People still use knives and machetes now to kill and mutilate each so it’s not much of a stretch to think they may still be popular in a fantasy game with megalaser cannons. It’s just one of those things.

I know I have said this a few times, but Charr Drive War Machines, put in a Charr Inspired Motorcycle design, and even if to just ride (read ‘run’) around Lions Arch, people will get a kick out of it, add some sounds, and what have you, a smoke trail, maybe tire tracks.

If you add collision and an animation for said thing then I’ll back this 100%.

make it feel more immersive.

Yes….staring at some random animal’s kitten is soooo immersive while trying to get the to NPC they are standing on, in, or otherwise in the way of.

/sarcasm off

That’s… really not that much of a problem in other MMOs.

It’s one I almost always run into. I just…don’t enjoy staring at some creature’s rump. Whether I’m trying to get to an NPC, or if I’m just standing around and someone decides they want to be a jerk. Hell, we have issues with people using tonics and intentionally trolling people by stacking on event NPCs and such. I can only imagine what they’d do if you gave them mounts to do that kitten with.

True story: I do this for work. I don’t want to bring my work home so you keep fighting the good fight.

How many hours from now till patch goes live?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

No one knows. Sometime before 2pm Pacific tomorrow.

Which is how many hours from now?

In ten minutes from this post it will be 7 pm pacific time.

7 + 5 = 12. So it is now 5 hours to midnight.

Midnight to noon is 12 more hours. So 17 hours to noon tomorrow.

Add 2 to get to 2 pm and you get 19 hours from the top of this hour.

edit: The patch should be sometime before that because they are doing the AMA at 2 pm Pacific “after the release is live.”

Thank you! I have a timezone app on my ipads but…work phone. Since the patches happen while I’m asleep my excitement level is on a low boil anyway.

Sometime in the next 19 hours and 15 minutes.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

I didn’t mind Scarlet. Canach was always more of a mystery.

Well as to the reward, it used to be you got a Pact token (maybe you still do?) redeemable for one blue glowy Pact weapon from the Quartermaster at Fort Trinity. As those are tradeable, plenty of them are on the TP. Even at one weapon per alt there are plenty of them people would rather get a gold or two for than unlock the skin themselves.

You also get a dance party, if you talk to the late arrival in the final episode and go all the way through his conversation choices.

No token anymore, just a box where you can select your weapon. The quartermaster is still there though.

I’m inclined to agree but I have no idea how. I had no respect for pve commanders until Marionette (where I nearly bought a tag) and later LS1 chapters. I can see the point with TT and the LS2 and HoT maps and have followed some decent commanders with that content so its all evened out.

All you commanders out there, no matter what I think you’ll never hear from me because I’ve never put my money where my mouth is, and you wouldn’t even if I had because I’m nice

Why haven't you built a Legendary Weapon?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: zenleto.6179

For me, partly because the design of some of them aren’t really to my taste, but mostly because the making of them isn’t terribly legendary. Run some content, blow a stack of gold on the tp; it just seems sort of…crap. I’d prefer to go out and collect my own materials but the game isn’t very conducive for that in a reasonable timeframe. That’s my opinion anyway and since you’ve asked I’ve given it.

Hype is real again!!!!

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: zenleto.6179

zenleto.6179

By the way, raids are awesome and I bet majority of their haters are people incapable of making friends in game to raid properly.

As someone who hasn’t raided yet I’d say many of the “actively distrustful dislikers” have poor experiences of similar content in other games. Casting aspersions on people like this is pretty poor.

Okay, maybe it wasn’t nice to say 90% percent, but from my experience I know there are many people hating it just for that reason. If you didn’t try raiding in GW2 you definitely should! It is very different to WoW raiding. And actually not even that hard. The last raid night with my guild we killed the first two bosses on the first try and the last boss on like the third. I must tell you it is extremely rewarding seeing how you and your friends get better and better until you are actually able to finish the whole wing before the 1 hour long food consumable runs out

Yeah, I’m sure there are people hating raids “just because” but there are many reasons. Amazingly enough, and honestly you didn’t strike a nerve, but I was thinking just during the week that I’ve been playing this game for over three years now and haven’t met anyone in game that I’ve wanted to know for more than the conversation I had with them. Doing the raids is something I want to try at some point but I have a load of things to do in game. What you’re experiencing with your guild is something I love about MMOs. Nice work.

They could make the HCs soloable as well as map completions. Previous core Tyria maps didn’t require you to either do the story or play the events in order to get 100% completion. I’d like to see the HoT maps go back to this.

Same. I like that some of them are hard, even in a small group, but for GW2’s more “typical” player I think a softening of things like this would draw more players into the expansion.

Caveat: It is possible people mean something different than I do, so feel free to clarify what you mean by Trinity if you think my example doesn’t fit.

This is what I thought DGraves was getting at in his post. I thought it had become something of a reality in HoT. The next round of elites may change it again.

I think that the druid elite is a healer version of the ranger. A different ranger elite might be better with a bow, but we’d still have the druid, which is mutually exclusive with the new elite. Eventually, all classes would have an elite for each role.

Ah yeah, very true. I have to say I’m looking forward to what the future elites will bring for the game.

For those us who want to play how we want with whatever profession we want then all power to us. The system is already in place with varying degrees of success per profession. Seems win/win to me.

You want a conspiracy? Try creating a male human toon, then remove all the facial hair. Most of the faces look feminine or at least androgynous. Why is that? My tin foil hat is tingling.

There are no androgynous looking male human faces. theyre all plain, coarse, and ugly. theres some small variations, very limited, but for the most part theyre all coarse 40something men with wide faces and ugly features. the one with a black eye is the closest to “androgynous” you can get, and even hes fugly

What??? I can’t roll more than the two human males I have because the rest of the looks are too boy band prissy.

And as for the topic, I don’t mind many of the heavy choices but after a while the medium and light gear can get a bit samey (or a lot). It can be a touch hard getting a theme together. Disclaimer: I have a lot of characters.

Selling SAB

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: zenleto.6179

zenleto.6179

They said selling Dungeon runs is legal if you do not exploit to do so.

Many, including myself, feel that joining an SAB group at the end to get the rewards is an exploit. And therefore should be against the rules as it should be the same as selling Dungeon runs.

There would not be the backlash there is if it wasn’t an exploit to join an already started SAB instance.

Many, including myself, feel that joining a group of any kind in order to recieve the benefits so long as you are willing to give payment for the service is a legitimate service of the people. Therefore, it should be allowed by the rules and should be allowed just as much for SAB as for any other run of sorts.

The same opinion works in the same logic from the other side. :P

There are backlashes about everything, and no-one is ever fully satisfied. That said though, I still think people are focusing too much on a symptom of the problem, I.E. An SAB exploit, than the real problem, currency being able to be bought with real money. Additionally, people are making -way- too big of a deal about items of which the entirety of its components can be bought on the TP and/or crafted, in addition to the fact the skins are only a literal color spectrum change and add nothing truly unique to the item.

Here’s the thing about the exploit as well: They could just as easily remove the code restrictions about joining, and it would literally be the same as any dungeon or raid run selling service to players. Ultimately, it is Anet’s decision — and honestly, I feel the fact they allow gold to legitimately be bought in game says way more about their stance and policies than temporarily allowing an exploit which isn’t really much of an exploit, considering they allow it in almost -every- other sense of the game.

The problem is, the next time there is an exploit, those caught by ANet will go “but it’s not that much of an exploit and you allowed it for SAB when that was also not that much of an exploit”.

It sets a very very very bad precedent.

And no one should be able to be allowed to benefit from an exploit. No matter how large or small. Banned for it? Not necessarily in all instances and I wouldn’t say they should be banned for this one. But they should still not be allowed to use an exploit and benefit from it.

Just chiming in to say yeah, pretty much. This whole debacle is uncomfortable.

No. Why punish those that don’t use that exploit? I really don’t like that tribulation mode, but I would like to get that coin exchange…

Yeah, me either. I’ve been enjoying my SAB. Still working through world 2 on normal let alone Tribulation mode. I’d be dirty if my head of steam was interrupted. I can’t really see an option other than that if they were to try and combat this exploit until its fixed. Except for bans of course.
