Doh! I missed the OP. This one is going to be bothering me all day now.

Great. Thanks for the info.
This purchase would be better spent when I reach max lvl than.
Good to know.
Absolutely. I’m loaded up on skins waiting to be used at 80.
Would you like some hard cheeze with your sad whine?
The first use should still be for free after you buy it as they will be skins sitting in your inventory. Using the unlocked skin later via the Wardrobe will cost you charges.

I’m not quite certain what seems off about human males.
Because they all look like they belong in a boy band!
I’m not sure One Direction would have this guy.
He looks Norn. Maybe he’s part of a boast band.

I hope your names were fairly unisex. I saw a guy that had sex-changed one of his characters and it had a very rugged male name. Looked weird that Kragnar the Baby Eater ( not the name btw) was wearing a ball gown and had pigtails.
He changed it back after a couple of days.

You need full ascended in order to be competitive in this game. It is a horrible, expensive grind. Just wait until you see legendary armor!
No, you don’t. Nobody genuinely knows or cares what your armour is unless you’re constantly faceplanting Arah story in nothing but your undies or something silly. Nobody is currently demanding that teammates ping their armour before pressing on with a dungeon, or WvW or any other part of the game.
Well, I prefer to maximize my effectiveness in WvW and refuse to be at a stat disadvantage against other players, so ascended is a must. If you don’t think gear matters, feel free to throw on some greens and do the content because gear doesn’t matter right?
I understand the min/max mentality that you have, as have seen it in lots of mmos, but there are tons of people in this game who do just fine and are very competitive in all phases of GW2 in ‘just’ exotic gear.
That’s your opinion, which is perfectly fine. I just dont’ know why you think people should agree with you since it’s just your opinion.
People shouldn’t have to agree with him but, amazingly, they just do anyway. It’s incredible isn’kitten

I just went into my Account to have a little look at this mobile authenticator and noticed that 2 hours ago I was logged in from an address in Texas. That’s a fair way from house here in Australia. I immediately disconnected it but maybe I should have taken note of the details.
There is an anomaly that sometimes shows the IP address of the forums in your account security page. That’s just ArenaNets forum IP address. Nothing to be concerned about.
Whew, thank you! It was only a very mild freak out, nothing was missing.

I was wondering where you got the leaf skirt from until I had a closer look. Very nice.

Any character that existed before the patch doesn’t need to run around and collect any of the old traits, just the new ones. I’m leveling a warrior who was 29 at update time and he hasn’t has had to hunt around for his traits.
Oh I see, so if I keep levelling this guy when he hits 30 he will have access to all those old traits again. Guess I was wrong then, kinda hard to tell at lvl 20ish since I can’t set any traits until 30 lol.
Yep. I stopped my guy at 29 just to see what it was going to be like and he hasn’t had to do anything special yet. I’ve even forgotten to put the traits on when he gets them!

Looks like he needs a feed. Does a lot of running does he?
Your Asura looks interesting.

There are Worker NPCs in there, some of them busily hammering away where the portals are going to be. Were you looking for salvage boats, cranes, Charr steamdozers? It might be nice if there was a bit more but there is something going on.
I’d like to repair stuff as well and I’m sure other players may also. Is that where you’re going with this?
(Hmmm, partial ninja credit to Teon for me being slow.)
Would you like some hard cheeze with your sad whine?
Both. I like what they did with the LS and I’d like to see what they’d do with an expansion.
Would you like some hard cheeze with your sad whine?
I hope that they add a bit more replayability to the next iteration. A nice (IMO) compromise might be for future LS episodes to have special or unique rewards tied to the initial run while implementing the story in such a way as to allow it to continue to be played.
How about this: opening up new areas as the story progresses. Some time after their initial release, which could still include temporary events and the like as we’ve seen in season 1, they could fill them out with ‘aftermath’ events and other stuff relating to the developing story. A bit like the way explorable dungeon paths relate to the story dungeons.
Seems like a best-of-both-worlds approach.
Absolutely. I thought that’s how LS1 was going to be, in fact. We’ll find out soon enough I suppose.

The Living Story was fine. If you people who couldn’t find the time to participate often because of Life, and are going to whine about it, need to examine your priorities. Anybody who didn’t play much during the season because they think GW2 is meh and were playing/doing other things instead, and are going to whine about it, can have a bunch of tough kittens.
Until we hear otherwise then the Living Story is going to be what GW2 is all about. In one form or another.

Finishing a Marionette platform stage with only seconds to spare, including the fifth stage once. It was a pretty awesome feeling to be a big kitten hero for a little while.

Also have mapchat off, since my first trip into Queensdale after the update. If anyone wants to talk in /say then great but otherwise I have no problems missing out on champs or anything else that might normally have been interesting.

Plus, since it looks like you’re playing a Norn you should be spreading your legend to every corner of the world. All must know and hear about it ad nauseam!
Would you like some hard cheeze with your sad whine?
That is pretty nice. They’d changed it before I started.
And I just lay back and listened to that first piece of music before I posted, as well. Favourite all time piece of game music.

I have a sword warrior and he isn’t too bad. I run him around Orr and he hacks away at the evil dead quite well by themselves or in 5s and 6es. Grouped with someone playing a 2hander though I feel he’s below what he should really be. So, yeah.
I have a shield guardian and she saved the day during the Marionette, and other events, more than once so I’d say they aren’t in a bad spot. I’m not an awesome player but I get a decent go out of her.
I’m embarrassed to play my axe ranger in front of people…
I don’t have a dagger thief so I can’t really comment there.
The OP isn’t talking about using one-handed weapons in combination with off-hand weapons, they’re talking about only having the one sword, dagger, axe, scepter, mace OR a shield equipped.
Then maybe the OP can tell me that since only having a shield equipped would be dumb. I can’t imagine for a second that that’s what he means. He asked for feedback and I provided some.
Haha, I wouldn’t be so dumb. You can manage to attack while only using a shield man.
Go watch 300 or play a duel-shield-wielding warrior in Dark Souls.A shield Guardian would be OBVIOUSLY be targeted to defense skills, but still, you can kill stuff with a shield.
I don’t need to watch a movie or play another game. I’m out.

Just don’t use a Norn yet until you’ve gotten a feel for the classes. The Norn racial Skills are useless.
After that, just don’t make a Norn Mesmer. Trust me, I have one.
So have I and think he’s great.
OP, take the advice given but still keep an open mind. What works for others may not work for you, and vice versa.
And as someone who has just started playing GW1 I have to say that this is definitely a completely different game. Try not to forget that.

even a use all would be nice. I’m sick of all the clicking!
Oh and btw storing luck does reduce your potential drop rate temporarily. That is until you use the essences. The equivelent of 1% MF in your bank is 1% MF not on your account. The MF modifier is applied new to every roll.
This makes some sense, though I wouldn’t use the word “reduce” here. If I have 5% worth in my bank or pack its not taking 5% off my MF. Its just not adding to it. Its just sitting like a gamer in his chair, getting bigger and bigger, and doing nothing particularly useful
Would you like some hard cheeze with your sad whine?
How would you be potentially losing the opportunity for better drops? Just out interest.
I think Reave is talking about inventory space. If I have a bunch of low quality Essences of Luck, that’s two or so inventory spaces I can’t use for storing other drops. Although, for me, I personally haven’t had much trouble with inventory space since they implemented the ability to deposit collectibles from the inventory. But, anyway, I think that’s what Reave means.
Unless they add some other use for Essences of Luck, it’s a little silly to have to click on them en masse, or else haul them around until your artificer can combine them. I get the same satisfaction as the next player from clicking on powerups and getting a positive response, but it’s hard to justify the lack of a “use all” option.
I was thinking that, or maybe he thought that luck takes the place of something else. I don’t have much problem with having them stored either since they end up stacking in the bank until I get 250, then I roll them up to exotic.
And, a big YES to Use All.

I’ve given the megaservers a week now and I enjoyed the chat and population of the first few maps I went into while leveling my latest character (Diessa, Lornar’s and Dredgehaunt). Then I went into Queensdale and I’ve now had /map turned off for the last three days and it wont be coming back on. And as for world bosses…
I know there are plenty of people who like the megaserver but I can’t myself in that group.

The OP started this 5 months ago and I’m pretty sure he finally said his “good byes” yesterday. I wonder if he ever got one?
Would you like some hard cheeze with your sad whine?
Between this and the toxic chat in Queensdale , I’m seeing some very very poor attitudes from the gw2 community
I would stand my ground and defend the opinion that it is poor game design decisions to blame rather then people who are allowed to play how they want and to grief others by doing so.
Of course you would. Its not Anet being jerks, its players. Nobody is forcing players to be kittens.
people are there playing the game. The game tells them there is an event, “defend the temple” or whatever. People do. Also, if that has not changed, people can get very rare crafting materials as long as the temple stays “open”. So their interest to defend is at least as high as yours having the event fail. You rank trait unlocking higher because you need it. They prefer it the other way around. This is not griefing. Griefing is not “people don´t do the thing I want them to do”. The whole temple events have always been flawed from a game design view (better rewards from failing and redoing events), throwing the new GM traits in there made it only more apparent.
I didn’t say anyone was griefing, I said people were being jerks and its not Anet’s fault. As far as I know the OP was also being a jerk right back.
How the heck was I being a jerk..I was just trying to get my trait!
Reread that line and understand it bit further. I don’t know what happened there except people were being pricks.

I know there are other players that really enjoy map complete: Someone posted a year ago that their guildmate had 20 level 80’s all with 100% map complete.

Yep.
Actually, let me qualify that. I’ve done it once and it worked.

Umm.. you all realize that the Megaservers are currently only effecting the PvP Lobby, right?
No. Check your facts.
you are wrong
This new system will first be enabled in the Heart of the Mists and then progressively rolled out to the rest of the open world, starting with the less populated areas.
The order as well as the speed of the rollout may differ from what was previously announced in the original blog post, as we are adjusting our plans after further testing. It might continue to evolve during the process as we collect data and adjust accordingly.
So… When did they change this?
No idea but the cities, Diessa, Lornar’s and Dredgehaunt at least are in megaserver mode. They being the only maps I’ve visited so far.

Taken individually then Euro megaservers and townie wear are worse, and anything else is better.
In my opinion.

Good suggestions……thanks!….asuran warrior sounds even more weird than a sylvari warrior….lol…..sylvari thief sounds interesting, too
Crazily enough I have two sylvari thieves. One at 80 who was one of my first characters and who I enjoy running around, and one with a much easier build than the older that’s still languishing in the mid-40s. For months now.
I love my Norn flamethrower/turret engineer (prob not popular for groups), and my Asura longbow/shortbow ranger who seems to do well enough at WvW that that’s going to be his thing. Got a Sylvari engineer on his way up that’s going to do the whole thing shirtless!
I actually have no idea what people like in groups so i just make what I like and see from there

I think this guy came out well. My fire themed warrior. And from the character select.
Would you like some hard cheeze with your sad whine?
To me, the leveling process always felt VERY stale from about 40 or 50 until 80. (I have 7 80s, so I’ve done this a bit now.) I’m hoping that the new system makes that process feel a bit better, that all the traits (and hunting them down) gives me plenty to do.
I intend to build a new character and try the whole process from scratch. Anybody else going to do the same?
I think there’s a lot of criticism before people have had a chance to really take it all in and try it out. Give it a shot, then come back and complain.
Yeah, started doing it when they announced the trait change. Thought I’d get a headstart and get used to no traits early. I’ve just about forgotten what it was like before already.
Plus, i love the dual sigil equips, they made my weapons so much powerful now, especially the chance to do stuff on critical hits. Much more fun, and makes you feel sorry for the creature you attack (not really).
Omg, this! You know what? I never even bothered with sigils and runes before this update for lower level characters since they were pretty much just wasted (imo) but now…double sigils!!
