Unless someone has a post from Anet stating that they changed the drop rate, or some quantitative proof, you cannot accurately claim it as a fact that drop rates were changed.

I salvage a ton of rares every day. last year I couldn’t get rid of T6 leather and usually got a full stack of it every time I salvaged 300 items (my usual buy order cut off). The daily average on T6 leather is now between 30 and 75 for the same 300 items. It isn’t a consipracy, it’s a proveable fact. Still if you b/o your items there’s still a small profit involved even if you don’t sell back the T6 leather but rng luck plays into major rune in the MF.

Leather can not be collected from nodes like iron, wood or plants. That’s a huge misstep. Why can’t it be gathered directly from dead animals?
If they let us gather leather from dead animals the economy of leather would be normalized. It would also add one more harvesting item in the gem store for them to sell and increase the company’s income.

If they can’t add this within 1 year they have failed as a company.

Try this: Buy lv 80 leather rare up to 80% the value of Ectos, Mass salvage it all and sell ectos to break even(ish). Keep leather and enjoy the 100% price discount

Halloween Rewards "Candy Corn Gobbler"

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

smiling.9028

Even after multiple nerfs its still pretty OP to the point it sounds broken that it even exists. A stack of candy corn can net you 1-2 hours of of the experience and item booster along with the old karma booster and combat boosts.

This isn’t true. It’s takes about 3-6 stacks to see any kind of persistent buffs and the inventory space + planning that goes into it isnt feasible. Constant upkeep combined with rng on the buffs means youre going to spend as much time eating corn as you are farming and it takes the fun out of it. They have effectively nerfed it now and if they offered even a 25% refund I would jump at the chance.

I’m not the most savvy when it comes to all this hoarding and price fixing but I do know how to watch the trends. Doing nothing (A.K.A. hands off) seems an odd solution unless Anet has somehow been helping these hoarders/fixers up until now. No tinfoil hat, just a thought based on the information provided.

It’s also strange that the supply of higher value items (ie. Personal bankers) has risen since this post. Does this mean that this post is causing more of these items to be listed or is the actual number of the items increasing?

As long as it doesn’t stop giving us boosts. I enjoy the Karma, speed, Luck and Rejenerative boosts that i get from it.

The buffs are nerfed now and only last a couple minutes, by the time you stack a few of them some have already worn off. It was worth the purchase when they sold it originally but in it’s current form I honestly would return it for refund if given the chance.

But they leave several hundred post threads without an answer. The mods clear up and merge those 25 posts into one post. One post that a Dev can then post on. Or the dev can hit the “Create Topic” button.

And that one guy should not stop a Dev from posting the necessary information. The one guy who wrote a wall of text will still be angry that his post was ignored because no one from ANet responded to it.

And I never said they didn’t post anything on the forums. Just that they could do a better job of making sure posts that are made on Reddit are reflected in Dev posts on the official forums.

I agree that communication isn’t perfect in any sense of the word. I’m just pointing out that it’s unrealistic for them to respond to every players concerns even if they did nothing but sit here all day and reply. And that one guy shouldn’t stop a dev from posting but it will influence their decision on where to post if given the choice.

Same old rule always applies that it’s impossible to please everyone but I think Gaile is headed in the right direction by putting the relevant links and info in one thread and the debate on why it even exists on another.

I don’t have a problem with devs posting on Reddit when they see posts they can answer. It shows ANet keeps in touch with fans that don’t frequent the official forums.

What I have a problem with is information about things that are high talked about on the official forums going unanswered, but a thread on Reddit about it gets answered and no one from ANet even bothers to C&P the post onto the appropriate thread.

Many times the Devs DO post the information here in forums when they post on Reddit however they don’t post their information in ALL of the 25 different posts created by players about the same subject.

They also are more likely to respond to player who posts something like “Wouldn’t it be wonderful if we could dye weapons” instead of the guy who posts, “WHY THE KITTEN doesn’t Anet get off their Kitten and make armor dyes!?!?”

I agree that some threads get a very high response and seem like they are being totally ignored, but if I was the focal point of some of these threads and the anger included in them I sure as kitten wouldn’t want to dive in on page 4 because there’s always “that guy” who is going to feel like his wall of text was not recognized in my response.

@OP good for you and congrats! I’m always surprised how far people will go to belittle someone else’s work doing something they enjoy for no apparent reason. When we go play Baseball, Basketball, Hockey we don’t get told they are "no-life efforts and the final score isn’t considered a “virtual” item just because it isn’t tangible.

While I don’t share your enthusiasm for the JP i can see your efforts have brought you happiness and even some coin to put towards other goals. Because that’s what a MMORPG is all about to me, setting goals and reaching them

I agree, There’s almost no comparison between the fate of GW2 and Warhammer.

On a side note IF GW2 fails in the near future it will be because they continue to listen to the vocal minority and keep designing content that is a grind instead of a fun experience and continue to reward the elitist element with special tags next to their names and elusive gear.

Gold Limit annoying, please increase

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: smiling.9028

smiling.9028

NC Soft wouldn’t sign off on creating resources that track the transfer of gold between accounts unless there was an incentive to do so. Gold sellers consistently undercut the BLTP price causing an instability of their gem value so I am 100% positive this limit was nothing more than a measure to protect their revenue.

If small minority of players get their feathers ruffled in exchange for a more stable gem value and they can sell it to players as a form of account protection because it would limit and flag any damage to a compromised account immediately I wouldn’t expect a policy change to happen any time in the near future.

smiling.9028

It’s simple. Got out and earn points that enable you to earn more points. Then you will be able to do the same events repeatedly for days in order to earn currency that will enable you to buy more items to unlock things that give you more items.

Then run around and do things you hate doing because you earn achievement points that mean absolutley nothing, spend time in PvP to get a little number next to your name which you will think impresses people. Add a couple hundred dollars worth of flashy outfits from the gem store and you’re done.

You can now go stand around in populated areas looking cool while talking to others who think they are cool in map chat!

How would you react?

Log out, Uninstall the game and move on to a game where people cared less about how others play.

I have to laugh at players who brag that they don’t spend money in games and look down on those who do. I am in a fortunate position where i’m very comfortable IRL as far as money and my gardener and pool boy doesn’t seem to have the same attitude.

Expanding the PvP platform increases the younger demographic and in turn sours the community a little. But not enough to say it isn’t a casual friendly game anymore.

The majority of players wanted the change/fix on the scaling. Aside from the downtime (1hr) between Gerent events I think the zone is extremely fun to play as a whole now, Ajax has done an outstanding job listening to the players and deserves to be applauded.

Verdant Brink events not giving Airship Parts

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

smiling.9028

Basically, the way that Airship Parts are obtained encourages players to adopt a selfish and greedy playstyle

It’s somewhat similar to Silverwastes where you can do an event map to earn shovels/crowbars or go in at night and do a chest/crate run. I just wish the airship crates were up all of the time.

Selfish players can find a way to hurt the meta event to their benefit in any of the Maguuma Wastes/HoT zones and it’s going to happen. I see a lot of players doing quick hit and run type attacks on many of the divided effort events and there’s nothing that can be done about it. It’s just human nature for some people to stay just within the game rules to optimize personal gains.

Time to revert Maize Balm changes

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: smiling.9028

smiling.9028

In past years the BLTP has offered the Candy Corn Gobbler:

https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Candy_Corn_Gobbler

This was/is the absolute best way to get basically free buffs by mass consumption of very cheap candy corn.

I think Anet finally realized that players were not buying the BLTP buffs when you could almost get them for free from this item so they took a few steps to protect their income.

1. They didn’t sell the gobbler this year and i doubt it will ever be available again.
2. Nerf Maize Balms making farming of candy corn en masse impossible.
3. Create an item in game that would create a portal to LA anddrive the price of candy corn up by using huge amounts of it. (Rediculous because going to the pvp lobby and then exiting the LA portal does the same thing).

Removing the restrictions on maize balms now would be in their minds a decision that will directly effect their income on the bltp, so i don’t think it’s going to happen.

If I had a large guild and scaling were an option I think the best option for me would be to make a smaller sister guild, get a hall and have the larger guild donate items to build the smaller guilds hall until completed. Then just move everyone.

How could this be prevented? It would be an irresistable loop hole for everyone involved so I don’t see how scaling could work. The only way I can see it working is if they added a high cost to maintain the hall like coin+influence based on the level of development. And i guarantee you the complaints from everyone would be ten-fold more than the amount we have now if that happened.

(250 limit of each crafting component is torture by itself let alone the minimal bank tabs you start with.

If there’s any chance that Anet reads these posts I would love to hear the reasoning behind this mechanic and how it justifies discouraging so many from actively engaging in map events for any duration of time.

smiling.9028

I don’t understand why we cannot carry over our map progress if the server kicks you out to another zone or if you volunteer to change maps when it asks. For many players this loss of map progress wipes HOURS of effort.

Perfect example: With 200% participation the map announced it was closing and we had 2 options, move immediately and lose the completion or wait until it kicked us and at least enjoy the benefits for 1 hour. At T4 in TD about 20 of us were unceremoniously booted with no further warning into a map that wasn’t even T1.

This is broken and is yet another reason NOT to do Meta events at all. Aside from the nerfed or missing loot and xp, we also have to deal with the fact that any effort invested in gaining higher rewards can be stripped by a crappy automated system.
