I will now do something craazzy: Correcting the guys who are correcting the guys who seem to not know that it is not Jormag.
It IS a Dragon
It is NOT an ELDER dragon
It is a lieutenant of the elder dragon, Jormag
It HAS a name
It is called The Claw of Jormag
And I’m going to keep calling it Jormag in guild chat…does that grind your gears?
Last night I had a tough time targeting it because people kept running in front of the C. Yeah this needs to be fixed to have a target reticule like the dragons themselves have.
Radiation Field is awesome for my engy, another combo field I can lay out for area weakness plus it does decent damage for a good period of time on its own.
Would love to see Rocket Boots reworked…
With the Snow Leopard Form, there is a speed attack that is insanely fast and tramples your enemies…
I would love to see a variation of this for Rocket Boots, with the Rocket Kick as a Finisher. Toolbelt would be the ‘GET THE HELL OUTTA THERE!’ button on the boots, breaking Stun or CC by launching you backwards(ala Acidic Elixir Jump from Elixir Gun), but letting you land on your feet.
That’s what I thought rocket boots would be when I first started the class. Was disappointed that they’re self stun with a lackluster toolbelt skill.
I’m running 10/30/20/10/0 with P/S and I usually run with the Bomb Kit, Radiation Field and Land Mine. I got yer knockbacks right here!
Was playing around with the Flamethrower kit last night though and had fun…with the number of hits that ft gets and my high crit % the on crit debuffs just stack up.
This is all pve though, not sure that kind of build would work well at all in pvp or wvw.
Playing around with the flamethrower kit last night and #2 definitely needs some attention. It does piddly damage on the pass through shot, and the range that the explosion hits at the end is hard to determine. The blowback on #3 knocks enemies into the high damage range, but most of them are back on you fast enough that they miss the high damage. I’d say either give a short knockdown to #3 or up the damage on the pass through part of the attack
This is PvE by the way.
Also just facing it and clicking your auto attack should target it, though sometimes you’ll get a Moa off to the side.
Firearms isn’t ‘required’ for p/s or p/p, but the pre/cond bonuses are great and Coated Bullets is pretty much a game changer that turns your pistol into a mini aoe machine.
Oh yeah, I’ve gotten golds for just standing in the general area of a DE. I figure it evens out in the end though: If they get a gold medal for doing nothing, at least you’ve gotten extra xp/items/coppers from killing the DE mobs plus the gold medal rewards. If there are a few people that want to just wander around sucking up xp/karma from DE’s that other people are doing, eh, whatever.
Personally I don’t like grenades because they have such a spread that they don’t necessarily all hit your target, or at least it seems that way to me.
Underwater they rock socks though.
Personally I generally run with a bombs build and I need a lot more toughness than that to survive up close with around 17k hp…maybe you can make it work though:)
Nah, the dragon fights are fun and even if I don’t get a rare I can dump fines and masterworks into the forge and usually come up with something. Not to mention the karma, xp and world event credit for your daily, plus being able to do the 2-4 other world events for karma/xp that accompany Shatterer and Claw.
Not that I don’t think they couldn’t use some tweaking, but they’re definitely fun in general.
Are u serious? Or just sarcastic ? Or just blind? Dragon fights are boring
A hell of a lot more fun than dungeons, that’s for sure. I guess I fall into the ‘just blind’ category, but I have fun with the dragon fights and can also decent grammar at the same time:)
Turrets need more power so they’re viable in the end game. I don’t like the RNG factor on elixirs, but I seem to be managing fine without using them. Turrets are highly disappointing though…one of the reasons I wanted to play this class was to lay down rocket and rifle turrets, but the only one that’s useful is healing.
That’s why I don’t use any of the randomized elixirs, randomized buffs are a terrible mechanic.
Dungeons are only an issue because they are aggressively unfun. I’m not having many problems at all with my Engineer in open world PvE, 90 deaths in 200 hours is a better ratio than any of my friends playing other professions.
That just means you try to jump off cliffs less. :P
Haha also the -50% falling damage trait is helpful.

You should be able to click on the ‘c’ ‘Corrupted Ice Wall’ to target it.
Ash Horizon is doable solo, I can cheese it easy with my engineer as long as there’s 5ish minutes left in the quest when I get there.
I probably shouldn’t be able to do that though, honestly.
