If you look hard enough, the terrain provides a lot of cover for you. Try apply FPS game logic when against a ranger.
Whenever a ranger pew pew me, i just do not waste my dodge, and run towards behind a rock or tree etc.
Hence, this is only a l2p issue.

NO class is OP, there is only OP skillful players.
To OP, with due respect, I think the main problem is that you are not familiar with the available Mesmer’s build at all. Play them, learn them, adapt and respond to their skills, etc. They drop like flies if you really learned them from toes to head. For me, shatter build mesmer are easy kill, condition bunker mesmer are the pain in the kitten .
Be keen on their breakstun skill (Blink,Decoy,Tele, Phase Retreat,F4), they are pretty much a free kill once they poped out all of those. Phase Retreat cool down is very low (10secs i think), dont burst them while knowing the skill are available.
Furthermore, they are the duelist of GW2, just look at their trait lol. If you lose to them 1v1, it is reasonable lol. Learned more and whine less.~~ pleaseeee

All of ranger’s weapon dmg is low damage in ranger because sharing damage with pet, I would rather prefer, pets to have protection boon when the ranger dodge, at this moment, all of those ranger hate was because the pet die too easily in dungeon, damage contributed is low hence.

Just out of curiosity, as I must have missed the rant(s) about it on the forums during one of my numerous breaks. But what’s wrong with Spirit Watch? I’ve always enjoyed the map since it’s not just about capping nodes.
certain professions are able to ascend the spirit ball, much, much better than any other professions.
I doubt that’s the reason. Anet has done very little to ensure the classes are equally represented in PvP.
Try use a ranger with Sword + GS + movement speed signet+signet of wild.+signet of stone.

New players enter Training mode, got thrashed by veteran players = Quit/ Exit Match
Veteran player teaming up with New Players in soloq got kitten d by premade team 10-500 – veteran fed up and Quit
Yeah, hence explained why the REAL pvp player population are so tiny.

Basically yeah, you can burn enemy when healing with Defender Flame.
Shelter reached its optimum usage in traiting Might of Protector and AH.
You HP replenish from 1% to 100%, that is, if you are being targeted by everyone in group fight.

I had lots of fun with this condi+medi build of mine. xD Purpose of this build is to maximize burning duration instead.
sPvP Scenario at mid
Rotation (1) aka Blow All Skill in Group Fight
Mace2+JI+Purging Flame, Focus5+Mace3 (walk around begging it to be burst xD), Focus 4, Swap Torch 4×2 (the one unlucky target xD) and Sword AA the kitten out of him.
sPvP 1v1 Scenario
Rotation (2)
-Start the fight with bursting Mace3+Focus5 (ppl tend to start pumping keyboard at the starting fight, let the blocked Burn stack on him first)
-Swap to Sword/Torch. Always make sure your Torch4+4 hits, that’s the cue for this build. Sword AA &3 to stack Burn.
-DO NOT press F1 unless you are using elite later on.
-See him died burning xD

Condi build may sounds viable in 1v1, however I don’t think condi guard possessed any threat in a group fight. ( And yes, i have tried myriads ways of condi. build ) Condi build just sacrifice too many CC and support skills (SYG) in order to get the Burn, just don’t worth it imo.

I’m pretty sure OP’s favorite class in sPVP must be a Zerker Thief because those are my fresh meat =x.
Despite getting a Legend Champ title, you QQ in forum about Guardian as if you are a new player? facepalm Yes i agree with you, the AA of GS is the highest among the classes, however bear in mind Guards also have the lowest starting HP, i think this balance things up.
Instead of whining, why don’t you articulate in what situation makes you comes to this conclusion of yours?

It should also provide stability to people inside the bubble =x Most of the time when i see one Guard using Sanctuary, i just popped my Stand Your Ground and bash him out with Hammer lol.

Undeniable that DPS wise, Sword is only good for 1v1, or vs a Boss.
Sword3 I see it as a trolling method to stack my Burn instantly without getting interrupted by range CC in pvp.
Projectile problem? Lets face it, who would spend their deflect utilities skill in pvp when vs a Guard? AA in 300 range for melee weapon is kinda OP to me.
We need to have a target to teleport, sadly it seems Arena will never change that. They want us to die fighting =( , not running away.
Furthermore, GS ish definitely superior over Sword in so many ways. GS3 can disengage from fight xD
The only changes i hope for Sword would be reduce their cool down, or add certain stats when equipped.

Hi Temos, i think its 2 side of a coin, MAYBE some new players are persistent enough to stay in pvp despite got pawned. =p Either way, pvp is suffer now which lacking of TRUE pvper, admit it guys, u guys just want the reward , most are just PVE players.=X
Anyway, I’ve been stressing so much to Arena, the suckiness of current pvp is because there is not rank segregation between veteran and new players! To solve this issue, Arena pathetically conceal the players rank instead of fixing the problem of auto-match making.
For me, I hate losing in a match, be it hotjoin or soloQ or whatever. Winning is FUN for me. Countless losing matches due to teaming up with 3 new players that did’nt know to cap a point! Got lure and chase opponent like a dog at off point!
You know what? My new fun is, identify new players, pawn them into oblivion.
Despite losing a match. I enjoy killing. I dont mind having fun with veteran players, competitive gameplay is the ultimate gaming experience.

Honestly, there is no bad class in DPS, I’ve only stumbled upon bad players which do not know their class potential:
i)Ignorance of combo and tactics. Etc, Hammer guard that interrupt Eles Blast finishes on FireField with its AA light field, self dreaming his Fire Field + Hammer 2 is better than Eles.
ii) Guardian/Thief/Engineer/Mesmer that wasting projectile reflection utilities. Example, the Golem boss in CoE, use your wall ONLY when the Golem is channeling its skill, this is what kills Eles in your party.
I’ve pug with necros numerous time and they in fact surprised me. I love them for how good they can sustain themselves while on the same time deal good DPS. Hence, i leveled a necro with hacking style (60 tomes of knowledge). From testing, I dealed 5k damage on each hit on Death Shroud mode, it is like hacking if were to pair up with Quickness. Hence to reply OP, classes do not determine what class i bring, but its their AP.
Some may argue blablabla AP is nothing.
I want to tell you the truth from my experience, the ratio of 10 persons of 10k AP above, only 1 bad player in it. While the ratio of 10 persons of 3k AP below, 9 of them are extremely ignorance.

I too find it annoying on how ignorant and thick nerf of some players ignore their teammate in spvp! But you penned it flawlessly.

Most conveniently put a blind eye other broken weapon choice of ranger, and whining about one single weapon, giving false fact, (15k at 1500 range L O L, dmg too high and kittens) All this due to their own incompetent to adapt on a new strategy against Ranger. There is no problem with the survival mechanic.
For me, playing a ranger is about player’s skills as the following;
How do you keep a distance from your prey? Always abuse the 1500 range.
How do you foreseen the gap closer skill of each class? Are you keen enough to see through group fight knowing they had used their gap closer? Thus, effecting your pick on the prey to ensure they got no escape.
Have you abuse on the terrain design of the pvp map? Stay in high ground when you pewpew.
Has the player anticipated your present? Sadly to say, we are quite easily predicted. It is best to take them in surprise. We win in ambush.
What i did was, once the prey know from which point 1500 away i pewpew from, i would just disengage the fight before they even tried to chase me, and shooting them again from a different position if they gave up, possible flank and rear side of the player.

Sure it is fair. None of the melee weapon of a ranger can kill anyone with build as berzerk. Axe sucks and broken, sword rooting and only good for running away, Greatsword is one pathetic weapon+ stupid block that roots you too. Hences the only viable direct damage they got is longbow with its range.
Unless if he is a condi ranger., then you will get the so called ‘fair’ melee fight that you wanted, but was it fair for ranger? But then again, condi ranger do not pew pew on such range.
Maybe you should spend some time playing a ranger.

1) Do not act on emotion.
2) Know your enemy like the back of your palm. Figure their build, their gear, their weakness, can they counter your build? Are they weak against you? Take time on this.
3) If a player is superior to your skill, admit defeat and plan on disengage from fight. Do not die fighting.
4) Learn the art of taunting, baiting, and luring.
5) Do not act like Rambo.
4) Never stomp a Thieve, hack them till death
5) Read your enemy’s attack pattern (are they moving offensively or defensively, figured why), combo, break stun cool down, know when to hit hard. Etc; Once a Mesmer used up Blink,Phase Retreat, Distortion, they are pretty much a free kill.
I can’t think of any for now. Hope these help!

Well here’s what I’m proposing, what if Arena set a rule whereby at the end of a dungeon/fractal, the kick player function will not be available ?
Then you’ll get the trolls who do decent throughout the dungeon, but purposely fail the last one just to spite people. And can’t be kicked.
If someone gets kicked, what happens? Kickers find a member more in their play style, kickee finds a party more in their play style. Anger/annoyance for a few minutes and people get over it. What if you can’t kick? You’re forced to stick with people you don’t want to be with and endure hours of frustration and boredom.
Well, clearly you do not read properly of what i wrote, i said NEAR ending a dungeon. Let me clarify abit here, near ending a dungeon could be at the final boss perhaps? Or are you too thick i need to further elaborate?

No doubt, if you wanna go head on with a Guard, you are gonna be so dead. I do not agree with the changes you proposed.
The only time I had problem with a Thief was when i got kited by this one skillful Condi. Thief Shortbow and Sword shadowstep stealth play. Perhaps you could find some build from this.

I understand you’re annoyed that everyone is kittening about your class on the forums, because it’s been UP so long and you just want a chance to enjoy it. That doesn’t make your argument any less fallacious however.
While most people are overreacting (asking Anet to nerf Rangers less than a week after patch), that doesn’t mean everyone’s concerns are entirely baseless. I’ve said multiple times “I Don’t want rangers nerfed or think they’re OP” (and you can check my message history if you’d like to verify that fact), but that doesn’t mean certain aspects don’t warrant monitoring. As it stands, RF is an amazingly easy to hit burst that leaves you in a relatively safe position if applied intelligently. Is it OP? ATM I don’t think so. Should Anet keep an eye on just how easy it is to use and be effective with? certainly.
It also doesn’t help that Rangers are turning to absolutely asinine arguments and non-sequiturs in an attempt to deflect the heat. You have some people painting these changes as if they were a nerf (“Look how easy it is to dodge/reflect now!”), some ignoring the balance discussion all together by just claiming “Rangers deserve it”, and random other silliness. “Just hide behind the terrain” is a silly thing to say – imagine I said “Don’t want to get backstabbed? Put your back to a wall/cliff!” You’d be incredulous, and rightly so.

Removing rank in spectator mode doesn’t solved the already deteriorating pvp content. Its just being lazy. Days where i enjoy seeing how pro players played is gone with this stupid patch, now i have to look at the score to wildly guess if he or she is good, but then again, you may say some pro players do not bother about scores. Thus for me, this so called new features is pure stupid.
There is no need for this ineffective solution if arena segregate players through rank For example 0-15, 16-25, 26-35,36-45, etc.
The main problem now is that new players got thrashed, hence, to win the match, these people leave and stays in spectator mode, abuse the auto-balance feature to join the winning team. Try play a Hotjoin, you will see 4v5 4v5 4v5 all the time!

“Rangers have always been an easy kill for thieves. This is pretty much what I do even if he did see me. Start off with Steal traited Long Reach and Hidden Thief(if it won’t bug on me, and as long as I am not in pistol range it shouldn’t), even if he shoots me the steal itself is an instant teleport negating that first arrow. Open up with pistol 1 from stealth and keep on him, stay behind him so that his knockback and stealth will fail to work. At this point he usually changes out into a Sword+Dagger/Warhorn or Greatsword. A ranger doesn’t have no aegis, blind, invul, and only 1 block on a long cooldown so you can basically abuse cloak and dagger at this range. If he manages to knock me back using his greatsword #4 I use my steal again if its up or blinding powder. After this I would open up on him again, use immobolize to keep him near you, a LB ranger build has by far one of the worst cleanse in the game with a long cooldown so he should kill himself from the bleed/confusion and torment stacks long before you take any serious damage.
However this is Tournament Season 3 so I play my ranger because I am so tired of warrior and I feel like contributing.

Its not fully broken, its just because the Light Field effect did not last as long as the ring. I tried it before, if im not mistaken it only last for the first 1 second i think.

Typical Gw2 community, they whine and cry for the new changes, yet they turn a blind eye and do not bother to understand why Ranger was one of the most discriminated class in game since launch. Previously a Warrior Signet of Healing can outheal RF by standing ideally at blocked terrain, isn’t that ridiculous?
I got no prob with the new RF and i applause Areana for the buff on Ranger.
Tips to the Whiners, just find some cover and odd angle, and you will be avoiding most of its attacks without even dodging.

How long can you maintain Aegis infront of Alpha in CoE?
UC is kinda unreliable to me.
Hammer2 ish very stronKkk as mentioned and helps in Blast Combo.
SF is strong too in case of ressing teammate with F5 on, while Hammer5 doesnt have as much impact on that.
Therefore at the end of the day, it depends on your own playstyle and team set up!
If a party filled with Ele, i would use SF, if a party is filled with Warrior, i would use hammer.

Changes on MI is good, to disengage from fight. I could think of myriads ways to perform combo and trolling with this change.
Comparing to Mesmer and Ele blink, i think we shouldn’t whine at all haha.

Anyway, OP’s rant is valid from the perspective of supportive role he always wanted
to be. Sadly, the current update patch was more for pvp players. Ppl would choose over support bunker engineer =/. Therefore Guardian is more favorable with DPS role in the common match. It also solved disengagement from fight with the changes on MI.
To counter your point :
1) If you cant save yourself, how can you save others? Trait that +300vit is totally valid.
2) Why bother about that new healing skill ? You got your favorite Healing Breeze
that supports anyway? Mosr Medi Guard still choose Shelter over it.
3) Well, the fact is that even with 4 medi skill, Guard is in no way good in sustaining in a fight.
4) I don’t get your rant on revised Renewed Focus, it fits in dps and support role.
5) Vigor nerfed: This i support your rant.
6) Erm..the only shout that i found useful is SYG. Even if traited with remove condi on shout, it could not stop the tidal wave of meta condi users.
So what kind of support are you actually looking for ?

1: Meditation skills is not long compare to Ele Cantrip.
2: Guard has Hammer Time! Owning big time if you time it. Imma dps guard with Hammer =D
3: Meditation Zerker Duel? DPS? GW2 is imbalance in duel. Each profession has its own specialty. Ermmm…Is it valid for Thief to whine “I can’t be a bunker, sobsob”
4: Erm, obviously there is not a build that is perfect with no counter at all isnt it?
5: Any Spirit Weapon related build ishHHhH useless since it lost its invulnerability. YUp, this problem is valid. And i believe no matter how they buff SW, its useless if it dies in AOE within 4 seconds.

1) Ele : time your burst. Read their Cantrip. Its a marathon against these Ele.
2) Necro :Lich? Just runaway (They can’t chase you anyway), there is a reason for it to be an elite skill. Tips: They got extremely limited Stability boon, abuse it!
3) Condi ranger – yes, condi meta is a problem to every profession! But bear in mind they are only good in 1v1.
4) Condi Warrior – yes, HAMBOW meta is a problem to all of us!
5) Thief is actually Guardian’s fresh meat.
6) Condi Decap Engineer ish our Nemesis! Except for Zerk Engineer, they kiss floor pretty fast. I’m kinda pity Engineer because their others build is not viable at all =/
7) Mesmer: Time your burst and be keen on cooldown of their Staff2&5!Blink! Quite easy to get them once you can identify the real one.
“why dps guard is bad:”
1. Scepter can hit if you stay within 400 range. But its a valid comment that its useless at 1200 range.
2. You could ~~~actually with …Supreme Justice!
(Combo: Mace2/Purgingflame+JI+torch4+swap+ Focus4+Sw3)
3. GS & Sword is good already with AOE Blind~~ except Sw3
4. You wont be kite if you are aware of the many many many combo with Judge Intervention!
