200 gems is $2.50 USD

in Living World

zenleto.6179

All this was announced while I was asleep so I’ve been reading about while having breakfast. I think my eyes were close to melting from reading some of the posts…

I think this is a great idea of theirs (in theory) and can’t wait to see how it goes. Purchasing a component that’s been missed for whatever reason, at such a cheap price, really seems to fit this game. Not in a bad way, either.

Also, something that I’d like to see; smaller transaction sizes available through the gem store. Paying $2.50 is nowhere near as intimidating to your wallet, compared to $10.

Also; will it be possible to gift Living World episodes to other players?

Ten bucks worth of gems is four installments worth. I think the beauty of this system is going to be, for people in your position, that the LS installments can be “saved up” if needed so one low tier gem purchase can open up a few missed episodes.

And Colin did mention the gold to gem thing as well, for those who do that. It all seems fairly win/win for many people.

Just wanted to let people know that Anet have patched this :¨¨¨/
DO NOT TRY THIS METHOD ANYMORE, IT WON’T WORK.
I can’t really understand how they could prioritize this? Many people still haven’t gotten their wvw chests afaik. With all the bugs in the game it seems weird to work on one that a big part of the playerbase actually enjoy.
This was a really cool “feature” that gave some more depth to the weapons.
I really hope the reason you removed this was because you are working on more nightime effects for weapons. Many of us clearly want this , make it happen!

Aww kitten. I was going to try this out on a few things. Wish I’d seen the thread earlier.

Why the Guild Wars 2 Internet Hate?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: zenleto.6179

zenleto.6179

The thing with GW2 is that it is different.

Players that didn’t like the differences from their previous MMOs, usually hated GW2 and then they go to the Internet vent their hate towards the game, while the vast majority of the players that like GW2 just play and doesn’t show their affection on the Internet, at least that is how I see the current scenarios.

That is why you see bad comments only in forums and some community opinions, but bigger sites you hardly see any bad article about GW2.

Looks like the exact opposite from my point of view.

GW2 looked like it was going to be very different. Players that didn’t like their previous MMOs had a lot of hope for GW2, but shortly after launch ArenaNet decided to please the small group of people who wanted another status quo MMO, and abandoned many of their core design principles in favor of trying to keep as broad an audience as possible.

The reason the hate is strong is that many people who don’t like the game in its current state really loved what it was at launch, with all that it promised to become. Instead of just moving on to another game, they keep holding out a think hope that ArenaNet will return to their original vision. That hope, stretched out over an increasingly long time, and fed with small crumbs of occasional positive game changes, leads to a smoldering bitterness.

This is only magnified by ArenaNet moving from clear, bold communication about their hopes for the game to a policy of secrecy, and vague statements with room for a lot of interpretation. Any community dealing with the uncertainty caused by that kind of communication from its leadership is going to grow resentful.

Perfect. Might I also add to this discussion that it’s not whining to expect a company to fulfill it’s goals on a product, it’s called an expectation of professionalism. All of these people who trying to marginalize what people are rightly complaining about aren’t helping they are most likely the niche group you are talking about who asked for the very things we expected this game not to be, and having received what they wanted are attacking those of us who purchased the title because it was indeed supposed to be completely different than what we had seen before. Sadly it didn’t turn out that way. Now many of us are hesitant to buy anything else from the publisher because we’re afraid it will happen again, so we sit by the sidelines watching the launch of another product to see if they do some of the same things.

You can not be serious! There are threads on this first page that are so full of whiney lose that I’m surprised we can’t physically hear them. A complaint is one thing but going on and on and on and on and on…. You get the idea. If these people were doing it in a room we were in they’d be left alone after just a few minutes.

All of that to Just say:

“if I can find a way of trivializing legitimate complaints, then that means the problem is them..Not the game.”

This is the discussion version of " Oh ya..well…your hair is a mess, that makes you wrong!! ha!"

No, not really.

GW2 players who get GW1 just for HoM points, what rewards are appealing to you to invest so much time in another game for? Have any of you got the game just to try to get GWAMM? If so, how much research did you do before deciding it’s for you?

For anyone who got the game just for the GW2 rewards and completed their goal, did you think the time involved was worth it?

I did plenty of research first and thought about it for maybe a year before getting it. And the time its taken me to get where I am with HoM points has been worth it so far.

Having played just about every MMO and RPG out there, this frail, aging 44 year old gamer still finds that to this day, there are only two online games that he has given his most time to, World of Warcraft and Guild Wars 2.

I gather you never played GW1?

The problem is all the very best parts of GW1 was left out and this has upset the dedicated GW players that put in over 7 years playing.
if you haven’t tried GW1 grab a copy and see what all the complaints are about.

I will say GW2 is a great looking game with alot of potential to be the very best, but you will understand the quote " if it ain’t broke don’t fix it" , and I am afraid the current direction has broken what GW’s is and was to alot of players.

cheers

Activity cheating for Achievments

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: zenleto.6179

zenleto.6179

This was never a problem before the combining of PVP with the rest of the dailies. Reason was daily activity was always on the dailies list. I whip out my dailies fairly fast now maybe just add this daily and one more everyday. Arnet used to think using the mystic forge was helpful for reducing number of items add it somedays. Maybe bring back more of the normal dailies rotation and make it 6 of 6.
Alternative there is a monthly recycle achievement so no need to have both it and recycle every day. Make doing activity on the list every day like recycle is now.

People have always played kegbrawl like that. It’s got nothing to do with dailies and everything to do with lazy players.

It’s amazing they can organise themselves to do this and can’t deal with the Boss Blitz or Marionette.

Season 2 and Trahearne

in Living World

Posted by: zenleto.6179

zenleto.6179

Trahearne was a scholar who was pretty much forced to become a soldier. I dislike commenting on the writing for a video game since I don’t know how difficult it is to match it to the game but I think Trahearne’s heavy reliance on our characters was quite weakly portrayed . If they’d shown his anxiety and fear a little more then it may not have been such a problem for people at the end. I remember reading on the forums once that the personal story ended up being rushed so to be ready for the game release. That could explain things.

Anet knows people’s views on this so if LS2 goes along this vein then they will have tightened things up.

If it was subscription then I’d be right there with you. I still shudder at how I thought about “wasting time” whenever I was standing still in a sub game. But maybe cheer your fellow Pavilioneers on, or go do some Gauntlet.

I don’t really have any hard answers. I guess its just down to how an individual player feels about it. I also just stand around after the Flying Dollys when I could actually be hunting down more crystals. There’s players in this game that like to stand around and chat so….who knows?

Doing the gauntlet reset my credit for the events as if I’d left the zone and I didn’t get a chest for it, so that’s a no-go. Also, time is wasted just as easily in a BTP game as it is in a sub game. Time as a currency is different than money. Related, but not exactly the same.

OP, I don’t know who you are and I don’t care what your reasons are. If you don’t like the game then just leave, if you have better things to do then just leave. If you want to tell Anet then send them an email or write them a letter. This sort of crap is nearly as bad as gold seller spam.

And threads about gold seller spam.

Actually these “Goodbye” threads carry weight and have meaning. Though I imagine you and ArenaNet would rather sweep them under the rug and hide the fact that players are leaving the game for good reasons.

Players speaking to ArenaNet:
“You have been weighed,
You have been measured,
and you have been found wanting.”

I’m sure they do carry some weight but, as proven every time, they do very little to foster any sort of worthwhile discussion within the forum community. Or in game for that matter. I’ve seen “I quit” announcements in map chat that degenerated into even less constructive discussion than this thread. All Anet need to do to get feedback from leavers is send them a questionnaire after a certain time. If they want to respond then good for them.

And, since you can’t possibly know me or my motives, you might want to keep your opinions on what I want to see to yourself.

Looks like they do listen.

No no they weren’t buffed. It was a bug lololol :P

Love how fixing a mistake = bug fix now lmao

Its an adjustment, not a bug fix.

Fire up the Hyperbowl ma, we’re going to town!

Would you like some hard cheeze with your sad whine?
