Pls Arenet Team, we need a reformulation in game.

Low lvl location fusion, like World Of Warcraft.

Where are Dragons? If you do fusion locations maps, you do have more players. Also you do can do world events.

Dungeon Finder? Do you know Arenet, your player can do dungeon?

A fun event too! There’s an interesting story around it and the kelp collection quest in the area.

Just make sure you keep those Inquest engineers away from the radiation storage units during the pre, it’s easy to fail if you have a bunch of people who don’t know that.

Yeah the items don’t reset locations daily, only on server reset from what I’ve seen. I have all of them now but I had to wait for a reset to get the final one in both Diessa and Wayfarer. After I found them I was able to guide my guildies to them until the next server reset.

Yeah and last week you had to build the snow man army and defeat the grawl shaman to get it started. It’s an unnecessarily long wait since the change, people will make up all sorts of stuff to pass the time.
I have personally killed those Svanir and grawl and still had the event start, so no, it has nothing whatsoever to do with the Frozen Maw.

why do people forget about dungeons?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: rizzo.1079

rizzo.1079

Because dungeons aren’t fun.

Are you honestly saying WoW 5-man boss mechanics were any different? They were also huge piles of HP with gimmicky attacks. Not even heroics were hard, same deal, a few new mechanics, still the same braindead encounter. Atleast in GW2 you need to be aware and dodge/block etc.

Don’t play WoW and if the dungeons in it are less fun than the ones in GW2 then I’m glad I never got into it.

rizzo.1079

That’s a good way to articulate my problem with dungeons: They’re full of HP sponges that can one shot you if you haven’t memorized their moves or run out of endurance in the middle of a AOE field. This isn’t fun, it’s lazy design.

Doesn’t really matter though because even if the bosses were fun playing open world PvE would still be more fun than dungeons.

I just bought one sight unseen on the strength of the amount of forum posting about it. I knew it had to be good. Omg! The nerdgasm was intense when my fire-themed character finally ran through his normal picks and I saw it in action. The only the reason I’m not buying it for another character is the poor guy might get deleted.

Oh, and I don’t care if its soul bound on use. All my characters have individual e-souls and they don’t need to share everything.

Lol.

Wow that looks pretty silly. I’ll keep buying the advanced ones since they’re one of the few worthwhile things you can buy with laurels.

Why is WvW the only real money sink

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: rizzo.1079

rizzo.1079

I don’t know, most I’ve ever made in a dungeon run is like 50 silver and I wouldn’t do it again because it wasn’t fun. Don’t WvW much because that’s only fun for the first few zerg/pvdoor battles and then it gets boring, so I don’t see it as a big money sink. For me leveling characters is the biggest money sink.

People do CoF speed runs in like 10 minutes and if they are willing to do it over and over you can make good money.

Yeah and people are willing to treat a game like a job, that’s their problem.

Now explain the break dancing/moonwalking spiders with sun glasses…

The typical process for creating our monsters was:

1. Come up classic platform monster mechanics.
2. Come up with classic platform/adventure creatures.
3. Pick ones that go with the environment. (Or that don’t… because that’s the old-school way.)
4. When it’s time to actually start building them we make a lot of jokes.
5. When Jeff starts building one he does whatever random thing occurs to him.
6. I tell him to put the eyes further apart.
7. He ignores me.
8. I come in in the morning and find the finished monster with a funny hat or other accessories.
9. Trevor takes the monster and makes it move in an appropriate way.
10. PROFIT!

Josh, dude, when are they going to put you in charge of the whole game?

Frozen Maw reset time?

This is exactly what I told people would happen if events were changed to have longer windows or made random.

Personally I usually just head over there if I see the timer has ~20 minutes left so I’m not sitting there for an hour or more. If it just finished, oh well I’ll try to catch it later.

Just don’t do JP’s with Charr as a general rule…if you’re having trouble use an Asura. Seriously, Charr can float in midair off the edges of platforms, their jumping is like impossible to do well.

Don’t worry, you can’t one shot the low level mobs once you’re decently geared at 80, but they pose almost 0 threat to you and you should be able to pretty much 2 or 3 shot them. I definitely feel like I’m more powerful with a well geared 80 in a lower level zone than when I’m level appropriate for that zone.

Turn quickly: Bind the rotate 180 degrees control to your left Shift. It’s unbound by default. Also I bound the ‘look behind you’ control to the mouse wheel click.

Also a multi button mouse seems to be the standard recommendation…I just flail around at my keyboard and 2 button/wheel mouse personally.

rizzo.1079

Yeah, we removed the minimap for a reason. There are several factors that make 8 and 16 bit games feel the way they do. One of them is forcing the player to really learn their environment.

Possibility of a paper map at some point? Oldschool games didn’t have minimaps generally but there was always either a map included in the box or one in Nintendo Power around the time the game was released.

Honestly I wish I’d have kept them, in good condition they’d make cool wall art:)

But if you want to have FUN and not do it as a job, just hit up meta events and salvage the resulting rares and just run around in the world. Also save up your karma and buy Orran Jewelery Boxes since karma isn’t good for much of anything else, you can turn a few gold from them. That’s what I’ve been doing and I’ve saved up about 75g in the last 2 weeks or so and I probably average 2-3 hours/day:)

I don’t find them boring at all, though I’ve stopped doing Jormag because waiting for an hour plus for him to spawn IS very boring.

What exactly do you find fun about autoattacking a giant mob for 3-30 mins?

If you stand there and autoattack, you’re doing it wrong.

It’s a giant dragon(or fire elemental, or shadow thingy or golem or whatever), it’s cool looking and you get to kill it with a whole bunch of people! If you don’t understand why that’s cool and fun, I’m guessing you’re playing the game like it’s a job and not like it’s a game. How many CoF runs you do per day?

Mature content = blood, nudity, terror, coarse language, violence, politics, economics, moral controversy and scientific material.

I’m not trying to insult people who like Disney stuff. The psychological techniques used by Disney are well known to be effective. They’re very good at what they do.

Most of what you listed for mature content is just stuff teenagers want and adults don’t care about. The hole grows ever deeper.

Game is just fine, and will be for many years.

Teenagers want economics and politics? Adults want teddy bear backpacks and ginger bread swords?

A surprising and somewhat depressingly large amount of adults do want teddy bear backpacks and gingerbread swords.

Well, we’ve got terror, violence, politics, and scientific material in GW2 already, I’d say SAB is a nice counterweight to the rest of the game:)

PS: Those things don’t make material ‘adult’, nor does being from Disney alone make the material ‘kiddie’.

As an adult over the age of 30, I really don’t look for ‘adult’ content in my video games. ‘Adult’ content is usually geared to teenagers who want to think they’re cool because the game is grimdark and has boobs. I look for a video game that’s fun to play, that’s it.

It probably has something to do with how the younger generations seek something for nothing and are too impatient to work towards something. The entitled generation. The ones that grew up with credit cards, smart phones and google.

Funny, that’s the same thing people have been saying about ‘the younger generations’ for, oh, all of recorded history. As I remember one of the earliest samples of writing is someone complaining that the whole writing thing is just making kids stupid because they don’t have to use their brains to remember everything anymore.

Overflow Servers - Auto-spawn META Events

rizzo.1079

The overflow server is a completely different box that can have people from multiple servers at once, it’s impossible to have an ‘autospawn’ on the overflow server.

Honestly I quit doing Jormag a couple weeks ago for the most part, unless he’s spawning when I"m up there getting ori. With all the other meta events that give chests there’s no way I’m sitting around for an hour and 15 minute spawn window.

If this sort of thing is what gamers want, please box it and sell it as a stand-alone, and keep this fly outta the soup. Jumping puzzles in a war-lore MMO has got to be the stupidest thing I’ve ever seen.

A few people like you have been complaining about jumping puzzles comparing them to Super Mario.

Today is April 1st,
They gave you Super Mario.

Anet epic win.

It’s incredible how much you fail to see the point. It’s not exactly about the jumping puzzles themselves but about the lackluster PvE, PvP and class balance attention for the past 7 months.

After a while you will be standing again in Lion’s Arch, wondering what to do…

If you find yourself doing that, your answer is “Play a different game because you’re burned out on GW2.”

I rarely stand in Lion’s Arch, because I have tons of things to do, but I witness many many people standing there, especially in the stairs outside of bank. Burning out in a game that’s only 7 months old, is not a good sign. I read comments on people here and in facebook being excited about Super Box, because NOW they have something to do, that is actually fun for them and repeating the request, that this new content stays permanently in the game…Not a good sign if you ask me.

If you can get people to play a game for 7 months straight you’ve made a pretty good game. Modern MMO standards of expecting people to play for years on end are ridiculous.
