since when is dodging and using evasion skills hacking? i went to go get the other teams treb and started fighting a warrior i killed him and he says in map chat nice hacks and that he reported me because he couldn’t target me. is this sort of thing happening to anyone else?should i be worried?

It’s a solid build, you should definetly use condition duration food instead though and personally I would prefer a flame trap aswell if using balthazar runes and I would also want Strength of the pack with resounding timber.

the spike trap is just there for the knock down for a guaranteed entangled bonfire combo

You could even swap to Carrion amulet, since you have no on-crit effects, be more direct damage also. I would swap the lynx to a Hawk so you can spam Wilting Strike, though.

i thought about it but with that amulet i lose lots of toughness i want to be sort of tanky

i was wondering if anyone could tell me how and what to use to record game footage.because i just have to record some of the silliness that goes on in pvp.i was just in the coolest and oddest match i have ever been in. started off everyone fighting on point other team was even ahead by 100 points.i noticed for some reason my team and the other team were all fighting off points in map so i capped all 3 by myself a few times lol i didn’t know whether to laugh or cry

i have seen a rise in rangers in pvp since last patch

my main is a melee ranger.i got bored so i thought i would roll a warrior. very bad idea lol i was trying to set up a tank had 20k hp 3.7k armor and 2k power i died in less then 20 sec at that practice lord fight in the mist. i thought it would be a peace of cake because on my ranger i beat that practice lord with out any trouble. so i have to give the good warriors your props.cya in game

what are the things that you guys have seen that caused your team to lose match?i have seen some off the wall stuff one time i was defending a point 1vs3 i knew i would lose just trying to hold point has long has i could.i look down at map and see the other team have two capped first thing that comes to my mind how is it even possible i am fighting three of them.. they shouldn’t have two capped come to find out my team were fighting off points the entire time.and of course there’s always the one where one team is zerging around orb while the other team has two to three points capped. i would like to hear your war story’s

i hardly ever see another melee ranger in pvp.i think the last time was a few months ago.i bumped into one today and got beat pretty badly.the fact i was running a build i was experimenting with probably didn’t help much. i think she/he was using some sort of trapper build but was extremely strong and they used two axes witch i thought was weird never seen a melee ranger run two axes.does anyone know of a melee build like this?i didn’t think it could be done and survive the entire match

the reason i am asking is because they can stack a lot faster then condition removal skills can really make a difference. a good example of this is i had every condition removal skill i had working.then a necro and a Mesmer come along.they hit me with tons of conditions i used my skills to remove them only to have a lot more on me in less then a sec. and i am not talking about a few cons on me i am talking alot. lol just seems like these removal skills are a waist of time

Sorry mate, I didn’t mean offense, but for me it is just so bad, although I’m pretty pedantic about that sort of thing.

Ranger is easy to pick up, but very hard to master as we have few get-out-of-jail-free cards like the most played meta classes, so there is less room for error. Ranger is definitely handicapped in this regard, but a good player can do well with it, if you enjoy playing Ranger style, stick to it. Also, several other classes are not balanced at all right now and makes it so that Ranger is further behind.

i really hope you guys tell me its all in my head and i just need to get better.but it seems like some of are skills just don’t cut it. are pets drop way to fast are heals just don’t seem to cut it and are con removal kinda sucks but i have a feeling con removal sucks on must classes since they stack so fast.if i go up against a team that has nothing but necros,mes and eles i feel like its a waist of time because know matter what build i run it seems like instant death.when i say are heals don’t cut it i mean that 7k hp can be one shot so that’s a waist or the troll one even if you run a cliric build that 1k+ a sec seems like it nothing.now if the party is a mix of mostly other classes these problems just don’t happen to me at lest. most of the time with a warrior i can just out tank him and kill him same with thief.i don’t know whats going on but its very frustrating when i feel like i am useless.. well please let me know what your thoughts are on this

i feel like such a newbie to game even know i have been playing ranger since launch. i started a new ranger yes i have 3 now what can i say its my fav class .just have different ones for looks. so i was in a hurry to start pvping so i wasn’t paying to much attention to what traits i had on. started fighting and all the sudden i start swinging my sword super fast thought my game was glitching out. thought it was cool how fast i was killing though. so i look in my traits and i had clicked quickness on pet swap instead of picking taunt like i always do never picked the other one before but omg it made a difference so glad i messed up on my normal trait settings. just wanted to share my stupidity with my fellow rangers all though this time it was a good kind of stupid lol

i was wondering if anyone knows what are new staff weapon will be like.will it be like a fighting staff or just another staff to cast spells like ele and guard?

i am a full time pvper now because well pve just got boring to be honest. the builds i have been using are any where from a Regen con builds with tons of toughness to a full on cleric builds they were working fantastic well not anymore. soon has some of these ele and mes get in the mix its over real fast. but i am afraid of using a ranger power build for the fact that with the builds i have been using i can not just run but walk to not all but most bow power ranger face tank the arrows and kill them quick for there lack of def so how can a power build work? i am at the point of thinking of quieting game sucks to since i cant get my money back from the pre buying the expansion since its not considered a pre order.there has to be some sort of build that can counter well for the lack of be better term what seems like some hard core over powered classes and to be honest i real don’t like playing the other classes tried just not my thing. i will try any build you guys throw at me for a few hours each to see what works thank you in advance

I think you should replace NM with Skrimishing and take HS as a heal. With your amulet running without a good regen source is just a crime+ its condi removal and lower CD on traps. Also change poison trap to fire trap and put sigil of torment on weapons, you can experiment with poison master if you think you have enough condi removal.
Also, unless you’r expert with dog F2 cancellation, go with eagle over cat for the blind spam. Something like this :

been playing a ranger a little over a year now and i never even bothered with the traps in pvp.today i got board and decided to try them out i haven’t had so much fun in game in a long time .put the spikes right next to poison trap popped entangled and torch 2 skill instant death lol and it was also fun putting spiked down has your being chased and watch them fall over has you get away. now i have to find a good trapper build if anyone knows of a good trapper pvp build let me know

not at all just an example since the mes is on the top list for people wanting nerfs you take a melee zerker up against a long range zerker mes odds are the melee is going to die but on the flip side a melee tank has a real chance of taking the zeker mes damage long enough to get close and kill the mes in a few sec i guess my point is since there is so many zerkers out there can they really scream nerf instead of taking a look at there own build . not trying to be mean about it just wondering if that is the case or not

I was going up against 2 zerker warriors at once because I dont know how to tactics and they killed me. In a matter of seconds.

I’m a thief with 12k HP and 2k armor, if two warriors even only stare at me I drop, but this should not be allowed.

well your biggest mistake is trying to kill 2 zerkers with a dps build one good tank can easily kill two zerkers because they are glass.

i noticed people keep saying no ranger in teams because they are bad. and i think this has to be some kind of joke. because i don’t see it that way at all.unless i am missing something.my builds for some reason are not popular on ranger forums at all but they are very effective .i guess because most care about power more then holding points or capping but i am sure there are power builds that work for other people . i run a settler build and a cleric build both have great support because i have my traits so any team member by me has Permanent Regen and swiftness thanks to guard that has a short cool down war horn gives a power boost.also i can get downed players up faster then anyone.when i am on a good team when they notice a few of the other team are trying to kill me will send a few to cap the other points and send 1 or 2 people to come help me finish off the other players so thats 2 capped for a few min when they should have just blown me offor run in the middle of a huge fight where my team mates are in trouble and dodge roll and pop entangled behind them do i die sometimes sure when i am getting hit with tons of stacks of conditions and didn’t dodge out of the way on time but to i live through 1v3 sometimes of course.i will agree though that some rangers are traited so there is no support just traited for them self . i practice for hours every day to get better .thinking about the mistakes i made and how to avoid doing it again i have a habit of getting to excited and popping skills at wrong time working on that by the way lol and remembering the things i have done right. so to be honest it hurts knowing that some people think its just a waist of time and in the end i will never get anywhere because of the hate for the ranger.. there i feel better got that off my chest

You’ll always find players who are better than you, and players who are worse. As long as you consciously try to improve, you’ll get better. You should try to:

1) Duel (Random said it already)
2) Play in a team from time to time, even just a group of noob friends
3) Play different builds, and in particular to play popular builds on other professions, to know what combos you must look for but especially to be familiar with the CDs.

i would like to know how to tell if i am a good or bad player.i am doing my best to be a great ranger. i would love to be on a team someday. but things go to extremes in matches most of the time.here is an example the other day i was capping tower and a mes,warrior and a thief tried to kill me i killed all 3 while there treb was hitting me and they kept coming back and they died every time but then another time a thief and a mes beat me in a few sec. so its hard to tell if i am just average pvper fighting bad players or if i am good just fighting better players. would love your guys input on this thank you in advance for your answers

i was just wondering why there is no condition resistance stat in are attributes every game like this i have played has it.well called magic resistance in other games. food doesn’t really count because you cant use it in pvp and theirs a huge difference between lets say -10% duration on a rune and lets say 10% poison resistance at lest in my mind .just thought i would ask find in weird it isn’t in here.because some of the things i have seen in pvp just blow my mind watching some drop like a fly in less then a sec hell its happens to me at times unless condi removal is your substitute for that stat and speaking of that is condi removal better depending on your class but then again i have seen tank warriors drop just has fast and i dont know about anyone else but i would rather have % of resistance in my attributes rather being able to remove a condi just to have it put on me again by some one else in less then a sec by someone and cant do anything about it because of a cool down because one is blind luck that it doesn’t happen before a cool down and the other you know where you stand at all times

i am not sure how it would work but experienced pvpers need to be separate from the others.been in to many teams were one team zergs around the orb while the others has all 3 capped or one team goes for lord while the others has all 3 capped by the time lord is dead its to late to even catch up. then sometimes you got players killing eachother off point and not even trying to cap

i love the new strong hold map but have a question. will there be more new pvp maps or just that one?because it would be great if you had more maps that good

like the topic says.most of the time with my build i do fantastic but sometimes i will come across two necros or two mes or two ele sometime one of each at a time and i go down what seems like 2 sec. seems like there are tons of conditions that get stacked so fast cant get them off fast enough anyone have a good con defense .some times i get so mad that i wish that so many con classes cant be in the same team lol
