There are a few key skills on eles you need to interrupt such as water OL, or “Wash the Pain Away!”. Otherwise, they’ll just keep healing away all of your damage.
so a well timed spike trap or a daze would work? ill have to watch one and just see how their rotation goes. i must of waited a few sec at the wrong time and just helped her
i pvped this Elementalist that me or anyone else could not kill we were fighting over home. i put out enough damage that would have killed most 10x over. hell i even said to myself ok just walk away for a few sec and wait for what ever she was useing to run out. nope that didnt work it was nuts at least with warriors i could wait out their skill then take them down but this elementalist seemed to have infinite codi resistance. wasn’t mad we lost the match i was impressed. very effective build for holding point. what ever she was she seemed immortal. that fights going to stick with me just wow…who ever you are if you read this well done and fantastic fight
I know, I know. Not another one of these threads! There’s a small difference here, I’m not complaining about playing against DHs or core guardians, or complaining about their traps or any of their mechanics. This is just my experience playing core guardian in sPvP. I decided to go in on a new guardian, without looking at skills or traits beforehand just to see how strong it is. Hell I really don’t even know what the virtues do except periodically apply burning and aegis.
Jesus does this class carry you hard! Like, insanely hard. I’m not even running the DH traitline (honestly have no idea what it gives you). I have played on mesmer a lot, not too much in PvP because I mainly PvE, but I have several hundred hours in the class (for me, that’s quite a bit). I am certainly not the best mesmer, but I do think I’m pretty good at the class, at least decent. In sPvP I would play mesmer and for me its honestly a bit of a crapshoot if I win matchups or not. Usually I can do pretty good solo, win or stalemate most fights, can usually get away if its going poorly. I really just struggle mainly in the teamfight scenarios.
Well, after all of the talk about guardians I decided to just play one in sPvP and see how playing that class really is. With absolutely no experience playing my guardian (he’s level 23 through tomes only), not even knowing what his skills do, I went into games and was able to perform better than I can on my mesmer by using skills as soon as they are off cooldown. Jesus kittening christ, I don’t even have to try and I am winning matchups on this class. Able to stalemate 1v3s for a decent amount of time, winning almost all of my 1v1s, downing and getting stomps in most of my 1v2s, by simply using skills as they are off cooldown. Hell if I cared enough to take 10 minutes and read through all of the traits and skills and come up with my own build instead of using what the PvP panel pre-selected for me I’m sure I could do even better with guardian. Its beyond ridiculous how hard this class carries people.
I seriously perform better on guardian without ever having played it before and using skills that I don’t know what they do as soon as they are off cooldown than I do on my mesmer that I have put hundreds of hours into.
This isn’t balance ANet. No class should be so much easier to play than others. I would be fine with this if other classes were this braindead and could carry as hard as guardians can, but this is beyond kittening ridiculous. Granted this is bronze division, but still its absolutely ridiculous that 1 class has such a low skill floor that you don’t even have to know what the skills are to be effective with it.
ANet, you really need to remove Guardians ability to carry players. Period
man you are talking about fighting nobodys. on my condi ranger even really good guards have trouble dealing with me guys like you i drops in less then 10 sec. try ranked bud see how long you last playing guard by just button smashing
you can have the top stats in a match and it doesn’t matter if you lost or won and to most people it doesn’t matter at all since its a team effort . so why even bother having them?
it has more to do with player knowledge of rotating and knowing whats going on in the map at any given time. i have been in matches where the other team was better at pvp but we were better at rotating and out smarted them.
Everyone will have a different anecdotal experience, some due to different levels of confirmation bias, however from my experience progressing out of bottom silver kitten gold, the matches do get better. I have slightly over a 60% win ratio, so in general I was placed lower than where I should have been, so I was able to cover for a lot of my teams mistakes. However, on the other side, I was playing a necromancer, so I did have to rely on my teams rotations not being total potatoes.

the matches i love the most is when everyone in both teams are rotating right turns into a great game i do not mind losing in matchs like that because everyone was doing there best
is there zerger teams in every division? i have this dream when i get out of bronze hell that silver and up you will not have teams zerg mid for most of the match giving other team a 2cap among other crazy stuff people do. list is to big to name them all but the zerging stands out to me or am i just in fantasy land and it happens in every division? if the answer is yes then i will just give up on caring about advancing and just play for the gold maybe save up for a twilight

i am by no means legendary or gold for that matter i think i am a solid silver i am stuck in bronze hell. i hit 950 fast then have nothing but losses tell i am back at 700. so i ask you guys this if i can get from 700 to 950 fast does it make any kind of since i would fall back to 700 just has fast? around and around i go. its like my mmr is playing with me david you can get to silver thata boy hit 950 mmr say lmfao you thought you would hit silver and smacks me down and says i was just kidding you can do it over and over again lol. all though i think this is a troll thread
hi my fellow rangers/druids i thought i would goof off with the trapper runes they are fun but i have a question. when i go invisible it seems like i am still getting hit. are they missing and i am just being hit with an aoe that has already been cast or am i not understanding how invisibility works? thank you for any insight you can give
if you have a lot of them they can be a pain but 1v1 for me most of the time they go down quick. shoot them with short bow 1 time to get that block out of the way and throw my torch at him use my sos skill so his trap is usless and run in and finish him with bonfire and sword 3 skill.. had one yesterday whisper me and called me noob and a bunch of names i cant say in forums. i wanted to say to him get good but didnt want to act like a 5 year old

In general, class stacking is an annoying issue when you get tons of powerhouse builds running duplicates. Could Arenanet even fix an issue like this?

Nothing, since 4 out of 9 are always daily, that’s nearly half of them…
i thought it was common knowledge to do pvp daily’s in unranked unless its your main pvp class you play with
i hate the jump pads just doesnt mix well with my skills. going for that killing blow only to sky rocket into the sky when using one of my sword skills used my skill flew backwards and landed on pad. i still like the map even know some of it drives me crazy

i have no problem losing when both teams did their best rotating, grabing beast and buffs done right it turns into a nicely played war. so losing them is not a bad thing. losing when your team does none of the above on the other hand. well lets just say i am caring less and less about ranked
the rewards are nice and all but the people that are in it to pvp care more about a good match not the reward.next season give the pve guys a way to win ascended gear. i know i will get david get good carry your team. kind of hard to do when your team doesn’t understand whats going on or even cares because they know win or lose they will get the ascended gear just a matter of time
I wonder how pvers would feel if pvp/wvw players started joining in raids, using our pvp builds and causing them to fail over and over again? You can be sure we’d be kicked instantly from the group. Think about that for a second pvers, and let that sink in.
maybe next season they can give the pver rewards doing pve things instead of going to pvp to get them
i am in bronze hell at the moment i was almost silver the last few days . then yesterday i dropped into the 700s didn’t think that was possible to drop has much has i have but i am sinking faster and faster. to be honest i like last season more because of how that matches.when i found out how many pve players were starting to pvp for ascended gear made it so i just do not care anymore. i honestly thought i would get better but seems i am getting worse..i thought the mmr was ment to put you in teams with the same skill level but i do not think thats true team mates do things that i would never do and they shouldn’t do. zerg, forget about beasts or buffs fight off point list goes on and on
Normally I just silently read posts and move on, only commenting from time to time.
However, I want to comment on a growing trend that I am seeing.
First off, I would like to ask you, how do you know for certain that someone is a pve player. When it is the intended goal of Anet to get people to balance and play across all game modes, there are very few players that never set foot in WvW or PvE and only play PvP these days. Now, alot of us like me, love PvP and play it the most, as in I play it most every night of the week and only branch out from time to time.
However, you have to stop blaming the quality of your matches on pve players. It might be a bad day for some, it might be something you are doing, it might of been a bad roll of the dice. Any one of these three are the actual reasons, your match was lost.
Secondly, new players are the lifeblood of every game mode. You were new once and I am sure you didnt appreciate being referred to in a derogatory manner due to your newness. Most new players know they are not that great yet, and are in fact trying to learn.
If you want to make a change in how things are matched, how things are managed in PvP my suggestion is you turn this anger and hate to constructive criticism that will actually help minimize blow out matches and improve the quality of matches for new and Vet players. You could also offer to help someone who is a suspected PvEer or New player….
because its true i have talked to a bunch of people that has soon has they found out they could get ascended gear they started pvping and it has gotin worse. next season they need to make it so you only get rewards has you move up like one non repeatable reward in bronze,one in silver and so on the only ones that should be repeatable are the last 2 brackets it will keep pve players away
your attitude in the videos leaves me speechless. i feel bad for your team mates how often you fight off point makes me wonder how many games you have cost people show boating
if we are where we should be in ranked wouldn’t the matches balance out? i feel like a broken level were the bubble should slowly tilt back and forth from the middle but it doesn’t it goes up and down fast. win streaks then lose streaks then win streaks again gets old. i would much rather have a win match lose match over and over. then these streaks makes me feel like im being toyed with
the other day before start a team member said he/she would take home and the rest roam around. sad part is they lesoned and everyone ran around like a chicken with its head cut off
man if they do not pay attention i am kind of happy they dont i had one team member tell are team to report me for being afk. the fact is every time i left home a theif would take it and they would get a two cap and everyone in my team couldnt hadle the theif but me could deal with that theif. thank god he didnt have that spam dodge only theif build i cant put down. anyways he would run the other way every time he saw me. after that jerk reported me for being afk i was pernoid that i would be banned for a few hours tell other people said i was just doing my job
warriors do not need nerfed i play a condi druid and i do fine with most. you just have to time your dodges right .if anything i should have trouble with them because they have alot of codi res. i wait it out then go in for the kill most of the time they are toast
my last ranked match i was at a loss on what i could have done different to get the win. both teams were zerging middle i took home and ran to the other side to cap there home then hurry and run to the middle to help fight then i would look up at map and they would have are home and their home. so i would repeat everything again and the same thing would happen so they had a few points on us for the full match. i gave up talking in team chat always ends with everyone talking like 5 year olds. so my question is is their anything i could have done to fix it. only thing i can think of is just stay at home and hope my team get the most kills
i got you all beat with a first of mine today. a team mate started to cry saying we was trash and i had to look at the score to make sure my eyes were not playing tricks on me we was winning even won the match looked like we was doing a good job rotating to me

Unranked is a cesspool of idiocy. I don’t recommend playing more then a minimum of games on it to keep your skill sharp.
im a condi ranger so i have to fly around a lot so i have to play a lot or i will get rusty. i wish i was the type of guy that could retain the skills without having to play all the time my brain just forgets easily. so its a curse i am stuck having to play all the time to keep it up

well in that case their should be two category’s for pvp. one for the people just goofing off and an other for the hard core pvpers. maybe a permanent ranked. i know their are goof balls their has well but they get left behind after a few matches

i am a condi druid i have to give you long bow users props for using them. i tried and failed at it bad. i come across a good long bow user maybe once or twice a week so its clear its hard to master. but seems well worth it when you do i just do not have the patience for it. took me long enough to get really good with all the flying around i do. long bow seems much harder to master

So I just had a game 3 premades Diamond, with 2 extra solo diamonds vs 1 diamond and 4 rubies all solo. I don’t know how match making decided that this makes sense, but it’s broken beyond any reasonable doubt.
they said matches are put together with people with 15 pips forward or backward so sounds about right
Not in a game that has any kind of matchmaking, and I’m at a loss to understand why these matchups keep happening.
Some of us don’t give a crap about the wings or some title or rank.
I play WvW and PvP in GW2, nothing else.
And with BG rolling over the whole map like an unstoppable force WvW has been unenjoyable and unplayable lately so that just leaves PvP for fun.
Except that I win 1 lose 8, win 3 lose 12, win 2 lose 18.
I’m not asking for wins, I’m asking for enjoyable games at my level and it just isn’t happening and PvP is fast becoming something I hate rather than love.

I don’t understand how you can run a melee build for ranger. Regardless of build and gear, I’m way too squishy to be able to get within attack range of anything.
rabid plus rune of the undead on a melee ranger is nice using a/t s/d its not squishy and plenty of evades
You get matched up against people of your pip range (15 behind and 15 in front). This means that the battle will take place with and against people of the same skill/pip level. Therefore you get a 50/50 chance to win or lose.
If we wouldn’t have had this, you would be either matched up against easier enemies, or much harder enemies. With more idiot teams, or with brilliant teams. That created uneven matches.
Conclusion: When it comes to fairness, this is a good match system.

your analysis of the current state of pvp is very flawed . how is pitting a full sapphire time vs a mix of sapphire ruby and diamond a 50/50 chance? if that doesn’t say match making has a few flaws i do not know what does

just tested it a few matches and its worthless without a good team. its only good if there are team mates around to do the damage for you while you keep them alive a little longer. i was in mid it was a zerg fest on both sides and i was the last one to drop in my team .also tested it out on lord in the mist took me 5 min to kill all the guards and the lord. this build will fail you in sapphire
310 ranked match and i had my first rage quit in middle of match. something i never thought i would do. so its time to call it quits for awhile. i want to say sorry to the team mates. i have no idea how i got that Q in post name
