Bug Fixes:

  • Fixed an issue in which World versus World maps displayed a “New Build is Available” message and redirected players to Lion’s Arch at the wrong time.
  • Frost Spirit: Removed the internal cooldown from this spirit’s passive effect.
  • Removed messages about world association for WvW Fall Tournament 2014. Players earn rewards based on their home world’s tournament results, not by their participation with another world. If you earn an achievement, remember to collect your rewards by visiting the Battle Historian after each round!
  • Fixed a bug that increased the time needed to progress from level 20 to level 30.
  • Fixed a server crash and various client crashes.

What is the reason for that mechanic?

The purpose of this mechanic has always been to mitigate spawn camping, kill trading, and as an added benefit, it also discourages botting.

The threshold of time before a player is worth WXP (and now also XP/Loot) has not changed, and is low enough that it is almost always the case that a player’s death will award WXP and loot in the time it takes for them to run from a portal keep to a nearby objective.

It has been the case for a while now that players who very recently respawned are not worth any WXP. To bring other systems in-line with this, players who are not worth any WXP are now also not worth any loot or XP. We are aware that this also affects sigil stacks, and are evaluating whether we want to treat the stacks the same way: only when a player is worth WXP/XP and loot, can stacks be gained from killing them.

The show/hide option gets always unchecked automatically in HotM, no way to make any mini visible..

The check/uncheck is tied to the auto-deploy not working. I believe you can recheck the button once you’re in the lobby. (don’t have live open right now)

Hi everyone!
I just purchased GW2 today and i’m currently waiting on the DL to finish. I’m quite new to GW so i don’t know a whole lot about what’s going on.
I was just wondering if anyone has any insight on which server(s) are most populated/best.

Thanks!

Hi grrizzant,

First, welcome to Guild Wars 2. As said above, the choice of your world (which is the name we use for what players sometimes call “servers”) will mainly be important if you’re going to play World vs. World. In the “main world” you’ll be grouped with other players in what’s called a “megaserver”, so that a lot of players on the same map can play together. You can learn more about this in this article: https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/introducing-the-megaserver-system/

Have fun in Tyria!

Hi Talon,

Some of us have been facing noticable stuttering/spiking FPS issues since the Sept Feature patch. We have submitted tickets and Customer Support has said they are investigating but no news as yet. Wonder if you could help us clear things up on where the problem lies and what is the progress? Thanks.

We are aware of this particular issue and we’re looking into it. We do not have an ETA on a fix at the moment.

As mentioned here, I should file a ticket if I feel the amount of commander refunds I was issued was incorrect. I am being told I only had 8 commanders when I know for a fact that I had nine. I had one for each class and a second mesmer. The toon names are:

Sawnec – Asura Mesmer
Sawneck – Charr Ranger
Sawnek – Charr Engineer
Sawnech – Charr Elementalist
Sawnick – Asura Guardian
Sawnich – Asura Warrior
Sawnec Es Un Gato – Charr Mesmer
Sonnych – Sylvari Necro
Sawnic – Charr Thief

I only was refunded for five of my commanders, when I was supposed to be refunded for six.

It’s ticket number 882758 by the way

I see that your ticket was escalated for a senior member to review. One of these agents will review the situation and get back to you as soon as they are able.

And just out of curiosity, what happens if they also tell me I only had 8? I’m not the only person with this problem, either, which is slightly troubling.

An issue has been identified with the refund distribution for Commander Compendiums. I will keep an updated status on the progress relating to this issue on the first post of this thread.

Overwolf runs separately from Guild Wars 2 and allows you to display overlays in-game. Apps created for Overwolf use the Guild Wars 2 official APIs, similar to other apps created by community members outside of Overwolf. And as Raif explained, there are further functionalities created by the app developers themselves that also do not impact the game client itself.

We are partnering with Overwolf on a few contests that they are hosting. You may have seen this information posted on our official channels:

We’ll also have another blog post on the official website going live this week that outlines the Streaming Contest and the WvW “War Reporter” contest with Overwolf.

Hope this clarifies things.

Thanks!

/v2/commerce/listings returns literal “null” strings when a bulk request specifies non-existent or account-bound item identifiers.

https://api.guildwars2.com/v2/commerce/listings?ids=-2,-3,6,24

You might have to refresh the page a couple of times to see it.

I tried two different serialization engines, and both fail to correctly recognize these values as null.

We’re taking a look at this and have a plan for how to fix. That’s a fun one, good catch!

Order of ids returned, v2/commerce/listings

in API Development

Posted by: Pat Cavit.9234

Previous

Pat Cavit.9234

Next

My best guess is that listings are (lazily) loaded in parallel, so the order would be undefined. For practical purposes, that means that the list goes from listings with few offers to listings with lots of offers.

No idea if that’s how it really works.

Yup, we make a bunch of async requests for the data and simply assemble it in the order it returns.

Now, as for object-vs-array:

Shoving results onto the end of an array as we get them back is easy and lets you do nice things like check the length of the array to see how many items you got back. It also means you can use useful array functionality like (JS examples) .some(), .every(), .reduce(), etc w/o first having to jump through a bunch of hoops.

Constant-time lookups of a specific data ID doesn’t feel like a worthwhile trade-off for an API that is generally intended to provide bulk data, and if you did want that you could ask the API for data for the specific ID you cared about.

I’m open to sorting by ID once we have all the data back if you’d find it useful, I don’t think it would help programmatic usage much but does make the data nicer to look at.

The Commerce APIs are now live!

/v2/commerce/prices is what we show in search results on the TP and totally usable for places where absolutely up-to-the-minute data isn’t necessary.

/v2/commerce/listings is closer to being live data, but is also more expensive for us to retrieve. It may end up getting a longer cache time on it to avoid problems on the backend.

Hi,

Since the new feature patch the guild vault in Fields of Ruin has disappeared. It seems the “Summon Guild Vault” item [&AgEYmwAA] has also been removed from the commendation merchant and is no longer purchasable.

Myself, many others in my guild and the map have been wondering what happened to these things. At first we thought it was a bug, so we waited for the hotfixes, but nothing further happened. Hopefully someone can clear this up?

Thanks.

The NPC Lorro in the Fields of Ruin that was once a Guild Banker is now a Black Lion Trading Post NPC. The old BLTP NPC Oscar has been removed. This, as well as the removal of the Summon Guild Vault item, appear to be an intentional decision. As this would have been done by developers, I would recommend either joining in or creating a thread related to the topics to voice any concerns you may have. Developers check the forums daily.

There isn’t a new thread about it, and since it’s been mentioned here with GM Talon response, i’ll repeat the concerns myself of another player that has posted here.

My plan was to get mini achievement after patch easely cause megaserver would merge the guild bank of my friend who had all mini’s. So then he would put them in guild bank, i activate them, and boom achievement done (like all 22k+ achievement hunters did). But that is not possible. First of all banking them became impossible (you must bind them wich means one mini can no longer create multiple persons achievements. But worst of all the old ones cannot be improved anymore. This is a little bit unfair, cause we didn’t get a warning about it. I also think it’s a bug, cause why make same achievment, same title twice? You only need it once. This seems like an oversight, something that in the chaos of the feature patch didn’t get fixed in time.

I don’t need a fast fix, however, I would like for Anet, when hotfixes and other stuff stops taking their time, to fix this situation. The best imo would be to remove the old ap’s and just use the new ones. Or you can keep the old ones, but make it possible to progress them also by account binding mini’s. Keeping the old ones, but locking them away is to unfair to achievement hunters who didn’t have the possibility to ‘borrow’ mini’s.

This is feedback regarding changes made to the game with the 9/9 Feature Build. Please create/join in on a thread related to the subject to discuss your concerns and ideas.

I’d love to discuss this. How would you all expect a better recruiting system to work? This is a pretty rudimentary version. What other options are there? A guild recruiting board? I think one of the largest issues facing any guild or player looking for a guild is finding a guild that you want to join or finding members that you want to retain.

How do other social groups match people together? How do you meet like-minded people in real life. Some examples include:

  • Clubs with special interests.
  • Hangout areas that are themed

There are many steps here
1) Interacting with those people in a social setting
2) Remembering the contact info of the people you interact with.
3) Reasons to continue to interact
4) Eventually forming a formal social group.

There are probably steps in between as well but it would be good to brainstorm ways that GW2 can bridge these steps and what other steps there might be.

Jon

I do think a basic recruitment board with the sorting functions and description of your guild would be a good start even without any prior social interaction. My playgroup usually recruits new people through dungeons/fractals. If they’re interesting or prove to be really skilled in dungeon runs we invite them, however that’s a very time consuming method of acquiring new members.

If you’re the likes of a WvW guild or a PvE event guild (Teq, TT) you just need bodies and awareness which is where a guild board would really shine. For more niche groups like say a role-player guild or the 70 year old + guild which I know exist but don’t know how to contact. The guild board provides the means to locate them without having to hope you randomly run into them or search outside of the game.

When I was in college I went to the Clubs and Societies day, browsed all the clubs and then joined the ones I had already planned on doing so along with two that were on impulse from seeing they existed. I did’nt have any real social interaction with them prior to joining. Based on that, an impractical but fun twist could be a weekly guild fair held in the cities where guilds can set up little stands to recruit, it would provide an opportunity for social interaction, allow guilds to show off their active members and create a social event in itself.

In your college examples do you remember which groups were successful in recruiting you and why? Do you remember which groups you had the most fun with and why? Which ones did you attend more often? What did they do to keep your attention? Was it the content of the group? The people in the group?

3 questions based on 9/9 patch

1: Why did the base stats increased by 10 stats?
From 916 to 926 (PVP amulets are also increased due to this)

2: Why did the precision formula changed with this also?
Old formula for precision to crit chance =(Precision – 822) / 21
New formula for precision to crit chance =(Precision – 832) / 21

3: Why did you changed the +% dmg below 50% health on Arcing Slice on the last moment? (intended? )

These are design decisions that were made by the developers. Customer Support did not make these changes to the game, thus we are unable to answer these type of inquiries. If you have concerns regarding the subject, I would recommend creating/joining in on a thread related to the topic to share your ideas. The developers check the forums daily.

Hi all,

Minis that were not guaranteed, such as minis obtained from the Minis 3-Pack (Set 1, Set 2, Set 3), are not eligible for a refund.

Could you explain why this is so? These seems contrary to EU 2012 code of rights that states:
“Consumers can request repair or replacement free of charge if goods they receive are faulty or do not correspond to what they have ordered. The trader has to repair or replace the good within a reasonable time and with limited inconvenience to the consumer. If the trader fails to repair or replace the good within a reasonable time, consumers may instead ask for a refund or a price reduction.”

In this case it is not the players fault that there is a random element to what we get in packs-that is simply a byproduct of the service provided. Its up to the company , in this case Anet to have a system in place to recover the goods. This is not the problem of the customer.
I will investigate this matter further myself with the proper consumer ombudsman office but I do believe that you are wrong in this.

Individual concerns with a product and the legality surrounding it should be directed to the Support Team with a ticket where a senior member can better address your concerns. You can submit a ticket using the following link: https://help.guildwars2.com/anonymous_requests/new . Please select In-Game Issue for your inquiry type.

@Talon, Is the reduced experience in EoTM intended? There have been a few threads about it but never any answer. For level 29 everyone seems to get 50-80 experience for the events.

That sounds like a bug to me. Please report it using the in-game bug report system or create/join in on a thread related to the topic in the Game Bugs forum.

I just can not even see any of my bound or unbound miniatures for one second in any high scale map due to excessive amount of players, do you aware of this problem?

This is a feature that is working as intended. If you have feedback regarding the feature, I would recommend creating or joining in a thread to discuss your thoughts about it.

What is the procedure to requesting refunds on the Gems spend purchasing mini’s? This is a core functionality change from what was purchased. Having spent over $1000 USD in the gem store since launch, I do not find having this type of function change acceptable.

I have posted the policy (including eligibility) for miniature refunds on the FAQ on my first post. You can find that here: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Customer-Support-9-9-Feature-Build/first#post4380306

That policy is unacceptable. I just looked up all my purchases in the GW2 Gem Store, and the total for two years is $2964.30 USD. If it is ANet’s policy to allow core functionality changes to items that are purchases from the Gem store in this manner, then I can see my purchasing habits to drop to $0. And I am sure that I am not the only one that is extremely upset over this caviler attitude towards the customers that continue to enjoy and fund this game.

I have opened a support ticket over this also, and the first reply did not even touch the subject that I brought up in my ticket, rather they cut/pasted all the changes, and how to put the minis in the wardrobe. That is completely insulting as well.

A recent update addressed the issue where minis were being excessively hidden in areas with higher population. If you still wish to discuss the matter further, please do so in the ticket that you have opened.

I agree and that’s why i want us to get to the point where we can have a clear and focused discussion on ‘as intended design’ where we aren’t tripping over unintended issues. I feel that is the most valuable way to move forward.

I understand, but I believe that same discussion could be had by just explaining which were which. Actually fixing it in game won’t immediately shift the discussion, because it’d take a while for players to experience those changes personally and the amount of them that each player experienced would vary. It’d be more useful to the discussion to just say, in plain English, “we intended for [features X, Y, and Z] to be level gated, but [features A, B, and C] are currently level gated and that’s a bug which we’ll fix.” The continued vague party line of “some of the changes are intended and some of them are not" is really not terribly informative when you never say which are which.

Waiting “until it’s done” doesn’t really help the discussion, what’s important is the information, and the information can exist before it’s ready to go live in the game. That’s really been the player’s point in this whole thread. I appreciate that you’re trying, but until you work your way past this stumbling block there’s almost no point to it.

It is going to be much more efficient to have a discussion once the live environment is as designed. Much more efficient.

It will allow for less assumptions and conjecture in discussions and allow us to enter into valuable discussion with way less distraction and more focus.

Thanks for your reply. I was just talking about the design dev process primarily. We do have a QA team that tests the work and an Alpha group for feedback.

The process i described above is definitely not about speed (-: It is a quality iteration process as well as a best working practice that allows us to learn and improve the quality of the experience as we go along.

I will ask Ed Hocking our QA director to comment about the QA process and Gavian (our production director) to talk about production practices on Monday.

Once we have the feature ‘as designed’ i would love to chat about the design side of the release regarding NPE.

Phys is right. Whatever role your internal QA teams play in negotiating new feature changes, it can’t be enough given how many features go live that the players would never let you get away with. I mean, clearly the internal teams approved the April Trait changes and the Fall leveling changes, where if you’d asked the community about these “features” we’d have shot them down in a heartbeat and saved you who knows how many man-hours in implementing and subsequently un-implementing them.

I know that the NGE isn’t working “as intended” yet, and some of the community complaints are related to that, but many of them seem to be related to a genuine disagreement on intended elements, and since nobody from ANet is willing to give a breakdown as to which changes are bugs and which are “features,” we’re left treading water for now.

Hi Ohoni,

Still watching the game and then i am doing WvW after so sorry about the sporadic replies everyone else.

I wanted to comment on this :

The biggest QoL feature that I can think of, that ‘only’ a Guild Hall could provide is as a Megaserver Transportation system.

If only guild members (or invitees perhaps) can access the hall, then it would be an easy place to gather a large group together and be sure to all be on the same map. There could be an NPC that each player speaks to, and by speaking to them, megaserver system is able to get an exact count of the number of players wanting to travel together to a particular zone, BEFORE they try to travel.

Rather than each player loading a zone independently, and the system using predictive logic to try and group people together, it would know exactly how many spaces it needs to have on whichever map the collective attempts to load.

While obviously cool there are some details that would be required to start talking about this.

  • How big of a group would be required to create one of these zones?
  • Could you join half empty zones or would you always want them guild exclusive?
  • Would zones created for your guild stay exclusive to your guild?
  • etc.

I’d love to see your thoughts on the details of this proposal to talk through some of the issues and see if it is in fact realistic, knowing that obviously you don’t know how the server infrastructure for megaservers works but I’ll try and be here to guide you.

Proposal Overview
Being able to send a recruit message in map chat but only show it to people on the same server however possible over multiple map instances.

Goal of Proposal
Better recruiting members for your guild.

Guilds are still very much server based because of WvW. Thats fine but because the PvE would is not so much server based anymore recruiting members for your guild has become extremely hard after the mega-server patch. (only option would be recruiting in WvW but for a PvX guild thats no option because they also want PvE players)

Proposal Functionality
An option to chat with your server basically. So map-server chat. That lets you chat with your server but over multiple instances of the same map.

Associated Risks
Not sure there are any risk.

Since I started it let me list my top QOL improvements from guild halls.

1) Some way for the entire guild to physically gather in a location.
2) A more physical representation of guild upgrades allowing the upgrades themselves to take on forms that are more physical as well.
3) A place where you can do in game activities in a space controlled by your guild (technically custom arenas offer this for PvP already but the only activity you can do in them is conquest PvP.)

Hi,

First I want to say that I’m actually very impressed to have a thread where the devs are really answering without chosing one question out of a hundred, even taking some time off their sunday to do so, and I truly truly hope those threads are to be repeated in the future. You have built a playerbase that really care for the game as even through hate posts, even while they’re staying away for a while, players still look after the game, hoping it will grow more and in the right direction, because they care for it and know that it has a very particular potential. As such, I think listening to the fans is the best thing you can do and would make you a right sight better than the other studios.

Anyways, apologies if the exact same questions have already been answered, in which case feel free not to reply to the concerned questions ; I looked up what I could in the previous page, but it takes a lot of time and the forum search engine is kind of broken. So my questions are :

First, I’m a SAB lover, as many others. It has been pointed to me in other threads that future of SAB was unsure. The point was that it was not fitting the living story, which is not a valid point in my opinion as it could very well be bringed back as a festival or during a festival, or at any point really, people won’t care if it’s not well wrapped in a nice story, they just want to play it. ArenaNet’s hestiation about the subject makes me think World 3 is not a project for the foreseeable future ; is it true ?
Considering it does not, in any way, recquire multiple people to play it at the same time, would it appear to be doable to release it permanently, whether in Rata-Sum whether as an item (personnal instance, inventory, etc. doesn’t matter much) with the currently created worlds (1 & 2 for now and the other later on) and modes ? While disabling the rewards if that’s an issue (or maybe still allow players to gain token in tribulation mode given how hard and long it is especially for world 2 and it can only be used for soulbound stuff as far as I recall, something along the lines), just so players could play it for their own fun atleast?
And last but not least… can you tell us with more certitude than it has been done before what’s planned for SAB ? Even just the big lines. What I’d like to know, basically, is what’s gonna happen with SAB, if you guys plan on bringing it back every X months, during festivals or for it’s own festivals, or whatever I didn’t think of right now and more specifically where’s world 3 at (not started, finished, dead…) and what do you think about releasing it as proposed before a.k.a. as kitten…ble item in Rata-Sum or personnal instance, with only tribulation mode giving tokens for items that are only soulbound and can’t ever be traded for money, and are earned through time and hardship ? (which is just a proposition of course, you can adapt it in may other ways but that one would be, I think, the most satisfactoy and the least annoying to the economic market as there would be no prices drop).

I might also point out that the SAB skins were really, really earned, the few ones you could loot through RNG in normal mode set aside. Especially for world two which should honestly have been splitted in multiple parts for each level given how time consumming that one was (and how one dc due to wifi and whatever else would make you lose all the time invested). Having the time to unlock them properly wouldn’t be a shame, honestly, you can’t collect them just like that, it takes an investment, which is why I think that it would be much more healthy to do something along the lines of what I proposed rather than only release it for a few weeks every year, making it impossible to get all the skins you like, let alone all the skins, especially with more and more worlds. Once more, you can bring it back without having to include it in the LS, people just want to play their favorite (mini)game, they don’t mind it not having anything to do with slaying a dragon, just like they like the other festivals when they’re not included in the LS.

Also, could you explain more precisely what you think is a problem in NPE ?

Thank you for taking the time to read this, and thank you even more if you can actually answer some of those questions. I apologize for any mistakes I made as english isn’t my native language.

Have a nice day,

Edit : language filter didn’t appreciate us…ble.

Edit 2 : Oh, also, I feel a bit silly asking a question you’ve probable seen a hundred time, but… it was said early on, before the game was released I believe, that there will be new weapons coming out over time. Is it still a thing or has it been abandonned?, asks the cute kitty from my signature (a.k.a. me).

Hey Kitten,

I will reply shortly if that’s ok.
