I am willing to guess that most of the population would rather have the WxP patch before leagues. I would actually rather have this and a couple dozen general fixes to WvW before leagues.

I like this. Can we forego leagues altogether and get some meaningful fixes/changes to core WvW, instead of more fluff content in the form of EotM and Leagues? That’d be faaaaaaaaaaaaaantastic.

You forget, leagues are a good way for Anet to say “Sorry because of leagues we can’t put any updates into WvW for 2 months!”, even though it’s because they don’t have anything even in the works to put in for WvW…

What most likely happened was you lagged in the open world and eventually DC’ed and the game brought you back to the last known spot that you were at before you lagged.

It’s called rubberbanding, happened quite a bit in the original Guild Wars.

Actually I asked in map right after this and a everyone else had it happen to them, i was mapping Straits at the time and about 5 mins of my completion was rolled back. Have no clue what happened if it happened to noone else but that map.

No More Tricks, Scarlet

  • This achievement requires a good deal of skill and awareness, make sure you are watching for the red telegraphs that show where the Holograms will fire next and make sure you do not run through any active scorch marks during the fight, good luck!

The main problem with this achievement, afaik, is that sometimes you’re ported to Breachmaker when the fight is already ongoing, and instantly die due to spawning on “scorch mark”, so achievement fails from the very beginning.

That was another think I meant to mention, thank you for reminding me, Nighthawk. The Assault knights were intended to be a fight that players had to split up and fight at the same time, it is one of the issues we are currently looking at. The Scarlet Holo fight begins 5 minutes after the first Knight’s death; originally, this was not an issue because a map divided into groups of three would take down the Knights within 5 minutes of each other. However, with recent player tactic changes, the first Knight is dying as much as 10 minutes before players get up to the Breachmaker, meaning that you will portal up into an active fight, possibly die before you load in, and you can lose time on the Scarlet Holo Fight timer. We are working on ways to make sure that players will have much less risk to portal up to an in progress fight.

For the time being, I encourage you to encourage your fellow players to wait to kill the first Knight until a time where the other two Knights are closer to death. If you can get the Prime attunement in under 5 minutes from the first Assault Knight’s death, you will portal up to a grace period and you will have some time to load in and prepare yourself before the Prime Hologram begins her onslaught. Again, it is an issue we are aware of and should improve with the Assault Knight fixes.

I just want to point this out, part of the reason servers started killing the bosses 1 at a time is because of the extra loot, and with many people getting many if not all of the achievements done I don’t see people wanting to continue the event after all the bugs, crashes, etc that are happening if we will only be able to get the champ boxes from 1 knight(if you make it harder to zerg them down 1 by 1).

Edit: Although I say this…I have a feeling I will continue to do this event every so often because it is by far my favorite “open world” event that has been put into the game so far. It seems to be in the right place between needing 100+ people on a mumble server to even attempt to do it and 100 people just pressing the 1 key and afking. The first thing I said to my guildies was “IT HAS MECHANICS AWESOME!”.

Also you are forgetting about Fractals which is a pretty big portion of content(even if the latest Fractals patch has screwed it up royally).

Just finished FOTM scale 44.
Almost 2 hours.

Did you have fun?

There is NOTHING fun about Dredge, not a single thing. Of course you don’t know you are going to get Dredge until you’ve already spent time doing the first 2 fractals. Used to be able to get a PUG for any level of FotM in about 3 mins before the “amazing” fractal update, now you would be hard pressed to find one at all.

It’s a trident, some of the tridents in the pvp locker still have the staff icon of that particular set and are also named “Staff”.

People have been wanting a customizable UI since the very first Beta weekend and this would be something really cool to be able to add into that, but I really just don’t think they care anymore. By a year and a 7 months into the original guild wars we the ability to completely change our UI around however we wanted it, nightfall gave us the ability to create pvp and pve templates so we could easily switch our characters build around in PVE and we had the ability to switch both the build and our equipment with a touch of a button in PVP. Now just look at what we have in GW2, QoL changes have clearly gotten a big middle finger because it just doesn’t create gem sales I guess. Just seems a little short sighted imo.

Lovely. if we have to pay to craft, access vendors, or bank or TP, then a lot of people are going to be leaving this game. Anet, rethink this. Rethink hard.

Divinity’s or Rata Sum are actually even better for tp, bank, crafting…just doesn’t have all the easy portals.

unfortunately that breaks one of Anet’s main design principles: always be happy that someone comes to help you.

tying it directly to ‘points divided by players’ would lead to a lot of QQ when someone jumps in at the last minute to tag your enemy and cuts your reward in half.

Also, it only addresses one of the factors.. it doesn’t take into account how many players were on the other side of the fight(4 players killing 1 of 1 is a lot easier than 4 players killing 1 of 25), differences in stats due to bloodlust, level, quality of equipment, etc..

if there was a simple one-size-fits-all solution, they would’ve thought of it long ago.

The ratio for this to happen doesn’t have to be linear, as in having 1-4 people(as in a single group) attacking the person you kill shouldn’t halve or 1/5th the amount of points you get, but say 5-10 is 3/4 the amount, 10-20 is 1/2, 20-30 is 1/4 and so on.

The main challenge with raising the rewards for player kills is that not all kills are equal.

some require herculean efforts, some are acquired with no effort or risk at all.

If there was a better way of evaluating that, then a scaling reward would be great. without it, all it does is reward the zerg for zerging, and there’s already way more than enough of that.

Your answer to that is:

One of the things that DAOC did to help separate people from the Zergs is divide up the rewards for killing people based on who hit the person.

For example… in GW2…if 60 people unload on someone, all 60 people get whatever that person is worth in terms of WXP, so lets say 50 points..

Now if a solo person was to come along and kill that person, They’d get 50 points….So Zerging its more profitable the more people you have in the long run.

in DAOC, it was the opposite, if 60 people unloaded on someone, They might give 5 or 6 RPs a piece… however..if a solo person kill someone solo, They got 2k RP’s

I’m feeling pretty fed up with this game atm, because it seems that instead of actually making the game hard by making people actually use individual tactics, they are making it hard through “commanding” 100+ people who either don’t care or have no clue what they are doing. But I gave up on getting this point across during the Teq BS event, clearly making the game hard for the individual instead of the group isn’t an ability the ANET team has anymore. FYI I played some GW1 with a guildie the other day and even after 5k hours played I felt it still had more difficulty than GW2 has(at least when you aren’t using Heroes).

You missed my point. I didn’t make your point at all. I simply proved that you play games competitively and you believe everyone has to be like you. You’re saying only you and players like you deserve difficult interesting content. You’re saying no one who started this fight improved because of this fight.

Anet put the marionette fight into the game in their own words, to help train the player base, and some people learned. It was Anet’s intention.

Now, interestingly, I don’t think this is the best way to teach someone, and I think that the aspiration, though noble, is largely wasted in this particularly design.

But I do think that over all the playerbase will start to get a bit better from these types of things. Or, those who fail repeatedly and aren’t good will get frustrated and stop coming.

Not everyone but some.

In this case Anet set the bar just a bit too high…but the idea wasn’t a bad one.

That is the dumbest thing ever, MOST people don’t play video games to LEARN they play them to HAVE FUN. Just the thought of an ANET dev saying they want to teach their playerbase something new kittenes me off because it feels like they are talking down to us, which I know I can’t be the only one that doesn’t like that. Got halfway through what I wanted to say and remembered it’s Vayne I’m quoting and my reply is wasted, because he has brownnosed his head so far up …nvm I’m done.

I don’t want WoW like raids, I want Elite Missions for GW1.

The deep was easily my favorite dungeon.

This x1000000000000 I ran the Deep so many freaking times. Kanaxai is by far the coolest boss in the GW universe imo.

Edit: They wouldn’t even have to change the overall setup of it, 15-20 people in a single group splitting it in 3-4 groups of 5 at the beginning just like in gw1. Course they would have to change many of the other mechanics to make it go along with GW2, but it seems like it would give many of the raid people something they like, but everyone from having to mess with “PuGs” if they don;t want to.

You can trade gold for gems thus you don’t have to pay anything thus it isn’t pay to win. The conversion ratenisnt even bad compared to games like Never winter where it would take years to be able to make enough gold to transfer for enough astral diamonds to buy something simple. Its not pay to win when you can trade for gems. It really isn’t.

I guess Anet can just start putting armorsets into the gemstore that have higher stats than the armor in game has, since we can do gold>gems it won’t be P2W right?

I only read through the first 3 or so pages so I don’t know if this was brought up, but this is the first time(the mining nodes in the home instance can also be considered this also) that we are able to buy something from the gemstore that actually CREATES something of value in the game. It is a really bad precedent to start selling items that create “wealth” or effectively P2W. Gems > Gold doesn’t count for this because that is measured with supply and demand with the player base. And the value of sprockets on the TP also doesn’t matter because no matter how many sprockets are on the TP you are just moving around sprockets already in the game(or destroying them by crafting).

The problem with non instanced content that blizzard figured out years ago is that open raid world bosses not only make for a negative experience for hardcore players, but limit people from ever experiencing the content at all, as shown by people who are constantly being pushed into overflow and forced to fail. Anet’s scaling system for zones, while genius in some respects, completely fails when you put a world boss designed for lvl 80s only in a lvl 60 zone. It is a futile effort on the half of well coordinated players and guilds when they are forced to play the event with players who are no higher experience or skill/gear wise then the zone itself.

The even bigger problem with the whole world boss system is the fact that they DO NOT SCALE. It’s probably one of the biggest intentional oversights of this game, that again, will not be fixed on behalf of anet.

I wish all the white knights on here would understand these points. I brought up all these point during the Teq update, but was white knighted into oblivion at that time, just how it’s going to happen now. I would be the first one praising these updates if they were set up in a way to actually be fun. Instead we get the “fun” of trying to get 50-100 people to do something that they probably have no chance of doing. Of course everyone in the game is at the same skill level though right? So they should all be able to do everything that the person next to them can do.

Yeah, this has been a weird week for us (SoS), I am not sure it is the fairweathers, because let’s face it, you guys are terribly boring to fight. As much as I respect your ability to hold PPT, it’s just a super boring way to do WvW, I much prefer being outnumbered by Tier 1 servers, than servers that constantly run back to their 17 arrow carts they have jammed around a gate.

Or if everyone is just on vacation, who knows. We’ll see next week what happens.

I gotta say SoS is the boring server to fight, huge queue blobs, horrible roamers, glitchers taking towers, and really bad PvF. All around I can understand why 90%% of our population is still taking a break.

Oh they do, but for the EXACT SAME REASON that the guy I responded to said. Because they just got run over by a larger Maguuma or YB force and want some blood. Because apparently, Maguuma and YB never run in less than server queues. Or close enough as looks like it.

I can’t believe someone from SBi is talking about qBlobs from Mag and YB. There is a reason some people like to call the SBi zerg the Zombie horde, it’s because you literally have everyone that can be on the map in that one spot(plus they follow the commander around like zombies even if he chases 1 guy).

Mag talks big, but all I see are zergs and trash roamers using FOTM builds that get destroyed by anyone with a brain.

Because you have a much higher chance of winning in solo Q. In team Q, you’re likely to get pitted against organized teams of players who likely are talking on Vent, have played together before, and have a more optimal team composition.

I’m sorry, but it seems for at least most people on the leaderboards the win percentage is still close to 50%. I know I have a much easier time right now getting wins in TeamQ over YoloQ.

No it comes uninfused, and you can’t insert it into the mf yet to infuse it.

I got the recipe(s) from the giant wintersday box; took ~1000 to get both.

Sadly, you can’t sell the Dwayna recipe or backpiece on the TP, but it looks like Grenth is possible.

Mucho money though, but in the end, I’m glad I made Dwayna. Looks amazin!

Does Dwayna come with stats? Or do you have to tstone an existing one?

If people will keep getting frustrated and afk then it is not an unfair ban.

Ever thought about someone getting kicked, because their internet decided to die? Or a power outage. I can be fine for 99% of my matches, but there is always a chance that I would be booted more than 5 times a month, but clearly I shouldn’t play PvP so that you don’t have a 4v5 once in a while. Starting a game with 4 people is a different story though.

Like I said…THAT is a visibility bug that comes from having the weapon equipped while queueing from PvE

The code is datamined. You think it’s possible that, knowing the visual bug happens, this guy went and found the code for the item that’s not ingame yet? Durrrrrr.

Like WE said you are wrong, the visual bug is just the aura of quip(or any of the other legendary weapons that have an aura), and what is in the screenshot is the FOOTPRINTS.
