Ah yes, I have confirmed that. However, Runes of Lyssa says it will give all boons for 5 secs and it doesn’t seem be affected by any boon duration booster, it always last 5 secs.

Hmm I see that. Anyhow, I don’t see any use for that and just make things more confused and lead people to error. The player should be warned about that when that option comes up (which, IMO, such option shouldn’t exist. Why would people want to change the order all suddenly?).

And if I’m not wrong, I did that skritt part with a friend (it was my story though) and I can’t recall them saying something about that.

And here we go again.. during Claw of Jormag today I had to cycle mobs by using Tab a few times and in one of these moments guess who auto-target picked up first? Yes, you got it. Our beloved White Moa that was even hidden by a small slope >.< Not to mention Behe, I kept cycling Tab in order to select it as I couldn’t find a clickable spot to select it >.<

That’s really weird, I have done story with a friend, I did their and they did mine and it never go mixed up.

If you play co-op and choose to accept story progress at the end of the story step, it will put you on the same storyline as the other player, even if it doesn’t match your own.

Sounds like a bug to me and, honestly, I don’t see any reason for this behavior. It doesn’t make sense to be put in the same story line as someone else. It just make things confused and odd. If the objective is to inform you about the progression of the people you helped, it’s already done by the HUD when you enter someone’s else instance. No use to have theirs mixed with yours.

What are those things?

Yes, it’s not a back item. It’s like that Majory’s Journal from the LS previous to Queen’s Jubilee I think.

Also, I feel silly now lol. I did it as that saying, “putting the cart ahead the oxes” lol. I wanted to figure out what those weird uppercase characters were even before getting the all pieces. I just have gotten them all and now I see it’s very obvious lol. Thanks Donari for trying to not spoil it, hehe. Just as I said in the previous post, I just couldn’t recall that name when I first read the pieces :P

Yes, just saying “there is a bug” isn’t enough to get devs and everyone else attention to it. The title is too vague and no description was given. Try to give more details about it like what happens and when it happens. That way others would be able to contribute and more chances to get a dev to look into it.

Hmm, could you give more details about the issue? Seeing your screenshot wasn’t enough for me to understand what’s going on. I don’t know that map so I certainly wouldn’t understand anyhow, but I think it’s lacking some detail and more details could be useful to help with the issue.

Hehe, np. I still need to look into that place a bit more and I still need to get the last piece too. So yes, I haven’t looked deeper in this puzzle yet anyhow.


And yes, I had realized a frame with Scarlet’s mentor in a wall there. I just couldn’t recall his name at the moment that I realized the odd uppercase letters in the journal.

Shadow, I think you’re slightly off in your spoiler. The final part is actually in the 5th piece. There is no console message, though there are very interesting things to see via the console.

Hmm ok. As I said I haven’t gotten the 5th piece yet, I couldn’t assemble the last cypher yet. What I posted there was what I was told by a guildie that told me they didn’t read the pieces but only the assembled journal, and they said it came from the text on the console. I’ll update it so soon I get the last piece.

I can’t even agree more with this. I see what you mean as I haven’t even explored all of this myself yet (dungeons, PvP, jumping puzzles... not tried yet). Whining and being rude has no place on anywhere. Expecting ppl to do exactly like you do or know everything beforehand is non-sense.
I agree there are those that fails on purpose and spoil other’s fun, but yelling at others and whining and being rude just makes you look stupid and passes your own rage to everyone else, that also is frustrated by a fail.
Games are about having fun (with some frustrations at times, of course, but that makes it more exciting to try again [I can’t count how many times I came back after being killed just to finish off that d**n mob :P *glances at some bandits at Birsband*]) and rudeness has no place in it.
Are you frustrated by a fail? Well, it means something went wrong (either your part or not) and makes it more exciting to try again and gives more motivation to get it done.
But whining and being attacked with rudeness just spoil it and makes you want to hit Alt+F4 and let it be. I can’t even count how many times I have reported ppl for rude behavior just because it drives me nuts to see such sh**y behavior.

Oh yes, I have realized that too. I was even about to create a thread about it… I have gotten 4 parts of the journal so far and ALL them have a “supposed” typo. All them have a uppercase letter in an odd position and I have been wondering if it was a typo or not.

Occurring in one sentence is a typo, 2 sentences is a coincidence or lack of attention.. Occurring on 4 sentences is really odd. Also, a friend of mine that has unlocked console said there is a typo like that in the message from the console too.

Here is how it appears:


  • 1st fragment: “… It’s getting wOrse. …”
  • 2nd fragment: “… The mender was unable to help Me, …”
  • 3rd fragment: “…-run into sea of dArkness. …”
  • 4th fragment: “…*too scareD to even close my eyes…”
  • 5th fragment: “…anD…”.

EDIT: As said by Donari and I confirmed myself later, no message from console, it was from the 5th piece.

I haven’t heard that audio myself yet (since I have one journal left to get before I can unlock console) but I believe it’s just noises. Even RL at times I think I hear voices mixed with a noise generated by fans, motors and things like that. At times it’s just your brain messing the sounds pattern (e.g. fan makes regular sound patterns that could be messed if a minor different sound might interfere, giving illusion of voices). At times I have realized it’s just your brain trying to find a known sound in middle of different noises. If you think your hear voices in a noise, you surely will begin to hear things like voices in it.

Yeah, it would be interesting to keep it for a few time yes, like a historic place maybe. And yes, they usually remove some good content and keep useless… as you said, offshoots are useless now as even the spores are only used in recipes now, no more vendor to get the Tri-key neither the chest itself. And, I have a loot of Ugly Wintersday gift and no vendor to exchange them…

Whirlwind attack will completely fail to execute if you have your camera rotated upward and your cursor on the top half of the screen, even when using the ‘3’ key twice.

Hmm sorry but… are you really sure it doesn’t require a target? You said you used ‘3’ key and from what I see on that screenshoot the 3rd skill DO require a target (note the target symbol on the number 3). That way, this is the reason for the ‘Out of range’ message as your cursor is ‘hovering’ far away on the landscape. With the cam still angled that way, move your cursor over your char’s feet and try to use it again and see if it works.

Ok wait, I must be doing some mistake here… what skill is this thread about? As I posted above, recently I have tested Phantasmal Warden on a centaur’s “catapult-like” thing on Kessex Hills and it did as expected, same happened with other mobs. It executed its move (whirlwind attack with 2 axes) and stopped 5 secs later, but it restarted so soon I shot the mob too. However, Phantasmal Warlock did nothing while the target didn’t move, and even so it stopped shooting a few times. Phantasmal Disenchanter worked fine and did as expected.

@1: That’s actually how it’s working atm. you can cycle through enemys with tab. When you don’t have an enemy selected, hitting tab targets the nearest strongest one. The random deselecting might be due to having enabled “right-click to attack/interact” (with it on it deselects the target when moving the camera with right click).

No, that is how it is supposed to work. It doesn’t. They have listed targeting fixes in multiple patches and, so far, none of them have actually fixed anything. I’ve had instances were tab targets nothing, despite enemies being all around and where the first target it picks is a neutral NPC 10 feet away when there is a champ standing in front of me. Trust me, it’s still broken.

Well, a good news (not sure if it was a fix or what else though). Recently I did an event at Kessex Hills where it was required to destroy those centaur’s catapult-like thing (I can’t recall its name, Tru.. something :P) and for some reason I spawned Phanstamal Warden while that static thing was targeted and you know what? Yes, Phantasmal Warden began to hit it for a few secs and so soon it spawned.

I see how it could be a bug but, taking it at logical viewpoint, it happens because your current gear is taken off and sent to inventory and then the new one is taken from inventory and wore (you can see it’s true as the item taken off pops up at the right side, as if a new item was acquired. You can even see it in chat too and it even says something like “You received a Sword.”). That’s why you can’t do that, because the current one can’t be sent to inventory. I believe that behind the scenes this is the reason for this behavior. But yes, I also don’t know if it’s intended or a bug.

From what I have seen only items on Starter or other common bags are affected by Compact. Equipment/Crafting/Invisible bags aren’t affected. I have always seen it as a feature but it would be nice to have Compact for them too, but not to send the items on it to other bags (that would spoil the purpose of these segregated bags) but clustering items on its first slots, as it does on normal bags.

From what I know, any elements used in quests or events are used to respawn after a time. Posters, objects, signs, collectible stuffs, destroyable stuffs.. all them comes back after a time after you completed it. Try that, go to some place where the heart requires you to collect things or destroy items and you have already done that heart, you will see that all the items required by the heart are back. I can’t even count how many times I could destroy heart things even after have done that heart.

I just recalled one on top of my mind that you could use to test this. Go to Grawlenfjord at Wayfarer Foothills, there you will find the heart “Disrupt Grawl worship”. This heart requires “erasing cave paintings, destroying effigies, and smashing sacrificial offerings”. I have done this heart ages ago but every time I go there I still see effigies and paintings on the walls.

Yes, some time ago I realized that. I just realized someone had added me as friend when I occasionally checked the Followers tab. Not notifications, not questions or anything was given. They could have me in their list and I don’t having them in mine for ages if I didn’t check that tab. I’m not sure if it’s a bug or not and I thought it was a normal behavior at first glance (although odd).

As a suggestion for your bug report, you could edit title and put a better text in there. Try to use something more descriptive like “No notices when someone adds you”. That way there may be more changes to get it looked by a dev. You can do that by clicking the link just below the title.

Based on what I saw in the vid I don’t think it would be a bug exactly. It’s just your cam switching back and forth as you sink and float back.
When you sink your cam switches to a close up on your char, when on surface it goes a bit away from your char. The jump you did made your char to be completely underwater for a fraction of secs, what then triggered underwater cam, but then your char floated up and then it triggered the surface cam. After that you jumped again and then it happened again. That’s it. If you could slow down that vid you could realize that’s exactly what’s happening there. Your cam is just fighting to find a better angle based on your char’s position.

Talking about boon duration… I see that one of the points in this build is increasing boon duration (otherwise would be useless to give only 1 sec of boon to allies per example) and I have made a quick test recently. My hero panel says I have 56% of boon duration, about 4% comes from Doubloons, 20% from Chocolate Omnoberry Cream and the rest I can’t recall where. I made a quick test by trigger a elite skill as my Runes of Lyssa would give me all boons. The Rune says the boon would last 5 sec and it was exactly what happened, they lasted 5 secs or less. I also tried to cast Chaos Storm on myself as it could give me some boons too, the boons lasted exactly as the skill’s hint stated. Also, I’m using Signet of Inspiration and I noted that each random boon given from it has lasted exactly the time stated in the skill’s hint. The question is: if a boon should last 5 secs, 50% of it would be like plus 2.5 secs that gives me 7.5 secs.. but I don’t see it happening. I wonder where that increase is going to. I can’t realize it having these 56% more of boon duration.

From what I see the target crosshair isn’t the only misplaced thing, the green arrow icon used to indicate downscaled also is misplaced. Also, you don’t even need to cross your eyes to see it. Compare both images by taking as base the nameplate and see the location of the crosshair related to it in both images. Clearly you can see they don’t match.

A workaround for this is spawning Warden and then using Temporal Curtain and its chain to make mobs to move, then the Warden will “realize” they moved and will act. But that’s like it, a workaround, and won’t always work :S

Well, thanks for this thread as I was wondering what to do with those items and now I see they are useless. I don’t have a huge amount (around 90 to 100 of each), but I was saving them to the most I could so I would grab more until the last min.

I was expecting the vendor would be available for a while too. Now I have enough items to get a Giant Wintersady Gift or even that Snowflake but I’m unable to get it now. Also, even though they announced a release for 21st, what if you got some of these items the day before? Simply discard them? If there’s no vendor for trading them, what’s the use for selling/buying them from TP? Saving them to “who knows if there would be” next Wintersday?

Not fair taking off the vendor all suddenly. I remember I could still even trade those scraps from Baazar of Four Winds and “Election” even days after a new content came out.

I have been getting this exactly was the OP described:

the majority of the time it sounds a lot like a book or other hard object dropping onto a hard floor in a very large room (slight echo).

just random sounds like a metallic “clunk” or a bubbly sound, things like that, with a weird echo, extremely random but at least every 10 minutes or so. Also, the worst part is that this sound can be heard even when gw2 is minimized

I have been hearing it since I started playing the game (about 10 months ago) and I have noted it usually happens some time after some loud sounds is played (like explosions, sound effect from skills like Chaos Storm, after battles [that’s filled with loud sounds of course], etc). I’m thinking about to let it record during a game session and see if I can capture it. I believe I could get it as it’s not so rare to happen. Luckily I don’t use my headset with a loud volume so it doesn’t scares me too much, but it’s very annoying indeed.

Trying to target Shadow Behemoth, pressing Tab cycles through… other players. Green after green after green… can’t target SB at all

You mentioned using Tab cycles through other players instead mobs, are you sure that Tab is key-binded to Near (or Nearest) Enemy and not Near Allies? I just wonder if it’s the case, but it’s binded to Enemy indeed then just ignore what I’m saying.

But yes, I know that feeling. I had a hard time trying to target a huge dragon in front me during personal story and autotarget insisted to target a Rotmouth a few steps far at my left.

We’ve had threads about the bad targeting at the top of the bugs forum since launch, and not a single dev has bothered to post in any of them. I’m 100% sure they are aware of the issue and do not need more examples from us. But it is a good idea I think, to keep reminding them that this is an issue that won’t just go away by itself.

Yes, but even if they don’t seem to care about that it’s good to keep reporting and informing about it. So they can see how bad it is and how unhappy the community is about that. Also it’s good to show other and new players why they always have been bringing “Moas” into their fights with champs, lol.

Without proper targeting, a fundamental part of the core combat system is broken. Translated: This means that poor targeting is responsible for more player deaths than anything else in the game.

I know right! I can’t even count how many times I got downed (at least) because I got overwhelmed by bringing a few ambient mobs while fighting to 2 or 3 mobs (that was common to happen during offshoots >.<).
