Path of Fire Stress Test August 31, 2017

skullmount.1758

Here’s some additional information for you:

The developers intend for the test to run a couple of hours and they hope to enable the elite specs. One of the advantages of our release system is it has a great deal of flexibility so it depends exactly on how our internal ‘pre-testing’ goes as to what will be enabled.

As far as whether you keep progress during the stress test, the answer is “No.” Characters will be reset for launch, as always.

Ok. thanks for the additional info.
Might be able to participate for a little bit if I head right home from work.

skullmount.1758

We will be conducting a brief stress test for Guild Wars 2: Path of Fire on Thursday, August 31st, beginning at 2:00 PM Pacific time (-7 GMT). Anyone with a Guild Wars 2 account is welcome to participate. To join the stress test, please log in to your Guild Wars 2 game account, create a new “Demo” character on the character selection screen, and head into the Crystal Oasis. Play as you normally would play, but because this is a stress test, be prepared for possible in-game performance issues as the testing takes place.

Thanks for your help!

How long is it going to last?

Why are hungry cats getting so expensive?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: skullmount.1758

skullmount.1758

I’ve been thinking about this too. The cat scavenger hunt is a bit like mini pet collecting – at first it seems like a fun bonus for casual players but the requirements have rapidly gotten more expensive and difficult.

Part of me thinks it’s just Anet experimenting – they’re seeing how far they can push it and when players will give up. Part of me thinks this was the plan all along and it’s actually building to something that will justify the effort (for people who like the thing) and part of me thinks they’re just making it up as they go along with no real plan and the cats, locations and requirements are just whatever they come up with at the time.

Having said that the blue catmander (the one that wants a Gift of Battle) isn’t actually as bad as it seems at first. I started playing WvW for the first time in a few years on Sunday evening, specifically to get the cats, and I got the Gift of Battle yesterday evening – it took about 6 hours in total and in the process I got the canned chili for the yellow catmander and the 100 skirmish tokens needed for one of the minis. So now I just have another 100 tokens left to get and having reached gold tier it should be quite quick.

I’m going to post a guide in Players Helping Players when I get home from work explaining how to go about getting it – aimed at total WvW newbies.

Wait, is there really a home instance commander cat for a gift of battle? I don’t see it on gw2efficency cat list and I don’t think I’ve read anything about it either. Simon is the last one on gw2efficency.

Mount was fun (needs more dye channels though (bottom half scales and horns/spikes?), and better ramp physics/pathing going up one).
Map was nice and open (could use some events in the middleish area?).
Tent heart was fun, raptor one was kinda (though takes more time).
Meta event would be nice.
Bounties are somewhat fun, if you can get a group doing them.
I enjoyed the sous chef and memory mastery points, they were different and were fun/nostalgic.
Make unid items excluded from salvage all? (with no invis bag almost salvaged them all).

I liked some of them, as they’re different minigames, but I just don’t like how tuned some of them are (even after they added some time to them). As long as they give you enough time to make a couple of mistakes (not a lot) and still be able to get gold then they should be fine.

PoF Demo - Feedback

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: skullmount.1758

skullmount.1758

Only two things that bugged me during it, with both being with the raptor. Not sure if its been mentioned (but it has to have been by now) but the raptor getting stuck on ramps was kind of annoying. Having to jump to just finish getting up ramps shouldn’t need to happen.
The other is a cosmetic thing, but would be nice if we could get it changed. I wish the raptor had more dye channels. only being able to dye the top scales kinda sucked. Would love for there to be at least 3 channels, the top scales, the bottom scales (currently stays brown/tan), and the spikes. Hopefully the other mounts get enough dye channels to really let us customize them.

One other thing I forgot about, it would be nice if the unidentified items weren’t included in the salvage all. During the beta I had to avoid using salvage all until after doing a heart and having it id them. I guess it could be a personal thing, since I guess I could put it in an invisible bag so that salvage all doesn’t find them.

Yes.

Thanks. Gonna buy it once I get my gems from the PoF order. Been waiting for a pass that can put us back to where we started (had bought airship and it just sits there doing nothing since I want to be able to return to where I started. And I doubt I can get a refund for it from support).

In WP post show he did mention that something like that was one additional mount they started (spider anyways), but scrapped it because the other people working there didn’t like it/creeped them out.
Would love for a spider mount myself though…

Dry Top already has a reward track. It’s called the Maguuma Wastes Reward track and the track rewards you with 2,650 Pile of Silky Sand and 300 Geodes according to wiki.

:( geodes have a reward track but bandit crests don’t. If only we could choose bandit crests out of the end chest of the SW reward tracks.

As for the home node, we can get one machete from the MoM achievement item daily, which would go really nicely with a home noxious pod…

Poll to remove Daily Achivement Cap?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

I would prefer the limit either removed or shifted out every year. As I read someone say earlier, they basically just removed one reason/compulsion to do the dailies (AP) and replaced it with another (gold/spirit shards), so they might as well just put the original reason back in too.
New accounts will never catch up on the APs either (to the people who are still at the top playing and getting new ap as it comes out), since they don’t have access to any of the old LS S1 achievements, so the cap on dailies is pointless.

Is this a joke? Upgraded BL chests.. I just got 1 ToT bag, 1 revive orb and 1 level tome. That’s even worse than before. :P

Yup.

While these changes help me actually want to get some keys, this is the big reason why I won’t still. They basically decreased the number of items you get out of the chest to 2, since the third is pretty useless season item (right now its a ToT bag)…

As someone wrote on reddit:

Sucks that you now only get 2 slots while opening the BL chest instead of 3 because 1 of them is a useless 6 silver ToT bag. Should be 3 slots + a ToT bag like it used to be.

location of crafting stations?

in WvW

Posted by: skullmount.1758

skullmount.1758

People who would craft would make people stuck in queues and give an advantage to an enemy. Once there was a queue of 25 and 10 people were in the crafting areas. It wasn’t pleasant.

Thats just Anets bullkitten excuse for removing them (instead of getting better detection/rules/analysis for getting wvw pop numbers) . There have been several people that have said they’ve never seen more than 5 at the crafting station area. I’m one of that used the crafting stations (in addition to a little wvw), and I’ve never even seen that many at one time over in the crafting stations area. If you want to blame any, blame the ones that afk at the spawn point, those are the ones that cause the queue, not the crafters.
And if you really want to complain about queues, destack from the top tier and see the glory of no queues in the lower tiers.

No achieve for all elite ascended weapons?

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: skullmount.1758

skullmount.1758

It probably isn’t included because it would be pay to win. It would require you to have a character of every class, which would require you to either buy 4 more slots, or level 4 characters to max, play through all of the story with them, and then delete the and start over completely

idk about that. There already is the cultural armor collection that requires one of each race (granted you have enough to start, though some would have to remake toons), in which, iirc, you have to be the race to even be able to buy the items. And finishing those achievements give more ap and title, so I don’t see why we can’t get something for finishing them all.

Survey on the WvW map queue

in WvW

Posted by: skullmount.1758

skullmount.1758

OP’s right. People crafting in WvW has never been a real problem. But if people are foolish enough to believe Anet has done them a great thing by removing it, let them live in their lie.

I can personally vouch for my time on Blackgate where we had a 35 man group that was the only group in our home BL and the map was queued. I waypoint to spawn and probably 15+people sitting at crafting stations or at the trading post. Basically 20+ people just sitting in citadel doing nothing for the server.

I’m sure a lot don’t want to sympathize since its Blackgate, but I have always seen 10+ around the crafting stations doing nothing for WvW in FA BL when I was on FA as well.

It wasn’t necessary to have in WvW and really had no place in WvW. They can craft in several places in the open world, they don’t need to craft in WvW.

Yeah, you definitely won’t get sympathy from me. You guys don’t want queues, destack the top tier(s). The numbers at the crafting stations has never been that many, so don’t blame them for the long queues.
And if it really is due to the few crafters counting towards WvW pop, then anet needs to redo their way of determining it. They should only be counting those that finish at least one event on the map (either capping something, the vet creature(s), or shrines/relics).

Survey on the WvW map queue

in WvW

Posted by: skullmount.1758

skullmount.1758

The problem was addressed by removing the unnecessary crafting from wvw. Go to lions arc or home city for all your crafting needs.

Nope. With OP. I’m just gonna start logging in my alt and just sit in the crafting area of the FA home borderland just take up a spot, not even going to try to get wvwrt points either.

Also it’s this same guy complaining in multiple thread daily about the crafting stations being gone from WvW. Go somewhere else man, no one here has any sympathy for it. Anyone who was crafting was not helping WvW players. You can go craft in Lions Arch where you’re not being detrimental to your home server.

Solution to queues is go to a different map. Only 3 servers have the power to queue all 4 maps on NA and they’re all tier 1, and they don’t even do it much outside of reset night.. If they do and you’re on that server – TRANSFER. Stop complaining about your own server being stacked, do something about it.

Anyone forging, using bank(s), or tp are also just wasting a space. We might as well remove them too, that way you only have the “true WvWers” on the map.

This change seems to cater to only the most “hardcore” and “serious” of WvW players. Just going to throw this out there: if you’re truly “coming prepared” for WvW, you won’t even be needing to stop at a bank in WvW before you get on with your very serious business, so the bank NPC in Citadel would be fairly unnecessary for the “hardcore” players. Real serious WvW players would be be stationed in a fully upgraded keep anyways, wouldn’t they?

Along those lines, both the forge and the TP should also, which I’m in favor of, since apparently the crafting stations weren’t needed either.

Plop those crafting stations in the PVP waiting zone. Same zone in and zone out effect as wvw but doesn’t actively take a slot from someone who actually wants to play the game mode.

Except HotM has just as long a load (if not longer, depends on time of day) than loading in to LA. Also, exiting mists (at leasts for me) tends to move me to LA (even though I don’t use the LA portal…) instead of putting me back to where I started.

Its not the silver thats the issue for us (at least me anyways), its the time factor. Some of us have long load times for the city maps, whereas the borderlands was a faster load. Theres also the time it takes to run back to where we were.

What is the reason of removing crafting?

in WvW

Posted by: skullmount.1758

skullmount.1758

Crafting isnt WvW, hence removed.

Yes there are PvE players who us WvW to quickly go craft and item, or use their bank to deposit or withdraw an item, then can then leave WvW and be back where they were before, without the cost of using a waypoint.

You can see how this benefits a lot of PvE players, but they then increase the WvW activity of that server by coming to WvW, even though all they do is go there to craft or use the bank.

If you still have problems with this, buy an Airship Pass!

Then Anet needs better way of determining the WvW population, because I doubt there are really that many that take up “precious” queue spots on any server.
And the airship pass is worthless. It doesn’t really provide any benefit. Crafting in WvW let us return to the exact spot we were in, where as either of the gemstore passes port you to a different map with no way of returning to your original position (other than wasting money waypointing and time running back from that waypoint).

Got to love how all these hardcore WvW’s think this is somehow going to give them the edge they need to win. I only ever see BL’s have to queue up once a week, an it’s only ever one BL at a time. The rest of the week it’s practically empty, meaning anyone banking, crafting, or even going afk isn’t really affecting much. Anet literally has smashed together different WvW servers to get map populations up, but sure “it’s those pesky PvE crafters that are ruining WvW, lets chase them out, because that will totally fix WvW’s problems”.

And sure, you guys may think those random PvE players jumping in to help occasionally are useless, but last time I checked, there was no food item or buff for carrying another +10-15 supply. So if WvW is absolutely only for the hardcore, enjoy burning more time running to get more supply to get siege weapons up.

What we have here as a discussion, is about a lost convenience for people that use GW2 for WvW and PVE. For those using only WvW, they impose their selfishness on a service that was not really affecting them, This is a myth., to be consumed by fools.
The real reason for the change is that ANet wants to make more money with their inconvenient airpass system.
For those WvW that only do WvW, you will get this, as a thank you note from many of those that play both worlds, we’ll come less often or stop coming.
What is your benefit: Guild crowds that will ravage your maps and much less peoples to defend and scout.
Scouting and fixing camp problems, killing Dolyaks, guards etc is a thankless job and is done often by people hopping in to clean the maps and restore services. This is what is being degraded here. So, full time WvW, let me tell you this: You will suffer from being so obtuse, sooner or later and I hope you enjoy your empty maps.
WvW is up for the Slow Death, as simple as that. Anybody doing PVE, knows very well that we can make far more gold and having far more interesting drops in PVE than in WvW. Anybody running any outfit needing traffic knows this basic truth: ‘you need to attract peoples for success, not make their life more miserable’. It is easy to understand that if one is in a spot, waiting for a dragon to appear for example and having some free time , that they use in WvW to clean their bags, to clean up a few camps and maybe a tower and go back to the dragon fight, as an example, they won’t bother to come anymore, this is what the short-sighted get. Same applies to commanders whispering for help, they will be much more likely to be ignored.

Can’t agree enough with these two posts. Have fun hardcore WvW with less numbers. I wonder how much longer it’ll be before they actual do server merges due to lack of populations.

The PvP lobby is to ‘close’ to LA to get crafting stations. You can just walk through the gate to get to the ones at LA.

It’s not hard to get to other crafting stations, but the WvW one was the only one that allowed you to keep your “place” in the outside world. Going to Lion’s Arch means you lose it.

Hence why we should have two things in exchange: Crafters in the Guild Hall, and the option to return to whence you came in the Royal Terrace and Captain’s Airship.

This. If they won’t put the crafting back into the home borderlands, then they need to either add them to the GH or make the gem items able to return you back to the same spot you used them in (currently, they’re a waste of gems, imo).
Anet, give us a week poll on whether or not the crafting stations should come back. I doubt the people crafting took that many spots from the queue, and if it was because of counting server population, you need to rethink how you count that. That should only be on those that get kills/events in the wvw maps and not just those that zone into it.

I’m am confused. What does putting crafting into guild halls accomplish? Why can’t people just craft in the cities? Why is this a problem? WvW is not for crafting, it is for WvW.

This is like complaining that you can’t drop an AC in Orr.

For most of us I think, its because of two things. 1) We could go right back to where we were on a map, no having to zone to a city and than back to a close (hopefully uncontested) waypoint and then run back to where were we. 2) Cities, for some of us, have horribly long load times, which the borderland did not.

Pls give us the stations back. We have and had never problems with ppl crafting at these stations and queue times on our server. Why not start a new survey for that? I think its just a small amount of ppl complaining about 2 ppl staying there. The big problem are ppl afking at the spawn when we really have a queue.

It isn’t just about Queues though. It adds to the numbers that determine which servers are linked and how much it costs to transfer to your server.

If they add crafting tables to HotM, PvE can access them just as easy and not offset the server population count.

Players can conveniently go to lions arch or home city for all their crafting needs…

Yeah… NO. Going to LA is not convenient at all, unlike the borderlands was. Besides the horrible load time, going to the borderlands allowed you to go right back to where you were. This wouldn’t be that bad if they either put them in the EoTM or if the airship/royal pass actually returned you back to where you were.

This will help servers in the long run, because people who go into WvW to craft count towards the server population. This may make a small positive impact on WvW servers that are full, but empty.

I highly doubt they count those that just go to craft. If they did, Anet needs to change the way they calculate it, because thats just stupid they only count those that zone into it and not actually do events. I bet they have the data needed to determine those that actually do something in wvw (either kills or events), so they should be able to weed out those that just zone in for crafting or using the portal to LA.

Is this just a t1 problem? It’s so rare that I see my home bl queued, and I’m in t2. And even when it is, I never see more than 3 people at the stations, and usually it’s none, or it’s someone standing kinda near them, but not close enough to be crafting anything.

Its important because they need accurate population measures for the linking.

Well they need a better way to determining the populations then. Base it on actually doing events in wvw. Crafter wouldn’t be doing events so they wouldn’t count. Done. No need to remove the crafting stations.

All this change does is make me want to just go to wvw and afk in the borderlands, just to spite those that support this change, but none of the maps have queues most of the time (I think only borderlands has a few times, and its never been more than 10 in queue).

Since they’re doing polls, why can’t we get a poll on this? It seems like enough people want them back, that it should be up to us to decide whether or not they get removed.

Guild Maxed at 500

I don’t think 500 is a hard coded limit, so there should be no technical reason why it couldn’t be expanded. Even if it costed 1000 gold to upgrade, that’s a 500-person guild’s daily 2 gold acquisition.

The limit may be there for the guild panel navigation/ui. It may become laggy or something if it gets more in the roster.

As an active WvW player I just want to say that this is a very welcome change. I honestly thought this thread was going to be a “YAY they removed crafting from WvW!” thread.
Getting active players on a given map is a massively important part of an enjoyable WvW experience. Even 3 or 4 more active players can turn the tides in a given tick. So if this change keeps map queues down by a few players this a great thing.

I know you might think “But I wouldn’t go into a map that is queued to craft.” But the thing is, a map population can shift in an instant. If the main force is on another map and needs to move to respond, a few crafters can actually hurt their servers.

I know it seems lame, but just know that there is definitely a benefit to this change
for a community that was feeling a bit neglected for quite a while.
I didn’t realize the other side of things and am sorry to hear that this has a negative
impact on so many people.

If you’re worried because of queues, maybe you should move to a lower tier.
Also, those spots may not even be filled with active people. They could be new players, roamers, afkers, wonderers, explorers, pve.

Good; less waiting in queues while fools craft in wvw

Guess I should log my alt in on my laptop into the t2 matchup and just afk there.

Same logic goes for the BLTC, you don’t need the tp in the wvw maps, you can still go and use it in the cities/other maps. And if you claim you need it for siege, theres always the siege merchant right there at the starting point of the maps, and theres a mystic forge there too if you need the superior ones.

What about consumables? You should not have to leave your place in the WvW queue to buy more food.

The provisioner thing from the wvw line. It may not be all the food, but its still lets you buy food/utility.

I think adding them to Guild Halls is the best solution. Quick load times and the same convenience without the risk of filling up a borderland with non WvW players.

This. If they’re removed from wvw it’s a giant hassle. I haven’t been to a town in months, especially Lion’s Arch and it’s 5 minute load time vs. 10 seconds in wvw.

Or add them to Heart of the Mists. Or something. Crafting in town is such a giant loadfest. Waiting 5 minutes to craft a single thing is obnoxious.

No, not “this.” Promoting people to congregate in towns (and even LA) is an obvious intention of this change just as much as stopping people going to WvW who aren’t participating in WvW.

Putting crafting stations in Guild Halls will largely kill the towns, and towns are where people should want to (and need to) congregate…. it promotes a healthier player base by encouraging players to socialize…. especially new players.

~EW

That may be a side effect, but for me it won’t be. I’ll still ignore the chat in town. Get what I need done and gtfo back to actually doing something.
And I’m almost in the same boat as Hesacon with the LA load time. I would rather at least be able to load into the GH and craft than have to wait for one of the cities to load.

With this change I’m even more inclined to not even deal with WvW anymore. If it wasn’t for the exclusive armors I wouldn’t even do the little I do anymore.

They removed them because they need to sell more Terrace / Airship portals (crafter = bank). Once I told myself “I would only buy Terrace if they removed crafters from WvW” … Aaaaaand it just happened. XD

At that point, you might as well just still go to wvw/pvp and then to LA (or use the guild portal if your guild has it), you’re losing your space either way (and it would have saved you gems).

They needed to go…. there are alot of places in tyria with those.

There are TP npcs all over tyria too, they might as well remove that npc from the borderlands too.

Yeah, I just read that in the patch notes. This just kittens me off.
I don’t get their logic in that. Might as well remove the tp and guild npcs as well. If we can’t use the wvw for crafting, then they should also have to go to the main cities to be able to use the TP and guild bank/vendors.

You don’t need to craft in WvW – save that for core tyria. However, you do need access to the BLTC and bank for accessing, trading, and using items in WvW (Such as superior siege blueprints, among other things)
