Makes sense to me. I’m currently rooting around in the achievement/account progress stuff, I’ll keep an eye out for how dailies work.

Now, after many months of tracking, an exact pattern still has not been found.

Looks like the rotation’s period exceeds one year :O

Thankfully, it looks like it might be straightforward to expose. Might have the endpoint out in a month or two (takes time to push changes through the release cycle).

Looks like it might be a cache issue between some of the backend servers — one server reports the item as having listings, but the listing server responsible for the item is tossing back “Unknown Item”.

I’ll ping the people who maintain that machinery.

So… /v2/items and /v2/commerce are backed by completely different databases. I guess technically /v2/items isn’t backed by a database, it’s backed by the .dat file. /v2/items also has a manually-maintained whitelist in it so it doesn’t spill the beans on everything; that whitelist doesn’t talk to the /v2/commerce database.

It’s possible that there are just items missing from the whitelist, or it’s possible that there’s just some weird stuff in the /v2/commerce database. There was a historical bug wherein users could place buy orders for arbitrary item ids regardless of their validity; I think that was all cleaned up but there might be some remaining detritus?

In any case, the inconsistency is a known fun bit that we’ll probably never fix.

I do. All of us on working on skills sit together, are all in the same meeting, etc. I’m involved in basically all things involving player combat. We always aim to constantly improve ourselves and our designs.

Roy, can you please explain the “Number of Targets: 5” in the tooltip? How does it work with the 1s icd?
Does it mean that we can get up to 5 stacks of might every 1s?

Number of targets is how many targets the skill or trait affects. In the case of this trait; it’s AOE might so when it happens so it would be applying might up to 5 targets depending on how many allies are within the radius.

in my case i ‘ve been getting the blackouts every 2 mins,the game is unplayable at this rate.i have also updated my drivers but no changes so far.hope we get a fix soon as i have already bought the expansion,it’ll be a horrible experience if this goes on.

This trait works differently then Phalanx Strength as that is personal applied might, this is any boon you apply triggers it. There needs to be an ICD since you can have many facets on at once pulsing out many boons, plus boons from traits. that would mean it would trigger multiple times per facet and with multiple facets active it would mean potentially like 20-25 might stacks AOE every 3s. If anything, we could tweak duration or stacks if it doesn’t feel good enough when you all get a chance to play it.

So I just completed the Greatest Fear chapter with Tonn and I noticed that for whatever reason the dialogue is muted in some places during cutscenes. This has also happened in some LS instances as well (in Dragon’s Reach part1 for me). Not sure how far this has spread and I’m hoping you can take a look at it.

This is a bit off topic, but I’ll address it.

I noticed that VO issue the other day in the Black Citadel and sent word over to the Audio team. If you find this happening again, can you create a new thread in the appropriate forum and attach a screenshot? We need to see the chat log output (or the text bubble for the missing VO) to get a repro. Thanks!

This happens in most personal story instances as well as cut scenes in dungeons. You can read the text but some of the vocals do not play. The strange part being the scene waits an appropriate amount of time.

Some advice courtesy of our audio department: See if moving the audio quality slider to Fastest helps.

There are no plans to add skills or traits which affect energy gain, upkeep gain, or energy cost of skills for the Revenant. These traits very quickly become mandatory choices as it means you can use your skills more often and in the case of energy, it would apply to all your skills since they all use energy. This is a dramatic increase in power across the board.

These kind of traits makes for less interesting choices and cause many problems with balance, often forcing skills to be weaker to compensate for the possibility of a player having all these traits equipped meaning they can use skills much more often then a player without them. But of course there will be balance on on energy costs and recharges of skills to make sure everything feels good and balanced for what it does in the toolkit of the revenant.

Greetings Tyrians,

Thanks for all the feedback on the Tempest from this last Beta Event! After poring over your posts and doing some of our own testing we’ve made some changes to address issues with Warhorn skills and Elemental Overloads.

You’ll be able to check out each of these changes in the next Beta Weekend Event.

We gathered from you that, on the whole, Warhorn skills felt decent even if a few felt undertuned. We’ve made the following adjustments to bring them more in line with other profession skills.

  • Cyclone – Increased damage by 20%.
  • Sand Squall – Now a blast finisher.
  • Lightning Orb – Increased damage by 36%.
  • Wildfire – Increased damage by 32%.

The concepts behind overloading an element were pretty well received, however you called out that the time cost of overloading compared to the final rewards were too unbalanced. Overloads are intended as potent tools which are not always available – to push this feeling each of them has been given a stronger effect to bring some more parity to the risk vs. reward of using them.

  • Overload Air – Increased damage by 30% and increased the radius of effect from 240 to 360.
  • Overload Earth – Increased damage by 50% and increased the immobilize upon end from 3 seconds to 4 seconds.
  • Overload Fire – Increased the damage by 20% and increased the duration of burning applied per pulse from 2 seconds to 3 seconds.
  • Overload Water – Increased the amount that healing power affects pulsed healing by 400%. Increased the final heal value by 50%.

Hail, all!

Now that the Beta Weekend Event has come and gone we’ve been firing away at various notes we’ve gleaned from your discussions about the Guardian Elite Specialization, the Dragonhunter. After distilling a lot of your comments we’ve settled on several changes for the next iteration of the specialization that should help address your damage, survival and versatility concerns while retaining the core of the new playstyle.

These changes should be available to you in the next Beta event.

A large chunk of comments we read centered on the new virtues being good, but not quite good enough to be left without the virtue passives. As we want to see you using them in the appropriate situations we tweaked each of these so that while the choice remains a trade-off, there can be more cases where the actives are used.

  • F1 Spear of Justice: Increased range from 900 to 1,200. Increased impact damage by 20%.
  • F2 Wings of Resolve: Increased heal value by up to 50%.

The longbow skills were generally well received, but Symbol of Energy felt on the weak side compared to the rest of the weapon skills.

  • Symbol of Energy: Increased burning duration from 4 seconds to 5 seconds and Vigor duration from 1 second to 3 seconds.

Traps were another area of concern that we’re addressing with the following modifications:

  • Purification: Increased bonus healing based upon level by 50%.
  • Test of Faith: Increased the damage multiplier on this ability by 20%.
  • Fragments of Faith: Decreased the duration that fragments remained on the ground from 15 seconds to 10 seconds. Increased the duration of the aegis granted from fragments from 5 seconds to 8 seconds.
  • Procession of Blades: Increased the base damage by 36%.
  • Dragon’s Maw: Increased the maw trapping duration from 4 seconds to 6 seconds. Damage increased by 20%.

Lastly the elite specialization traits needed a little more love to really drive the defining components of the Dragonhunter.

  • Piercing Light: Added a 20% recharge reduction to Traps.
  • Soaring Devastation: Increased the duration of the immobilize from 1.5s to 3s.
  • Hunter’s Determination: Increased the duration of stability gained from 4s to 6s.
  • Dulled Senses: Added that when you apply cripple you also apply 3 stacks of vulnerability for 5 seconds.
  • Heavy Light: Increased the internal cooldown from 7 seconds to 10 seconds. Increased the knockback distance from 120 to 240.

We’ll be keeping a watchful eye for your impressions and constructive feedback from the Beta Weekend!

Ok, I’m going to try to gather information about issues that seem to have started over the last few days. I am noting player reports of log-in issues and others describing disconnects. I’ve received two emails this weekend about disconnect issues directly related to EU servers and one about problems accessing our wiki.

And yes, I’m noting that some disconnects, including the two I’ve experienced, are in North America. So as you can imagine, there are a lot of questions and it would be very helpful to be able to share your details with the server and network teams.

If you are reporting issues in this or other threads, please share your location and some details: can’t log-in, getting disconnected, etc., so that we can see how this sorts out.

Have any of you submitted an in-game report on this? Or a Customer Support ticket? It’s far more likely that this will be escalated through those means than through the resurrection of this old forum thread.

On the other hand, I understand the situation: You believe that a recent build did something to cause audio problems. I can let the QA leads know about it, but without more details and the logs that our CS Team might request from you, it may be difficult for them to kitten. A QA rep may post here, or he/she may look for your details in the in-game logs. But thanks for letting us know!

Does Anet not allow Google Voice numbers for two factor authentication?

No, ANet does not consider that to be a “legit” phone number.

it’s not as easy for a hacker to add a phone number to the account. We require a legitimate cell phone or landline phone number, not something like Google Voice, and we verify the phone number. Hackers don’t have an unlimited supply of cell phones and landlines they can use.


Alternatively, you can use something like Google Authenticator instead.

FYI — I’ve had Google Voice numbers rejected a few times when I’ve tried to use them for various purposes. I don’t know how, but many systems recognize the nature of the number and reject it, because they desire a “real” number and not a referring number.

Don’t take it personally — it’s just the nature of how some systems work.

According to the e-mail threads I’ve been tracking, the log-in issues recently reported have been resolved. This came in about 2:00 PM Pacific time, and the report indicates that the problems were present on the EU servers.

More improvements coming with our next release. As always, I’d love to hear if anyone notices an improvement. This one should be much more significant. A lot of the improvements so far haven’t been very visible to players, but behind the scenes have really made an impact.

I’ll be shifting my focus back to this in the next couple weeks so I can hopefully get more improvements into the release after next. I’ve been trying to tackle other issues plaguing the client like out of memory crashes and frame-rate hitching in the past week.

As much as I might like to dress up in full costume in my spare time, I’m not superman. One thing at a time

I am having the same issue with GW1 as well as GW2. Cannot connect to server. Seems like its at ANets end.

I don’t think it would be appropriate at this time to draw that conclusion. If you think about it a general Internet issue would prevent login into both games. Let’s wait and see what the technical team is able to figure out before we draw any conclusions. Thanks.

Any update you can give on the Necromancer changes? You mentioned you were reviewing Axe and Scepter?

I really wanted to slip some of these changes in with the BWE feedback changes but there just wasn’t enough time. Sorry.

There was a fairly large number of general bugfixes for both existing skills and BWE bugs for the next patch that took priority. Additionally the patch ended up being bugfixes more so than balance adjustments so they would have felt a little out of place. I’m hoping to bring up axe and scepter changes again next time we have a balance patch.

Any comment on Slow and the interplay of Lost Time+Danger Time in PvE on bosses? Will enemies currently immune to CC get the debuff with a reduced/no effect to allow for the bonus crit, or are those traits irrelevant for PvE?

We have a tech solution in the works CC effects like slow, chill, cripple, etc on defiant creatures. I don’t want to say too much about it since I’m not sure when it will ship or how much it will change before then but we do want your traits to work on bosses.

I have a feeling that I’m right in what I’m assuming.

With facet of Chaos having an upkeep of -5, does this mean that if i pop this at 100 energy, my energy will remain at 100 providing i use nothing else that costs energy, and upon using something that does cost energy, due to the -5 energy upkeep of FoC, my energy will not degrade or increase?

So, this basically means 100% protection uptime providing the Revenant restricts himself to auto attack damage (which, with the sword, seems to be the way to go now anyway)

Yes, that’s currently how it’s setup. -5 upkeep puts you at not gaining or not losing energy.

Facets deactivate by running out of energy, using the active skill or invoking a new legend. Switching legends does not cancel facet of nature though, since it is not tied to legendary dragon stance.

So, if I’m reading this correctly. “Using a shield skill will increase boon duration” and it’ll increase by a flat 2 seconds?
Does this trait work like Sand Squall from the Tempest? Does it increase the boon duration on allies by a flat 2 seconds/ How does if judge who’s effected? (Like Skill 5)

Yes it increases it by a flat 2 second by allies in the radius, not the radius of the skill.

Illusionary Reversion: Updated functionality. You must shatter at least 2 illusions in order to generate a clone from this trait. (You do not count as an illusion towards this total.)

  • Yeah I know this one probably stings but when we started looking at it it was pretty silly that this trait could let you get so much power out of just using all shatter skills back to back.

Wouldn’t it be more plausible to set an ICD of lets say 5 secs to prevent chain shattering? I also thought, this trait was intended to eliminate the need for DE.

ICD is another option I think. If it proves too weak in the next BWE we can look at trying this or some other solution.

Any ele changes for next BWE?

  • Shivers of Dread – Fixed a bug which caused this trait not function while downed. Increased chill duration from 5s to 3s.

Euuhm is this a decrease or just a mistake? :P

Sorry, that’s a typo. It’s an INCREASE from 2s to 3s. Fixed now.

Herald was exactly what Revenant needed.
