zerker power/condi metas are here to stay indefinitely.

Its too bad raids, aren’t like Dungeon Hard Mode in GW1. Maybe in Wing 2, Salvation Pass, maybe…who knows.

You can do it with either better dps or survivability. All builds are viable for that mission, if you need help feel free to message.

Except sustain builds, as you cannot heal from any source.

Sustain builds can still do damage.

I’m pretty sure it was the Glided Hallow because the Guild Hall Designer lady was talking about it. Thank you though for the Tarir reminder.

I agree, Hyper, that SW was/is a better map than the HoT ones in terms of no timer. The only change I’d make to it was to enable chest farms only during the break between iterations.

SW has a map reset timer after the Vinewrath is defeated.

So what. We were talking about timed events, not timed down time.

So after the map resets, how many people actually stay and do events?

If you want statistical data, I would ask ArenaNet and not players.

By the way, I personally doubt that many players left due to toxic comments in Queensdale or elsewhere.

The NPE initiative and Anet own messages posting in articles disagree with your statement.

It feels to me that, to be as comparatively effective as everyone else, you are forced to use the elite specializations. It has been a while now and it seems like everybody is still using them in pvp and pve. They were hyped as a different way to play but they just feel outright better to me.

Yes. Its called Pay-To-Win. You can play GW2 for free but you will be weaker compared to other players who payed for the HoT.

Rumormill, the core specs can fight against the elite specs too. Player skill can make up the difference. The game is still B2P.

Maybe for you, not for me. Our WvW guild raid uses DH, Reaper, Chrono, Druid, Scrapper and Tempest. We do use Warriors without Berserker, and no Thieves or Rev.

So, it’s 6 elite spec and 1 normal. Based on that I would say HoT is not optional, and elites are required.

It is possible you play different gamemodes where any class can be useful. You did not specify that so I gave an example about elites being superior and required for success.

You gave an example of what your guild does in order to be successful. Not all WvW Guilds need elite specializations to be superior. Your one guild does not represent all WvW guilds or players that are successful in WvW.

What's going on Anet?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: reapex.8546

reapex.8546

Years ago there was a company named Valve, and they made games. Now they just make money. Has Anet caught the same virus? Guild Wars 2 has been launched in August 2012. It has now been 3 years and a half and what have we had since then to chew on? Living Season and a small expansion which received its fair share of critics. A lot of people vent their frustration on a lot of things; PvP, WvW, Fractals and such but what troubles me most is that after all this time there are enormous regions in Tyria still blurred and inaccessible among which are the Deldrimor Front, Blazeridge Mountains, Blood Legions Homelands, Far Shiverpeaks, Woodland Cascades and so forth. Some say that it’s a lot a work but see, in the same time frame within the original game scope we got Factions, Nightfall and Eye of The North. Core was fun but now it’s getting a bit stale if you ask me. From the looks of it we’ll get to Primordus when I’ll be in a retiring home…

So, how about getting to work Anet?

There have been other priorities throughout the years that took precedence. They told us they’re working on the next expansion several times already, if you missed the message. You’re complaining as if we’re still in 2014.

I’m a little confused by all those saying that “Elite Specializations” are just additional specializations and not supposed to be better than those we already had. If they’re not supposed to be better, why are they called “Elite”?

Lead game director and CEO of ANet both said, repeatedly, many times, that the “Elite” aspect of the name is only a name and that they were to be alternative styles of play and in no way intended to be stronger than core.

Thing is, they got a little to marketing-happy trying to sell the expansion via the “elite” name and confused people who didn’t do their research on the subject, and now a ton of people are arguing that the power gains are justified by the “elite” names.

Kind of like how “elite” skills are often weaker than their non-elite utility counterparts. It’s just being used as a fancy word for exclusivity.

Agreed, some players jumped on the all powerful “elite” bandwagon early.

No, the toxic meta made people quit. Queensdale champ train, eotm karma and experience nerfs, and more. Toxic players helped kill content by Anet reducing the rewards associated with the content.

Except, there was no toxic meta. There were people making groups that they’ve posted requirements for. If you did not fill those, you should not have joined. But of course this is a dead horse that has been beaten time and time again.

Not all groups post their requirements on lfg. They analyze after joining, said group.

Any reqs what so ever for AC was not “casual” friendly. Which “casual” seems to mean any non-(level 80 zerker elitist).

Like Jockum said, SW had a way better gold/hour ratio when pugging and that’s the only thing what counts for the casual players. There is no single doubt that he is right with his statements. Pugs had worse gold income when running dungeons compared to SW.
You must not compare some daily guild runs having a better ratio because they were never involved in any toxic things that were brought up via the lfg. Speed run guilds didn’t use this feature, they had their own closed groups inside the guild or dungeon community.

Zerker groups filled way more slowly than any other “all welcome”, “everybodys run”, “come all” or for example “P1” group. That was a big mistake made by many players crying out loud: “OMFG, only zerker lfgs. Anet, stop zerker meta plox.” because they only looked for the lfgs that lasted longer. Pre-HoT you could open AC with “Px” and your group was filled within seconds while you had to wait for a so called right zerker meta composition.

And the biggest mistake was or is always the same: Many players never open an own lfg since today. But, maybe that is not a mistake, it is just stupidity.

And I have to correct another thing: AC is not made for Lvl 30/35. It is recommended to run it with these levels. There was no statement that you have the right to play with everybody also running AC just because you achieved this kind of level.
And another thing: It is pretty hard to run AC with Lvl 35 in inappropriate gear. Yeah, you can do this as a challenge but after 3 years this challenge isn’t interesting for most of the veterans, so it was better to list your wishes with lvl 80/meta/zerker/w/e and let others have their challenge. Again, this had nothing to do with toxicity.

My favorite experience is when I was playing full Zerk PS war and got kicked from a group because back then kicking was easier AND the party leader was using 3rd party software to estimate my health which was “too high for full zerk”. My server’s WvW bonus put me over her threshold pfffff.

This reason wasn’t even toxic. A kick is not to equalize with toxicity. He just didn’t want to have you in that determined group. Ok, he made a mistake, maybe. Maybe not. No toxicity. Did he insult you? If so, that is toxic.
You’ll be way too sensitive if you think that his kick was a toxic behaviour.
It’s the same thing like back in the past when I was playing on the court with some friends. Some other guys wanted to play with us but from time to time we didn’t want to play with them. This attitude didn’t make us toxic but nowadays, many peeps of the younger population feel that this is toxic or cruel. What a bullkitten! Grow some balls!
This world isn’t “Hello Kitty”.

No, the toxic meta made people quit. Queensdale champ train, eotm karma and experience nerfs, and more. Toxic players helped kill content by Anet reducing the rewards associated with the content.

Queensdale champ train had nothing to do with “zerker meta”, neither had eotm karma and the xp nerfs. Don’t mix things up.

Whilst generally on the topic of Fractals – is anyone else getting the random “Sorry, you’re dead” strike. It’s happened a couple of times where my health is fine, and then I just drop dead :/ It’s not AR – or shouldn’t be, as I’m running 137 in a 77 zone so is it a random condition from Mossman or Boom what’s doing this?

I’m not getting that to occur. You can try removing all your ascended gear and adding it back on, sounds like you’re being hit with agony. Or you could turn on your combat log for incoming damage. That will let you know what is killing you.

Before HOT came out i was always around the 850-950 on the leader board when it came to achievement points.

I wouldn’t use AP as a benchmark for the game’s popularity.

Im just asking the question. For 3 + years the same people were above me and i was friends with a few people who were above me before i made the top 1k. They would just take breaks for 2-3 months and i was ahead of them by simply doing dailies.

This is also coming from a point i havent dont the new content because it just feels very repetitive and im not sure how to get some of them. Ill show some pictures, you can agree or disagree but ive jumped up crazy high on the leaderboard by only doing dailies.

Grats for moving up higher in the leaderboards but I still wouldn’t use AP to determine activity. Not everyone likes farming AP, especially difficult ones that HoT has.

HoT wasn’t made to be easy and the final mission is no exception. I would not expect the final mission of a hard expansion to be “a little challenge”. However, that’s my perspective.

Its not about being hard or easy its about the fight being bugged

I agree, the final mission does have a variety of problems to deal with. Most of them have been solved but I believe a few bugs still remain. I normally hear complaints about the mission before the final one. Where people get stuck in the rock after the cinema for defeating Faolin. That bug was reported last year. I did dragon stand for 7 days and found my own route for getting crystalline ore. I open about 30 pods per each run. In 7 days, I managed to get 6 runes of leadership. It was a lot of work but I felt really good after earning the runes. It was easier to get than the precursor collection or making ascended armor, imo. It was tough and challenging but DragonStand is suppose to be the hardest map of HoT, so I’m fine with that.

The most challenging part of Dragonstand is taxing onto a map that is actually going to do it. It’s a 2 hour zerg where you have to hope the other 90 people aren’t idiots and can follow simple instructions.

Look at lfg about 5 mins before DS starts. Looks for Org DS Taxi. Join the map, if no commanders tag up with your mentor tag. If you don’t have a mentor tag, go earn one. Ask if there are new people then lead the random players. Lead, not yell at or insult them but lead by example. It takes time but it’s not as grueling as it initially seems, if you’re involved with the map success.

I think it’s still wise to keep the tradition of being great at dungeons alive and well. If we avoid dungeons entirely , simply because the rewards are not there anymore and Guild Wars actually fixes dungeons there will be a huge power vacuum with many people who don’t know how to run dungeons effectively. Every week I train players in dungeons just in case. It will pay off either way.

It would be nice, if the original dungeon designer came back temporarily to fix dungeons. But they left and players keep finding new ways to exploit dungeons on purpose. It became so bad that if you do not do the exploit you’re kicked from some groups. New bugs and loop holes were expose overtime. It seemed easier for Anet to support content they actually have developers for, such as fractals. Therefore the gold was move from dungeons to fractals. In otherwords, Fractals are the “new” dungeons for people to do for gold.

Level 51-80 ya.

Level 81-100 pure garbage.

I don’t mean the reward is garbage, but there is just no reason to do those level. The instability are frustrating and badly done, the mobs are just HP sponge making them even longer, and there is no reason to do them since you gonna get the reward from level 51-80 anyway.

I agree. Many instabilities are poorly designed, and I’ve talked with the Fractals team about that. I’ve also talked to them about adding another daily to the 76+ range to further encourage those higher levels. I can’t say what they’ll do with that information, but I would expect some more change there later in the year when we get new Fractal(s).

Here’s a request – remove the random parts of instabilities- nobody likes random thrown in their game.
It’s the opposite of skilled play. Who ever thought that enemies applying random conditions at random times could be a good thing?

and they are even working on a new 1? while the 1st 1 isnt ready alot of people were raging at the price of the expension and there was a really good reason to.

This might sound really…really funny, but hear me out.

There is no glider, instead the player’s character has their arms out while gliding and making a ‘whooosing’ sound.

When they hit an updraft, their arms rapidly flap up and down and they sound distressed perhaps.

When they do a speed-boost forward, they intensify their ‘whoooosish’ sound they make from their mouth.

You can be creative with the stealth dodge, but that’s all I want.

Thanks!
