I like all the restrictions except for one….

Guildleaders already can control who accesses the guild vault….

So why are Free accounts locked out of this feature??

If i invite my friends to join GW2 then I want them to “feel at home” within my guild.

This is a weird limitation.. Just allow GuildLeaders to maintain full control of vault access like it has been for years.

Because it would create an opening for wealth transfer to and from those accounts.

Sorry I was so sceptic. I have just created the F2P account and it looks like everything will be fine. No bot spamming, no gold selling, no changes to major things in trading post. I really like it. The restriction for free players are not restricting them from enjoying all the aspects of the game…. and if they want to join the community, they can either level up their ranks and levels, or buy the game.

Bravo ArenaNet.

I just shared this post with the team. Thank you for looking at this objectively and for sharing your thoughts. As one of our team said, “We really did think about this a lot.”

Hey Karl, kudos to you and the devs working on this spec. However I noticed that during the stream impairing daggers cost initiative, is that intended?

just saw the stream again on youtube and it was Fist Flurry that used up 4 init and not the daggers, still it makes no sense that a UTILITY skill uses init…

Actually I think both imparing and fist used it. Most likely a bug though.

Had several changes go out this week. My internal data for WVW server performance shows that things are looking much better. There’s definitely still spikes when large fights happen, but things look more stable.

I’m continuing to make progress on some additional fixes that’ll make their way out in another release sometime in September. I’m focusing specifically on making things as stable as possible when there are several hundred players bunched up and beating each other up.

Anyways, I’ll update when I know the exact release the next improvements will go out

The amount of players under rank 20 who played in Ranked was pretty low, so it should barely affect queue times.

So instead of fixing queue times you’ve actually made them worse?

Brilliant.

Ranked will always have higher wait times than unranked because it has a smaller population of players. The only way to compensate is to make worse matches. This will be a different story when Leagues start though

This is an issue since i use the first link to check against my database for script auto update routines.

Hmm, weird. It’s either a cache coherency issue, or maybe I whitelisted something I shouldn’t have (items in banks and character inventories are now being put in the whitelist queue — been blessing them all day). I’ll track this down tomorrow — it’s highly likely that the fix will just be to remove those bad skins from the listing.

From a design perspective, Mesmers are more about providing fields and less about activating them. It’s not just blast finishers, Mesmers lack reliable sources of many other finishers too. Necromancers fill a similar role. By contrast you might notice that Warriors have lots of finishers but not many fields.

We don’t always get this balance right (and I think there is a different discussion to be had about when we don’t) but I hope that clarifies what we were going for in the case of Mesmers.

I can’t continue personal story after chapter 7 Forging the Pact.
“My Greatest Fear” should be next in line, but it doesn’t show up on the map or journal
what I tried:
- contacted support and filed a bug report back in June after the update
- contacted support again two days ago
- replayed Forging the Pact with other players for the chance to trigger the next step

Now it’s already been 2 months and my issue hasn’t been resolved and customer support didn’t help besides telling me to bug report it again and write in the forums.

Could you please fix this issue?

I’ve been tracking some reports and working with a few folks internally to figure out what’s going on with this particular issue. A screenshot and short description of repro steps would be helpful. Keeping it all in a dedicated thread makes it easier.

Do you remember at what point the story steps disappeared from your journal? We’ve had some reports where people have been able to keep playing but the journal entries weren’t displaying. Just want to get as much information as possible so we can investigate. Please post your replies in that thread I mentioned.

Which is what my account is also asking for.

I think that might be … glory? Which is marked as disabled, so it isn’t exposed via the endpoint. I’ll add in a blacklist next week so it doesn’t appear in the wallet.

Just released a handful of new endpoints:

Pretty straightforward endpoints, overall.

As per usual, the authenticated endpoints need to be passed an API key with the appropriate permissions. The key can be passed either via an “Authorization: Bearer <key>” header, or via the “?access_token” URL parameter. We don’t support CORS preflighting, so if you’re making CORS requests (e.g., from a javascript app) you’ll need to use the latter.

/v2/currencies dumps all the currencies that can appear in the account wallet. /v2/account/wallet lets you fetch (with the “wallet” permission) the contents of an account’s wallet — the ids returned are cross-referenced against /v2/currencies.

/v2/account/skins returns the list of all skin_ids unlocked by an account (requires the “unlocks” permission). The ids can be cross-referenced against /v2/skins.

/v2/account/dyes returns the list of all dyes unlocked by an account (again, with the “unlocks” permission). The ids can be cross-referenced against /v2/colors.

Let the fashion wars begin.

The fix to the hairstyle kits was because of a bug causing unintended behavior. As is with the case of bugs, they can cause a number of unpredictable behaviors, so it is in our best interest to fix them. Leaving this bug in-game could cause a number of unknown issues down the road.

However, if there are new hairstyle types, or styles not available for your character’s gender and/or race, that you would like to see in the game, please feel free to suggest them in a new thread.

I’m going to lock this thread to prevent it from getting too off-topic, but again, please feel free to create a thread to suggest hairstyles you would like to see added to the game.

There are a lot of bugs in the game and often times there are enough that we can’t get to all of them as fast as we would like. Duelist Discipline not applying to Pistol 4 didn’t get into my queue until after the cutoff date for changes to the 8/25 build. I’ve got it fixed for a future release though.

Hey all. Following up on what we talked about last week. Here’s a few more things that we’re looking at doing:

Longbow update

Deflecting Shot: The last time I posted, the note I had on this was a vague ‘damage increase’ thing, which met with fair opposition. We’ve had a little more time to look into the ability and have tweaked it a fair amount so that it can retain its primary defensive functionality and still reward you for reactive play. Here’s what we’ve got -

  • Reduced missile velocity by 25% (it traveled too fast to really block much). Reduced after-cast by 300 milliseconds. Increased base damage by 13%. Destroying a projectile with this ability increases the damage it deals by 100%. Increased the blocking radius by 33%. The attack radius of this ability has not been increased.
  • Symbol of Energy: Removed the burning on impact (no other symbol has an additional effect, so this felt weird). Increased damage dealt by 10%.

Virtues:

  • Spear of Justice: Increased missile velocity by 100%. Reduced the casting speed from 3/4 second to 1/4 second.
  • Shield of Courage: The shielding effect now occurs the moment this ability starts. Lowered after-cast by 200 milliseconds. We’re also looking into a better functionality for the shield.
    Where we’re at: Currently, you block all attacks for allies within the radius, but you don’t get any feedback for it… so we’re looking to improve that. The shield also doesn’t really benefit you, other than missile blocking (which is good, but feels like it should do more, being that you’re giving up instant casts). The current idea is to block attacks from the front (within the shield you’re projecting), but be vulnerable from the back to ensure counter-play.
  • Wings of Resolve: We’re waiting to see how the current implementation plays out, being as the ability has a greatly increased healing application and has access to 3 seconds of immobilize.

Traits:
There’s been some merging and creation of new trait types for the Dragonhunter line. There are now a couple of direct defensive options, in addition to some stronger power/damage ones. The goal here was to give different clear avenues (damage, utility, virtues… with some overlap)

Adept – Piercing Light: The bleeding effect only really benefited a couple traps, where we wanted the effects of this trait to enhance each one in the same way.

  • The bleeding functionality has been removed and will now daze enemies for 1 second when traps enter their ‘activating’ state.

Adept – Dulled Senses: Moved here from the Master tier! Enemies you knock back are crippled. Enemies you cripple receive Vulnerability. Reduced the vuln from 3 stacks for 5 seconds to 1 stack for 8 seconds.

Master – Hunter’s Determination: Drop a Fragments of Faith trap at your location when you’re crowd-controlled.

Master – Zealot’s Aggression: Deal extra damage to crippled enemies. Damage bonus increased from 7% to 10%. Justice’s passive effect cripples enemies (1.5s).

Grandmaster – Hunter’s Fortification: The area effect protection was bland and, while defensive, didn’t really portray the more selfish dragonhunter nature that likes to hold an advantage over their enemies. We’ve replaced this with a bit different defensive nature that’s also more synergistic with Hunter’s Determination.

  • Remove conditions when blocking attacks (1 per block, ICD 1 second). Receive 10% less damage when you have no conditions on you.

Grandmaster – Heavy Light: Merged the aspect of Hunter’s Determination.

  • Longbow arrows knock back enemies that are within the range threshold (10s ICD). Gain stability (1 stack, 5 seconds) when you knock an enemy back in this fashion.

Please keep in mind that (as before) these things won’t be in the next BWE, but in a future update. As always, thanks for your constructive feedback!

Hey, just an update for those of you who are worried about how long the kits will be disabled. I can’t say yet when, but I would like to assure you all that this is not something that will take weeks or months to fix and that the resolution for this is something that is being actively worked towards at this time.
