I don’t follow metas, though I’ve been impressed enough with certain hammer warriors in PvP that I’ve tried to figure a build out. As long as my guys don’t die, can damage the bad guys, and have a decent synchronicity with skills and traits then I’m satisfied.

I just started playing GW2 a few weeks ago and assumed this issue was a bug.

The fact that it has lingered this long is pretty demoralizing.

It is one of those bugs/missing features that is extraordinarily embarrassing and unprofessional.

Is it game breaking? Not at all. But it just looks horrendously bad and is a huge downer psychologically. Sometimes those are the types of negative things that are far worse than a more serious bug.

This really should get more priority.

Welcome newbie! I’ve been playing for over three years now and first six months this bothered the hell out of me. Fifteen (or so) rangers later now I don’t even think of it. I never switch out pets from the rosters of my guys once they hit 80 so it isn’t an issue. I’d imagine plenty of other players are the same. If Anet have figures on how often pets are completely switched out or not then I expect that would influence how seriously they’d look at this. I wouldn’t say no if it happened but ultimately I don’t think the issue is high in the grand scheme of things.

A lot of my more active 80s carry one or two extra armour sets. I can and do easily live with the filled inventory but I could also live with a system outlined by the OP. Not going to cry if we never get one, though.

None of my necromancers are human and I’m pretty happy with the look in pieces of cultural wear. Charr and Sylvari particularly since my Norn isn’t 80 yet. I can see the value and attraction of a plain robe and hood though. Simple can be better sometimes.

I didn’t realise these “flailed”. They are now on my shopping list and yes, it may as well be fixed.

Seriously though, new characters should just start with one of the scrolls that level you up to 30. The early levels of this game used to be the best thing it had and now it’s close to the worst. I leveled up a new Ranger recently and did it normally instead of just scrolling and it was ridiculous. You can’t tame or swap pets immediately, basic profession functions like commanding your pet are also restricted, your weapon skills are level locked so you’re stuck with a hamstrung skill bar until you level up. It’s just horrendous. We all know that the NPE was terrible but every now and then I forget just how bad it is until I dip my toe back in the water.

I was (am) more annoyed about the map changes but…yeah.

I hear you loud and clear, mostly because I find myself in the same exact boat.

I actually did spend some RL moolah to see what I could figure out and…well…I have more inventory bags and a new slot for another bag….and I leveled up Leatherworking and Huntsman to about 200 each.

…now what? Keep doing that? For what? All the new things I can now make are above my level. Plus, the icing on that cake is, what it takes to make them costs a lot more then what I can sell them for.

So….should I just go back out and kill things?

I don’t know because, like you, the original appeal seems to be waning. I want to like this and long ago I was a casual WOW player that only got to about level 75 or so before a job took over my time. Now, I own a business and can do as I please but…this game so far (bought it about a week ago) is feeling a little..I don’t know, aimless and lonely I guess?

I’m playing on Gates of Madness server in NA. Made a pretty little Ranger Chick and so far got her up to level 41. I also spent the last two days looking for some gold making things to do…

Spent 20 gold on buy orders for about 250 different low level blue weapons and armor at 1 silver each. I set it to buy 15 of each one I found in the TP with other buyers under 1 silver. Hope that made sense. Essentially, I tried to buy at 1 silver for each item and intended to salvage everything I got to then sell the materials for a profit.

Long story short, I just spent a ton of time salvaging a few hundred weapons and armor and literally broke even on what I spent to buy them. lol Almost exactly.

Not sure what I am doing wrong but gathering, crafting, buying and selling is definitely not seeming to be a good time.

Anyway, not trying to hijack your thread but I can tell you for sure, you’re not alone at all. I’m right there with you and wondering how to give this game a fighting chance to be more fun to play.

I know I am a casual player and always will be. I have zero interest in being the best. I also have zero interest in some elitist telling me I’m trash at the game if I go and try to find a dungeon to see what else is out there. I have no expectation of being instantly fantastic at any of this and anyone who was born with the knowledge required to be a Guild Wars 2 god…well, hooray for you kitten while I shoot that bird in the face for no reason. lol

I’d like to play and have some fun doing it but haven’t found that yet. Maybe we could meet up and be failures together? Perhaps? Anybody out there?

I dislike Metrica and Brisban Wildlands but keep playing the game anyway. There’s loads to do without visiting every map. Until you get enough of that “loads to do”…

Mine was like this as well. Large that is not problematic. Thought it was odd but I have no idea what the raids take so I didn’t think too much of it.

Who cares? If you’re going with that crowd then follow their rules and deal with it. Plus everyone knows those examples are more on the lackluster side for hardercore stuff so why would you even consider it. Except for giggles of course.

If you want a legendary then make or buy one for yourself.

At least in Outside they have OCX servers, and we’re on our own seasonal patching schedule. A fix to the Autumn Patch can’t come soon enough though; bugged to hell at the moment.

AUD and USD is different and I believe currently it sits at AUD$1 – USD$0.6.

So my Dollar is only worth 60c to America. We have to pay the tax because there is no AUS servers, unlike league of legends who have OCX servers and do not require you to pay those taxes.

We’re up to 71c today. Which still sucks. I bought loads of gems when we were at 90c plus but not so many now.

Oh, and we don’t have the tax they’re talking about. We only have exchange fees.

Because there aren’t any. Same as there aren’t options for Aussie or Kiwi dollars, or anything else other than what’s listed. Look for game cards since they’ll be sold in your currency.

Ally, you seem to be a lot like my ex-wife. She didn’t quite get things either, always took offence at the most innocuous things. It was no big deal and not the reason she’s my ex (mostly). My advice is to not worry about what people say to you, thought that might be hard, and just get on with things. The system works fine in general.

I actually hope not. The home instance doesn’t feel like a home, and there’s no variety. Except maybe in the human one, but the (very small interiors) houses are already furnished.

When/if they ever do give us player housing, I fervently hope that a) they will have learned from their guild hall errors — and strengths — and b) it will be robustly customizable to allow for truly individual spaces, from overall setting to type of furniture. I don’t want to live in Salma, I want a Caudecus Manor style estate for my nobleman, rough alleys and hideyholes for my street rat, a merchant shop with apartments upstairs for my commoner. One of my sylvaris ICly has a hermity high-in-the-branches pod but it’s not a hollow shell with a hammock, it’s a series of grown rooms with comfy furniture, bookshelves, a kitchen, etc, all wrapped in flowers outside.

Just being able to randomly throw tables around the current home instance would feel to me like a sadly lackluster effort on ANet’s part.

So many +1s it’s not funny. I doubt we’ll ever see it though. It doesn’t really match how they want to make the game.

I’m going the opposite way at the moment. The bulk of my 80s were levelled almost entirely from open world PvE (with newer ones starting with level 20 scrolls) and I’m now putting a few of my lowbies through PvP for level up scrolls, since I’ve just “discovered” PvP after three years.

More snide remarks on the forums will beat both of them, I think.

I used my second account as a permadeath account and didn’t play any differently as normal. Which meant, for me, using toughness if it was on a piece of armour I used as a drop. Never got anyone to 80 so not sure what I’d change at that level. I’d probably group more if there was a 300 second limit.

We did get Dragon Bash in the form of the Lunar New Year, so it’s not proof, but an indication that it is being thought about. That counts for something.

The Lunar New Year festival is not Dragon Bash. Nothing is the same, except the availability of the Jade weapons.

When you stopped playing before, had Anet implemented the mega-server system? If not, what you may be seeing is that on a less-populated server, there were not a lot of people doing events. Now, with the population higher in most zones, I see a lot less events than I did them.

No, they hadn’t added the mega server system when I left. I did briefly come back after they had added that but didn’t stick around long or level any alts.

If not the sole cause, mega-server is going to be a heavy contributor to the phenomenon you’re talking about. With anyone in the region (i.e., NA) who is in a given map in one map copy unless there are enough to produce an overflow, there is a greater chance that someone is going to have done an event before you get there. On the old low pop servers, I couldn’t go 1000 units without seeing an event. Now, it’s chancy for me. I’ll run through whole zones without seeing one sometimes, but other times I see several.

Absolutely. I haven’t even seen a few of my favourite events since megaservers were introduced.

Generally I have a zero amount of look observance. If I’m standing still though, and so are others, then I have better chance to notice things. Colours and skin combinations usually but also anything that I haven’t seen before. When I see that I’ll always compliment the player in a whisper.

Come to think of it, maybe the inherent baked in cooperative nature of PvE maps is why they havent put in dueling. In PvE you give buffs to each other and your outgoing heals go to other players. Maybe that not possible to turn off on PvE maps, even if the other player is red to you. You could be fighting each other and giving each other buffs and heals while doing that. That’s not a situation that purist PvP players are going to like.

Just a possibility as to why it’s not easily possible to add dueling or PvP to PvE.
