i had a match earlier in temple and can not rap my head around how we lost i grabbed every buff except the one that pops up at the same time tranquil does. only thing i can think of is i should have capped far after capping home instead of helping mid at start of match. i would have liked to have seen if there was anymore i could have done or did i mess up some where would have helped if i could watch the match, but i do not know how to record gameplay. so i would like to know what you guys use to record gameplay. if there is any map where you can carry a match temple seems like it would be the easiest one to pull it off

considering most people live pay check to pay check and sometimes do not have the extra cash laying around they will wait tell they have the extra cash to blow but if what they wanted is not there any more when they do finally have the cash it will go some where else. so there study is very flawed

There have likely been studies done that show what ANet does actually brings in more money on average. More players who are on the fence buy it because the item isn’t going to be around for a while. Or they may have a character that glider will work for in the future but not now. Whereas if the item was there for forever, they wouldn’t buy it because it’s not going anywhere and will buy it when and if they have a character it will work for.

Plus, it likely gets some players to spend real money on gems instead of just time in game to convert gold to gems.

i just think its strange that on hero panel and you see a list of,mini,gliders and so on and when you go to buy they are not there. if they are not available in gem story they should not show up in your mini,gliders, list

you would make more money if you keep stuff in gem store. i go to buy a tiger mini no where to be found. same thing happen with the angle wing a while ago i come back from a break and nope not there had to wait a few months. all i am saying is when you put stuff in gem store leave it you will make more money. i wonder how long i will have to wait for the tiger mini to pop back up

to be honest i think they should have started everyone in bronze and work their way up the ladder. that way everyone is in the same boat and there wouldn’t be so many posts about people thinking the mmr is not working. the really good pvp players would have zoomed up in a day or two

OK, solve me this riddle. I was at around 1900, won some games vs top 10s even and all. Did some games at late night, would gain 4 lose 20 pts. Then i had never ending loss streak for a week or so, i simply couldn’t win a game, it was constant 1v5 that i even dropped from plat 3 to gold 2. Ok, i guess i am bad and should be in gold right? Well, eventually loss streak ended and i got back to plat (plat 2 atm). MMR and matchmaking working? SSssssureeee.

mmr does not count human judgment. pvp skill wise i can tell i am where i belong. zerging fighting off points forgetting lords,beasts thats all human judgment and map awareness. i guess i should put it like this when i am in a match where both teams are doing everything right on map and it comes down to pvp skill alone i am silver

well that is a little different i have played ranger for 4 years you think i havent played almost every build we have? i changed build to get out of bronze i wish out of silver but i am on my way to gold so no big deal. only thing on it i had never used was trapper runes i played about 20 matches in unranked to get used to them and how i could use them to my advantage

nope never goofed off with them always thought they were probably a gimmick. got bored and tried them out. sure enough their was a nice strategy to them also they were not always in pvp. i used undead or krait runes most of the time just depended on what mood i was in. by the way i quit long bow before they added stealth to it

I’d like to say it’s working, but when you bounce between bronze/silver you end up on a lot of teams where the other 4 players don’t understand what “home” is and eat a 20 rating loss every other match.

yeah i had a match a few hours ago. my team kept forgetting beasts and couldn’t fight off the thief an necro that kept steeling are beast by my self. i was a little surprised i would get that in silver. by the way anyone else been getting four guards in your team? i have had that happen to me three times already

soon has i got to silver it only took a few matchs for me to know for a fact silver is has far has i will ever go this season with my pvp skills were they are at the moment. i have to say i was sure i would get mad if i could not get to gold or higher. oddly enough its refreshing knowing were i stand. i can tell i will bounce back and forth between tier one and tier two silver. ill be just fine watching the bad kitten ranger/druids on youtube they have good sound tracks going most of the time..PS to all the legendary/platinum ranger/druids please make youtube videos of your matchs you guy are a blast to watch go at it

i was wondering what everyone’s thoughts are on this subject. i have seen fights break out on map and team chat over meta and non meta builds. my thinking is play whats fun for you it is a game after all if your not having fun whats the point . i have even seen people that run meta builds and hate it because they are not having fun but use it because its what i guess in their head it is what is expected of them. in any case i would love to know how the majority of the community feels about it

It’s not being bad at playing a damage build. Damage builds require support to be successful. If you’re only solo queuing you don’t know that you’re going to get the support you need. There are a variety of alternatives, and a high sustain build is part of that. They have their weaknesses, too.

There needs to be more than one way to play the game. Just because you don’t like a play style doesn’t mean it’s bad.

ok i can see your point. however at the end of the day when all is said and done isnt the point to have fun? i mean i will be honest here i hate the meta builds for ranger/druid. not only am i not good at it but it bores the hell out of me. i injoy my trapper druid very much. does it work yep doing well with it. could i do even better with a meta build if i took the time to learn how to use it properly very possible. however i can promise you this i wouldn’t have been able to do the 400+ ranked matches i have been in using it i would have quit pvping or quit game all together out of pure boredom a long time ago

i just got into silver a little over a day ago. i wasn’t shocked we still get bad and good players though i think i get in good teams more often even when we lose we just got out played.what was a shock is i thought the last box reword would change thought i would get more shards to finish set. was my thinking wrong that the better you do has you move up rewards would be better or at the very lest change? ether way i find it odd

I’ve been toying around with something like this and it’s fun every once in a while, but I can’t seem to string together any consistency with it.

My biggest stumbling block so far is trying to find the right pets to run. I can’t seem to find the right pairing.

I will say the style is hysterical in team fights as soon as there’s a downed player on either side because people tend to group up for the rez/stomp and that’s when you can really lay it on with entangle, traps and CA abilities.

i find that the bristalback pet works very well with short bow and wolf to get me out of a jam. one thing i did change on build was druid line i have it at 1-1-3 now. i just use short bow for perm swiftness and another thing the reason i have poison and not shared anguish is because my timing is horrible with thief dodge spammers so short bow 1 gets 4 codis on them and they have to run away or die now

well this is the only mmo i have played that isnt pay to win so that is a major plus. played a Korean mmo for the longest time but it was a money pit if you wanted to do pvp. seeing these threads in gw2 forums talking about class op have no clue what over powered really is in tell they play a Korean mmo . the no pay to win and the endless build options you can make it stand out. having HoT isnt pay to win. i know a f2p guy that is tearing it up in ranked with a signet warrior build from a few years ago

You’re using a power DH build, but some of your choices can be improved:

1) Replace Radiance for Virtues (1,2,3 or 2,2,3).
2) Replace your elite; Renewed Focus is way better than Dragon’s Maw., specially in the sutain department in which seems that you’re struggling with.
3) In the DH traitline replace Hunter’s Fortification by Heavy Light. A knockback each 10 s which also provides 6 s of balance is way bettern than HF: you alreday have Ray of Judgement, Contemplation of Purity and Absolute Resolution to cover that front.
4) In the DH traitline replace Hunter’s Determination by Bulkwark; a random proc that interrupts each 60 s can’t compete with 2 extra seconds of block which also are enhanced in a +33% radious and which (due Renewed Focius elite) can be used two times in 72 seconds. That means 6 seconds of block + 2 seconds of invulnerability + 6 seconds of block to spam in a row (without even counting the focus) which is a MASSIVE diference compared to your current build (4 seconds of block each 72 s).
5) Replace your Eagle runes by either Pack (better for combat) or Traveller (much better mobility).
6) I do use Air sigil + Force in scepter and focus and always Generosity in the bow (oftenly pairted with Hydromancy).

I would also suggest you to try the condition builds; burn Guard/DH is strong and fun.

First op sorry to say this but you might’ve been in bronze because of this build. I totally get playing stuff that’d fun for you (this is a videogame after all some peeps forget that) even so this build is kinda terrible man.
First off you have no stun breaks,

second celestial form when your not spec for healing is still fantastic for a full cleanse of which you have almost none. Just pop in and out, however a good rotation for celestial form is 2,3, 4 pop ur mushroom (member it cleanses too might take of a pesky poison that got applied after the fact) blast it for retal, it’s also an aoe daze so it’s great for taking pressure of of you or interrupting rez stomps, followed by 4 even with the healing nerf it still works. Also celestial forms skill 5 can be a game changer if used correctly the damage is eh but it’s pluses cripple, slow, and finally imbolbs, fantastic for helping lock people down in aoes, I love using it when I see a necro bomb enemy downs, played right and you can help reset a team.

Personally I would drop the poison trap for flame trap if your dead set on trap runes, first getting the burns out there and is were you can get some real damage, it’s a short CD (12secs) which also means you can stealth more.

Also I’d take shared anguish instead of the poison when your healths up cause you need stunbreaks.

I’d also take troll urgent over healing trap and ws reduction trait line for more cleanses lower cds and also is an awesome way to regen celestial form, the downside is you have to pop it as soon as you feel your going to get pressured.

If your dead set on trapper ranger your going to need to hug a good support or 1v1 oner, because of ancient seeds druid have amazing synergy with warriors. Stun lock fools for days.

And to anyone this thread you take druid form for the amazing major traits, I love playing base ranger and do quite often for duels and solo roaming, but the major traits in druid form are just so essential to contributing to your team in PvP and anything bigger than a 2v2 in wvw.

First off druidac clearity is a FULL cleanse every 15 secs if you regeneration celestial form right in the Condi meta not only do you have to cleanse from 1 person but from multiple people and cleanse a lot at once.

Second off celestial shadow omg it’s a short instant shadow refuge on demand that gives super speed to allies too!! If I got a dollar for every time a teammate said ty so much for the stealth rez or getting them out of kittening dodge, I’d buy a net and have them switch honed axes with empathic bond (and make it give Condi damage instead of ferocity)

Thirdly the ancient seeds! As a ranger period, being able to effectively cc and lock down your target is life, not only is it good against certain classes in 1v1s, it has sooooo much synergy with teammates as they cc and you just love tap your enemy’s for lockdown.

Also the skills in celestial form are actually really really useful even if your not a healer, aoe daze? Check moving water field that teammates can blast or you can if your running clarion bond and swap pets check, pulsing ape cripple slow and an ape imolb that can give you stab is you weapon stow. Check

Looks dope as kitten check kittening mate. (Minds me of the night crawler deer god from princess monoke)

hmm interesting considering i couldn’t get past 850 before i used this build got from 850- 1150 in less then 2 days i like it and im zooming up. so to each their own if you do not like it thats fine works great for me

i know it is not a big deal to a lot of you but i had to come and say i did it im out of bronze hell!!!!!!!!!!! i wish i had used the trapper build i am using now from the start wouldn’t have taken over 400 games lol..yep went from 850 to silver in 2 days by using the build.. so kitten happy all the work payed off

Every viable build this meta: no

But I do agree every class can kite, even with melee weapons.
There are objects near most points to be used to LoS and kite (sometimes jumping on hidden steps to get onto a ledge, like in: Foefire, Temple, Kyhlo, ..)

question why do so many people go for the meta builds? they become meta because players experiment with builds. wish more people would just experiment there are other builds people use and do fantastic

I normally listen to heavy metal or trance, the difference between no music and music in pvp is like night and day, With music I can play 10 matches straight easily, without its 1-2.

look at my first post that is the answer to warriors guess who told me to kite dodge kite and dodge some more tell his skill is over and on cd a warrior with this sort of build and its the best advise i have got and it works timing is everything. they are not op just seems that way.

lmfao you joking right pets have already been nerfed. go to the ranger forum dude a lot of rangers find them useless. i love these nerf threads because two things are never considered 1. they never bother thinking its their build that is the problem or 2. it might just be your skill that is the problem. every single class and build has their pros and cons so pick your poison. anyone crying nerf should have to post their build and a video of them pvping

hi warriors i am a trapper druid so not normally here. i had a match yesterday with two warriors fighting over meta builds for the full match in chat it was bad. are warrior meta builds that big of a deal for you guys? because i have never got that kind of hate. only time i ever got crap was when my team was losing and i asked are team to please watch map and rotate and a guy said yeah right advice coming from a guy using a short bow.but this match was weird i think the warrior on my team this match had a full signet build and the warrior on other team had a meta build. we won seemed like are warrior did a good job. was the guy right about meta builds being important or was he just crying because his team lost……ps i am very impressed with some of you guys… kitten near immortal the good ones are a blast to pvp

i am sure i am not the only one that has music playing while in a pvp match to pump you up or just flat out make you make feel like a bad kitten . i have lots of brand x ,300 sound track playing .then the other day i was watching some ranger/druid videos on youtube to maybe get some tips to help me out and they had Fall Out Boy – Immortals playing thought i would try it out it pumped me up and even soften the blow when i lose. so it got me wondering what pvp music you got playing when in matches. so what do you guys have going when pvping?

SOTW can help you reg AF which is hard without a staff, also you invest in piercing shots for SB so stability and 8 sec of unblockable can be nice for some pressure. With DC and CS you’ll have much better time vs thieves and rangers, you struggle now because you dont have stun breaks nor stability, and your heal is your only on demand condi clear. Maybe i’m wrong , have little experience with traps builds but i think it will be better.

Try to go DC-CS, and change SoS to SOTW, this will give you more survivability and 8 sec of unblockbale with SB. just use camera rotate SB 3 for prema swiftness.

just wondering but why do you think SOTW is better to have then SoS? seems like without SoS thief,warrior,longbow ranger would be much harder to deal with

Well he either decided it’s best to get the hell out of there since he just blew all of his cooldowns, or he decided you all must be extremely new since 2 of you went down so easily to 1 condi bomb and he decided to be merciful.

bad or nonexistent rotation makes my pvp experience bad. if we have good rotation i do not mind losing. every class has their annoying skills so i have no problem with skills
