I am in amazement at all the people on Mag, and other servers, who can see the future of SBI. They have their stories down to a science on what diretion we will go, who will leave our server, and how we will do against all future opponents. Shocking how many assumptions the same players keep making as if their infinite wisdom sees all on how the players on a different server are going to act/react when confronted with future actions.

This would be the equivalent of someone looking into their crystal ball and saying that Mag and SBI will both end up in Silver league were Mag will be clubbed like a baby seal only accomplishing a place on the rankings below SBI. Therefore Mag’s less then cheery demeanor will lead to an implosion where players will start living in hypocrisy and jumping ship to winning servers. This will be the end of #Magswag.

the path sbi is walking down is the same as kaining. ifyou get in gold league, the bandwagons that recently joined will abandon, and you’ll settle in T4 or bottom T3 in a couple months.

Its next to impossible to fight Mag’s EB group which consists of 2-3 good sized guild groups with what we have participating. I assume it will be even more difficult tomorrow after the points are even or we are behind. Tonight I would say I hardly knew half the players, and most of the new players imploded in seconds. I can only imagine what it must look like from the enemy sideline. Initial pushes usually resulted in immediate retreat. Not looking forward to the rest of the week.

Yeah, SBI has never seen tier 1 numbers or faced them blobs, so yeah we have no idea what to expect. We have actually never faced a sever who has greater numbers than us nor have we EVER had the outnumbered buff on any map. Pvforuming in this thread is just bad :/.

In general we have a lot of new guilds/faces and we need to get more organized which will happen over time. Under no illusion that we can handle TC and don’t really care but thanx for all the attention and concern about our server. You all are precious <3.

I doubt most of the people commenting in this thread about how we’ll fare in Tier 1 and 2 realize we’ve already fought those servers with maybe 10% of our current population. I’m sure we’ll still be outmanned from time to time and our coverage probably won’t be on par but trust me, we’ve already seen the worst those guys can bring to bear.

I doubt there are very many players around here who remember the darkest days of SBI in which we not only played against T1 servers with 10% of our current population but also gave them one hell of a run for their money. FA and Mag talk a big game but I’ve yet to see them do any “superior tactics” other than massive zerg play.

Fact: The event happened on a Thursday before reset, when there was a decided winner and the servers involved already had issues getting people to log in and fight.

How exactly were these guys violating your “game mode”? They were far away from interfering with any objective flipping or defense. They were on a map that was not queued or causing issues for players to get into. People can have their own opinions about gvg and its place in WvW, but in this particular instance any of the regular protestations (taking up queue space, etc) were moot.

This guy owes the community and these particular players an apology. What he was doing was pure griefing, considering their event did not prohibit this Anet employee from capping objectives or playing the way he wanted to play. However, he was preventing others from playing the way THEY wanted to play.

Appology for what? Standing up there and watching? Its his right, as it is of every other player. He does not violate any rules by that or “grief” you. In fact, he had all right to actively interfere (attack other players, bring mobs there, set traps etc) – as any other players. GvGers are not given exclusive rights and protections and only able to hold the events because people let them.

In fact, if you actually would contact other side and tell them to kill this specific player interferring with you: that would be a clear rule violation.

From an actual harm standpoint: indeed, this even most likely did not matter.
From the legal standpoint: the Dev actually had all rights to punish you for abusing game mechanics (farming XP, as neglectable it were), conspiring to influence match result and “leeching” – its actually in a rules. He did nothing of that so even there you have nothing to complaint.

So whats the whole fuss about? Since some player DARED to interfere with your holy GvG by standing there, and that player happened to be a Dev? (as if having a tag automatically made him untouchable).

He had absolutely no obligations to your side, used exact same rights as any other player could and recived trown insults and personal attacks there and now through forums and making his details public.

That you like GvG more, does not invalidate the WvW mode. Basically, GvG is only prominent now, AFTER most of people already quite WvW and with excuse that WvW is dead anyway..

They`ll sure add proper GvG mode eventually, but WvW is not GvG (i.e. not balanced nice organized GvG with equal numbers , gear and enemy waiting for you to start).

I want revival of WvW, not turn of WvW in casual GvG arenas since WvW failed.

anet can only begin to ‘fix’ wvw when they realize people are still playing wvw/pvp because fighting other people is fun, not because of arbitrarily imposed objectives (pvdoor) that directly hamper said combat.

i understand the need for some sort of direction or goal to guide the combat, but obviously what they’re doing is not the solution. which is why outside of T1 servers, no one cares about ppt, and why as you say, ‘people stopped playing competitively’

A full shatter hits 4 times, that’s still something ^^ I’m playing my mesmer for about half a year now and i know for a fact that my build (gs + sword/torch shatter) gets hardcountered by retal.

/edit: While mesmers might be able to produce (and let die) enough clones to overwhelm the condi remove of the guardians, the sheer amount of heals flying around would most likely be enough to ignore every condition besides confusion, which (at least for me) always gets cleansed first.

go run a condi staff scepter/pistol or torch shatter mesmer and tell me you’re hard countered by retal.

Sure the Guardians got heavy melee, condition removal, healing and CC potential, but on the other hand Mesmers could just blink away and lay down some iBerserker smackdown without even turning around. Perma stealth fields, complete buff and ranged combat denial, not to mention timewarps everywhere. Lets not even begin to discuss clone generation and cripples/voulnerabilities…

Sorry, but…no…guardians got a ton of condition removal. Shatter builds would die instantly from retaliation when even trying to bring on 1 shatter combo (yes, i got myself killed from 18k-0 just yesterday in 1 shatter combo from retal alone) and illusions are useless in a fight that big.

the only purpose illusions would serve in a clone death build is to get aoed and die. im almost positive that you can generate more clones faster than guardians can clear the condis. you also dont take any retal damage.

So out of random curiosity, why does anyone play on SoS? Seems like such a lopsided server. Big off hour population, small NA population. I could see playing NA there because you would always be in a target rich environment, but I haven’t encountered many on SoS that really seem like the type to appreciate that situation.

The server doesn’t have the population to be competitive at higher tiers, and they have this huge off hour population that never fights anyone because no one in these tiers has much of an off hour population.

Seems incredibly boring for the off hour folks.

I have the clock in GW2 set to local time so don’t even know what server time is as it is entirely irrelevant to me and how I play the game.

I just checked it though and it is set to US west coast time? NA has about five time zones I believe? It is 3:19 PM in Anchorage, and 7:19 PM in New York. Sydney it s 9:19AM in the morning (nice day outside too). So really those playing east coast NA are as much non-prime-time people as they are “off-hour”?

the term prime time (ie. prime time television) usually refers to the time period between late afternoon to late evening. so 3pm to midnight or so. how is 7:19 pm not considered prime time?
