Just a reminder and to be super clear: We’re offering a pair of tickets to 5 winners. We are not able to host travel, lodging, or any other costs.
If you’re local or can get to and stay in SFO on your own dime, please consider entering!
I do not use Reddit or Twitter. I will never use Reddit because I hate the website lay out. I will never use Twitter because I despise social media.
Please, for the love of god, barring bugs like you explained today, use your own websites for updates too. This has been a problem since this game launched, and it happens all to often that you guys communicate every where else BUT the very website you should be communicating from first.
I think I’ve already addressed this, but to repeat: This is the official Guild Wars 2 Forum, and we communicate often and with the highest priority here.
Looking at a personal history of 9,000+ posts and 3,200+ PMs, it seems clear we don’t engage that heavily elsewhere.
And now, we return you to your regularly scheduled forum by closing this thread as the subject has been fully addressed.

Update on the Mordrem Invasion Event — 1:45 PM Pacific 9/10:
Some of you have asked about rewards for defeating the Mordrem during their attempts to invade Kessex Hills, Brisban Wildlands, and Diessa Plateau. Here’s some info from the dev team:
(edited by Gaile Gray.6029)
BTW, I just tried to play one of the events in the second map (Kessex)… Couldn’t find it… I’m old…
I think if you use the overmap, you’ll see symbols for where the Mordrem are attacking. Quite honestly I’ve been too busy on the forums to check the game, but that’s what I was told by the key designer. I’ll try to verify and report back, but encourage you to watch the upper right for invasion messages and try using the overmap to see if you can locate specific areas of attack.
I will be posting on the subject of rewards within a few minutes. I’m just getting what I provide you reviewed, so you have the best information possible.
Needs hidden cat room.
It may already have such a thing.
We have no plans to add a jumping puzzle to the desert borderlands.
Update to add: While an early note was shared elsewhere, due to technical issues, the first detailed information was presented here on the official forums in this thread.
We’re making a couple changes as a result of the lastest testing.
We’re posting bug-related information about the Mordrem Invasion issues on this thread.
We’ll post event-related updates here as they become available.

I’m 46. I do not do Reddit. I was so happy to see an unexpected event today, but before I started I saw the posts here about the reward issue. Hey, no big deal, we all make mistakes and I’m sure it will be fixed through a patch very soon. Can you just please post status and update info here more often, instead of Reddit?
BTW, I love the game, it’s the only one I play.
I post here first, always. Unless—-as happened today — our forums have a glitch that prevents it. We are unable to log in for some time, although many of us tried. You may have had the same issue this morning, as well.
This is our official forum and my team and I treat it as such. Apologies for any confusion that the post on Reddit caused, but I weighed waiting for the forums to right themselves against the benefits of giving players needed information, and decided upon the latter. I’m sure, on reflection, you’d agree that’s the way to go when circumstances demand it. Fortunately, the official forums are quite stable and we seldom have to make that choice.
New information:
The NPC will remain, so you will be able to exchange your blooms.
Mordrem Invasion Update:
- Those who earned rewards and did not receive them will be given their rewards. This could take several days, so please allow time this to happen.
I hope the NPC that exchanges the blooms will still be there after those “several days”
And that is an excellent question! Thanks for asking — I’ll see what I can find out.
Mordrem Invasion Update:
We know that some of you are experiencing issues with the Mordrem Invasion Event. A few notes:
Thanks for your patience as we work on the resolution of this issue.

Hey everybody, this thread is meant to share screenshots of the event. If you don’t have screenshots to share, please post elsewhere.
There are plenty of other threads to leave feedback in, and if you don’t find one for the specific topic you wish to discuss, you are free to create a new one.
For example, from my WvW stress test time, I could figure out with the Mumble API that the Red Desert Borderlands is 1069, and the Green Desert Borderlands is 1087. No clue about the Blue one, since that one was inactive.
Be advised that the WvW stress test is a different branch and ids are not always the same between branches.
The color association is always the same. However, this is just an empirical assumption which has not yet been proven wrong by the devs.
The map_id => BL color is indeed mostly immutable
(edited by Lawton Campbell.8517)
Is there a way to accurately store character information on the back-end? /v2/characters seems to only return their names and names can be changed in this game. There’s no way for me to update changes on my site.
The creation date is immutable; I’ve heard that some people are using that as a workaround.
I made the mistake of relying solely on the “attributes” array and ended up with incorrect stats on the accessories because of this.
“infix_upgrade” contains an array named “buff” which has its own attributes in it… It looks like in order to get the stats on the site to match up to this, I’ll have to add those two arrays together… It looks as though I’ll have to write something to parse this out..
Because it’s one string I’ll have to split it by the newline character, then split only the first space (since some stats contain spaces like “Agony Resistance”) and then I’ll have to add these together to calculate their stat totals. Just a lot of stuff involved…
Yeah, I’m also very unhappy with the data returned by the /v2/items endpoint. Right now it’s a total mess. At some point I’ll make /v2/itemz or something to fix a lot of current issues, but it’s not currently a high priority.
/v2/characters feels as though it covers most personalized equipment information while /v2/items covers the “base” equipment. It’d be great to see /v2/characters also return chosen stat numbers.
The inventories endpoints are definitely going to return selected stats (and binding status) at some point in the future. It was a bit of an oversight on my part, sorry!
is it possible to add the Character ID (next to profession) to the PVP-Game-API? With only having the profession, there is no possibility to check with which character the person played, if he has more than one character per profession (2 guards for example).
Planning on adding that at some point in the future. This data is coming from the MMR component which doesn’t currently care about character names so it doesn’t have the data. Gonna take awhile to get all the good stuff (character names and builds) plumbed through the system.
- Do “Solo Ranked” and “Team Ranked” get added together for the “Ranked” ladder? If yes, what are the 49 “Ranked” matches, that are additional if you add “solo” and “team” together? Based on the raw data: (282+288+2+1)-(75+74+185+190) = 49. What exactly are the definitions of these ladders?
- Assuming that “solo ranked” and “team ranked” are included in the “ranked” matches, the aggregate number does not match up with the ladders number: (567+503+6+23+17)-(282+288+2+1+213+157+6+21+16) = 130. Are these custom arenas?
So, back in the days of glory there were two game modes — soloq and team (“solo ranked” and “team ranked”). These are distinct from the modes we have now — unranked and ranked. New accounts won’t have the former but old accounts have their old data still in the system.
AFAIK custom arenas are tracked in the other aggregates, but not in the ladders.
- What is the “none” ladder for?
I’m not entirely sure actually. I think it’s debris from a bug at some point.
Edit: While I am at it, the timezone offeset for the played matches seems wrong. The match I played a few minutes ago is dated “2015-09-10T18:34:54.000Z”, when it should be “2015-09-10T10:34:54.000Z” or “2015-09-10T18:44:54+08:00”.
Ick, I wonder where that’s coming from. Should be able to bandaid that sometime next week.
Looks like your EOTM incident is what got you. Our GM found you trying to attack someone from inside the terrain (the pipe you were speaking of). I’m not entirely sure how long you were in there, but I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt here. I’ve looked at the report and spoken to the GM and it looks like there was really no malicious intent here. I’ll remove the ban, but give the warning that if this happens my suggestion would be to waypoint out.
The forums is not a place to appeal a ban.
I’ll review it and see what’s going on.
(edited by Chris Cleary.8017)
This is an idea we had during development and was cut during investigation due to technical and messaging problems in both of the ways it could be implemented.
My guess: not before 23-10-2015 (well, perhaps a beta)
Yeah, the big issue is that the map tiles need to be regenerated, and the program that does that is a bit … interesting.
I’ll look into turning on /v2/wvw/objectives — it has actual data for both new and old (and even Edge of the Mists) stuff.
Can we start generating a list of potentially lost skin unlocks? I’d like to see if there is some sort of pattern.
We did a build yesterday that should have resolved most of these crash issues. Please reply on this thread if you are still experiencing a crash to desktop so I can get that information to teams.
Thank you!

Much to your dismay, Revenant’s do need a weakness.
I do agree each class needs to have a counterplay. Don’t you think that it also doesn’t have to be he should be virtually helpless against it though. Conditions are no longer like they were when the game first launched, they are now more prevalent, easily reapplied (in matter of seconds). Especially in PvP when virtually every classes do condi now, it means that non-Mallyx will be weak against everyone. I do think condi removal on legend swap should be increased to one, each legend should have at least one way to remove condition, be it a weaker one than other classes.
I don’t think that is entirely true, as an example engineers don’t run much condition removal in PvP as they have limited options similar to revenant, but still aren’t helpless in PvP.
Love the entries so far. Keep ’em coming!
And thanks for the GW2 love.
Will you be giving the flight to twitchCon aswell?
Operative words in bold:
Attention Guild Wars 2 players! We’re giving away 5 pairs of tickets to enable you to attend TwitchCon, Twitch’s inaugural convention being held in San Francisco, California, on September 25 and 26, 2015. If you’re local to the Bay Area, or if you can get yourself there, enter to win a ticket for yourself and a guild member, friend, or family member.
Thank you! I have patched these up
Anet will attend and show off something new about gw2 there?
Yes.
We’ve announced an opportunity for you to enter to win free tickets to attend TwitchCon later this month. See this thread for all the details!

There will be a fair amount of changes that I have planned and that have come out of the feedback from this last weekend.
What about rangers and engis? No elite spec announced yet and have only one BW left.
How will you handle the tons of feedback needed to make engi/ranger elite spec decent?^
RegardsRoy isn’t the developer in charge of the engineer or ranger elite specs. He’s only running the show for the revenant.
I’m involved with everything combat related.
The changes for revenant will be a lot of polish things, and little things from feedback. The only larger change so far is adjusting how mallyx skills work a bit so you aren’t frustrated when playing with support players who cleanse conditions. I’ll talk about all the changes when they are ready though, until then you’ll just have to #believe.
This has made me concerned for Ventari.
I think Ventari needs a large change tbh, the tablet is just too slow for a game with fast paced combat like GW2.
As it is right now, I honestly feel that Ventari is going to be that “skill set” that is never used just because of how clunky it is. Gives me Deja Vu of the Rangers mainhand sword, does awesome things, but just feels awkward.
There will be some ventari changes.
Thanks you all, means a lot!
Are these skin unlocks missing on your Beta characters or from your actual account characters?
Without more information I can only speculate. From the information you’ve provided; when you created your Beta Character from BWE1 we took the snapshot of your account then. During BWE2 you used that same snapshot.
This means that all skins that you unlocked between BWE1 and BWE2 will not be available to your Beta Characters.
Awesome feedback, thanks!
Glad you had fun!
We are looking into this issue, though I don’t know if we’ll get a fix in before the stress test is over.

If item is not present on TP but is craftable – it is soul/acc bound.
As a note, it’s probably better to check the SoulbindOnAcquire/AccountBindOnAcquire flags from the /v2/items response.
Is that the only way?
Currently, yes.
The API doesn’t currently provide vendor data (and probably never will — technical reasons). I’m not aware of any compilation of machine-readable data, though the wiki might be halfway there if it uses a template for vendor inventories.
It’s in the works but we don’t have an ETA.
Hello all!
Just a quick note to let you know that we are looking into these crashes. Thank you so much for the reports and the information.
Thanks,
Sarah

Hi all,
- Keeps will now mark enemy players within their perimeter, for the first 5 minutes, after being flipped.
Will this mark also apply to stealthed players? And if so, will it actually reveal them too, or if they are stealthed will you see the mark on the minimap but not the player?
The ‘Marked’ debuff will apply to a stealthed player, but the player will only be visibly marked on the map while unstealthed. We may set this debuff to also reduce stealth duration, but wanted to get feedback on the basic version first.

Don’t worry, it’s just bumped up a tad for people with darker monitors. Still looks very nighttime

- Fixed a bug where waypoints were available for a few seconds between repel events.
Can you clarify what this means exactly? Is this removing the “Spam waypoint in 5 seconds” stuff?
Yes, that’s exactly what that means.

Hi all,
The WvW team has been hard at work since the latest round of public testing. Most importantly, we’ve enabled the new and improved Guild Claiming feature for the test. We’ve also reviewed the massive amount of feedback from the previous test and made a large number of changes based on it. These range from large changes like adding health scaling to all objective bosses and updating the rules for rallying off creatures in WvW, to smaller changes like adding map markers for supply depots and rebalancing guards. I’ve included a full changelist below and this week, during the stress test, many of you will get a chance to see all of those changes in action!
Important note: The client you’ll be using to experience the Desert Borderlands map shares a few common backend systems with our normal live servers. Most noticeably, you’ll be able to see your live-game friends list and communicate with your guild in chat. Please note that if you leave any guild for Objective Claiming testing purposes you will also be removed from that guild on your live account.
