If you zerg, you wont get 1500 survivors and the rewards for 1500 survivors are significantly better than the zerging.
Pshaw, the first time I played through it a giant zerg in an overflow got 1500+ survivors. The reward? A couple of extra bags full of garbage…yay?
This is just Queens Jubilee mk2 with worse loot.
I got 4 of them out of ~200 bags.
Still not grinding out 250 though, that’s stupid.
I came back yesterday to check out the new update since it seemed like destroying LA would make for a cool update.
Nope it’s basically the same as it has been; do the event once in an overflow, fail and then just do it again 10 minutes later. Grind up a bunch of stuff to make a glowy backpack and that’s about it. Oh but this time if you’re not close to an exit when the event fails it auto kills you…yay?
So I’d say jump back on and run the event once, it’s fun the first time but loses its luster after that.
I’d rather enjoy this zerg-fest more than any of the previous zergs, because mobs are pretty hard hitting. I see zergs get blown off to bits all the time.
Problem with this is that there’s no way to see what’s killing them at all. Suddenly a bunch of downed people in front of me with no animation to show what’s happening.
It’s like Queens Jubilee but less fun. Log in to do it once then hope they actually took something from the CDI and make the next LS worthwhile.
“Well no you should happily sink a load of time into doing the event every time to buy something that you have no idea what it is.”
-A.net!
It would be much better if you could A: res in dungeons and B: play them solo.
Dungeons are one very disappointing part of this game. Ever since they changed the way wp’s work in them I’ve given up totally as there’s not even any way to learn what must be done to avoid dying. People will say ‘learn to dodge’ but I wasn’t able to figure out how to dodge out of an entire room covered in 2 shot kill rings with only 2 dodges. Frustration does no equal fun gameplay.
On the plus side there are lots of things to do and areas to explore!I hardly ever die in dungeons but some are tricky, that is the purpose of dungeons.
The issue with most pugs nowadays is that they want perfection and dont take time to learn the tricks to people.
Yeah rote memorizing steps 1-x involving standing in corners and whatnot isn’t fun at all either:(

Honestly you’re right, half the warrior stunbreaks don’t work in the tower, that’s one of the things that made it unfun.
Though you really should upgrade your computer, XP is out of support next year. Running an unsupported OS is a great way to lose all that software you’ve got plus the contents of your bank account.
Granted it’s not as bad as in the Labyrinth, but there’s definitely lots of annoying mechanics going on in the tower too.
Dodge works 2 times…somehow even after a year of playing I always feel like I need one more dodge to make gameplay feel right…
But it’s fun loading up on all condition removal utilities and still getting rooted for 5 seconds because you’ve used them all!
And honestly half of the stuff that says it breaks stun doesn’t do squat…
As others have said it’s not a chain fear. The ability the Claw uses is a long cast fear which can fear for each tick – what’s happening is that people are using stunbreaks or condition cleanses (which removes fear) too early – before the move finishes, and getting fear reapplied.
Wait til he stops roaring before wasting your cooldowns.
No he’ll actually do a thing where he’ll do the roar 3 times in a row now. He didn’t used to do it. Not sure if it came in with the world boss revamp or not, it was some time around then.
This year’s Halloween felt anticlimactic. It wasn’t really bad, I just expected a battle between the Mad King and Bloody Prince, or new scavenger hunts, or something. I did enjoy fighting the Bloody Prince, but was literally only one minute out of a four week event.
This. I played the labyrinth for like 2 days and then had no reason whatsoever to go back. The only other indication I had that something was going on were the decorations in LA and the doors in the open world that I ignored…
We learned Tara Strong needs more voice work apparently so Scarlet will be in future Living Stories likely for a very very long time
Well there are only so many characters that can be voiced with the same baby talk voice…
I suspect the problem here is that zerker works too well in the rest of PVE. As such, it has become expensive to outfit a toon with it. This leave little room for maintaining multiple sets unless you’re a dedicated train runner.
It’s not the expense, it’s the lack of both storage space and a convenient way of armor set switching. The game itself makes keeping multiple armor sets undesirable.
This is why I spec all my characters with various types of gear. Hasn’t helped here though because there’s no gear that makes CC spam any less annoying…
7.3g is VERY generous as far as what can be made in an hour on the train. It’s more like 2-3g max generally.
Gem prices have been rising steadily at least for the year I’ve been playing. More gold is in the economy in general, meaning more people buying gems with gold and higher conversion rates. Nothing to do with the champ train, they’re inflating the economy on purpose and this is not a bad thing.
- The biggest con of all is that there is foreshadowing for things that might happen later on, but there is no story actually IN this update. This type of “story update” with no progression of the story is becoming very disheartening.
Don’t worry, they did acknowledge that the story hasn’t been an arc so much as a flat line. I’ve been told this will be fixed…after like 4 months or so because that’s their lead time.
X: Rebirth comes out in 2 days…
The % in the downloader is the number of files downloaded, not the % of the total MB downloaded. I have no idea why it works like this, almost no other downloader works like this, but that’s how it is…
As soon as you pop into the tower you are beset with a veteran.
Lucky you, the mob that was standing right in front of me when I ported in for the first time was an Elite and there was another one close by…
Good point on toxic. The removal skill is useless due to the constant application of the condition. Even if you’re in a group you get it removed a couple times and it’s reapplied right away while everyone’s waiting for the cooldown…if anyone used it anyhow, every single PC in the tower last night had the black cloud around their head. Yay for minor annoyances…

AND all the people who are decrying farming should not play this game, as it’s clearer than daylight that is what ANet is making us do--
Enough of that BS. You don’t get to blame Anet for what you freely choose to do.
You invalidate everything you have to say when you preface anything with “i was forced” when you were not. Further, you don’t speak for “us”.
You speak for yourself. Poorly.
He said it wrong, but most of the post F&F LS updates have encouraged farming.
I’ve said it in other threads: Farming, for me at least, is both fun and profitable. Please stop being angry that I’m having fun and making a bit of coin while doing it. If you make your coin running dungeons, you’re not more skillful than me, you just have a different way of having fun. If you’re running dungeons or doing the train or doing ANYTHING in game to make money that isn’t fun for, then stop doing that post haste because this is a game not a job.
The mobs are annoying and not fun to fight, that’s why. Not sure why they think CC is so awesome but it’s not fun, it’s annoying as hell.
It probably is soloable but has the same problem as the labyrinth: Highly annoying enemies. Since the rewards seem limited to a not very good looking mask and a mini I’m probably going to skip it. Leveling my new guardian alt is way more fun.
I think they’re a bit more than hallucinations…they attack real world Moas, they’re real world creatures…
Is there also soloable stuff(those instances)? Or everything group only? I wasn’t there yet. Patch nodes said something that you could do some stuff solo?
So far from reading the forums I can tell that while you need to run with the zerg because it’s impossible to do solo, you should be able to solo it in zerker gear in about 15 minutes…
So yeah lots of hyperbole hereabouts…
Honestly it was the world boss updates that’ve chipped away at the ‘res anyone whenever you can’ idea. Now with bosses like Teq, fire ele and Golem Mk 2 it’s easier to tell someone to res at a WP rather than taking the time to res them and probably get targeted or at least waste a bunch of dpsing time. The zerg on my server will almost always res a downed player.
Looks like I’ll be logging on to my tanky necro when I get home from work…
What exactly does running the champ train in Queensdale teach about your class, besides how to wp around quickly and press 1?
Its an empty argument IMO. None of the quicker ways to level teach you anything about mechanics, crafting included.
The train is a lot more fun if you press 2-0 also, plus it teaches you how to play your class…you should try it!
So instead of buffing other methods of gold acquisition, they nerfed one of the viable options.
Great, back to TP flipping cause Anet doesn’t understand how proper rewards should be rewarded.
Why should mindless farming in a zerg reward people? If you want good money do dungeons.
Because I have more fun running with the zerg in FG than I do trying to memorize the unfun dungeons. Because the game is about fun, not making good money.
How is running with a zerg fun? Im really curious
Because I’m running around shooting fireballs at monsters with a whole bunch of other people…viola, fun!
Most companies try to reward their most loyal customers.
They do, I’ve gotten 2 or 3 free gifts for buying gems so far.
This is no different than the supermarket coupon printer giving you a coupon for a product you’ve used in the past but stopped using recently.

I think they may have jumped the gun there a bit…

You have an odd idea of fun.
That’s what I think about people who have fun running dungeons.

They didn’t nerf the fun, they only nerfed the good money.
Right and I haven’t complained about the nerf at all in this thread. I just hate it when people imply that somehow people who like to run dungeons are better than people who like to run with the zerg.

True, but which regular player doesn’t visit the forums or read the patch notes – I’m certainly not that disciplined despite the fact that it would make the game more exciting.
From the amount of people asking questions in map chat around the release of every new LS installment I’d say that more people don’t read the forums/patch notes than do.
People always complain about ‘exploiting’ in dungeons, but every time you ask them to elaborate on the ‘exploits’ they’re witnessing, they usually say things like: stacking in melee and skipping mobs. Those are not exploits. They’re tactics.
No they’re not exploits, but they are boring and unfun.
I can’t speak for the Developers, but I’m confident the “champ trains” were not part of their vision on how they want Players to play their game.
If not then they need better vision. They know champs repop in a certain amount of time after being killed, they know they just gave people an actual reason to kill champs and if they didn’t put 2 and 2 together well…honestly I think they did because I like to believe the people running the game aren’t stupid.
EDIT: Honestly do you think the Developers want players to run in a big loop through Frostgorge killing all the available champs, over and over and over, for many hours a day?
I think they don’t mind too much. This was an obvious consequence of giving champions reasonable loot and it’s good for the economy because gold and crafting mats aren’t in nearly as short supply as they were a year ago. The only way to stop it is to revert champ loot to where it was before, or close to it anyhow, which will drive prices of high level mats through the roof and implode the economy. If they wanted it stopped, they would have ripped off the band aid already and done it.
Also some of us actually DO have fun running the champ train, as weird as it may sound.
Either I randomly move the sliders around or I try to go for the silliest looking character possible. Unfortunately it seems to be hard to make a very silly looking character in GW2 except for Sylvari because they’re all pretty silly looking.
Grats I guess?
The only hard thing is to make sure you dodge if you see one of the sticky bombs exploding…I’ve encountered some rubberbanding with that though. Other than that you just grab the bomb, run and hit 1 at the plant, not very hard at all.
Heck I’ve taken out the things single handedly, if it’s only you doing the event you just need to drop like 4 of them.
Yep it’s my favorite area in the game:)
Of course they’re going to say it’s amazing. They’re not going to say “Here’s our mediocre content for the month, go ahead and ‘enjoy’ it or whatever, we don’t care”
I did a preview on them last night with my fem Sylvari and oh my god are they silly looking. From tip to tip they’re about as wide as she is tall.
I’ve been doing the world bosses since before they gave decent rewards, heck I remember soloing Golem mk2 because nobody would bother with it. That was fun and so is killing it with a big group of people:)
Every stationary boss like golem mk2 is as fun to kill as killing golems in the mists. Killing them with zerg is even more fun. Don’t take it personally but zerging dummies called “world bosses” is not my cup of tea. I honestly cannot grasp what is fun in using your skills on recharge while standing in safety and not reacting to anything the boss is doing. This is almost like playing typical mmo as an dps character except you can press alt-tab.
Because it’s fun to kill a giant golem with a bunch of other people. I don’t know about playing a typical mmo, the last online game I played was a MUD.
I usually hit 2-0 also when killing a world boss, it makes for more fun gameplay and kills the boss faster. You should try it!
Hitting a dummy is similarly engaging despite the amount of keys you press. Plus, half of people are doing exactly same thing meaning your own increase of dps practically doesn’t contribute as much as you’d like. You should try to guest on empty servers with a few friends and do those bosses with 5 people tops. That’s fun, not zerging.

GW2 isn’t supposed to be about grinding or farming, so this change is a positive step to help move away from that.
Most of the living story has been about farming so I’m going to have to go ahead and disagree.
The blue and greens argument got me thinking though. What can they give you instead? If they gave you rares as often as blue and greens then rares will become basically the new blues and greens.
The only thing they can do is give us unique rewards I guess.
Actually it doesn’t, i understand your point but they don’t need to the the usual chest rewards..
Instead they could make the 3 keys we will need extremely hard to get and account bound aswell and then they can give us a cool reward on the chest
And Btw when i say make the keys extremely hard to get i don’t mean RNG, that would be the same thing as giving us blue and greens with a 0.1% chance at a cool reward, just make 3 Secondary bosses on the new dungeon super hard to kill, that ppl don’t really need to do unless they wanna spend time thinking how to kill these soo they can get the keys.I hope my idea didn’t get too messy and you guys get the point
How to Kill “hard to kill” Bosses in Open-World/Zerg Content:
1. target Boss
2. position yourself in range and press one
3. Sit back as the braindead zerging and autoattacking will do all the work for you
4. ???
5. two blues and a green
Or you can actually have fun with it and not autoattack, there are skills for the 2-0 keys you can use too ya know.
Also you get at least one yellow from every world boss once a day now, plus a good chance of getting another yellow from the big chest. It was still a fun thing to do back when you only got 2 blues and a green though, I was doing them then also:)
