Very clever.
They can’t win either way. If they stop releasing new content to prioritize fixing the bugs, people will complain (more) that there’s nothing to do in the game. If they continue releasing new content, people will complain about old bugs that haven’t been fixed yet.
Business wise, it doesn’t make any sense to stop releasing new content. It’s shiny and exciting, it brings the money in. I know people feel that bugs aren’t being addressed, but without new content, ANet may not have the resources to devote an entire team to bug fixing, and so the situation would be worse. Personally, the only bug that’s ever hit me (the Sylvari glow bug w the makeover kit) was fixed within a couple weeks from when I was affected, so in my experience bugs do get fixed.
Pretty please? After spending some time on the forums I’ve come to recognize many of the members’ names, but custom avatars are such a quick, expressive form of visual identification. It could really be a fun way to show off our characters, especially if we could post small images in our forum signatures.
A manual poll I did some time ago. The profession totals are towards the bottom of the results: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/POLL-Race-Gender-Profession-demographics/first
Here are my Unseen Hunter screens. Yes, I stood by and let the wardens die, but at that moment it was more important to me to get some good shots. It was the first Largos I saw in game, and all I have to say is. MUST. PLAY. NOW!
My favorite images are the first and last ones. I didn’t realize how reflective the Largos wings were, as seen in the first screen. And the last screen shows the patterns on the backs of the wings very nicely. I can see a lot of potential for customization here!
Sorry about the smudges. The file paths included my full name.
+1!
I would love to see this for GW2! Such a beautiful world should be enjoyed as if you’re there.
It depends on what you consider “pretty.” My personal opinion of the most beautiful home worlds are the Sylvari, Asura and Human worlds, in that order. Sylvari because I love the natural world, and in their version of it everything is sparkly and glowing. Asura because it’s almost like having a bit of scifi in the middle of the fantasy (they’re not scifi I know, but just by appearance their world looks scifi!). And Human because, well as soon as you step into the Divinity’s Reach garden, you’ll see what I mean.
Cadeyrn is his name. Yes, the Pale Tree does play favorites. It kind of sucks to know that she loves the firstborns more than she does anyone else, including us. She won’t even call us anything but “Valiant.” (hehe) Though as far as Tiachren is concerned, I don’t think it would have been possible for the Pale Tree to comfort him much longer than she did. Short gamer attention spans. :P
What Ally is she talking about with “her ally”

I don’t know who that is that she’s talking to. Is that just player character? If so, she’s probably referring to Trahearne.
We must all keep our eyes peeled for new Largos sightings in the new patch! I know he’s not new, but I just took some screens of the Unseen Hunter. I’ll post them later. I got some shots of his back; his wings look different from what I expected. But in a good way.
My Sylvari sisters. They all have a color scheme of green-blue-brown, varying which colors are assigned to which traits. I don’t have snazzy armor to show off, so for now I’m showing off how pretty they are.
I’m on Central time. Thanks!
YAAAAAAAY!!! Thank you!!
It already exists, it’s called the transmutation stone.
Read 1st post again.
That’s what I did silver and yes you can unsoulbind stuff with transmutation stone. You make it accountbound. Isn’t that enough?
I thought transmuting anything makes it soulbound?
I like this idea though. +1
I’d expect official expansions to be paid. I think of an expansion as different from an update to the living story. An expansion would include new races, new weapons and skills, new storylines, new map areas, new aspects of game mechanics. That’s a lot of work. IMO income from the gem store is meant to cover major patch content (ie the living story). Official expansions are a bigger undertaking and I wouldn’t resent them being B2P at all.
I’m expecting to be able to fix my Sylvari’s glow, which has been broken by the bug in the Total Makeover Kit. That’s all I really care about.
I’m going to bed and hopefully when I wake up, we’ll be able to download a patch that will give us back our glow!
No. I’m too casual to pay a sub. While I do like the game enough, it would be a waste of my money.
I’d not so quickly say Cantha is out of the question because of a vague rumour supplied by a supposed anonymous artist, of all things.
It isn’t a vague rumour. Arenanet employees have commented quite a few times in that post confirming it. The REASON it happened is a rumour, but the point is it did happen and as of right now is valid. Hopefully when Anet brings up the idea/possibility of Cantha again whatever stopped it before no longer matters.
Really? Ohhh… That particular thread was TLDR… I kind of just read the last posts of people saying it was a rumor and they didn’t believe it, but I didn’t realize ANet had actually said something in the thread confirming it.
I’d make the Charr look more like the Na’vi, or the Ferres from the unreleased ArcheAge.
I don’t expect anyone to agree with me. But IMO felines are the most beautiful creatures on this planet. The fact that GW2’s take on anthro felines is so far off the mark from my idea of feline beauty (especially for the females) made me very sad indeed.
Yes, I saw it some months back, before I started to play. I thought it was pretty funny and informative, though I was pretty sold on GW2 already.
Probably others are in the same situation as you. I would venture to say that none of them would blame ANet for it, unlike you.
…
I don’t know what to tell you, OP. You logging on at the end of the month and not being able to complete the monthly is no one’s problem but yours.
As much as I love the bows, upon first seeing them my first thought was, “Do the devs think that guys don’t like bows?” They ARE beautiful, and I will get them. But I am a girl.
And here’s the whole thread: http://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/182pc8/what_the_largos_look_like_under_their_masks/
Has anyone seen this? Someone on Reddit partially clipped through a female Largos and was able to capture an image of her face from the inside-out.
http://i.imgur.com/vwCrObL.jpg
It looks a little too humanoid. Maybe the designers just stuck a human face on her for now because the Largos faces aren’t meant to be seen yet? Or maybe it’s just too difficult to tell what she really looks like because we’re looking at her from the inside.
While I don’t think Monks in this form or the other form will make it into the game, I will say that I really hope that Asian weapons come out with a Cantha expansion! I want a katana.
What’s wrong with being a hippie? More violets, less violence!
So what DO people normally do with soul bound items they don’t want anymore? Just destroy them?
Really? The forum kittened “a w kward?”
I’m sorry this happened to you, people like that make the social aspects of this game so unappealing. Perhaps in the future make sure to add people you group with to your friends list so that they are always a short click away from the report button. It’s kind okittenward to add someone if you don’t really know them, but it’s the only way to keep them from “running.”
There is yet another thread just now posted by a user who got abusively kicked from their dungeon group. Theirs isn’t an isolated incident. Just the idea that I could put all my work into a dungeon and be unceremoniously kicked close to the end… that in itself is enough to make me prefer playing alone.
I’m not antisocial by default… here I am on the forums, aren’t I? And I enjoy the presence of other people in the game. I just feel somewhat leery grouping with strangers, and I think there is good reason to be. Judging by this thread I’m not the only one who feels this way.
+1!
Cultural or Legendary themed instruments would be even better! What would be more perfect than a Sylvari playing lyre that looks something like the kudzu bow?
I have 4. Ranger, Thief, Elementalist, Mesmer. I’m leveling them all simultaneously, but so far I’d say the Ranger requires the least effort on my part, Mesmer the most effort.
+1
Not as many juicy details as I would have liked to hear on certain things, but still good to hear Colin talk about future plans and the issues they’ve been working on.
I think this in-game guild recruitment would be a good idea, just not in chat. I think there should be a tab on the guild menu where you can post adverts for recruiting new guild members, or to join a guild. That way one always knows where to look, when they want to join a guild, and chat isn’t being spammed.
Sorry just had to.
Bwahaha! The title isn’t displayed to begin with, and watching it I thought, “why is he so freaking serious??”
Then it ended and I saw the title. “The most serious Yugioh player in the world.” Yup.
One more day!! crossing fingers
I agree, I won’t be convinced of the playability of centaurs until I see them in game. Probably even then I’d still think that it was a mistake to add them. If ANet wants to spend the time, effort and money to overcome the design and lore hurdles of making centaurs a playable race, well then they’ll do it. But why would they? They’ve already laid and are still laying the groundwork for other playable races that make more sense to add. Don’t you think we would have seen some kind of hint in the storyline by now if centaurs were going to be added? Same goes for the krait? They’ve been given nada.
Whereas the devs have given the Largos plenty of groundwork. Most of the arguments I’ve heard against them have been tantamount to “I don’t like them” or “they don’t fit in GW2.” Well, liking them is a matter of opinion – one that doesn’t matter much, because plenty of people do like them. And as for Largos not fitting in, ask people why and you get …silence… Either that or they answer with “this opinion and that opinion and they’re ugly.” Which really is just “I don’t like them” disguised as a poorly attempted logical argument.
They start talking about Largos at about 23:00. They all agree that Largos will be playable, and they claim that Anet stated Mursaat will make a return in GW2.
http://www.guildwarsinsider.com/all-roads-lead-to-orr-12-largos/
Thanks for that link! I only listened to the Largos portion, they had some interesting observations and speculations. I’m happy to hear too that Mursaat still have a further role to play in the story!
Ranger. I’d get my Katniss on with my big cat.
Again, I didn’t finish GW1… so are you saying there was actually a part of the game where you were forced to play with “only bots” and teaming up with humans wasn’t an option? Somehow I doubt that.
Were these arbitrarily chosen by the devs? Did they categorize them according to which colors they personally thought were prettier? Or are there special properties in the rarer dyes that I don’t know about?
I’ve unlocked one dye and decided not to unlock any others after I realized that it was character bound. So as a result I’m pretty lost about the dye system. Do you guys use your dyes or save them for the Mystic Forge?
How would all the skills be accessible using a console controller? I’ve seen people play console MMO’s using controllers on YouTube, so I’m not saying it can’t be done. I just don’t know how.
I’m planning to take advantage of the free trial. But because I’ll need a 2nd monitor, GPU, keyboard and mouse to even try it, I’d prefer to know a little more about this setup beforehand.
While it makes sense to assume that FPS would be cut in half using this software, I don’t think that’s what happens. In this YouTube vid: http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=exK5DHAF0ow a guy demos SoftXpand with WoW. In a highly populated area, both his workstations were getting ~45 FPS, while in less populated areas he said (didn’t show) he was getting ~60 FPS. He didn’t mention how many FPS he was getting before using the SoftXpand setup, and I’m aware that WoW is going to be less graphics intensive than GW2. But I doubt that this software was cutting his FPS in half, unless he really was getting ~90 FPS in busy areas and ~120 FPS in normal areas using a regular setup. I think giving each monitor its own GPU allows for FPS to stay within a normal range.

I’ve thought the same thing. But maybe they’re trying to preserve line of sight a little bit. Lots and lots of trees and vegetation can easily get people lost, or make it difficult to fight monsters.
I’m more than twice the age of a 12 year year old, that must be why I think all those things are super DUPER cool!! :P Well, except the big breasts. I could take or leave those.
Bump. No one has used this w/ GW2?
Hardcore players are actually less of a problem then casual players. The casual players I know don’t care about content because they aren’t around long enough to see it all. Hardcore players want content because the current game content is actually incredibly lacking when you look at it.
Really? While I don’t agree that hardcore players are necessarily a “problem,” exactly how are you making your point that casual players are a problem? So they may not stick around to see all the content, but how is that harming the game, exactly? Whatever your answer to that may be, I doubt the devs would agree with you. A casual player’s money is as good as any hardcore player’s money. Certain items in the gem store are even geared towards people with less time to play.
As far as hardcore players being a game’s worst enemy… well even if that was true, I would say that hardcore players’ obsessive passion is the game’s best friend. Their hours logged and their tendency to be vocal about perceived lack of game content really is an indication of how much they like the game. These players’ presence makes the world feel populated to other players, their participation makes the economy go round… I don’t think a game could survive without hardcore players. Yes they do complain and expect a lot, but that’s just the nature of the machine.
I did a poll on this some time ago, posted results here: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/POLL-Race-Gender-Profession-demographics/first
After Engineer, the least played class out of the sampling I took (~300 characters) was Necromancer, followed by Thief.
