I will never understand why people take guard when you can get the same effect using heal as one and free up a utility slot.

i was just wondering how heal/con builds are doing i am starting to play again after a year break from game

when did rangers get on the low list again?i have been gone a few months me and a few others do great 1v1 2v1 with are heal build most of the time we could last long enough 3v1 for back up to show up but then again we was using the build everyone was talking kitten on because it was an old build that still worked great just not has good has it used to

i have had people call me a hack,said i sucked or needed a new build after killing them in pvp.some people cant handle being beat

i finally started getting ascended stuff. i saved up for another ascended ring come to find out i cant wear it. i wasted 35 days on a ring i cant put on. now i have to save up all over again .Anet please put a warning up saying you cant have two of the same ascended trinkets like you can the exotics . this is the first time i am upset with you guys

lol they took my post down about sky hammer. guess if there are to many post about sky hammer they would have to do something. by taking posts down to one makes it seem like its only a few people have a problem with skyhammer

sorry that your getting skyhammer all the time i am getting people starting to blow off points all together and just go around knocking,fearing and pulling you off a thief and a guard they would go to different spots and thief would make them invisible and when someone walk by the guard would pull people off with his great sword then take off hide in a diffrent spot and do same thing

Just wanted to say i love your player vs. player maps. but i was wondering if there is anyway you can make it so we can choose not to play the player vs gravity map in solo q. i just have to ask were you guys in a bad mood when you made skyhammer?

i am not sure about other classes but skills to help your party warriors banner helps team 100% of the time so does the guardians boons but are spirits are only a 35% chance to help your party unless we trait for it.i find it odd that Anet makes us trait to make are spirits work 100% of the time when warriors and guards don’t need to trait for group support they just push a button

best advise i can give is after every match try a different build tell you find one you like.With tactics learn the other classes skills so you can counter them.

playing a ranger does take a lot of practice to be good. but they are so much fun to play.my favorite class was a guardian tell i decided to roll a ranger.now rangers my favorite class

anyone else see lots of teams in soloq that zerg point? are they new to pvp or just don’t care. i ended up in one today and we lost i got killed over and over defending the gate because the rest of my team was capping one point while the other team was busy capping the other two so in the end what ended up happening was the other team just kept killing me because i was trying to do my job defending one spot and when i called for help none to be seen unless they came to cap the one i was on then leave..funny i was blue team and the hole match there was always 2 red points and 1 blue

i was wondering if any of you had a cool moment in pvp where you were shocked about what just happened. i had one of my favorites today. i had just got the temple point so i headed to the gates and i see one team mate dead, the other downed so i ran up behind the other team i used entangled it got all 4 that were there .killed one soon has it hit he was downed already the other three i stood in between them and used torch two in less then 5 sec all dead i know some will think its no big deal but i thought it was really cool. i would love to hear about your guys moments

tell this day stacking and skipping mobs have baffled me but i do understand why it is done. i was wondering if you guys think upping the range of boons and better loot from mobs would fix this i am really interested what you guys think it would take

I think its because the ranger has never had its day in the sun. Most of the other classes have had periods when they were amazing to play, so much overpower. Each class has had its day bar the ranger. Even warriors had a time when they were utterly junk and no one used them. Now they are hideously overpowered. Thief used to be the rage, now its a bit rubbish, still great for roaming but the tricks are gone.

wasnt last summer spirit rangers heyday? where in pax tournament entire comps were built around neutralizing spirit ranger?

check this out tell me what you think, this should solve your problems.

pet tips is to bind the attack key to your mouse or close by.
bind f2 to R on your keyboard . its with in reach there.
and i use C binded for petswap or mouse side button.
you can leave your pet on agressive , if you get someone low and they run away and you don’t need your pet right away let him chase him a little bit, if the pet catches him if his low enough he will go down , the swap your pet to get him to come back recall takes too long to recall after that kind of tactic.

he’ll be downed and out of the game for a few secs and every second counts in pvp.
heck if his down and a friendly player comes by he can spend a few secs to stomp the guy.

the major tip about pets is ot remember where they are, and to remind yourself to keep them close using the attack f1 to make sure they are on the correct target.
if there is a different target next to your target that is low on hp , F1 your pet to attack that target and help down him while you keep pressuring your orginal target.

tried that build yesterday but with entangled and axe torch rolled into the middle of a battle to take a point used entangled torch then axe dear god they melted away it was fun the number six on the runes was amazing to watch

I’m pretty sure the relevance of those videos have been diminished as time goes by. Idk what obscure footage you’ve seen recently that shows ranger outperforming multiple opponents but I dare say those might be black-swans.

Using Settler or Cletic for solution is just a worst idea.

You do no dmg and better play other class that can bunk and might stacking the same time.

this build is bad, you cannot not counterpressure and you cannot outsustain any decent player while you lack range damage. There are better choices than this. The times of ranger as a melee class are over.

i do good when it comes to killing i have had no trouble what so ever except what i said in post melee ranger are over? i walk all over 90% of the rangers with bows.

i always get trashed on the forums for my opinion but with my melee ranger most warriors and guards are the easiest to kill only problem i have is necro/mes

Hai guys.

I keep seeing and seeing comments saying that rangers suck at WvW, we have no AoE, we suck, bla bla bla, and I wanted to give my opinion.

We might not have the best AoE out there, but we definately have some great power with Piercing Arrows and a LB. It works incredibly good when the enemy is stacked, which happens usually when buffing, regrouping and attacking with the train.
Just imagine: each arrow can hit up to 5 enemies. All our LB skills use arrows. We shoot 10 arrows with #2, that’s a max of 50 targets in 4 seconds. #5 can hit up to 60 times with a nice AoE cripple.

And the best thing is we can do that from safety with that 1500 range! I usually look for high spots where I’m prolly gonna get ignored and just pewpew from there. It is kittening awesome.

Trust me, if you see the enemy zerg stacking up in a pixel, go ahead and unleash all your arrows on them, you’ll get like 3045345345 tags with decent damage, apply conds to them (#2 vuln, #5 cripple..) and will put most of them in combat. Add a Sigil of Fire and profit xD

And the best of all that is that we dont have to wait 30s CDs in order to do this. Our #1 will work too, so we can just spam that AoE nonstop.

So yeah, we’re not the most useful characters out there but we can deal some really nice damage without being noticed by the zerg or almost anyone.

I have a couple of videos about this so just ask for them if interested.

@trunks: let’s get real, you have a hybrid beast master – condi / regen build going on here, which is very interesting. Does it work well for you in PvE/PvP/WvW or only a few of these? Looks fun and aggressive, but I can see there is a trade off in the stun breaker and dodge area. How do you deal with poison damage hindering your regen ability?… I’m guessing the answer should be along the lines of they die first haha :-)

If you’re truly looking for a regen/conditions build for WvW you need to understand how it works. Condition damage won’t do you too well in zerg fights due to the aggregate condition clear + stability in zerg fights, especially if you’re constantly facing organized enemies. The bottom line is power damage will be more useful to you and your allies as a ranger in zerg fights. However, once you find yourself alone… that’s when regen/condi ranger shines.

Axe/torch will not work too well for you given than you have no evades on that weapon, but torch is great overall as a condition-damage weapon.

If you want something power based for WvW then try Pelopidas’s build which is a good option based on healing/shouts. maybe you haven’t been playing pvp long or you just have a bad build. but i am sure i am not the only one when i say stealth doesn’t help has much has you think.i played pvp for 8 hours today only 1 thief killed me on my ranger and i think i am just ok at pvp. you just have to time your skills just right.. this is just has bad has people cry and saying warriors are op and its just not true most are easy to kill

you dont need sigil of force if you play cond regen ranger. either use sigil of geomancy for extra cond damage or sigil of renewal for extra healing.

From what I’ve experienced, Ranger can succeed in every phase of the game (WvW, PvP, PvE) and has a good variety of builds to choose from. I mean, if you ask the strictly meta players, everything sucks outside of the 4 or 5 total builds (across all classes, no less) they deem “acceptable.” I wouldn’t worry about those complaints.

No… This one is totally not right. Power builds are just not made for rangers.
We are forced to stick to conditions, that vary from straight condi to spirits – or we are running BM bunkers.
For PvE – No one runs condition builds, so we are practically forced into Zerker builds. We do fine, but it’s definitely not like we can freely choose from many builds.

OK here is my normal set up for pvp. skill bar i have signet of stone,renewal,and wild with special entangle and con/regen build so traits are 0/0/6/2/6 with settlers amulet and works fantastic for me . i hardly ever die and kill almost anyone. example of play style when i go to take a spot and its going crazy both teams fighting ill use entangled then start using axe and torch then pull out sword and just go to town with evades and walk out most of the time alive. but i saw some you tube videos that used lightning reflexes and rampage i kept signet of renewal and wild for regen and switched the other so i decided to try it out big mistake couldn’t kill anyone died constantly i felt like a noob and gave good rangers a bad name i couldn’t switch back fast enough felt so ashamed any idea what the kittens went wrong ..PS i am so sorry fellow rangers by representing us so badly

i am a con/regen ranger that uses axe/torch and sword war horn i have been putting on 50% Endurance on swap and +5% damage on all other weapons any rangers know if this is a good sigil set up or should i be using something else

wow i am really sorry .didn’t even know it would be possible to be in that many bad teams. if you still pvp your a better man then me i would probably never pvp again

Maybe rabid amulet ? Fairly squishy and no damage if he was using a great sword which is a power weapon.

He also probably didn’t use the healing signet, because even if he was bad he could still passively regen with the signet.
