I log on several times a day. If you’re not interested in the WvW meta, and you’re not trying to catch up on stuff like alts before the next living story starts, your mileage my vary. lol

Why catch up on alts? I have three lvl 80’s and can’t seem to get my fourth up to 80 or even finish world exploration with him. I guess I am just bored of exploring the same world for the fourth time, I’ve seen the sights, they’re old news now lol :P

Its interesting for some people. I’ve gone to the extent over the last couple of weeks of getting three alts to 29 so they can start on the new skill point system straight away (if that’s how its going to work). And I have 14 80s btw.

Absolutely. There’s a good chance they had a rethink on things but we’ll never know.

Or maybe there was never any plan to have any other infinite harvester ever collect a secondary item. Its not safe to say anything until there is a response. One thing doesn’t make a trend.

No drawbacks. Just play it until you find it unfun — it gets progressively worse as you go forward, particularly past level 30 — so don’t suffer through it hoping there will be a good payoff later on.

Sansa, take everything you read on these forums with a few grains of salt. Keep your mind open and decide on what’s fun or not on your own. There is plenty to do in the game if you find one or two segments a tad boring or just a plain crap experience.

And, one last bit of advice, don’t spend much time on the forums. There’s very little worth here (in my salt-grainy opinion ).

Just because you can’t see them doesn’t mean they aren’t there. There may have been two people fighting something on the other side of a tree from you but you wouldn’t know it. Not everybody responds in map chat either, whether because they don’t have it on their current tabs, are shy, or just can’t be kitten d who knows why.

Mate, get off the train and explore the world. I don’t like telling people what fun is but the champ train really isn’t. Be entertained by the game and the gold will start building anyway.

The NGE (New Game Enhancement) was a patch that was and is universally seen as the nail in SWG’s coffin. It was so drastic that it ended up changing the games genre and is remembered as one of the biggest screwups in MMO history.

I suspect the OP is a little bitter with GW2.

I’ve been thinking of the NGE all day and I very rarely have anything in common with the OP when it comes to thoughts on this game. It seems a big change for so late in the game’s life.

I honestly don’t know how I feel about it. On one hand I’m a little keen to see how it all pans out but on the other I have this nagging feeling its going to be ANet’s NGE.

A year ago people were moaning about the same thing. The crystal prison thing will most likely happen when you aren’t even trying for it.

The pets can take a bit of getting used to but they aren’t really too bad. I have three rangers to 80 and don’t have any trouble with them. And sword can still be crap if you don’t trait right. Read up on traits, armour stats, and runes. It can be fun putting it all together

Otherwise, just try each class for a couple of days and decide then. A couple of them are a bit rough at early levels (looking at you mesmer!) but played right they’re all not bad.

Oh, and OP if you like healers and ranged try a ranger. They can do well with what you can manage with healing in this game as well as getting your bow fix.

What the rep clearly talked about was maps with overflows, where you currently end up in a completely random one, but with the new system you end up in a map with server-mates, guildies and friends.

Community isn’t just guild/friend list. Community is essentially everyone on your server, and that is being messed with.

One of the most exciting aspects of the new system is that it gets you playing with members of your home server more often.

I can’t picture this so, personal reservations aside, I’m really interested to see how this is going to work.

Well, then they should make this game interesting as a multiplayer experience. Currently group play is synonymous with ‘spam 1 and fight your seizures until the loot drops’. Solo/duo roaming, on the other hand, lets you plan your skills, dodge, you know, utilize the mechanics.

People are always claiming that everything is spam 1, but I have played more or less daily since headstart and I have yet to find a situation that forces me to spam 1.

But I suppose that might have to do with the fact that I mostly do WvW.

I’ve always wondered about this too and I think its just a “put down” way of saying the game is easy, particularly when there are more people needed for a mob or event than is really necessary. Which is what we might see with the Megaservers.

Problem is that some of us are on low-populated servers for a reason.
So, why not let the players choose instead of forcing the “multiplayer” thing on us?
If there are to be several map copies anyway, it seems reasonable to let players see which ones are highly populated and which are empty. Than choose what they prefer. Map selected by the megaserver system could display as a suggestion only.

Umm, this is a multiplayer game. Perhaps you should switch to e.g. Skyrim if that is a problem for you.

The fact that it is an mmo should not be a reason to punish the players who prefer playing alone. Till now there always was a choice of choosing server or less popular map. I don’t see why should it be removed completely.

I honestly can’t see any reason why it’s better to be on your own versus having other players around you in GW2. They’ve made it so that everything is better with more players. Maybe you can enlighten me.

And further, my first feeling when I read the blog ten minutes ago was that I’ll definitely be avoiding the 1-15 maps during prime time. Too many people! I don’t like crowds in real life. Queensdale can already get too much for me.

What if you did? Way back when I first started playing there was a guild that had the tag [C-word] and the actual guild name had nothing to do with it except some initials. Except for an increase in vulgarity there’s not much difference.

I think OP doesn’t realize that you get skill points you can use to unlock things starting at level 2.

That should satisfy your “put points into things” fix.

Play a Mesmer sometime and then come back and tell me what you think of no traits until 30 and no grandmaster traits until 80.

I’ve just been doing this with a mesmer just to see how it goes, through to 26 without traiting. The starter maps are a breeze. The next tier maps are a bit tougher but having gear at level sorts that out. By the time a player gets some of these maps done they’ll be at 30 (or should be).

Probably not so underpopulated but more uninterested or apathetic. As my server seems to be since some of the more energetic people transferred out.

ArenaNet will add and priorities what people want and the forums help them see that.

That’s not what I said. If you understand the situation of needing only 1 legendary of a kind for it to be available in the wardrobe, you may get that having 2 of 1 kind (2 incins, 2 sunrises), will for me feel like a huge waste. That was the point.

TwilightStorm you still have six legendaries while I have no legendaries. Amongst my weapons, none of them will even look like legendaries, whereas not only will all of your weapons look like legendaries but many of them will indeed be legendaries. Even the fanciest Wardrobe system can’t close that gap. You totallywtfpawn me at legendaries.

I would love nothing more that the removal of the players ability to stack but that really is up to the developers to do. You cannot blame the player for using the easiest way through content.

True comment. I was stacking in Daoc (that’s pre-WoW for those who don’t know) and that was with a trinity. We were still able get to that easy stage, and it was still boring.

I think the point is that no matter what Anet do the players still won’t group or communicate or organise in general like you’d expect them to do in an MMO. There is a lot of that but there is a vast amount of selfish play and solo play. Which can be seen in any MMO I’ve ever played. Not everyone wants to group.

Which community has unanimously agreed that something particular needs changing? I doubt if the GW2 community could agree that the sky is blue!

Leaving aside the OP’s hysterical anger for a moment, if I have Blacklight or Flare on all 41 of my characters (I don’t btw) I’d like to think I’d be getting something a little more than an Unidentified Dye for each. I’m not one for freaking out about refunds or compensation but it doesn’t seem quite right.

Except you didnt lose that dye, you used it and you have used it for x amount of time already, now all your toons get to use it and you get new unid’ed dyes in return for the extra ones.

Leaving aside the wisdom of purchasing dyes with real money, which I personally find mind boggling, you got what you paid for, a chance to get a dye. Now you get a greater benefit from those dyes, at least, that’s how it is for me but I’m one of those people that has an Abyss, Celestial and a few other high value ones spread out over different toons, none of which I ever paid for with real money.

I think a fair few of us are in the same boat.
