Its engine problems and server, not client.. i thought people understood that.

the culling is engine base code

I had ALL your problems and were running at 30+ fps at ultra settings

you are the 1st that really knows about what i`m speaking..

This has been discussed many times in the tech section wherein the proposed solution is “to get a supercomputer”. LOL

But the true solution is to optimize the code – any computer (super or whatever) will simply be brought down by problematic instruction sets.

Mine runs the game just fine and do you really think they will optimize the code?
If they do optimize the code what would be a realistic performance increase 20%
That means if you get 15FPS right now in big WVW zergs you would jump up to 18.

1st of all i wanna ask the team from anet what Uber computer should i have just to www???!!!! because tonight while i was in www ( sos-bg-jq ) i couldn`t see anything ( except when i was dead already )
2nd please upgrade ur servers beacause there is a delay on spells (ex: i heal.. after 10 sec )
3rd i`m not having networks problem of any kind.. my comp has 1 year old and in the rest of the games my proc doesn`t go over 50% of loading..

i`ll apreciate a true answer to my question .. what are your specs that u want us to have just to be able to play in www?!?!?!?!!? btw my video card is Ati Radeon 6850 hd.. and when i`m in www i`m playing on low just because ur servers are TO BAD!
sry…that`s the truth.. and yeah IS MY POINT OF VIEW…

Your slow outdated CPU is most of your problem.
Might be time to come out of 2008 and update your PC. The i7 920 is not made to game with and really slow at todays standards using what 1066 or 800MHz ram. 6850 video card is decent low/mid level gaming card. Most games still use directX 9. Had to LOL at the 1000 Watt PSU for a PC that draws about 320 Watts maxed out. (that’s the most overkill I have ever seen)

This was a joke right?
CPU Cooler: Rosewill RCX-Z90-CP 62.5 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler
Get the coolermaster hyper 212 EVO as above posted.
The case you picked only comes with one fan.
You have no CD/DVD Drive.
The SSD is nice but if you are not going to reuse your old drive you have way to little storage. Also the SSD is perty much wasted $ that will have no ingame performance gains so it’s a luxery that would be better to use the $ for a better video card.
Decent power supply but I would also as above poster said up it some just so as it ages you still get pleanty of power.

Hi, i have an M11x r3 (specs Intel Core i7-2617M @ 1.50Ghz 8GB of ram, and an Nvidia GT 540m Graphics card, with optimus). Whenever i log into the game, WvW and PvE my fps is 20 and under, with weird frame spikes. I have changed my settings from medium to low with same results. I’ve seen videos of people with this same laptop, with a Core i5 running on medium with 30-40 fps. Does anyone know what to do to fix this? (P.S. I can play Borderlands 2 at high settings with 30-35 fps).

No need to put a PS for anouther game it’s not this one your processor will not run this game good your actually under the min specks.

Oh, support and me go waaaaay back. They offered all kinds of advice—none of which worked—and in the end just said:

“Thank you for getting back to us. Unfortunately I do not believe this is an issue with the game but something with your setup, as such nothing a patch has to offer would resolve it.”

I even had my best friend —an IT pro--go over my system with a fine tooth comb. In the end, he exhausted everything he knew and suggested that I upgrade to Win 64, because there just was nothing else he could think to do.

This guy did enough IT to build his own house, so don’t even try to tell me he is unqualified to give advice.

What did the crash log say (out of memory) ? If you have nothing running on the PC no background programs at all then the 3.3 GB you can use with 32 bit should be fine. upgrading to 64 bit with 4GB of memory your are just going to gain what .62 GB or something like that. Open windows task manager and see how much memory your using with the game running. Make sure to set your antivirus to run scans/update when you tell it to not just whenever. Same thing with windows looking for updates.

So I’m building a new minimal gaming rig. I’m sure that the computer would be able to play it but to what degree would it be able to is my main concern.

(I’m terrible at typing specs in an orderly fashion but I’ll try.)

3.3 six core AMD processor
8 GBs of DDR3 Ram
1 GB of DDR3 Graphics card
120 GB SSD
500 GB Internal Hard Drive
450 Watt power supply

Any other information needed to possibly get me an answer please feel free to ask.

First your wasting money on a SSD that you could be using to add to performance. Bad choice of processors to game for this game I’m guessing its one of these
AMD FX 6100 6-Core Processor
AMD Phenom II X6 1100T Black Edition Thuban 3.3GHz,
Unless you already have the AMD motherboard I would buy a i3 3220 over the AMD processors and in that case I would get the fx 4170 and use 1866 MHz memory with it.
The 450 Watt PSU is not to low you could run a 7850 video card with it just fine IF your buying a quality powersupply and not a cheap overrated one. A quality 500/550 would give you more head room.
The video card I would not even think about buying you could add the $ for the SSD to that price and buy a good card. You can always add a SSD later as it will give you no in game performance increase. With that video card and settings to best performance I can see 30/40 FPS just playing the game and maby 15/20 in large events/WVW zergs. (but these could be unplayable also)
Whats everything costing you and are you reusing old parts if so what.

Here’s my system specs, is there any reason I’m not able to get high FPS even with the lowest settings? It’s certainly playable, but if everything is turned down to the lowest possible setting I feel I should be able to exceed 60 fps, which at the moment is proving to be quite challenging.

Operating System
Microsoft Windows 8 Pro 64-bit
CPU
Intel Celeron G550 @ 2.60GHz 67 °C
Sandy Bridge 32nm Technology
RAM
4.00 GB Single-Channel DDR3 @ 533MHz (8-8-8-20)
Motherboard
MSI H61M-P31/W8 (MS-7788) (SOCKET 0) 28 °C
Graphics
S220HQL (1920×1080@60Hz)
AMD Radeon HD 7800 Series
Hard Drives
466GB FUJITSU MJA2500BH G2 ATA Device (SATA) 47 °C
466GB Hitachi HDS721050CLA360 ATA Device (SATA) 47 °C
Optical Drives
Microsoft Virtual DVD-ROM
Audio
AMD High Definition Audio Device

If this is your motherboard and you have 64 bit operating system this would be a big time increase.

Desktop - Ultra Settings

zerk.9701

I have been playing GW2 on a 2-year-old gaming laptop. It has served me well, but I am looking to upgrade to a desktop in order to crank up the settings to the max.

I have never built a computer, and I am kind of a tech noob, but I have been doing some research and this is what I came up with on ibuypower.com:

Processor – Intel® Core™ i5-3570K Processor (4x 3.40GHz/6MB L3 Cache)
Processor Cooling – Corsair Hydro Series H60 Liquid CPU Cooling System – ARC Dual Silent High Performance Fan Upgrade (Push-Pull Airflow)
Memory – 16 GB [8 GB x2] DDR3-1600 Memory Module – Corsair or Major Brand
Video Card – NVIDIA GeForce GTX 670 2GB EVGA Superclocked – Single Card
Motherboard – ASUS P8Z77-V LX
Power Supply – 750 Watt – Corsair CX750
Primary Hard Drive – 120 GB OCZ Agility 3 SSD – Single Drive
Data Hard Drive – 1 TB HARD DRIVE — 32M Cache, 7200 RPM, 6.0Gb/s – Single Drive
Optical Drive – 24X Dual Format/Double Layer DVD±R/±RW + CD-R/RW Drive – Black )
Case – CoolerMaster Storm Enforcer Gaming Case – Black
Operating System – Windows 8 – 64-bit

Cost: $1352 (+ $75 shipping)

I compared the price to buying parts and building on my own, and I did not see much of a difference. I would rather pay a few extra dollars and have it come assembled.

I am wondering if this would be enough to run GW2 on max settings with consistent FPS of 40+. Or on the flip side, is it a bit overkill?

GW2 is currently the only game I play, but I am planning on dabbling in the re-release of FFXIV as well.

Critiques, suggestions, personal experiences welcomed!

Upgrade the memory from the Corsair or major brand to a brand name or you will get the cheapest kitten they can have made for them and I really dislike the OCZ SSD. Also I would stick with windows 7.

Hi Siladius.6452

I would take any advice about replacing your entire computer with a pinch of salt. Your PC isn’t as bad as others may want you to think. I personally have the 2.8GHz version of your processor and 4GB of ram also. The biggest difference between our systems is that I have a fairly beefy graphics card to accompany my processor.

Now I am overclocking my CPU so that I can get the best frame rate possible from my system whilst playing World-vs-World. However at stock speeds I could easily play this game with 40-60fps in a mixture of medium and high settings (mostly high textures) in PvE mode. If you cannot afford to buy a new computer then adding a dedicated graphics card to your current one could be enough to play the game in PvE 30-45fps on low/medium settings. Overclocking my CPU has turned my system into allowing medium settings + high textures and shaders (including SuperSampling) at 50-60fps.

This would depend on the graphics card you chose and you would certainly have to do a bit of your own research as your computer would perhaps also need an upgraded power supply to handle the addition of a dedicated graphics card.

A new power supply may also unlock overclocking potential (depending on other hardware such as motherboard) which would also help your FPS in game.

So like I said, you do have options available to you, and I would certainly take caution of any advice giving on these forums because I certainly would not say that you absolutely had to buy an entire new computer just to play this game.

^^^^ This if you have about a 300Watt power supply this would put you in the game playable $50 or $40 if you get the rebate. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102994

I see wasted $’s in both builds are you building these or buying somewhere if so post a link to the seller of the PC or parts.
Now to answer your question Ultra is perty much out of the question in WVW unless you mean ultra with shadows turned to low. The 2nd PC will last you longer without upgrading, when your processor needs it you can overclock it, alot better video card.
With the 1st PC video card will need upgrading before long (year or two) and when the processor will not cut it anymore nothing else would be a good upgrade as this is the last gen of the 1155 socket so that would mean a small upgrade to the processor or new motherboard and processor again.

I would say not anytime in the next year or so with all the people with crashing problems and bugs I dought their even working on it. If you have a AMD CPU it’s probably not worth the trouble but with a Intel chip it would make the game playable if you could get near 3.0Ghz.
