Town clothes don’t have a use. Many players are rarely in town clothes.

Yeah, but making them into tonics who aren’t dyable or anything most certainly won’t change that.

And why not? If you can purchase any skin from gem store and it will be available on each character, why not the same with minipets?

Because they are not soul-bounded or account-bounded.

But why wouldn’t they? It seems so obvious that enabling town clothes in the wardrobe and selling them as usual would get them a lot more revenue than … whatever this is that they’re doing now. This will only get them lots of refund demands.

It just boggles my mind why they are doing this. I do not see a single reason for it and would love to at least get an explanation. It seems to make no sense in any possible respect.

Will Level 1-79 player Transmutation work the same way as level 80 transmutation?

If so, I thoroughly disagree that it should. I think that it should cost karma instead.

I definitely would not waste a Transmutation charge on a character that will change its appearance very soon. I wasted T-Stones before the new patch because I have so many of them.

It is a great way to encourage players to take their time instead of rushing through content.

Gumball is spot on here. This thread has been rehashed a couple dozen times now since launch and I don’t think it will ever happen. In PvE this wouldn’t be game breaking at all, but PvP/WvW are are completely different. Armor styles mean a LOT in these aspects of the game, where knowing, roughly, what an enemy is capable of at a first glance is very important aspact of the game. I don’t want to be standing in a ‘safe’ spot on my mesmer or ele, for instance, and see a few armor sets and think that I’m ok. Then, all of a sudden, that guy wearing heavy off in the distance (that I thought I would be relatively safe from w/o a lot of movement or a big animation) is actually a S/P Thief with a 1500 tele range in heavy armor. You see where I’m going with this. Although it might be ‘hip and cool’ to have over 2000 pieces of armor to mix-n-match, having some restricted looks on the classes is pretty important in this reguard. Not to mention the clipping/animation issues that others have pointed out.

If visuals are very important in PvP, then they should delete Asuras and tone down Pixelation by 90%.

What part of this suggestion is stopping you from wearing armor that is specific to your class?

I think his problem isn’t preventing him from wearing the armor, is allowing others to wear whatever they want.

What is stopping others from wearing armor that is specific only to their class?

Because that’s what make different races and professions unique, aside from the confusion that could happen in PvP. Allowing everyone to wear whatever armor-type may lead to a very huge lack in diversity between the races and profession when many players actually start a new race/profession just for the sake of the unique armor.

My opinion though.

Uh no, Uniqueness does not stop a warrior from wearing heavy armor if he chooses too.

If you want to talk about uniqueness from race and profession, They are unique because of their body type, their weapons, their skills, their mechanic, and their traits. Cultural armor can still remain unique. If that player wants to be unique, it is their job to make their own unique look.

And no, it will not stop players actually start a new race/profession just for the sake of the unique armor. If a Leather coat looks great in a charr, it might not look good in a Ele Charr with a staff. That player can create a charr engineer/mesmer so he can put a gun on it.

And then we need to burn a transmutation charge whenever we want to move from town clothes to a combat look. Not great for roleplayers.

There is no transmutation charge to change outfits or toggle it on and off.
Transmutation charges are for applying new skins to specific armor pieces, same as now.

Yes outfits are all or nothing.
Yes wearable in combat. There will be no non-combat equipment anymore, unless you count tonics.

As I have not experienced Dueling in previous games, I am having a problem understanding.

  • A duel is between one player(or team) and another aka Player vs. Player. Isn’t that what the PvP part of the game is all about?
  • Why should they bring the game type of PvP into PvE? Isn’t that what WvW is all about?

To me, PvE is about helping your fellow player not smiting her bones to ashes and dancing on her grave.

I guess I just see it as a conflict of the idealistic purpose of the individual game types.

1. So what? This game is about Elder Dragons, so why is Living Story about Scarlet?
2. Then don’t think about Dueling as a gametype. Think of It as a side feature.

Dueling should be a very low priority for few reasons :

1. This game is not balanced around 1vs1, can you immagine how many threads will open just to expres frustration and a call for balance XD ?

2. You can already duel in sPvP, but there are some cheesy builds.

3. Obsidian Sanctum is perfect for those who want to use super cheesy builds and win easily.

What do you need more ? you want to fight in PvE ? well this game is not designed for it, go play L2/DF/Ecc..

1.Many MMORPG isn’t balanced for 1v1 yet they have dueling. Many builds are self-sufficient.
1b.There are many instances that you will have to 1v1 in the real PvP. A home bunker have to protect their point from the far assaulter.

2. I can grief duels in sPvP arena.

3. I can bring a zerg to grief there too.

4. Implement dueling and the game is designed to have it as a side feature.

I completely disagree.

Personal housing and guild halls are useless. They don’t do much at all.

However instead, I propose player-made Dungeons to replace personal housings. It will be fully customizable like a personal house. You can set up a dungeon to be like your house, but the difference is that it will be a feature that other players can visit in your dungeon and it will mean something.

ANet can take ideas from MQFEL.

PvP maps are awfully slow to come by. Our last map was Skyhammer in July last year to April in next month, that is a 10 month gap. So we can assume that the next PvP map isn’t coming anytime soon.

Would you like the next map to be a new mode or another map for an existing one?

If dueling is added, which I don’t think it should be, please keep it out of PvE. I believe that overall dueling will create a lot negativity and complaints just to satisfy a minority who have viable alternatives.

They meant for town clothes to mean something at the start of this game.

But they don’t mean a kitten thing.

In fact, it would be more sensible to have characters to automatically switch to town clothes, but that’s not the case….

Before the demo version was introduced, there were a lot of people wanting town clothes. That is why they add them.

I don’t like the idea that town clothes should be forced, but I like to have incentives to using them.

I am not in favour of duelling, because:

1. The core philosophy is cooperative in PvE.
2. Costume brawl
3. Two PvP modes already exist
4. Don’t want the confusion between enemies and duellers in PvE environment.
5. Interruption of large group events.
6. Chat requests to 1v1 if I have the proposed “switch” set to off.
7. More like WoW..

That said, I think there are plenty of ways to make duelling fit within the PvP modes of the game, like daily activities. Lfg duel?

1. Dueling isn’t PvE. It is Player vs Player. PvE competition is mob tagging ownership, and shared nodes. So even if they add dueling to the PvE world, it doesn’t break their philosophy.
2. Which requires Gems to play. Not everyone has a costume to fight.

It should make Burst immune to blindness.

I think that is strong enough to be called a Grandmaster, but not overpowered enough to be a staple trait for every build out there.

Dynamic Event bonus rewards

What is Dynamic event bonus rewards?

  • Dynamic Event Bonus Rewards(DEBR) are extra rewards to the player when the player complete the dynamic event successfully with a gold reward.

How to do this:

  • You can only get the bonus reward once a week. If a player completes a dynamic event, he will have to wait another week to get the bonus rewards again. But, he can do another DE to get another bonus reward.
  • Regular events reward 2x the reward(3.74s. Total = 5.61 silver at level 80) while group events reward 3x the reward(5.61s. Total = 7.48s at level 80). These rewards add up over time. Although, Numbers can change. This isn’t here to eliminate Champ farming or Dungeon running. It is here to offer another viable rewarding endgame.

Expected result

  • Open world PvE becomes an endgame that is open to any kind of style. Alone, Roaming, Zerging.
  • It will populate Open world PvE all over the PvE world just like at launch. To maintain that, it requires constant Dynamic event creation.

Why?

  • To encourage exploring out in the PvE world without supporting farming.
  • A populated open world PvE will make newer players feel welcomed. Then they will be here to stay. More people = more money.
  • This will give ANet a big reason to expand DE. Players aren’t going out into the world because it isn’t rewarding.
  • A real and living world- Players no longer have to be spoonfed from Living story. Instead, players can experience the world themselves. ANet can remove dynamic events or add them at will. Players will go back to these events and find how much the world has change.
  • Less contested waypoints- All through player’s efforts.
  • Easy to implement- Compare to the actual creation of the PvE world, this suggestion is nothing. This suggestion will make use from the 5 years of the beautiful world without forcing a carrot in a single zone. Instead, everywhere has a carrot.
  • Will actually make use of older zones. Even if ANet adds a hundred new zones, the older zones will still have some population because it is rewarding.
  • Gets away with the Living Story grind. ArenaNet can focus on actual issues. If ANet wants to introduce new story content, they can create new zones and put quality dynamic events in it. Each zone will tell a story.

The probable downsides?

  • Economy issues, maybe.
  • Gem shop items maybe. But then, ANet can just make items that are not about Living story.

ANet doesn’t really care about dungeons at all. There is tons of request to do something about stacking. Not only they are ignored, but dungeons are ignored entirely.

Simplest answer I can give is that it just isn’t as high a priority as other things we have been working on.

Why do you feel custom arenas do not work for those that want to duel?

Whenever I feel bored with PvP, I invade custom arenas/hotjoin rooms with 2 people in it and disrupt their duel.

After that, they switch team to try to kill me. Then I go into spectator mode until they calm down and ignore my existence again so I can grief them again.

Poor design allows me to do that. You could tell me not to do that, but what is stopping hundreds of other players like me?

This…. is actually a good idea! Now all ANet would have to do is add more town clothes to the gem store, clothes that actually look halfway decent. (Always hated the default Charr clothes)

This is a step to getting to that point.

If town clothes rune, somehow does not work to achieve expected results. Then ANet don’t have to waste time to make town clothes.

include a icd into cleansing ire 40 45 seconds will fix ire so the warrior can not spam condition cleanse every 10 seconds. from that point a large part of the warrior will balance out. my opinion regarding healing sig is on a whole other thread.

I am now done with this thread regaurdless of what is said.

I would agree with this if condi are spammed every 40 second.

kinds OP, but i think the idea of a rune that increases the walking speed in town would be nice, or any thing like this, for use of mobility in-town, so no one would abuse this to move faster out side of town, remember you can swap to town clothes outside as well..

I don’t think any of these are OP for the PvE world. What matters most over in PvE is DPS.

This is mainly to incentivize wearing town clothes. Many suggestions want to force people to wear town clothing when entering town, but this suggestion make players want to wear town clothing themselves.

These town clothes runes will not work at WvW and will not affect combat.

Superior Rune of <Insert craft>

  • Increases crafting speed,
  • Chance to return a common material back
  • More exp for crafting.

Minor Rune of tourism

  • Increases speed by 20%. When swapping out of town clothes, the rune goes in a 240 second cooldown.

Minor Rune of the Miner

  • 10% chance to mine an extra ore.

Minor Rune of the Logger

  • 10% chance to cut down an extra log.

Minor Rune of the Harvester

  • 10% chance to harvest an extra herb.

Minor Rune of Community Helping

  • 100% chance to gain an extra quest trophy(For hearts and Dynamic events).

Minor Rune of the Feast

  • Summoned feast will give an extra hour of duration.

Minor Rune of the Wrench

  • Summoned Nourishments(Maintenance station) will give an extra hour of duration.

Minor Rune of the Durmand Priory

  • Grant buffs to nearby allies that increases their magic find. (Remember, the player in town clothes cannot attack anyone.)

Superior Rune of Merchanting

  • Prices decrease by 10%
  • Selling items to merchant increases price by 10%.
  • When swapping to town clothes, summon a stall.

Minor Rune of Dog

  • When swapping to town clothes, summon a dog that will follow you.

Minor Rune of the Boss

  • When swapping to town clothes, summon a bodyguard that will fight for you.

Minor Rune of Camping

  • When swapping to town clothes, drop a camp site which has a campfire, and a tent,

Custom Brawl Runes

  • Any runes that is used for costume brawl.

Why should ANet add this?

  • $$$
  • Town clothes can only be bought in the gem shop. Players will use the gem shop to look cool.
  • Town clothes will not be a wasteful feature. It can be used for useful buffs, gaining an edge in costume brawl, or for roleplaying.
  • Incentive for ANet to make more and more town clothes.

Your cash cow wasn’t bad in the first place, you just bred it wrong.

IMO, the solution for this needs to be:

  • in PvE/WvW traits can be equipped by characters that unlocked them,
  • in PvP traits can be equipped by characters that have them unlocked by at least one character of the account.

As it has been in GW1.

If rerolling is disincentivized (as is the case here), then more players will buy character slots. That’s clearly the reasoning behind this.

[PvX]Healing power and revival mechanic

I would like to see revival mechanic be changed so that for every player that res, their res heal cuts in half.

First resser- full res rate.
Second resser- half res rate.
Third resser- quarter res rate.
And so on…

To compensate for this, healing power scales will now scale very well with reviving. However, healing power is nowhere as useful in reviving fully dead enemies.

So if a player wears full cleric gear and accessories, he’ll gain a 1.75-2x the rate of a single resser.

Why?

Benefits: It will hurt stacking and zerging.

One of the main complaints in WvW is zerging. Zerging is much more safe because of reviving mechanic. It hurts small group roamers. This change will be a boon for small group roamers as reviving is no where as fast as before.

One of the main complaints in dungeons is stacking. Stacking makes the game very one-dimensional. The reason why stacking is so good is:

1. Boons
2. Efficient in killing
3. Efficient in reviving.

Stacking does not need to go away completely. But, it shouldn’t work every single encounter all the time. With a few tweaks in the dungeon mob AI and skills + adding this suggestion, groups will need to actually move around at some point or wipe.

Ranger: Strider's Defense rework

My suggestion:
Strider’s Defense: When you land a melee attack, gain 20 seconds of Aegis. 20 second CD
This nails these problems right in the face; it removes the RNG element, makes the ability more practical to use against everyone, and Aegis already has bunches of systems to support and counter it. Duration and ICD are debatable, of course; I would personally put it somewhere between 15 and 25 seconds.

This a cool idea.. you could lower the ICD though..

It’s the worst trait change on rangers for sure.

What about ‘your pet f2 blinds and cripples nearby foes’

This double dips with Intimidation Training, so I’m kind of skeptical of it.

I rather that Intimidation training is changed.

Unshakable and Defiance ~ The bane of PvE

Even if CC becomes viable, then it would probably not be effective to change a thing to the zerker meta. The game is already too easy to add another survival mechanic. Most people can already do well without the need for survival skill. Even if CC becomes necessary, The Warrior’s offhand mace is already in the zerker meta. Groups will increase the demand for warriors because they have everything.

It won’t make any other classes more viable. To fix this, they need to make every profession have a useful place in dungeons at the same time.

You want something to strive for? There is WvW. Tons of progression in it. I rather have ANet balance progression there than introduce a badly-made one in sPvP. sPvP don’t need this useless feature.

Did players stay in LoL to earn every single champion out there or did they stay because it is fun? Did the top tier sPvPer leave because lack of power progression or did they leave because of something else?

You’re words… the holes are everywhere…
So because progression isn’t the main reason so many people left, that means that it can’t be a mildly beneficial change?
So because LoL has many things going for it, progression can’t be a perc in any way?
So because one part of GW2 has progression, another part couldn’t benefit from it?
So because… no reasoning… it is useless?

LoL has horizontal progression. That must means it will be good for GW2.

Well, WoW had healers, so healers must be good for GW2.

Wait, you’re gonna say that GW2 isn’t designed to have healers. GW2 was designed to have everything unlocked from the start.

No matter what you call it, horizontal/vertical progression, if a kitten person buys this game 2 months from now, they will NOT be on the same level playing field as a veteran in pvp.

Sigh…
Being able to play literally every spec upon buying a game is the least of a new players worries… you are acting like new players aren’t already at a disadvantage, like they don’t have hundreds of animations they don’t know, all of conquest tactics along with counting dodge rolls, exc. exc…
Compared to that, I mean, unless Anet kittens it up pretty bad, this won’t noticeably unlevel their playing field any more… LoL does something similiar, Smite does something similiar, most top tier competitive games have an unlock system.
It doesn’t beat up on new players.
It gives them something to strive for.

This thread is crazy, compared to the kitten Anet has thrown into this game (condi meta, ham-bow warriors, skyhammer, exc.) this change is gold. It’s one of the few times Anet isn’t making an utterly useless feature, or one that is making the game worse… yet people are still QQ’ing for days.

We need a seperate pvp currency for unlocking this, just like in gw1. We can use gold for a lot of other things.

So, the reason why we don’t have capes is because capes don’t look good in a Charr. Okay, how can we restrict capes from Charr and everyone else gets a cape?

2. Why there was no complaining about healing skills? First of all there was a little bit of complaining, but not as vocal. The reason was that new heals were all crappy – almost no use in pvp. Also I’ve been doing nothing but pvp since launch so I had neither skill points nor gold to buy new heals – that is not an exaggeration, now I do since buying tomes is the only sink of glory I had.

The real reason why people aren’t as vocal is because unlockable in sPvP concept is new. So people been saying, “Oh, just wait a see. It might be good, trust the developers.”

Now we experienced it and proven to be a terrible concept.

Minion Mancers

How exactly does Thieves Guild help you hide in stealth besides telling the enemy where you are when they are summoned and following you till they acquire a target. They don’t even attack till you hit the enemy to tell them to do anything or the enemy starts hitting you. Their damage is terrible and Basilisk Venom is better in any situation. As I said in the previous post they are only good for venom bots if you have no allies around at the cost of venoms.

The Ice Elemental at least is a really good summon and lasts a minute and it counts as a glyph.

Auto target will change the target to the the thieves pet. It will screw players with single target projectiles or attacks that requires a target. This is why thieves have Rune of the Ogre.

Why do Thief summons have 1/3 of the health and half the damage with pathetic summon durations.

Elementalist summons are far worse than Flesh Golem because of the timer and less damage/cc

Because they are more like a bonus rather than build defining skills. There is good no way to create a build that centers around Elementalist summon or Thieves guild. Their builds are defined mainly by their utilities and weapons.

You don’t use Stealth to compliment the Thieves guild. You use theives guild to help hide you with stealth.

Turrets are worse than minions because as listed the Engineer doesn’t have much else if he uses them besides the fact that they do less damage.

Spirit weapons

Indeed, but I rather that Turrets and spirit weapons be brought up to par with MM than MM nerfed down to their level. Place Turret engineer and SW guardian in a room of other builds. They will get destroyed very easily while not doing much damage. MM is different, they can’t get destroyed as easily. MM shouldn’t be nerfed because some other AI builds aren’t good enough. Instead, the other AI builds should be brought up to MM level.

That’s the problem. PvP has a low population compared to the rest of the game. It’s an underused game mode. The old system didn’t work as well as it should have. They’re trying to entice people in other game modes to come on over to PvP and play PvP (the complain that you can do all this stuff in PvE then come to PvP and you look like a newb is an old and frequently used complaint) ontop of pure PvP players to have a more horizontal progression. This is a MMO. This is not some major esports game like dota or LoL. Anet tried to do that and it didn’t do too well, especially with how many competitive teams quit the game or never bought the game. With MMOs a major part of the endgame is progressing your playing. They needed to find some way to offer a progression system for PvPers so that they have something to work for. What better game to look for ideas than the previous game Guild Wars 1. So they took that game’s design (which was in a much better standing in the competitive universe than Gw2) made some tweaks to it so that its a bit easier to hop to other parts of the game (PvE, WvW, PvP).

If this system has the chance of making PvP much more popular it is now, then I’m all for it. MMO players LOVE progression, its a vital and required part of a successful MMO game.

Then so the problem has always been power progression? So you are saying that adding unlockables will save PvP and add an influx of players coming in and keep them in there forever? If so, where is the influx of players coming in for the to get the 25 skillpoints for the new healing skill? Did the top tier competitive teams leave because there is a lack of power progression?

No? Maybe that the problem with PvP isn’t power progression but something else.

That hp doesn’t mean anything. 10k hp is incredibly low when they don’t:
- Move out of aoe.
- Don’t evade when the master dodges.
- Doesn’t have a heal.
These are the reasons players survive damage, these HP pools are not even remotely related to a player’s HP pool in terms of tankiness.

Thieves Guild:8000 health) (105-126 DPS)
Thieves Guild:8000 health) (50% slower attack speed) (410-512 DPS)

WOW why does yours have double the damage, double the hp, lasts till death and have a shorter cooldown on death?

Turrets have high survivability.

  • They can’t be crit.
  • They have perma protection.
  • They can’t get condi damage.
  • They don’t move. So they don’t ball up for AoE. The correct way to place turrets is to spread them out.

Turrets are weak because Engineers lack utility. Necro have 3 skillbars, turret Engineer has 1.

They’re trying different ways to get the rest of the population interested in PvP and playing PvP. Merging of PvP and PvE, the new unlock system, etc; these are all indications that they want. I for one would love to see this. If more and more people play PvP, that means we may see more support/developer focus on PvP.

Yes, disadvantaging the new players and letting the powerful veteran players stomp on them is a great way to introduce new players.

Oh wait, those traits are unlockable in PvE too? Then the PvErs already progressed all the way in pvp. Time to stop PvPing.

No, half-done Progression is not the way to keep the population interested in PvP. Making the game fun is the way to keep players interested. More maps, more modes, more playstyles and builds. Most of all, more variety and depth.
