This is
Its been a year, so you should all know what I’m talking about.
You cannot invite people from your friends/guild lists. You cannot right click a name in chat to invite people. You cannot kick people from your party. I actually know people to leave to lion’s arc just so they can manage their party. Heaven forbid your friend decided to use special characters in his name…
Yes, we are able to make it work. But I’m sick of telling everyone to drop group and then typing in invites again, just because someone signed off without dropping group. This is a modern day MMO! Party UI functions should be a given.
Why is the party system so messed up in WvW? Is there a technical problem or limitation or something? I would really love to get a dev response on this.
Please keep this thread alive until we get an answer.
Congrats GoM and FC. You have officially ruined WvW for me. Your blatant alliance is disgusting. Not only do you both outnumber us, you need to team up against us? PATHETIC. Not only pathetic but you’re driving off any new players we try to get into because no one really wants to be rolled over by a twenty to one mob, much less try to face two servers doing so. Not much fun when you can’t get out the door, not much point.
And those complaints about arrow carts ruining wvw in the other thread, about how they’re a “crutch” for low population servers now? After this past week I wouldn’t feel bad at all about one shotting a whole zerg with one. So dev’s, in my opinion, crank’em up even more. In fact here’s a good idea, add some nuke’s to the arsonal so I could one shot a whole BL. To be fair, give ‘em a five minute cool down…..
Sorry Darkothe for being the first to “whine” but this sucks bad for all of us in AR and is driving off the few we can muster, including me. Have fun dukeing it out 1v1 with GoM, we’ve pretty much given up.
You must be new here… allow me to explain.
When one team has literally no coverage, then the other two teams fight over their territory. We are not allied, far from it! We are trying to deny each other points.
If GoM was really playing hardball, we would just camp AR BL 24/7 and get an insane PPT. Instead we have been focusing FC all week. If anyone has a reason to complain it is FC, because they should have WAY higher PPT than AR, except that we focus them.
The sad truth is that AR is getting rolled by the “leftovers” from the FC vs GoM war. But you don’t need to think about this as a demoralizing defeat. Some of my favorite times in WvW where when we were constantly being destroyed by DH. Don’t worry about “winning” and focus on doing the best you can with what you have. If they send 50 people to kill your 5 man, take it as a complement.
I noticed swords at lake and went to check it out, secs before took screen shot the guy was on ram running it, I guess they didn’t noticed the open wall =/
I sensing a theme.
Perhaps HoD doesn’t believe in walls? Or maybe it is a leave no destructible object behind thing?
So….
No new map.
Nothing about GvG
Adding sPVP into WvW
No Golem Mastery (hehe)Well done…. good way to kill the WvW.
No need for new maps when we have space in the old maps that needs to be used.
You know GvG has nothing to do with WvW its a crated thing by the players and it may be best to keep GvG out of WvW in the long run.
WvW is about capping points its the same as in Spvp just in WvW you have a wall to help you most of the time its kind of nice for the open filed ppl to have open filed objectives that are more then just wxp etc…
You kind of have Golem Mastery as is just worth a lot of points max guard def / attk effects Golems.New maps or at least updated map aesthetics would be hugely appreciated by a great deal of people.
GvG has everything to do with WvW because it affects WvW in its current organization.
If Anet wants to make legit GvG, it will be an addition to custom arenas. WvW was never designed for it.
cheers to the [ASH] guild in GoM. as well as the [RH] group in our bl. was fun
your both beautiful to me
Ya that was good fun last night. Hats off to you guys!
It is what it is. YB easily outnumbers kaineng and unless we have an organized push from a few guilds we usually do not even have the numbers to push in YB and take mroe then a single tower. Using the same numbers we can push GOM and get a couple towers and a keep.
PPT means the GOM is a much smarter target. I dont like it… lets be honest, but that is how Anet setup the match. If we focus on YB we might slow their point gain yes… but then GOM has the freedom to hit things uncontested while we are throwing everything at YB. This means less PPT for us, and mroe PPT for GOM, while barely scratching YBs PPT.
This means we risk losing 2nd place to GOM. Sorry not a smart bet. Am I happy with 2nd place? Nope… but tis a hell of a lot better then 3rd.
Eat them words!
Next time, listen to TBA…
I’ve read some horrible matchup threads that made me want to gouge my eyes out.
This one puts all of those to complete shame.
Worst. Thread. Ever.
Well…
PAXA (with help from Os) currently holds the record for worst forum thread ever, but a great many parties have joined forces to break that record this week. Someone get Guinness on the phone, we are getting close.
Good team effort guys!
Edit: Wow, while I was writing this post, PAXA already showed up to defend their title.
(edited by titanlectro.5029)
Oohhh so DR is in last place! Thank you wish i couldnt see the scoreboard for some reason!
19. IOJ 149503 +1.473
16. GOM 171385 -9.966
20. DR 145207 +8.536Yep, last place. To a server 1.3 tiers above us and a server with Oceanic coverage that completely owns us. And yet we are gaining rating, almost as much as you are losing. So, against 2 servers you should be dominating, you are losing rating points. And both of us are gaining. I agree, we are in last place. We suck. We just don’t suck nearly as much as you do.
We don’t have much oceanice coverage anymore, karma trains in EB on day crew dismantled our EB night crew really hard… We had 4 people at one stage trying to defend and on the only thing we owned in EB was our keep. The 4 that were on were extremely thankful RISE guild came to save EB while Ioj guys were halfway through trebbing the keep and DR were bringing golems. So by saying that, the truth is it’s Ioj that have supreme dominance during oceanic time zone now and DR can still field more people than us atm as I seen when you took durious from us, unless you call 2 GoM vs 6 DR as us having more. We also lost some more night crew players that used to help alot over the last few days to Tarnished Coast due to the bullkitten that happens within our own server and when a guild benefits themselves at the expense of the server this will only get worse.
GoM’s problem is a lot simpler than that. We are bored.
In order for GoM to fight a tougher opponent, we need to get a large positive roll and DH/SBI needs to get a strong negative roll. All other random rolls will result in us fighting weaker servers again. This is a ~25% chance of a challenge, and a ~75% of stomping weaker servers again. (This is just estimated math, I’m sure someone has the hard numbers.)
This is happening because of the HUGE artificial rating gap between rank 15 and rank 16. I call it artificial because last time we fought DH, we only lost by a little. NSP fared quite well against the T5 servers also. There is no reason for such a 250+ rating gap. Once GoM or NSP gets the opportunity to test that rating gap, it will collapse. But we need a really lucky random roll to get that chance.
So GoM is bored. I’ve barely played WvW this week, and my guild has not played it much either. Some of my “I hate all things PvE” members are working on map completion. The truth is, GoM is phoning it in.
It just goes to show you that morale is everything in WvW.
Would love a dev response on this one!
It is 1600 range. Period.
Plus there’s a long activation time on the transform that gives enemies plenty of time to stun, cripple or imobilise. Not only that, you need to untarget first, otherwise it does the Elementalist RTL trick of pulling you back into trouble.
That means you can’t use autotargeting any more. All in all, it’s a clumsy elite to use. What we have here is an L2P issue. If you think it’s so great, roll a Norn and see how useful it is. Then you can figure out a counter.
It goes farther than the listed 1600 range. If you hold the button down, it goes closer to 3000. You have enough time to use it twice, so 6000 distance total.
Also, when you start transforming into snow leopard, you can use the stealth right away, before the animation finishes. This improves your chances of not being CC’d.
All of that said, if Snow Leopard is better than your class elites, then it is the class elites which need help. Snow Leopard is 2-3 casts of 5 seconds of stealth and 2 long-range charges, on a 240 second cooldown using up your elite slot. If you are willing to give up your elite slot for such a skill, it is not snow leopard’s fault…
This is part of a larger problem, where generally elites suck. Ask yourself, if you were allowed to slot a utility skill in the elite slot, would you?
Do it!
I couldn’t agree more.
They should not stop with a WvW sub-forum. They should divide it up more.
I’m pretty sure a lot of us have agreed to let GoM take the cake and just have fun smashing IoJ all week.
Good luck everyone.
I think it is soooo cute that you think you are “letting” GOM do anything. That is like the mouse “letting” the lion run the jungle.
Not sure what you’re talking about. If we wanted to win we would be winning. We are letting GoM win, because we’re just that good.
Kittens ain’t kitten.
Ron paul for president.
The N word. You wouldn’t win if if you had 3 servers join you. You can’t compete with GOM on any level.
In fact IF IF (don’t think too hard there) we had 3 other servers join us we wouldn’t have coverage gaps. So we would in fact beat you. Your post lacks logic. Try again young forum warrior. Long way to come you have.
You’ll have to forgive ARM.
He used to be the GoM’s #1 troll, but he has fallen on hard times as of late. They nerfed his ele build (quite of a few of the “unnerf d/d ele” threads are his), and apparently his forum warrior build as well.
It’s so sad to see how far he has fallen…

I love them all!
Each one of those skills would add either active defense or build variety.
I’m pretty sure a lot of us have agreed to let GoM take the cake and just have fun smashing IoJ all week.
Good luck everyone.
Great fights this reset!
DR, you been doing a great job building up your server!
You had better believe it! Which is a yes.
Awesome! Thanks for the quick answer.
We’re coming for you…FROM BEHIND
Oh my…this is quite possibly the greatest thing ever. Expect a trouble for posting this though lol
Your probably right, but if NASA can get away with it on Mars…

From the new blog post: https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/looking-ahead-guild-wars-2-in-2013/
Champion Rewards
Champions in the game will be updated so each will always drop a guaranteed reward box for any player that qualifies for a reward from the boss. This chest will contain things like crafting materials, skill points, unique skins, lodestones, and more. This change will make champions more rewarding, and will make playing in Orr and Southsun Cove (where events can scale up to add champions) more exciting and fruitful for guilds and players joining together in the open world.
Will these new champion reward boxes apply to tower/keep lords? Please say yes!
1) Player supply and demand controls the gem to gold conversion. If gems where as cheap as you want them to be, no one could ever convert gems to gold, and then you would have no gems to buy at any price.
2) The flute is a good deal, check out how much the bell costs.
http://www.gw2spidy.com/item/38129
lol i love the new name our fellow servers have started using for anvil rock. zombieland. makes sense cos we ARE as awesome as that movie is after all, so naturally the boot fits…haHA!
Umm… You are either confused or trolling or making some sort of really obscure joke, but I’m gonna assume confused.
GoM has a guild named Zombieland [WvW]. I’m pretty sure that all references to Zombieland in this thread are references to that guild.
The flute is tuned to E Major, in case people were wondering. The Choir Bell is C Major, even though the 1 key is D.
The OP is wrong here.
They’re called Black Lion Chests remember? Evon’s company does, in fact, make them. Do you honestly believe he’s not so devious as to seed those chests throughout Tyria for no other reason than to sell the matching keys?
This man has a point!
You think Evon personally goes around handing boxes to Skelk, or chucking them inside of Orrian horrors just so you’ll buy keys? Ridiculous.
It is not ridiculous, it is fiendishly clever!
Just think about it. Simply place an employee in map zone, and place a heart on the map at his location (who do you think sells the maps!?). Then have the employee instruct these would-be adventurers to deliver these boxes to the various creatures in the area (call them bombs, or refuge supplies, or spy kits, or scientific experiments). Then when other adventures “stumble” into the boxes, you are there ready and waiting to “help.”
Game Update Notes
LIVING WORLD
- Evon Gnashblade has won the seat on the Lion’s Arch Captain’s Council. For the next two weeks he will be near the lion fountain where you can congratulate him. He will reward you for your support with a back piece that looks like a slot machine.
- Black Lion Chests now have a rare chance to drop a Mouth of Torment Key. The Mouth of Torment Key is a soulbound consumable that adds the new Fall of Abaddon Fractal to the fractal roll table for your party for one hour. Mouth of Torment Keys can only be obtained from Black Lion Chests, and only for a limited time!
BLACK LION TRADING COMPANY GEM STORE
- Black Lion Keys are now on sale for 20% off! Get your Mouth of Torment Keys while you still can!
Fixed that for you. There is no way they will just give you the keys for gems, you got to RNG for it and put an unnecessary and vague time-limit on it!
(P.S. Gibson, your post made my day.)
1) I really appreciate everything the WvW team has done for us. It has had a significant and positive affect on my favorite aspect of GW2.
2) Development resources should be expanded for WvW, especially when it comes to communicating with players on the forum.
I’m not sure why people seem to think that agreement with point number 2 requires a denial of point number 1.
So I was thinking. Evon is offering to throw a huge gem store sale for four weeks. Kiel is offering waypoint travel discounts. Which one of these puts money in Anet’s pocket?
Set aside, for a moment, the fact that Evon seems like the type of cat that might rig an election. If Anet has plans in place to make this sale happen, it stands to reason they plan to make a profit from it. And it seems illogical to just not go ahead and make money when they could. So from a real world business standpoint, I think this sale is inevitable (in some form or another), no matter what the players chose.
Back to Evon being a shady crook who peddles RNG boxes and consorts with the Consortium. Just because it would financially benefit Anet to pull the wool over our eyes, doesn’t mean it can’t be all part of the story, and thus fair.
I think Evon might rig the election, throw his gem store sale, and part of this living story quest will involve uncovering his dastardly plot. Next living story release may involve a revolt against Evon lead by Kiel, where the players must chose a side again. Maybe Evon paid the Aetherblades to kill that council member!
Anet can always add both of those fractals later, the player choices may simply decide which one we get first.
Edit: Oops sorry I didn’t realize I posted this in the wrong area, could a mod please move it?
It’s a good theory!
Or Anet could just rig it so that playing a piece of GW1 history is connected to their black loin key payday, oh wait…
See for yourself: https://www.guildwars2.com/en/the-game/releases/july-23-2013/#cutthroat-politics
A vote for Evon supports RNG boxes, the true scourge of GW2. Down with RNG and down with Evon!
(unless your buying intel off the IoJ spy, then shame on you)
Someone is selling intel from your server? What a sad, sad person if he seriously doesn’t have anything better to do…
Of course, in this match-up buying intel is beyond pointless.
On a staff ele, you can do good support and still throw out a helpful amount of damage (especially to siege).
Here is what I do:
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fEEQFAWhEmKbzR5gjDAkCnEeQADJUeMzO2A-j0xAoLAqAQ2rIas1sioxqmJiq1LYuEMA-w
Condimentalist! Use Ketchup Attack!
(Sorry, someone had to say it. Personally I prefer the sandwichmancer.)
We’ve kinda got more people than anyone else below Darkhaven, I think, so being matched with us is as zergy as it gets below rank 15.
Unfortunately, there is currently a 232 point rating gap between rank 15 (DH) and 16 (GoM). Whereas, the gap between 16 (GoM) and 24 (ET) is only 256 points. This means it is far more likely that GoM will get paired with lower ranked teams than higher ranked teams. To break out of a lower tier matchup, GoM needs a strong positive roll and DH needs a strong negative roll. Whereas anything else will probably have GoM stomping again (except something like NSP/DR/GoM).
However, if we do get lucky enough to play higher ranked servers, we will steal rating from them for sure (even if we lose). We just need the chance.
(edited by titanlectro.5029)
I would be happy if cleaning fire were a blast finisher.
That would be so awesome!
GoM, I hope you meet Ebay soon. AR why don’t you tell em a thing or two about Ebay
Ugh, I’d be lying if I said I would rather see Ebay again, GoM over Ebay any day.. lol
Truth is, GoM wants a tough fight. Personally, I’d be willing to get stomped in order to get that fight.
AR, you are not alone with your transfer woes. I truly sympathize with you guys. GoM lost wave after wave of people to transfers (some to AR ironically). GoM hit rock bottom a long time ago and started rebuilding back in Jan/Feb (if memory serves). We did a lot of that rebuilding back when DH crushed us every week, and we loved it.
We knew we could not beat DH, so we were competing against ourselves. How many DH could we tie up with 5 people? How many towers can we cap by out-maneuvering the DH zerg? How many points could we hold against the swarm? When we forced DH to commit 50 people to defeat our 10 man group, we would all congratulate each other, even though they wiped us.
GoM has come a long way since then. We have only had one large guild transfer, (ironically Zombie Land came from HoD, which was the other server that DH crushed every week.) So everyone still on GoM is here because we love the challenge of fighting tougher servers.
Stomping on weaker servers is fun for a short while, but my first love is to be the underdog. I think I speak for most of GoM when I say that stomping weaker servers every week is driving us crazy. We don’t want to do that to our opponents and we have nothing to strive for. So we run karma trains or PvE or search for duels, while we wait for the random roll system to give us a challenge.
So bring on Ebay (or BP or DH). I don’t care if we win or not, I just want the challenge.
In the meantime, I envy you guys on IoJ and AR a little. I have nothing but respect for those of you who are still fighting. Take pride in your victories, you’ve earned them.
Little Bro, Middle Bro, and Big Bro back together again…
I’m not crying… this is just allergies.
The one thing AR should have done was killed your karma train by starving it to death, but players here are stubborn. I tried to explain no karma = no karma zerg.
.
It would have worked.
It would have worked really well.
And what about Repair Mastery? Where does that have any value at all?
Three players + stealth + repair mastery = door closed on keep, before the zerg even targets them.
Eles already have Cleansing Water, Cleansing Wave, Evasive Arcana Water Dodge, and the move Cleansing Wave on Offhand Dagger. Adding more will only add to the utter disparity that exists between Eles and other classes when it comes to condition removal.
The problem is that condition application has become far too rampant. Eles don’t need condi removal as much as the ability of other classes to apply so many conditions needs to be dialed back.
There is also Healing Rain. And then there is Healing Rain + Cleaning Water, which is even more crazy. Elemental Attunement + Cleansing Water removes an addition condition (AoE) just for switching to water. Runes of Dwayna + Cleaning Water will turn every use of the 6-skill into an AoE condition removal.
Ele’s have some of the best AoE condition removal in the game, no need to buff it.
Do you even realize that siege like arrow carts are an anti-zerg mechanic.
Anti-zerg mechanic frequently used by zergs themselves to counter the opposition.
If you think these changes favour smaller numbers, then you’re deluded. This was already stated by the majority on here when they first decided to buff AC’s completely out of the blue.
ACs are anti-zerg siege. Zergs are allowed to use anti-zerg siege too. (Just like aircraft can have anti-aircraft missiles.)
The important part is that you don’t need a zerg to use ACs. Three defenders with ACs can bring a 30 man siege to a halt.
Dev post from an hour ago on the topic of siege.
WvW is about many things, but one of the biggest of them is siege weapons. We will continue to make changes and additions to the game to make siege weapons more varied and more interesting while also changing other aspects of the game. But it will always be a game type that uses siege weapons and uses them a lot. It is part of what makes WvW unique and the strategy involved is important. And before you mention it, I have died to many, many arrow carts.
Source: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/wuv/wuv/Build-Master-New-WvW-ability/2386741
If your guild has the most people in the circle when you captured the objective (let’s say camp), your guild can claim it first. Others guilds have to wait 3 (NOT 5) minutes before they can claim, so when the Supervisor’s buff reaches 2 min., you can claim it.
This is the correct answer. I don’t think there is an official source for this, but it has not been wrong for months.
It did not always use to be this way. I think they implemented it to stop people from reping personal guilds with the supply buff running. It is quite cheap/easy to make two personal guilds, and buy enough influence to keep the +5 supply buff going all the time. Now you cannot just take a camp, rep, claim, get 15 supply, then rep back.
Thanks for the confirmation! Based on the wiki, I was already thinking that this skill was a bad idea.
I’m not sure, but I think Pocachubbz is just playing chicken with the ban hammer.
He appears frustrated that his trolling is not getting himself banned fast enough (even when 90% of the post is HAAAAA and ROLF), so now he has escalated to clear and objective ToS violations like typing in all caps and double posting.
If he starts a petition using only l33t speak, then we will know for sure…
Yes, EB has HOURS long queues and a full map running in one group during the karma trains.
Wow….just wow.
As Dov said, we’ve (AR) been together with the likes of Ebay for MONTHS, who are competitive in T3, and they didn’t have numbers like GoM. Maybe they do now, but holy hoopleheads, why why WHY are you guys in T6/7/8 with your population?
To put it into perspective, one month ago, BEFORE we lost a huge portion of our WvW population, AR could AT BEST (ie. everyone getting on the same map) queue ONE map for maybe 10 minutes. Now…..hah! If we put everyone onto one map (NA prime time mind you….I’m not talking off-peak) we might be able to get 40 people on a map. 40. Total. Meanwhile GoM seems to be able to run 40+ zergs on multiple maps at the same time.
IMO we’re headed to T8, and if there was a T9, we’d likely go there. We’ve just lost too many people to be able to match 60-man zergs and unless we get EVERYONE onto a map, we typically have 10-15 (and more are leaving….it’s not over yet). GW2, to a large degree, is a numbers game, and no matter how “good” or “bad” you are, 10 vs. 60 isn’t going to go well for the 10.
Anyway, GoM, I am thoroughly convinced based on playing servers that are 2-3 tiers above you that if you picked up your game you could be competitive with them. Organize, train, work on tactics, and go beat the kitten out of some T3-4 servers. :-)
Trust me, we are not T3-4 material, yet.
Everyone keeps asking why we are not higher ranked. The answer is complex, but here it is.
1) GoM does not have the population you think we have.
Yes we are queuing the map with the karma train, but that is because you simply cannot top that rate of XP/Karma any other way. People are flocking to it because it is so valuable, it is not our normal WvW crew. In fact, we have been recruiting PvE players and new players to join us on the karma trains, as an attempt to get PvE players involved in the WvW community. Trust me, these numbers will disappear when playing WvW is less profitable.
2) GoM has consistently been given a negative random roll.
(Note: If you don’t understand the new random match-up system, there are many good explanations of it on the forum here.) GoM has been getting a negative random roll every week. We are always fighting servers below our rating. The only serious fight we have had in weeks was that one week with DH.
When you get a large positive random roll, you have an opportunity to steal rating from a higher tier server if you can hold your own. When you get a large negative roll, you have to protect yourself from losing rating to servers weaker than you. Since GoM keeps getting negative rolls, we have not had much chance to climb ratings. Our only option to move up in ratings it to completely crush our competition into the ground, which we do not have a lot of motivation to do.
3) GoM Stacks EB
(Note: I’m probably giving away trade secrets here.) GoM is home to some really great EB focused guilds (I’m more of a BL person myself). We will often queue EB, and have less than 10 people in every other map. When GoM BL gets hit hard, we often have to call in the EB crew to help. When we rush a map, it is usually every BL guild and a large chunk of the EB crew. It might look like GoM has hundreds of people because you see 80 GoM on EB, but there are probably only 100 GoM in WvW total. If GoM divided that up and only had 25 people on each map, it would feel very different.
CONCLUSION
When GoM gets a large positive roll, half our numbers will disappear, the karma trains will end and we will get down to business. We will hold our own (especially in EB) and go up in rating. But in the end, it will be our night crew which saves the day, (Aussies and Insomniacs FTW!)
(if they buy them with coin anyways)
I didn’t even think of that. Badges of Honor just got a hard convertible value in gold. Badge of Honor ~= 1 silver.
This will make people think twice about buying exotics with badges. 200 badges + 1 gold is now equivalent to 3 gold, which may or may not be better than the going AH rate.
Siege being tradable will certainty change the game.
But it does cause me to wonder if it will just shift more of the burden to commanders. If people get siege from JP/drops/world ranks, they could just sell them on the AH.
I know I’ll be torn when a golem print drops…
@OP
I completely agree.
Thank you for defining Handicap for me…
“2. The disadvantage or advantage itself”
Siege = Advantage = Handicap.
Please, please, before you post, try to figure out what exactly it is you are trying to say, or prove, it’ll save you this kind of embarrassment.
I love how GoM is trying to antagonize me, and calling me a troll for pointing out their exact words. THEY said they are disorganized, THEY said they are unavailable to play a ground troop game, THEY said they need AC, and supply to be successful. I am just reiterating this.
Why so mad?
By not using siege, you are handicapping yourself. In this sense, there is a handicap.
However, objectively within the game, there is no handicap. The only handicap is the one you invented for yourself.
In this sense, you are just like PAXA, you should really look them up in the forum history (Here is a great example: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/wuv/wuv/3-15-NSP-GoM-HoD). You have created a new set of rules for yourself, and then held everyone else to that standard. You are indeed more skilled at following your self-made rules. But why should others follow the rules you invented?
Whenever someone defeated PAXA, they would immediately defend themselves. They would argue that they only lost because the other side did not follow the rules. According to PAXA, our victories did not “count” because they were “invalid.” But they were only invalid by PAXA’s own personal definition.
Feel free to keep handicaping yourself, but don’t expect us to follow your rules.
(Edit: -facepalm- Here I am participating in a forum war… You really did make me nostalgic.)

Question, i know fire tree has no real love due to our survivability, but would a celestial setup perhaps allow us to take advantage of 30 fire setup in any way? say something like 30/0/0/20/20
I run 30/0/0/10/30 staff ele using soldier’s armor and cleric’s trinkets. I spent a while crunching numbers (too lazy to recreate all the math here), but it doesn’t look like celestial will be a significant improvement.
You definitely get a boost in condition damage (~20 bleed, ~100 burn, plus that much again if you maintain 10 stacks of might). For my current build, the added crit chance/damage balanced out with the loss in power. However, raw power is better for killing siege. (I play WvW.) The loss of toughness and healing power will hurt a fair bit, and is not offset by ~1k more HP.
Basically, it is a trade off. More condition damage for less survivability. It would definitely work, but it is not game changing. If you really wanted it to work well, you need to improve the crit chance somehow without sacrificing even more power.
So to answer your question:
I already feel that 30 in fire works for my build. Celestial will also work for the same thing, although I like my current gear better for my needs.
Looks like some people are trying to out troll PAXA…
Give up now, your quest is impossible. PAXA invented the “Only the game mechanics we like count” forum tactic. You cannot beat them at their own game. All you are doing is making my nostalgic.
I`m a staff ele commander. It’s quite handy in that I can often take out the arrow carts, cannons or other pesky things that are threatening my group without having to rely on others to do it for me.
It’s also handy in terms of ground control. Being able to throw down those red circles is a great way to manipulate enemy troops and to prevent them going to certain places.
Having toughness as a main stat helps a lot. I run a condition build.
I run staff ele also.
You are completely right about throwing down red circles, you can herd the enemy zerg around with them.
I run soldier’s armor, cleric’s jewelry. This is not the best DPS for players, but it is perfect from siege killing. (Remember, only power matters when killing siege, not crit, condition, or crit damage.) I can stay alive and kill the AC’s pinning down my zerg or the catas/rams attacking the keep I’m defending.
Having access to static field without having to call for it is HUGE. You just tell people to get ready, and you trigger the trap yourself.
I also run with soldier runes, so I am a massive source of swiftness for my zerg (Windborn Speed + Heal Skill + Static Field/Arcane Wave).
I might not be as good as a warrior or guardian at charging into an enemy zerg, but I do alright. Mist form is your friend. I rarely never die unless the entire zerg dies too.
