What if I’m happy with my current guild I’m with? Why should I be forced to join another guild just to run 1 event in the game or why should I miss out because I’m not a part of that guild.
Because I shouldn’t have to join a guild just to complete a single event;
Why this self-restriction?
I’m reading somewhat of a false dichotomy. Being in your own guild and in TTS isn’t mutually exclusive. Guild Wars 2 has a multi-guild system. As I stated, it has no rep requirements. You can still be part of your own guild. As long as you aren’t maxing out your 5 guilds, you can be in TTS while repping your own guild. All you need to be aware is of are the times when TTS runs the raids, to rep a few seconds for a taxi, and you can go back to repping your own guild.
Why do you have to do this? Well, the things you have to do is incredibly easy and simple. Again, please don’t get the wrong idea: TTS is open to absolutely EVERYONE. The tools are out there, it doesn’t take much “extreme” commitment to use this tool. I hate for players to somehow get the idea that participating with TTS is “extreme.” It’s not.
Because joining another guild and guesting to another server is not something that should be necessary to complete an OPEN WORLD EVENT. I don’t understand why you think procedural complications are an appropriate thing to add to an open world event.
TTS is a raiding guild. Tequatl is a raiding encounter.
Join raiding guild, do raiding content – get loot.
Such a simple concept, it worked in other games too.
Or don’t, do actual fun things and also get loot. Which, by the way, is what is happening on most servers. When you take content that a large % of the player base did and change it so that a very small % of the player base does it, you just broke that content.
It all makes total sense, so why do people think otherwise?
So invading random zones and then just leaving when time runs out is a coordinated effort to…?
Question: Why do you think joining TTS is an extreme?
Because I shouldn’t have to join a guild just to complete a single event; it’s an amazingly silly idea. I understand making the event more challenging skill wise but making it procedurally challenging is dull and boring. There are actual fun things I could be doing in the time I’m guesting to another server and waiting around for the event to start. Events of this kind should be instanced and should be new, not content redone to be less fun.
But encounters like Tequatl drop ascended gear, the best items in the game.
What would you expect, these items have to be difficult to get, what would be the point otherwise?
Pretty sure every drop in the game has a chance to be ascended, and I know champ bags do. The only unique thing about the Teq ascended drops is that they’re a particularly useless stat combo.
Anet put a single hard dynamic event in the game, and everyone screams bloody murder.
No, they took a previously enjoyable event and turned it into a procedural nightmare. It requires no more skill than it did previously, just the addition of 3rd party software and a level of organization that their software is incapable of handling. If they would have put a new event in the game that was a procedural nightmare I wouldn’t care nearly as much because I could safely ignore it, but taking out something fun and making it specifically unfun is amazingly bad design philosophy.
Grind will only be for cosmetic items!
doesn’t realize that no one can see a 20 slot pail
It is sad, an event that I once had a lot of fun with sitting totally empty on most servers. A strange plan but it was so obvious that would happen I have to think this is what a.net intended. Can’t wait to see how they plan to make us desert the rest of the game world…
My idea is that they want to bring in instanced raids for all these ex-WoW players that can’t love without that , but most of the players were always against that.
So now they give us Tequatl and wait that suddenly a lot of players cry to make that an instanced raid instead of what we have now, and bring back old Teq to the Open World.
And then they can finally make instanced Raids and say : Hey we only did that because all the players wanted that.
Possibly…I just can’t see how they sat down, redesigned an encounter that was done daily intending that it wouldn’t be completed for literally weeks and then patted themselves on the back thinking it was a good idea. There’s got to be a bigger plan here and instanced raids just might be it…

What I think of most when I think of in game Scarlett:
“DIEDIEDIEDIEDIEDIEDIE HEHEHEHEHEHEHE”
and that’s absolutely horrible writing in Tara Strongs’ ‘all my voices sound like baby talk’ voice…
The champs always spawned like that.
Oh man with the move speed as slow as it is? Yeah no way I’m running all over the map looking for junk.
Costume brawl is always about being destroyed with no chance of winning for me…
You don’t “need” to do it for the meta.
Yeah actually now that I think about it I didn’t even grind out the 8 games because after 2 games I went to do something more fun.
I got a chest every time even as a villager for half the game. You need to turn in items to ghosts.
The chests are awarded for being a top scorer in a single category, whether you are a ghost or a villager. If you are a villager just keep turning in stuff. If you are a ghost use mad king a lot or get more kills or set more traps (and have them connect with villagers) than anyone.
Yeah I found a guy who was looking for stuff but none of the stuff he wanted was actually anywhere to be found. Then I hid in a corner until I got killed, then a second later the game ended.
I got my 8-game achievement and I’m never playing this mini-game again. I agree in that the competition is extremely lopsided. About three games in, I just started running immediately to the center and got ghostified. The remaining five games went much “faster”.
I didn’t have a single care for bags or rewards. I just wanted it over.
You realize that’s repeatable up to 50 times (for achievement points), right?
You only need 8 for the meta and there’s no way I’d be grinding it out 50 times just for ach points. If it was fun maybe…or maybe even if movement speed wasn’t set to ‘just shy of reverse’…
Somewhere in one of the Dev posts about communication they say it’s really hard to go through the forums and figure out the general feelings of the players. I didn’t mention it there but my first thought upon reading that was “Really? It seems I can go through the forums in 15-20 minutes and figure out what people are complaining about the most.”
Not sure what the problem is there…
I saw him on a loading screen too.
I’m hoping that there’s another part of this coming next week. Like I said in a different thread, if those two giant avatars just stand there bickering for an entire month it’ll be very disappointing.
I’m hoping for a big boss fight between their giant avatar thingies in the labyrinth. If the two of them just stand there trading the same canned barbs for a month it will be very disappointing.
Is this what people categorize as a “grind” these days?
I’d call it more ‘grind’ than ‘actual fun things to do’, certainly. Is the LS part of it a bad grind? No, but is it grind? Yes.
Sword/Mace warrior here. I know it’s not optimal damage output but I couldn’t get into how the GS worked, sword/mace is just fun:)
This Halloween living story is far from a grind. The only thing that could be considered close to a grind are the doors which can be done under an hour in the open world. If you’re doing it in the labyrinth then you’re doing it wrong (this assuming you’re trying to get them done as fast as possible).
Perhaps those complaining about grind should look at what we had to do last year.
20K mats that can only be acquired from couple of specific areas that must be done over and over in order to acquire them isn’t a grind? Then what is?
You’re going to get a response of “None of it is mandatory it’s all optional so it’s not a grind.” Problem is that if you actually WANT one of these silly items it IS a grind and if you don’t want one your main option is to go grind something else at this point…
I’m 20-40 and like to watch cartoons(notaBrony). I think grimdark storylines have their time and place and neither of those is Guild Wars 2 for the most part.
Yeah I farmed it enough to get a couple of the achievements and I haven’t touched it since. I can see they were trying to go for a Southsun/Pavilian type LS installment but it’s just way more annoying than either of those two. There’s absolutely no way I’m farming tens of thousands of any item if it’s not an item that drops everywhere AND it’ll all actually stack in my bank.
I mean a Halloween pail that isn’t even a cosmetic item for HOW many candy corns? WTF?

Also, the game directions could probably be more clear. There’s no way for the newcomers to understand the teamwork dynamic of the villagers side unless it is explicitly explained to them by other players.
Definitely, I tried it like 3 times, figured out that it was unfun and frustrating and stopped playing. It reminds of me Southsun Survival; slowly(oh god sooo slowly) meandering around, picking up things on the ground that you have no idea what to do with, dying and then hassling other players in a ghost state. SS wasn’t any fun and this isn’t either…

I love to play ghost.. never seen peasants win when i’m playing
Never seen peasants win at all, that’s why I stopped playing. As long as the ghosts aren’t afk the peasants don’t have much of a chance. Yay for lopsided mini games!
Wow, consider yourself lucky. I farmed that kitten lab all weekend and never saw a single one of those mats drop. my hand is still cramped from all of the button spamming, hours and hours… I’ve managed to put together a couple cobs but that’s it. I am seriously thinking that i am going to lose my mind, or end up with repetitive motion damage long before i am able to acquire the mats for this recipe!
Please don’t validate a.net’s idea that all we want to do is farm little stupid things all day and night.
TIA!
Most of the people that are doing it have seen and done just about everything already. If you’re new to the game you really are better off completely ignoring it or just getting in on the champ kills here and there.
I guess you get a lot more than the 0-4 or so per jp chest from doing WvW stuff?
What pieces are we talking about?
Bloodstone…well that stuff is everywhere.
Dragonite Ore You get between 4-22 from doing world bosses.
Emp Shards you get 22 from doing fractals/dungeon paths.
Shards…you get like 0-4 from open world/jp chests. Dungeons aren’t fun so I don’t do them.
Actually I DID get my first BL Key drop in months on the first day of the labyrinth. Of course the only useful thing I got out of the chest was a MF Stone and opening just one chest didn’t make a dent in the stack sitting in my bank…but hey I finally got a key yay!?
I don’t think ‘closest target’ worked right to begin with. Hitting tab would always target the mob in the middle of the screen, not the one physically closest to me…
I guess you get a lot more than the 0-4 or so per jp chest from doing WvW stuff?
Don’t keep track. I do it for fun not for the rewards. I just deposit all materials without looking usually. Only time i look is when the bank is full and i actually have to deal with it.
Well grats then you’re way of playing for fun seems to be the most efficient way of farming both bloodstone and fragments! Wow!
I guess you get a lot more than the 0-4 or so per jp chest from doing WvW stuff?
I have 3 ascended weapons and have enough materials to make another 9 from just playing. .
A bit more he said.
Oh kitten so that’s 6000 fragments…if I’m not mistaken it takes 500 per wep? I don’t think I’ve gotten that many dragonite and blodstone combined. Double grats I guess?
If you are grinding for ascended weapons then your just doing it wrong and should rethink your stragey. Like i said before: Time gated is not equal to grind.
Oh cool how do I get empyreal fragments without grinding jp’s/chests?
I get them from playing WvW. They drop from camp supervisors and other things. Also the wiki states they can be dropped from any chest. So just open a chest and you can get some.
Ah I see…thing is, I don’t do WvW, I don’t really like doing jp’s over again after I’ve done them once and I don’t run across chests frequently enough to get 500 of them in a reasonable amount of time. So I’m pretty much forced to grind jp’s/chest locations if I want an ascended weapon.
Well if you want the fragments that much just look at the wiki. It will tell you the location of all chests that can contain fragments. There is many chests not associated with Jps that can have fragments.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Empyreal_Fragment
Take a look. Dragonite Ore technically is the only one that needs to be “grinded” since it only comes from Keep lords, Castle lords, and World bosses.
Exactly, I have to go find chests and open them daily, which is not the way I generally play the game, in order to get enough mats. Dragonite comes from exactly the same amount of places that the fragments come from.
Saddly dragonite comes from less places. It may not how you play but it is good to go out and try new things or to replay areas. Such as redoing JPs and minidungeons you havnt played yet or havn’t played in months. Also could bring other people. Such as i tend to help newer people when I do JPs.
Your definition of grind is definitely different than mine, as is the way you play for fun apparently. Happily, the way you play apparently allowed you to get 1500 fragments since ascended was released(I think you said you had 3 ascended weapons), while I’ve had to grind just to get 100. Grats!

I agree. I think they should be conveyed in game somewhere, but the short stories are some of the best written content overall.

The building itself isn’t causing it, it’s the players grouped up tightly around him. His aoe triggers his life leech. I was watching it happening, each time he did it with the people grouped around him in the building he was regenning like 20% of his health. It is possible to out dps that and I’ve done it too, but it’s way easier if you keep him outside and everyone ranges.
It’s definitely part of it, I was watching it happening the other night while staying out of range of his leech aoe.
Not saying there isn’t a bug of some sort, but stacking on him inside one of the buildings is basically just giving him infinite health.
Also, as many already said, fixing bugged DE was never a priority and after 1 year is safe to say: No DE is going to be fixed, EVER.
Yeah I gave up hope that any of the events in Bloodtide would be fixed somewhere in the middle of the summer. Last time I was through there at least half of the DE’s were broken, the same DE’s broken in the same way as the first time I was there in December…
I think you’re confused; it’s personal insults and attacks they have zero tolerance for, not negative feedback. So you can say that you don’t like something and say why, you just can’t call the person who developed it a schmuck or say they should be fired.
Many of the meta events have been borked for a week or so now, at least on GoM. A few nights ago Jormag sat on the hill for hours and hours, then the next day we had the constant fear bug when trying to kill him. Golem mk2, SB, FE and kitten have all been screwed up at one point or another over the past week.
Please stop breaking old content when adding new content, tia!
Nothing should ever require more than 250. It’s all you can stack in the storage dedicated for this purpose.
Exactly this. Up the bank stack sizes before you even THINK about adding 10k requirements for mats. I’m purposely not doing anything that requires so many mats because there’s no way I’m wasting bank space or wasting time transferring mats to a mule.
Not to mention that the Labyrinth is nowhere near fun enough to keep me grinding for a month straight on all that corn.
Oh THAT’S how you use the stupid things? I don’t do any kind of PvP so I thought you just double clicked it in inventory…great instructions there…
I’ll have to give it a try tonight:)
Today’s daily definitely counted towards it. I was at 10/13, did the 2 dailies and now I"m at 12/13.
You’re absolutely right, griefers are going to love this system…
1: LS and why it doesn’t seem to be going anywhere as far as an actual plot/story.
2: Personal Story, specifically changing it so it doesn’t include a dungeon.
3: Quality of Life improvements such as larger stack sizes.
I bought the Digital Delux version almost a year ago and am under no impression that I’m owed anything but a bank golem and Wolf Elite skill thingy…oh and the stupid useless town clothes hat. That’s not how things like this work at all.
Not sure how GW2 relates in any way to language arts. If they want a well written game they should be using Fallout New Vegas or something…
