You must not have played gw1 where it took the first player 5 years to get dragon. And that wasn’t even the most competitive game mode.

Were you not around when that playerbase disappeared? There was nothing to work towards in gw1 pvp BECAUSE it took so long to get max rank. Yes there was hardcore pvpers who did it 24/7, but it died because there was no “new blood” because it felt like you weren’t getting anything out of it. Playing anything just for “fun” only lasts a finite amount of time(just look at the pvp in gw2…).

The “hardcore” pvpers have been crying about there not being enough people playing pvp and that there needed to be something to draw more people in. They finally make it possible for people that also enjoy wvw and pve to attain something in pvp and they cry about it making “everything they’ve done in pvp worthless”. I just don’t know….

I am one of guys that have 2 of same type of legendaries(2 inci and 2 juggers:farmed and crafted for all because i like its SKINS) and i know we are minority but we are stilll players in gw2 who put a lot a lot of time in it, so we cant just be put away cause we are minority.For first i like wardrobe idea and legendaries being acc bound but it just isnt fair that ppl who wasted around 2500 of their gold for 2nd legendary of same type that they already have will be at same position like ones who made it only once.I am also against statement that there will be much more ppl with legendaries cause it wont it would be same ppl that have legendaries now but on their alts.To be honest legendaries are becoming more and more common by every month passing.I am up for compromise cause i cant expect that the new feature will change only cause of few of us but lets start with few suggestions we gave.Far best change for us would be what was said earlier for many times that if you want dual legendaries you need to have 2 of that kind for dual it but you can have access to that skin accros all your character,but each character can wield it at the same time depending how much original ones you have.Ok ppl dont accept that and say we are selfish so lets move on.We said keep special effects only on real legendaries but for copies remove it.Again we were proclamied being selfish.So only argument against us you give again and again is being selfish and that we dont lose anything cause we keep stat changing option.Come on you cant really believe that stat change is 2500 gold worth.To make ascended weapon you need around 20 gold(it is that amount cause i made several ascended too) or 2 hours of running on maps and gather stuff you need.So there is 20 different stats combination in gw and that makes you to make dual of same stats 800 gold in the end or 80 hours gathering.So lets look at this numbers and numbers legendary is worth:in gold legendary worths 2500 gold and i wont even try to calculate how many hours you need for legendary but i can say for sure it is far more than this 80 hours for ascended.And keep in mind if ppl really change stats they change it between 3-5 stat combination max so that would cost them120 -200 gold.So if it needs to be how majority wants:pls let us at least un-bind all legendaries or high valued exotics like foefire,mjolnir,volcanus etc. and let owner choose if he wants to keep them or sell them and get his money back and invest it in something else.So pls dont spit fire between and lets find together compromise that suits both sides.If something isnt understandable i apologise because english is not my mother language.:)

Well I give up, I know now I won’t be able to change anyones mind, because ANYONE who made 2 Juggernauts has no common sense.

They aren’t useless, you still got the stats and the capability to change. It is not about yours becoming useless but the fact that you don’t want others to get them easier.

This guy gets it. No one is LOSING ANYTHING with these changes, you feel like you are losing something because you think having 2 of the same legendary makes you look “elite” or “special”. It’s also selfishness, because instead of letting people have a new and easier way to get something that was tedious and annoying, you want to keep it the same because you had to go through that.

And if someone buys 2 Incinerators, should s/he be able to dual-wield them? If s/he builds one Incinerator and buys the other, is it ok then?

The argument you present hinges on the premise that having a Legendary is an achievement that you earn, and that those who have not earned it should not have access to the same look. However, since Legendaries are purchasable on the TP by anyone who pays enough, that premise doesn’t stand.

Since ANet has always allowed the look of a Legendary to be achieved by someone who hasn’t built it, why would they prevent someone who has 1 Legendary the appearance of having 2?

You aren’t going to get through to these people, all they are mad about is people are going to be able to be as “special” as them even if they haven’t put in the work to make a second.

Clearly this is invalid. If it was so bad and insignificent, Anet would have replied 200 replies ago. They realize that there is this issue, and they are trying to make everyone happy. Please stop being disrespectful and just wait for an official update(if any) and not criticize this niche gamer society. We are addressing an issue that seems illogical, we don’t need your comments to flood this thread.

So any opposition to a bad idea is being disrespectful and shouldn’t be in a thread that was changed to being about ALL LEGENDARIES IN THE WARDROBE. This thread is no longer just about people with 2 of the same legendaries.

Edit: I could also use your exact words against you, maybe if it wasn’t insignificant it wouldn’t have been merged into a thread about all legendaries in the wardrobe and would have stayed just about people with 2 of the same.

It’s still a loss of equity…that equity being the effort to make that second one, when now they could have had a second legendary skin for that same effort. And anyone who knows me from the forums will know that I will always fight ANET when they make a decision that eliminates someones equity in the game.

YOU MADE A DECISION, learn to live with it. I made both Greatswords, to turn into Eternity before knowing about this, instead of making just one of them and Frostfang like I once thought I would. I would call it opportunity cost(even though it really isn’t, but it makes my point) that you were okay with when you made it.

I think it is more the thought process of: I put all this work into making two of the same legendary for the look, but if I had had the ability to just make one for the look I would have made two different legendaries for 2x the looks instead of 1. So they feel that the effort put into their second legendary is wasted.

I can see being mad about it if they have just recently gotten the 2nd one(like within the last couple weeks), but if they have been able to dual wield them for any length of time, then I say they got their enjoyments worth of it.

Edit: This is my last post in here because I’m just making myself mad, but I REALLY hope they don’t listen to this. The ONLY thing proposed in here that wouldn’t be a big deal to me, is to allow the people with 2 of the same the chance to turn 1 in for another 1 handed Legendary. If they keep them out of the wardrobe, or made it so that transmuting it to another character didn’t allow footprints/effects then it will be a slap to the face for EVERYONE with a legendary that has wanted to play an alt.

Since this thread seems very negative of the proposed changes, I’m here just to display how happy I am with this changes as a legendary owner.

Now I can finally go around and explore the game on new characters, using my own hard acquired items that I enjoy to use so much. No matter how you look at it, I (the player) worked hard to have my own legendary and now I won’t be bound to use one main character at all times. Makes sense that my legendary is available for all my account to use as a skin instead of only one of my characters.

Having 2 of the same legendaries means you had it and used to dual wield all this time, and you still keep the stats and ability to change it at will. Just because more people can use the skins now it doesn’t mean these players are losing anything, because they aren’t.

I’m guessing most of the people who are effected by this change(those with legendaries) are incredibly happy with it. I know I am REALLY happy about, now I can actually play a few characters without feeling like I am missing out on weapons that I spent a huge amount of time getting in the first place. I am really looking forward to playing my Ranger now so I can use Eternity, Fractal Axe/Fractal Torch, it is going to be awesome! Now they just need to put Hammer on Ranger so I can run a Bunny Thumper with Juggernaut.

I love the thought process of: “I look so unique(LOL) because instead of going for 2 different legendaries I got 2 of the same. But now other people who already had to spend ungodly hours to craft their first one can dual wield them also, that’s unfair!”. Of course these people don’t lose ANYTHING from this change except the superiority that they felt before.

FYI this is from someone who has 3 legendaries none of which will be dual wielded after this patch. (Unless you count the 1 time I run around with Moot/Moot on my warrior.)

The best solution to this will be if they un-bind all legendary weapons with this patch. That way everyone can decide which legendaries to re-bind (thereby unlocking the skin) and which to sell.

One could make the same argument for Black Lion exchange skins or really expensive exotics (such as Volcanus), but that creates a grey area, so it’s probably best to only un-bind legendary weapons.

Now that I think about it, duplicate purchases of gem store skins should be refunded too.

Yaaaaaaaa, that isn’t a grey line at all. So the people who made multiple legendaries are higher priority than the people who made multiple wings of dwayna, volcanus, etc?

Hi, from this point onwards, if you want to reply, please understand the topic of this thread. The original title was changed, but if you want to know the problem here, it is to the people who have duplicate legendaries and felt the wardrobe system is unfair.

If you want to comment on the BiS system, please DO NOT. We are talking about one legendary holders having unlimited amounts of that skin. Therefore making one incinerator holder appear to have two, while original dual incinerator holders feel like their second incinerator (obviously made for looks) is devalued as they worked much harder for the second.

If you are a person with one or no legendaries, please refrain from bashing people with multiple legendaries. If you have only one legendary of each type, great, but us duplicate holders feel that it shouldn’t be an unfair approach towards this when one incinerator holder can wield two of the same skin.

The thread might have started like that, but that’s because it left out that the person with 2 of the same legendary still has BiS even if another tier is added later, and switchable stats, while someone with just 1 and skins does not have this. YOU might now have made a 2nd of the same legendary for the BiS and switchable stats, but it doesn’t give you the right to act like EVERYONE with 2 of the same feels that this is unfair.

I just feel bad for all those people who currently have eternity and will not get twilight or sunrise skins in their drobe.

Per the Dev Blog, having Eternity will grant Twilight and Sunrise, plus the Precursor skins for them as well.

At least that was my understanding of what they said:

If you have an item that has gone through skin progression, like a legendary weapon or one of the Spinal Blade backpacks from the “Escape from Lion’s Arch” and “Battle for Lion’s Arch” releases, you will unlock all of the skins in that direct line of progression. That means that if you made Twilight, you will have access to both the Twilight and Dusk skins across your entire account. If you’ve created the Dynamic Tempered Spinal Blades, you’ll unlock that skin and all previous Spinal Blade skins.

That’s the way I read it also, and I REALLY REALLY hope it is true. I’d like to put Twilight on my Guardian since Eternity doesn’t have the projectiles like Twilight does.

Why? You still need 1.5k+ gold and other accountbound items to make one. A lot of people have legendaries now. Deal with it. Everyone that actually has put in the effort into getting a legendary is psyched about this new update.

Add everyone who is currently working on one, or will maybe start working on one now because of the change to this.

EB utterly broken on SBI/FA/IoJ matchup

Quick update for EB in SBI/FA/IOJ match up. The disconnecting according to atleast the chatter on IOJ chat in EB seems to have cleared up abit for some but alot of people including myself are still getting disconnected at random times. Lag spikes has been very selective as well and hitting randomly and only for a few people instead of everyone at random times. Got a couple messages from friends from FA and SBI that they are experiencing same issue.

This has been happening for the last week or 2 to me also, but I really thought it was my connection/computer. Wondering if I was wrong or not.

I’m confused, every group should have dedicated people finishing. If your group is running around just trying to auto attack everyone to death then you deserve to lose if you allow the other team to finish off someone in your group.

I like how you explained how what I said is stupid, smart one.

Pets:
You summon (long cast), they do damage (if they connect). They can be dispelled by their death, or ignored by fancy foot work and kiting.

Boons:
Press a button. They protect you in the background for a while. Take stability for example, it’s just a single button but has a prolonged benefit kind of like pets. The difference? One is secondary defenses versus secondary offenses.

Yeah, they can be related… Look at spirits for spirit rangers. They’re “AI” but they’re just buffs with an HP bar. People still kitten like they’re some sort of afk kings, they pressed a button, they summoned a buffer. The kitten is no different.

Passive Defense means a player can spend more time risklessly dpsing. Passive offense like phant mesmers/MM/ranger player pets allow some damage while spending time on focusing on their own survivability. And usually these builds have less buttons to survive with, so they have to weigh them out more than other builds.

Your refusal to see how they’re similar doesn’t make them not similar. A button with a prolonged affect with different types of counters and play styles, its all it is. That’s all any of this game is outside of direct damage.

Unfortunately you can’t have a game of 1000 direct damage skills and that’s it because that’d be boring as hell. Learn to play around different play styles?

If Minions and Spirits acted like boons did(active increases in damage, condi, or other effects) it wouldn’t be such a big deal, but both Minion masters and Spirit Rangers MAX THE AOE CAP, so those 2 other teammates on the point with the minion master? ya can’t hit them AT ALL. That little asuran necro hiding in his minions? Sorry my Backstab, Eviscerate, etc just hit his minion instead.

I say if both minion masters and spirit rangers are going to stay viable in sPvP melee cleave damage should hit EVERYTHING in range, and all AoE skills should have no AoE Cap. It would be too kitten the WvW servers, but with less than 25 players in a single sPvP map it shouldn’t be too bad right?

The DPS meta will remain, all this will accomplish is annoying people for no good reason.

This. This change hasn’t made any other stats scale differently, so Healing Power and Toughness are still going to be “less rewarding” per point into it. Another change to PvE at least would have to be making bosses hit for less damage more frequently, that is the only way the zerker meta will disappear.

How does this matter in WvW? And ANY changes in the stale Hammer Train meta is a good change, even if it is in the middle of a “Season” where coverage matters, not what the people in the blob are running.

Leagues have imploded our BP server. We came through season one worse than when we went in as it burned a lot of players out and created a lot of tension between “PUGS” and “Skill Groups” on our server.

With Season 2 T4 is an extremely expensive transfer, a guarantee of being out manned most weeks and no chance of landing the big rewards, we are seeing a huge upward migration off of our server. It is possible this was coming without leagues as most servers transition but these seasons certainly accelerated our decline.

Maybe the ultimate effect of Seasons will be to migrate the population upward and prevent the need for transfers. If that is indeed where this is headed, they should just make transfers to kitten free and jack up the cost to everyone below. It would certainly create a more competitive environment.

You just described Yaks Bend also, same tier same problem coming out of Season 1(90% of our regular WvWers “took a break”, but most never came back) and now we have lost multiple WvW guild from our server to the free transfer servers.

So this is fun, we were in the middle of a match our team was winning pretty readily. EVERYONE gets kicked back to lobby and the match restarts, but 1 person on our team couldn’t get back in until halfway into the “new” match. I….just don’t know how much crap I can take.

Honestly the main issue is that there are too many dead servers…

It should be 18 servers, split in 2 leagues of 9 or 3 leagues of 6.

This wouldn’t just help WvW, it would help PvE. The bottom half servers are desolate places.

Bingo. The solution to the problem is to, unfortunately, close servers and give free transfers to people on the servers that are being closed. Right now there are too few people spread out amongst too many servers. Research would have to be done on what the ideal number of servers would actually be given ACTIVE players, and not just how many accounts are actually on a server. The reality is, most of the servers should not be at Very High population and I would say at least 6 servers if not more need to just be deleted. It’s a touchy subject because no one wants to see their beloved server get deleted but it is needed for the health of the game.

Yup THATS the problem…it’s not that 90% of the wvw population is on 3-4 servers. Totally not the problem AT ALL.

This isn’t circular reasoning.

We’re not saying we are going to do nothing because we said we would do nothing.

We’re saying we won’t change direction (from the previously stated plans) because it would put many players at a disadvantage, and on top of that these players would be hurt because they listened to us.

We seriously considered many different options, and doing nothing seemed the most fair. Do you disagree? Keep in mind, more people used boosters than did not.

Sometimes the system ends up with an imbalance. It happens. Realistically maybe some of the middle tiers should group up on a server and beat them back down. Or transfer down where servers are more even.

If you guys end up with maguuma in tier 3 for leagues you’ll be wishing you had DB back.

Yes, there’s server-wide TS communication, planning, and scouting here in the lower tiers. However, since each server’s coverage can vary dramatically, people tend to only play in tryhard-mode on the weekends. Usually servers have one “large” group (about 30-50 primetime) that hops from map to map making quick strikes at weak points, and then a handful of skirmish/roaming guilds coordinating to stir things up in order to disguise the movements of the larger group. The object here really isn’t about PPT, it’s about putting waypoints in your opponents’ keeps.

Then once the weekend ends, the focus shifts away from trying to out-smart your opponents over objectives and becomes much more fight-oriented. The larger groups actively seek out the other larger groups, skirmish groups go after skirmish groups, and so on. Scouting and defending still happen, but there’s much less emphasis on the scoreboard and more on trying to get some big epic battle going. Bloodlust control is mainly used for attracting attention away from elsewhere, or for after you’ve successfully locked down a map. Most of the time, though, everyone seems to be comfortable just having their own bloodlust buff and letting the enemies have theirs.

tl;dr: Server-wide communication, planning, and even weekly strategy meetings exist in the low tiers, but simply on a smaller scale and with different purpose than upper tiers. The scoreboard holds little-to-no importance here (excluding seasons) and there’s a healthy balance between playing hard for objectives, looking for good fights, and goofing around (gvgs, dueling, quaggan parties, etc) over the course of a matchup. One benefit to having less people is that we can usually recognize each other pretty easily and have some interesting cross-server rivalries/friendships.

That sounds exactly like what Yaks Bend does also. Although we how many people have stopped playing and/or moved servers it happens a little less now.

Great 2 weeks into a WvW 9 week tournament we are going to after re-equip all our WvW characters. That will shake thing up abit…commence the QQ’ing now (in the WvW section of the forum).

I think people in the WvW sections would be happy with any shake up, even in the middle of a “tourney”.

This is the 4th week of YB/IoJ/BP. Boring and stale…. and you can really tell how much it’s affecting WvW participation. That mixed with an already deteriorating WvW situation for BP could mean that these free xfers will completely destroy BP.

Ya it’s also killed wvw on Yaks Bend…although it was already pretty much dead before then.

T1 is completely different to when SoS was up here, not that SoS isn’t too far off from returning to T1.

Pugs are much better organised, players in general are much more aware of what’s expected of them. It’s hard to quantify the difference

It’s not really that much different from what I saw during S1 of the league, but admittedly I only played a few weeks in gold before ducking out. The GWEN meta has fully evolved, people are much better better about using the WP timer for keep defense (“organized”), PvD paper to push PPT when it’s even, and try to push harder stuff when you have coverage advantage. I’m sure every player on a lower tier is shaking in their boots at how advanced this is.

Sorry, not trying to attack you, but with this curve ball anet has thrown before S2 begins, players deserve to hear both sides if they have even faintest desire to transfer to one of the big 3 gold league servers.

Hmm..in addition to those, commanders in t1 communicate not only within the same map but across maps constantly to report enemy movements and whether a significant force has moved in or out of a map. Pushes in maps or reinforcement are called based on these information. Cross map pushes can be organized to serve as distraction for a major push on a major objective. Dedicated scouts are present at most if not all major objectives. Dedicated havoc squads from servers fight over bloodlust constantly.

Overall I just feel the amount of organization has just became much better compared to the days when SOS was still in t1 .

Clearly this only happens on T1.

A complete guess here, but i’m pretty good at guessing.. .I’d say about 10-20% of active soloq players are on the leaderboard, and about 20-25% of active teamq players are on the leaderboard.

I would also estimate that about half of those players are crossovers and play both queues.

If I’m close at all, that would ballpark the active PvP population around 5,500 NA players. No idea if EU is similar.

That’s being very generous. In NA, you have guilds which comprise the majority of the active pvpers. There are a few guilds that people don’t represent, but are in. If you look at that full roster, those are the same people you play against in the ranked matches. Those guild rosters are 200-300 people.

i dont know man just my guild alone has about 40 active players in PvP. my server has probably around 200. If it was 200 for each server that would be 4,800 NA, and I’m on FC a relatively low pop server so…..

And Yaks Bend has like 20 people playing PvP, that is an average number of people I see in HoTM if I’m in there for an hour+.

We’ll go into more detail soon, just to re-iterate so it’s clear:

“The next round of major features will be bundled together into a large “feature only” release that will come after the first season of the Living World 2014 has finished.”

A feature release is not an expansion, it’s a release focused on game features. Examples of game features we’ve done in the past would be: guild missions, account achievement system, spectator mode, new pvp maps, daily world boss chests, removing culling and giving visibility options, the WvW WxP system, etc.

Sadly all I see from this, and other responses is that WvW is going to be left with nothing new till almost June because of Season 2. Going to be well over 6 months since Account bound Wxp was announced, no “fix” to coverage wars, no new balancing for nearly that long…I just don’t know what we have to do to get stuff for WvW that should have been in the game from the beginning. I don’t even want to talk about structured PvP.

Zerker's Viable in WvW?

As a Warrior my guild and I have found running zerker is a very fun and relatively easy thing to do in WvW. It can get dicey in zergs unless you are running with a pretty good group and is good at water fields and movement, but is still pretty easy as long as you keep moving in a pug zerg. If you want to use the build you posted there are only a couple suggestions I would make to help you out, get rid of Restorative Strength since you do not EVER want to actually use Healing sig and replace it with either Great Fortitude or Short Temper. Another thing is you almost need Dogged March in the defense line in WvW helps tremendously.

This is the build I have been using for months now and it will almost always win in a 1v1 and 2v1s. WvW Zerk War

In this you can switch out GS for any weapon you want, but I like to run GS because with leg specialist you can hit someone with bladetrail and spike them with hundred blades pretty well if you position it right. Eviscerate on axe will end fights and it is very easy to set up with throw axe or shield bash. When in a zerg v zerg fight it is needed to keep moving at all times and Whirlwind Attack is a lifesaver.

Edit: I also agree 100% with lioka qiao that the backline of an enemy zerg is where you want to sit and attack, any zerker eles are literally 1 hit with eviscerate and other will go down with 3-4 auto attacks into eviscerate. Warrior is supremely OP.
