The HTTP API can’t get any live information — everything served from api.guildwars2.com is up to 5-minutes out-of-date. There is a mumble link API available which provides some very basic information. Not planning on adding any additional fields to the mumble link API, so what’s there is all we’ll likely ever expose. That’s about as close as we can get with regards to official support, I’m afraid
Ahh, actually… this forum software was built for us by a company called Fangamer, back in 2012. It was customized for us, of course, and contains may singular features. However, the core was built on software that their company created and that one of our developers spotted in searching for a system for us to use.
Of course, our working with a smaller company did have its drawbacks, one of them the fact that we’re not able to make improvements to our current forums, for a variety of reasons including the code used to create it, the fact they no longer have team members working on forums, etc. Features that we’d like to have — even basics like a working search engine — are outside our reach. On the other hand, some features on this system are superior to systems used on other forums on which I’ve worked, so it’s sort of a “win some / lose some” situation.

The API provides a list of all endpoints. I’ll add that to the github stuff now; that particular endpoint was implemented before the feature was announced and I totally forgot to actually write documentation for it.
The next time you see this bug could you please try swapping maps or logging out and back in again to see how this affects the bug? The rarity of this bug leads me to believe that this is your connection to the server that is storing the data used for rendering onto the map and so restarting that connection may fix the bug.
Please reply with or message me the results as that would help a whole lot with investigating this further.

Wow, the last one is great! Looks like a creator-god or mighty angelic related to the human deities of Tyria. What did you imagine when painting it?

I agree, Benjamin! I wondered the same — that image is great. Stained glass, wings, noble expression, gleaming weapon…

The forum software for these forums is proprietary and maintained in-house. AFAIK it is totally bespoke and isn’t based off an existing forum software.
Other than the world bosses which are on a set schedule, there hasn’t been a way to get the event statuses from the API since megaservers were launched (since there’s no way to tell which instance you’re on, and they all have separate state).
You might be able to find the specific app you’re taking about in the list on the wiki or in the Overwolf catalog.
Hey guys,
We have a lot of tools that we use in the development of the game, but not all of them are available or supportable in the live game. Adding tools to the game that would require continual updating and maintenance would not be the best focus for the team. So while we’re aware that some players would like to see an official DPS meter — and clearly the community is divided on this topic — you should be aware that the team does not intend to add one to the game.

Hold on people … don’t get too excited over what Bobby said there. It was a little vague but you can see a big diversion from anything raid-like in that statement.
They are investigating DIFFERENT METHODS to make the story more ACCESSIBLE. That tells me it’s not raid, as we know it in GW2.
Yeah, people should hold their panic and speculation. I haven’t said anything other than we’re looking at ways to make the story accessible. That could take any number of forms.

As always, please keep in mind that we select art from any period in time on the forums or Tumblr, not just recent weeks. For the Wintersday show, I found some great art from 2014 and maybe even earlier! So never hesitate to share things, even if they are “off season.”
For instance, some of the art for next year’s Halloween show will be chosen from this year’s shared art; many of the Wintersday pieces that are submitted this December will be used next year, especially since the holidays prompt us to select art very early in the month.
If you share here, great! Sharing on the forums means you have given us permission to feature the art. If you’re sharing on Tumblr, please always use the hashtag “#GW2 Fan Submission” to ensure we can showcase your art!

First off, I want to say thanks for posting your feedback and kind words. Both mean a lot to us.
We’re investigating different methods to make the story more accessible. I can’t share any details at this time, but wanted to let you know we’re exploring a few potential options internally. As with everything in development, this isn’t a guarantee. I want to set expectations accordingly.
This is great! Be forewarned, though: You might want to start with your headphones on low.

This topic was started two and a half years ago and the changes involved were explained at the time, refunds were given, facilitation of the change process was implemented, and so forth. While I appreciate the opinions expressed, rehashing old topics with the hopes of having the development team take significant steps backwards simply is not reasonable.

- Fixed a bug that allowed players to purchase more than three eggshells from the task region vendor.
- Fixed a bug that allowed players to be trapped behind closing gates after looting reward chests.

Bug Fixes:
- Fixed a server crash.
- Removed loot from the Ancient Jotun to prevent an exploit.
- The Mushroom Fertilizer bundle item will expire after one minute to avoid spam.
- Achievements can now be gained by all players in Episode 3 instances.
- Achievements in Episode 3 instances now have helpful tracking effects.
Ok, I have a suggestion. While the team is investigating the fix for this, you should do the following: After you have completed the story, if you wish to resume the achievements, be sure to select “Continue this chapter” and not “Restart this episode.” If you do the latter, there is a high probability the Grawl Firestone will not be displayed in the vendor window. But if you continue, you should be able to acquire it.
Hope this helps!

Hello,
We received a couple of tickets from Guild Wars 2 account holders asking about a survey e-mail they received. It’s great that they checked with us, and we admire their attention to security!
Yes, ArenaNet is conducting a survey this week. We’ve partnered with C+R Research, and they are e-mailing the survey on our behalf to a modest number of players. Because the number if small, the chances are that you will not receive the e-mail with the survey. However, we wanted to post about it in case you did or do receive such a mail, so you would know it’s a legitimate process.
One note: As always, we recommend (and in fact the e-mail suggests) that you copy and paste a URL into your browser, rather than clicking an embedded link in an e-mail. Sometimes fraudulent people and organizations display a “link” but in fact what you see is not where you go. By copying and pasting, you know exactly where you are heading on the ’Net.

Bug Fix:
- Fixed a server crash.
Hey there,
The devs are working on a hotfix that should roll out today. You certainly can contact Customer Support if you find that something is missing, but we’ve found that nearly all accounts return to their proper status — items, achievements, etc., restored — by waiting for a little while after a crash or disconnect. If you find after a few hours that you still are missing something, do submit a ticket.
In the meantime, we hope to reduce the issues today.

We’ve tracked down a couple server crashes and if everything goes properly they should be resolved with a hotfix later today.
We’ve temporarily disabled the NPC Koollan the Little Builder to fix a server crash. We’ll update this thread when the problem has been fixed and the NPC has been re-enabled.
This NPC has been re-enabled. Thank you for your patience.

Hey all,
CSL for Nornvember.. I mean November will air next Wednesday, November 30 at Noon Pacific.
The December Wintersday Extravaganza will air on Wednesday, December 14. We will be recording a week earlier, and pulling final art assets on Thursday, December 1. (This is super early, but production turnaround time requires it.) If you are working on a Wintersday art project, please submit any time. If we don’t use it this year, we may well incorporate it into next year’s show!
I’m looking forward to seeing you in the Twitch room, if you can join us, or hope that you’ll catch the show later on YouTube!

I don’t have any issue with the AMA’s being on Reddit. I do have one concern based on the summary, however:
Please speak to the dev who said “Thanks for the suggestion on having more hair accessory dye colors available, we’ll have some internal conversations on this.” And perhaps give them a pile of links to the legions of requests on this very point that have been in these forums since the early days. Because if the forums are so beloved, and there have even been community reps collating and forwarding forums concerns, no freaking way should this have come as a surprising new idea.
Not that I’m complaining that it’s finally getting attention. It’ll be awesome if a full range of accessory dyes become available, preferably freely dyeable without recourse to hair kits. The issue is simply that such an oft-repeated request apparently wasn’t even noticed. I did not read the whole conversation, and maybe the dev just wrote his/her reply poorly to make it sound like they’d never heard of the idea before, but that line was a serious facepalm for me.
The team has changed, as has the leader of the team. It would be an error to assume that this was seen and ignored, or, even worse, not seen at all. It was seen, reported, and discussed. I remember asking about the subject a long while ago (after players asked me about it through a few media) and I was told it was not possible to separate the hair accessory. But Sarah said she’ll look into it. She may even have learned that it is possible to separate hair and accessary, and that’s an encouraging thing.

Guys, the placement of our Celebrations is not a negative reflection on our official forums. However, the conversations on Reddit are offered in a “threaded” or “nested” style, where our forum provides a “flat” conversation threading. We prefer the flat conversation formatting for most purposes, but the celebrations or AMAs are most easily followed in a threaded format, and we choose Reddit for those. (Reddit admins support the choice and provide us with very helpful moderation of those threads.)
If you’re interested in formats, you can find a good article explaining the differences here. An interesting editorial opinion can be found here.
We love our forums, and do our best to ensure that important information is provided right here, on our own website, in our own forums. That means that usually an initial comment, update, alert, etc., is made here. In a few cases, if someone on the team shares info in a conversation elsewhere that appears to have broad value, they’ll let us know and we’ll port it over here. (Of course, often, an observant official forum member will do that more quickly than we can, and we do appreciate that help! )
So yes, while we may participate on Reddit and on other forums, we put our focus on the official forums for information reveals, update notes, polls, emergency notifications of issues, outage info, and so forth.

Over time, the WvW Sub-forum has seen a growing number of posts about game worlds, or servers. No matter how well-intentioned the posts may start out, two kinds of threads soon sink into negativity and unconstructive commentary:
- Requests to re-open a particular server
- Requests to adjust the Glicko ratings for a specific server
To increase the value of these forums for players and devs alike, and to keep the conversations constructive, we’re going to disallow these two kinds of threads and posts. We ask for your cooperation in not creating or contributing to threads or posts on these subjects in the future. Thanks very much.

Please Note: This gifting project is not only about Gem Store items. The spirit of this initiative should be broad. It’s entirely fine to post a request for help with, say, components for a Legendary, mats towards a holiday item or an achievement, assistance with a jumping puzzle, fractal, or dungeon, all sorts of things.
Asking for items from within the game — not those that require gems — is great. After all, the intention of this thread is for players to help players., and many more players can get involved when the requests are for things that are reasonable and more easily shared.
So please, as you consider your request and keep in mind that a request for an item that costs thousands of gold is less likely to be fulfilled and creates a high barrier for people to get involved.
Thanks for understanding and thinking about the spirit of the thread in all your requests and request fulfillments.
