Condis unfair advantage blob fights

I love these topics. EVERY MMO I have ever played in a setup like this or similar to this condi rules in groups. I think a lot of power (I could be wrong) builds run glass cannons KNOWING they are and get downed by condi and then kitten. I just don’t get it. NOT saying EVERY MMO is like this just most of ones I played.

Yes I have a condi too that’s what I run in zergs though I have been more of a roamer as of late. I remember all the power build gripes and now it’s condis turn.

Funny I ran into three enemies at a camp with 3 others beside myself. Enemy is a condi mesmer, condi necro and a ranger. WE had a shot I survived the onslaught of condis for a minute or so and realized everyone else bailed on me. I asked WTF… “we’re here for our dailies…” lol. But the jist of it was surviving so long against the condis because I BUILT for it….sigh.

Get off the META and learn to build better for the current power struggle.

Nice video I have watched it twice. Glad to see MY thief not one punished by you.

On the Rev note I am currently working on a condi build. I like to roam but power build I fail so miserably. SO I decided to covert armor for condi with some health and sustain. Don’t really want to list build as of yet because I am still tweaking but so far so good in PvE test runs and now testing in WvW playground.

I chose to do this test run to become less bored lol. Rev can be difficult to master CORRECTLY and this is my third 80 Rev as the previous two were excommunicated to hell due to frustrations.

I know people scream of condi cancer but I am still old school if you don’t have your class mastered you will be the subject of many deaths regardless of the builds you are up against.

Did we really need another thread about this? Especially one with such dubious opinions and a distinct lack of facts…

It is sad

I played for about 45 minutes yesterday maybe a little less and zero pips. Didn’t have time to figure a lot out but I noticed decay is a little too high…ok…much too high. How about keeping the “can’t switch maps” to get the out-numbed. That’s where most complaints came from.

The decay comes from the us who see someone take a couple camps and then ALT-TAB out and collect free pips. There kitten many ways to fix but also so many ways to bypass the fix so I think they went with the obvious gotta kill kitten to get rewards.

All in all I would agree that it hurts the roaming scouts who may periodically hit a few guards or camps to keep participation up until decay starts to diminish. What this decay does now is force people to blob and force those who roam, defend and scout to wishing there was another way.

Given up? Nah..never had hopes for it as I just love to WvW. But I don’t WvW for hours on end where I think I need to be rewarded. I get enough gold and drops to crush into mats that fund other toons that I raise to 80 then drop into the recycle bin.

I think the rewards are literally for those that WvW and nothing else. As I have stated in a previous post I think ANET realized with the PvP reward debacle that if PvE was going for the WvW reward they are going to have to commit and not just be spoon fed a freebie.

30s? Thats very sluggish, you need to up your game. Most thieves will run away after they realize they cant kill something in 2 seconds because that might actually be something dangerous.

HA!… I at least try. There are times 2s isn’t a bad idea but by 3s I realize it but I am downed :P

I am a fairly balls to the wall teef. I only run during a fight when either:

1.) I have 20 stacks of condis on me (usually thanks to a lucky condi bomb from a reaper)

2.) If I want to kite the opponent while I wait for certain CD’s to recharge

3.) If I need a moment to re-think my strat vs the opponent, where then I go back and change something up.

Even if the fight lasts more than 3 seconds, 99% of my fights i go all in until someone dies.

I am built more for some hard power damage quickly with a little toughness. If I can’t get them down within 20 to 30 seconds I already know I am up against a veteran who knows how to counter or condi cancer is getting to me So I know when to fight and when to leave. So many times I have taken down a necro and then get downed from the condi and then the race is on who can kill with downed skills first. lol

Im more Marauder/Valk set up myself. I hear ya tho about if a fight lasts more than 20-30s, either im bad or they are good lol. I recently found a VoD clip on my twitch (and clipped it..cause…ya know…science) where i was in a 2 minute fight vs a scrapper. Most thieves would have bailed, however like I said, im all in until someone dies (that and he was a kitten during other encounters…laughing/siege throwing whenever he caught me while outnumbering me).

First time I caught him in a 1v1 and it was that one (saw him again and 1v1 fight went a lot quicker…he wasn’t as good then). There isn’t a class I wont fight as I have beaten many of them all (feels good when you lose so many times you actually learn little tricks)

That being said, we (Thieves) have many counters. Condi sustain, ranged pressure, AoE, reflect (for most thieves) and other bursty builds. If we didnt have the stealth we do, or the mobility, we would still be almost free kills. Its an easy class to pick up, but not as much to do damage and survive where we are very squishy…

Granted I still think Bandits Defence needs a nerf/balancing as it needs it (and this coming from a teef)

Since I am not really looking for a fight when playing my thief my secondary skills are set up mainly to poof in case of trouble. If one enemy comes into a camp to try and defend I will do my best to fight to the death. If two or more I may taunt them for a while just to see what I am up against.

I don’t think thief is that “easy” to pick up. Maybe in PvE mindless 111111 but I have learned so much from other thieves, videos and guides that the the thief can be pretty daunting to play. We don’t have the ability to track mouse pointer to secondary skills because when you look back you are downed so key binding (especially a gaming mouse) is important. PLUS I am not as young as I once was…lol

Seriously, I don’t like thieves either but go play one.
Excellent ones are op,
All the rest get deleted,
There are so many bad thieves I could make a montage of me killing them with my hammer rev while solo roaming and even 1vX.

There are serious thieves and then there are ones like me or the one in the video. Personally I run a power P/P / Staff for roaming for dailies or when the queues are too long for me to get into. It is perfect for a small group or flipping camps and such. I could switch things up and be better 1 v 1 but I hit the target and if the fight is longer than 30 seconds then I poof and run.

Other than that I pop on my mesmer or necro for serious runs. condi thieves can own but against more than one don’t have the ability to survive other than dodge and run and come back to keep trying. Most times they are down.

I think many complaints come from the 1 v 1 crowd. Just my opinion. My necro build survives well against bth and win some lose some. Have to play a thief to know how to counter a thief.

I admit in PvP I am not that great but I hold my own and help the team but the toxic nature of PvP with the AFK coupled with those who just DC make it pointless to even try any more. So I stopped. Not even dailies any more.

PiP speed doesn't matter

It is still interesting to see the PiP threads. WvW has really never been about rewards when talking with the old timers. YES the rewards are here that other areas of the game enjoyed WvW’rs wanted some rewards to be inline with other ascended rewards.

Except this thread started off from the perspective of someone who doesn’t have to struggle so much to max out. If you look at the time required to max out each week, you’ll see that for someone that normally plays 2-3 hours a day, there is no huge difference between them earning 6 pips or 17 pips per tick, they will still hit the cap each week. However, the time requirement increases exponentially below 6 pips, and that is what many have pointed out, that the pip rate should be more linear. Increasing base pips for server placement, for example, even by 1 pip would make a huge difference for those at the bottom.

Here’s a handy chart of hours per week vs. pips per tick based on the values from Limodriver’s table:

Sometimes I am not clear because I get off topic lol. The point is there IS a fixed cap and the cap is GOOD because those who want the rewards or just learn to love WvW will stay and those who think “screw this” will leave.

So IF someone can cap out in 24 hours because they can play so much… get more PiPs than most for various reasons such as rank…outnumbered and such then the rewards are gotten fast…they leave and servers are dead again.

It is still interesting to see the PiP threads. WvW has really never been about rewards when talking with the old timers. YES the rewards are here that other areas of the game enjoyed WvW’rs wanted some rewards to be inline with other ascended rewards. They are now here but will take a great deal of time to get. Why? Well let’s go back to PvP when the ascended was easy to get in S5 then the rewards were nerfed for S6 and the population dropped.

IMO I believe ANET saw this as an opportunity to keep WvW populated by using a harder reward system and weeding out those who will get bored. Has it worked? I think so as the queue times have dropped significantly from patch release until now. I generally do BLs because at the time I play, SMC is out of reach for me even at 50 in queue. I am good with that as I find enough people to run with and we do our thing and roll.

I have yet to reach a diamond box and could care less. there are days I play an hour and times when I run 5 or 6. What I hope for is some map revamping eventually.

The fact that its blob vs blob, aka high amount of players on both sides is fine. That is what this game mode is meant to be.

What is not OK is how its played, aka all the boonshare, all the “be tight as possible”. Aka the more people stack and more tightly they move, the harder they are to kill. Sometimes to so absurd level that they are almost untouchable (if they run good setup on all parties and enemy does not have tons of boon corrupt).

This is what I would change. Make offensive skills more anti-blob. Make the boms, veils, symbols deal more damage to the center, punishing tightly stacked groups more. OR skills with up to 50 targets radius 180-240 dealing more damage to its center the more targets are being hit.

Skills like that that would break the stacking playstyle.

Isn’t the whole purpose of boon share is so you do not die? Blob vs blob who wins? The winner is the one who doesn’t get disoriented and sticks together. Down a commander or make the group disperse is the clear winner in most cases.

I notice also that the blob gets chased but no one finishes off the downed sometimes. I have seen 25 take out 35+ all because they do not get in tight. Just my opinion.

Remember… there is no monthly fee. You do not have to buy expansions. You don’t have to buy Gems. Gemstore is how the employees get paid…you get updates and so forth BUT you don’t really have to pay a dime if you don’t want to.

I just hop onto a BL until my EB queue pops if there is one.

I think this is spot on. I used to go onto the BL for boring fast dailies then over to SMC where the action was but BL has become so much fun for me that if I don’t get to SMC it doesn’t matter. There is action all over now instead of one map.

Pre-patch: WvW is ignored. We have no cool shinies. There is hardly anyone to kill. It’s boring when there is nothing to flip. There are only 2 or 3 good servers….

Post-patch: It takes too long to get cool shinies. There are too many people in the queue. I keep getting ganked. Servers have too many people. Why can’t we hold onto our lands….

Close? Be careful what you ask for. Personally being about a 75% WvW’r i enjoy it more than ever but eh…. that’s just me.

Mag tactics

Let’s be real and honest here, roaming has been garbage on all servers, if it isn’t the thief gank squad it’s the condi cancer, this isn’t limited to one server. If you want to complain about mag you might want to first look at your own specs, since even on reset night when every map is queued on every server, and the two servers they are facing were still rolling over in one pushes except for like BMO. It’s demoralizing when your organized pug zergs can’t even stand up for 30s in a fight, that’s why people leave.

I like these points here. I run power thief on Mag and roam a bit everyday ALONE mainly to get dailies out of the way before joining up on commanders to finish dailies and then get to pipping.

Now being on mag and for the the past few months I run into combos of thief or two plus usually a ranger or DH and they gank or what have you the roamers. It’s part of the game. Know your build, build for the gank or like in my case I don’t stand there taking a whooping when I know the outcome is going to be for me to re-spawn.

I hear so much trash talk of Mag but the kitten people that raise complaints of someone doing this or that is the same thing being done on other servers. You deal or you quit.

Personally since I have built in protections or escapes on my thief and necro for the “condi cancer” I say quit using meta and tweak yourself for the problem instead of kittening about it. If you’re pro then be pro or keep dying. Can’t survive the gank fest in roaming…get someone to run with you and gank them back.

I run a Thief with no issues. You have to know your role and what to do. P/P with staff and power build I have no issues in any game mode of WvW. I prefer to run Necro zerging but with current queue depths just no chance unless I am off peak time on switching and hoping to get back in.

Now, if the commander kicked you because you’re deaf, then I’d be saying I hoped you reported him and he’ll get his karma from ANet. But he didn’t. He kicked from the squad because you were not complying with the requirements for the squad. He didn’t want to have to worry about remembering the one exception out of many on the squad.

Though I have made statements of hearing issues I have never and I stress NEVER been insulted when I have spoken up about it. Though there are various ranges of saltiness in the game I think for the most part people are respective when people raise general concerns like this.

Even if I were to to join TS it is pointless running background processes I am not using and either I am in the group or not. No point in whining about it and I get along just fine. They can’t stop you from running with them regardless they can only kick from squad. So no worries from me.

Guys. The player is DEAF. They can’t hear what you’re saying in TS. TS will do NOTHING for them. Stop behaving like brainwashed cultists.

I may sympathize with those reasons, but sympathy =/= obligation.

The game play is not that hard to decipher without voice comms. Smash guards, smash people, take towers, kill everything in between. Rinse repeat. THOUGH I will give you it makes it easier for the commander to dole out his/her orders and those in TS. Even though I think it is a needed in game it is not a necessity.

I think people miss the whole point of what a guild is and what it SHOULD be. You want the shinies you need many people to contribute. Handing out gold or taxing the players will lead to the demise of the guild system.

I contribute when I can to my two guilds but it takes a mass to contribute enough to be top level. PvE guild is max level pretty cool stuffs while WvW guild is still building, small but not nearly enough people to get to higher levels yet no one complains.

Let me be clear lol. I am not deaf I have a certain hearing loss that does not allow me to hear at certain levels. I can use TS but volume levels need to be to high that everyone in the house would go nuts. I have tried earbuds, muffs and what have you but it is too cumbersome and NOT recommended due to volume that is needed. If no one is home I will use it but rarely is that the case and so I play without TS. If it is needed I move along as there are always others to run with and I am not going to whine out there about it as my issues doesn’t need to be in the game and I deal with it.

Some of the worst commanders people complain about actually are some of the better commanders I run with with no issue. I apologize this has taken over the OP so let’s get back to the topic. TS or other software like it need to be in game without a doubt. Not everyone will use it because they don’t want to, can’t or for whatever reason. The more in TS the less death by typing happens. Most commanders I run with I am familiar with their path and how they do things so I cope with it all by following the pin.

I am a 100% supporter of voice communication in games where player cooperation is key, such as in GW2 WvW. I can imagine the hilarity that would ensue if a football team never talked to each other during a game, or if a LoL team couldn’t hear call outs, or if you’re office staff never talked with each other to land that big client.

I don’t use a mic so I don’t talk but it is a huge help to hear what the Commander is saying. It’s amazingly obvious how successful a team is that is in TS versus one that isn’t.

If you find another TS user to be abrasive or distracting, mute them and you never have to listen to them again. If someone is being hateful, you are well within your right to ask them to stop (hey just like real life!) and I would even encourage you to bring issues to the TS Admins and they can permanently ban someone who is harassing other players or being hateful. Most (maybe all?) of the TS Admins I know would do that.

Nobody sane will get on your case for not hearing things perfectly. Not that they would know, or have a right to know anyways. There are many people that just sit in the channel without a mic and generally that’s all most people look for— nobody’s gonna watching you specifically. Typically an organized group also has visual aids such as markers to go along with the commanding.

Honestly, if you watch videos that contain comms, you will notice it’s not really necessary to actually comprehend most of it to know what to do. Essentially, it’s about getting more information, not tuning into the dictatorship.

I am not hearing impaired but am incredibly terrible at following verbal instructions.

Describe sane? lol. I have in the past explained why I cannot get into TS and with all the saltiness I have never been salted on about it which gives me hope for humanity.

Learning whats its for after this patch is pretty pointless. I’ve seen people cry about how garri is under attack, they need help. Well just tell the enemy to wait for an hour while I clear this 50+ man queue, np.

Yeah I never thought of it that way. Team chat becomes uses when everything is queued up.

2. Request for TS is up but my case with hearing difficulties I never join TS and never get flamed about it. Still don’t join TS and still never get hawked about it. Follow the pin…how hard can it be?

3. I run wither Necro or Thief and testing a Rev and generally have no issues roaming or zerg except Thief sometimes gets kicked from zerg more often now than before. Generally, I don’t zerg much with Thief but when I do it’s P/P and Staff. Staff to stomp a few then back out and P/P to pick off the injured or down. Other than that I know I don’t bring much to a zerg with it so kind of expected.

4. Thought PiPs would be slow to get for a week for loyalty but nah…it’s fine. Just gotta know how to get them. Easy 7 each tic on outnumbered off time and easy 5’s if you can get a good zerg going other times. 100 a week…not difficult.

5. Rewards? Eh…not there for them and realize why ANET has set the goal high after the easy asc gear debacle a couple of PvP seasons ago. Now people saw easy in the past and want easy now. Those who want it will stay and get better or leave. The drops are good to fund my ever ongoing battle to tweak gear or make some gold.

6. I love the constant back and forth caps. I have seen SMC flip more times in a few hours than I have before.

7. Queues are high around daily reset time (PvE) and I have found flipping in other maps to be much better, challenging and more fun than before.

8. Mind you I am only 244 rank and been plugging away for 5 months or so and enjoying WvW even more. I can’t however just WvW. I still do some PvE stuffs. I think the true PvE’rs who have come to WvW for the most part are learning that the PvE build and gear they have just isn’t going to work are fixing themselves.

9. These are just my opinions and nothing more. Others will see this differently and others will agree. Overall I think it was one of the better thought out processes coming out.

This is why you can have exclusion without having meters. See old dungeon meta where condi was a joke and necro’s complained about Ice-Bow being burst and not DPS.

There clearly is a place for the tool as Anet has both condoned them and added one in game for the players benefit.

Tools help you improve, i get that you really don’t like that but without testing and refining and having the proper analytical tools one cannot expect to properly measure improvement.

Wait…question is this tool for personal use or can you see others in party and such? Just curious. Persoanl use…yeah I can see it to better yourself. Group use? Nah…causes elitism and locks players out which ANET SAID they don’t ever want to do. I use no and have never used addons in this game and I choose not to.

With the introduction of dps meter’s it is apparent that player versatility is narrowing, i.e. if you see a thief running dual pistols you immediately know they bring little to the table whatever game mode they are playing (pve/wvw/pvp).

I personally like dps meters though the gap between meta and “play the way you like” is a substantially large gap (not because people run nomads vs berserkers) it is simply that some weapon sets perform subpar.

In a perfect world I would like to see that, head to head each weapon set and weapon combination is viable either due to direct damage output, additional utility, cc, etc…

And this is why I dislike players like you. You know all. DPS meters rule and you want everyone to play a cookie-cutter build to max DPS to your standards. I play a power staff Thief build and MOSTLY P/P secondary in both WvW 1st and PvE 2nd. I can take someone down fairly quickly. BUT I know also when to run and who not to take on 1v1 and then go to forums and ask for nerfs because I suck against a certain build? There is a better build out there but It is not my playstlyle and to want to force it on me so I can be part of your group…squad…guild or what have you….nah…have fun with that.

This game is a play-as-you-like and because they have kept out the hundreds addons that bring out the elitests is why I love this game.

With that out of the way do I just go out build a toon and smash buttons. By no means. My thief I think is the 4th one I have run to 80. I deleted the others because of the lack of DPS and frustration until I realized I was doing it all wrong. One day in WvW another thief reached out to me…told me how bad I was. I could of blocked him but he PM’d me and asked if I wanted help. That was better than ANY DPS meter or YouTube video. I took his advice and now I die less and I take out more. Not because of a meter and not even close to a meta build but because someone wasn’t a kitten and now I spend most of my time on it because 1. I have fun 2. Nothing like taking out a cookie cutter DPS meter build.

My advice… try to have fun in the game after all that’s all it is. As an elitest you will not go far.

Nerf guard….nerf thief… nerf necro….nerf nerf nerf…. That is all I see in PvP and now more in WvW. That’s 3 of 4? Not saying your picks Zomg. Ranger is complained about because of the range and stealth. Ele complained about because support can’t be killed and they keep team alive…. That’s 5 now…2 left….eh nvm… it’s getting to be pointless

@zomgbuffalo – Ah..sorry I didn’t realize the exaggeration. Every MMO that I have played, thieves have ways to stealth and ways to DOT whether it be bleed. rupture, poison or what have you. I don’t see it being removed. Balanced? That is in the eye of the beholder or ANET.

I have only ever D/D in PvE but I see now what you are saying. In order to bleed that heavy they almost have to build in a way that makes them vulnerable and I guess you have to out survive the bleed and smash but you can’t do that because of the evade. To me this is more of a roam build since they would get squished easily by a blob.

Since I run power I cannot speak on how efficient the D/D is but sounds like it is but I have a feeling those running that build would comment on their overall weakness as the excuse why it is a level playing field.

Like I mentioned before: I do not zerg. I am sure zerging is fun, but ROAMING is 50% cancer. Please be reasonable and admit it instead of trying to cover Anet’s faults.

BUT that is the problem. Everything is ANETs fault. People want one thing get it and either they don’t like it or others are now upset. Take reaper for example. Before balance I did quite well now after balance because of the whiners or ANET I spend more time on thief since I would have to respec all my gear which we all know isn’t cheap.

People complained of Ghost thief (I never played it but followed those who did) but people complained. Why? because they couldn’t see them but they had crappy damage. So people got what they wanted and now thief found a way and it is cancer again. I could say the same for mesmer against my necro and thief or maybe guard that they are cancer because I cannot kill them most of the time so that makes them cancer? When you roam and get beat down by 2 or more welp it happens. Get beat down by a thief…welp that is what they build for. Hit and run… bleed you and come back and beat down some more until your dead. If we had complete balance no one would die lol. Everyone would just counter. When I go 1v1 I expect certain outcomes when facing certain builds on certain professions. I don’t know what else to say to calm you….

EDIT: Why is zerg cancer? I get dotted and through proper techniques I rarely die. Good group maybe bad groups but either way everything seems cancerous to you except your playstyle and profession….maybe chang it up??

My question is different. I am asking if the pips reset for the chests and not how many pips you need for loyalty and such. Your question I believe was answered:

We need to update the loyalty pip description.

You need to earn at least 75 pips for 3 weeks in a row to earn the loyalty bonus. We wanted players to have to participate in skirmishes to be considered loyal.

Hello, I’m not quite clear on this.

So you need to get
75+ pips on week 1
75+ pips on week 2
75+ pips on week 3

And then so long as you remain on the server, you will get the loyalty bonus?
Or will the streak reset if you miss a week, and you need to do all 3 again?

Needing to earn 100+ pips weeks 1, 2 and 3 is correct. If you miss a week you will need to do all 3 again.

*Edit: It should be 100 pips not 75. So you need to complete all of Wood Tier for 3 weeks.

So I asked in another topic about Pips and how the reset works. According to one player’s response they reset every week meaning if I get two chests… I have no way to get to the rest of the chest unless I devote more time etc….

Is this true Mr. / Ms. / Mrs. ANET? I see nothing in the update notes about Pips resetting so clarify by any chance? Is progression of Pip chests interrupted weekly or continue on like PvP.

Pips are earned every tick and are awarded based on the following:

Your world’s position during the skirmish (first, second, or third).
Your WvW rank.
Commanding a squad containing at least five people.
Playing on the same world for at least three weeks.
Playing on a map in which you are outnumbered.

Pips cannot be earned if you have recently transferred or if you do not have enough participation.

You must play on a world for an entire match in order to be eligible for earning pips.

Maybe you should go and learn about the various type of boosters and their duration…

In his or her defense….don’t use boosters if you know you are not going to be there for the whole time? Max is 2 hours for booster unless you stack them. Then I would say not stack. If you are say going to bed in 30 minutes…grab the 50% laurel one or go booster free. Just saying…. EDIT: Not counting B-day booster…not everyone enjoys using them.

Was not trying to be a kitten. But really why use a booster when your not in the map yet? I mean that is common sense stuff bro! Just got to use your noggin.

I see the guys or gals point to a point. But from here on out if you are in WvW use the booster you plan on staying in game for. I think it is a waste atm to use a 24 hour one or the ones that make food last 12 hours until this all settles down. I personally would like to see a booster choice where when you use it you get to select WvW or PvE and when you leave that game mode it suspends until back in that game mode…but then again the coders fingers will be hurting :P

NO! It has absolutely nothing with balancing when it comes to the PvE. Trust me I know. They will go back to PvE because they didn’t take the time to get the proper gear or build.

It was the mistake I made when I entered WvW and started to get serious thinking I could waltz right in and be a hero. It takes time to get the right build and gear that works for you. So after continuously dying, getting yelled at for dying and wanting to throat punch everyone…. I sought out and found people who explained why I was dying. Now I know how to react 1v1 or zerg or ktrain on how to survive and get the biggest bang for the bux I put into (gold..not gems).

Balance is always worked on and someone always will complain it is balance…Powercreep got too bad and condis complained …now its condi constantly griped about. Eh…it is always changing.

It’s not the condition damage itself. It is being able to SPAM DEFENSIVE abilities (dodges, blocks, whatever) and being able to deliver condition damage with those abilities. That is what is cancerous about condi damage. You get to save your butt by dodging or blocking, but at the same time your opponent gets 10k bleeding ticks. That is not fun, not interactive and full of crap.

I am trying to understand. I run a power thief and a condi reaper and 1v1 i never get that much condi damage. In zergs with good protectors I still don’t get downed by condis that often or that fast. So my question, as I try to sort this out, is how in the hell does someone get a 10k tick? Is it a build issue on the receiving issue such as glass cannon? Now if I am running around roaming and come upon 3 individuals on either toon I can be downed quickly but I guess because I am outnumbered for one and two I am not built for that kind of punishment. I play to my strengths and I am not going to 1v1 with a condi mesmer as I can tell the outlook will not be good on my thief..but on my reaper I can tat for tat for a bit and win some lose some.

If it is ascended armor you seek…there are other ways. If it is the tier 3 WvW you seek…welp…you gotta obey the rules says this 240ish casual player. I have no issues for those that beat their head against the wall for 2…3 or even 4 years to be rewarded.

Getting WvW gear in comparison to WoW

In less than a year I was able to equip myself with ascended gear for light, medium and heavy armor toons by either crafting, RNGesus drops or PvP. I just finished my medium set by crafting last two pieces after receiving 4 via WvW drops. All of this and I hate farming and crafting yet I did not find it too difficult. Expensive? Not too bad since I break down everything I find which helps gaining materials faster.

I am not even close to hardcore anything and that’s that.

Are you using foods and utilities for the extra xp bonus? Any cheap food or utility will work so cost should not be an issue. I have never had an issue leveling with these buffs and I do not subscribe to buy xp boosters.
