How do you feel about the Great Lord Flame Ram?
Woe befall all who earn its wrath. And great favor to all who show obeisance before the GLFR.
Similarly, why do vital logistical tasks such as upgrading, repairing, and escorting dolyaks go unrewarded?
We are in the process of evaluating the way the system is rewarding points right now and determining what we can do to make it more rewarding for players that aren’t just killing other players or capturing objectives. I’m an inveterate upgrader and repairer, so believe me when I say I’m with you on that one.
They you Habib for your months of hard work, and congratulations on achieving your long term goals within WvW. I hope you find as much success on your next project.
It’s good to see that ArenaNet has changed WvW lead from a programmer to a content designer, as it shows they’re finally comfortable with performance and are now ready to expand and refine the game mode. I look forward to seeing what Devon came come up with
I look forward to coming up with things too! Hopefully good ones even!
In the WvWvW category: The owner of all created siege equipment. Since you already track the creator, show it to the world. (Related note: show the guild name on claimed strongpoints.)
Thanks
Improvements to guild claiming are something I expect us to look very strongly into. What that will mean in terms of final product I couldn’t say, but I can say for certain that we want guilds to have even more to show for claiming an objective.
Hey Devon, welcome, can we have a little forum AMA?
Lets start with something simple:
What color is the shirt you are currently wearing?
Are quaggans adorable or are they adorable?
What is you /deaths on your primary or most played character?
Have you taken part in a quaggan drinking game?
If you had a choice between a strawberry or mint shake, which would you pick?
Red arenanet soccer jersey.
I’ll take the chicken then.
156, which seems low to me, but what do I know?
Can’t say that I have.
Strawberry. Definitely strawberry.

1. Please allow us to disable the really annoying titles below people’s names.
2. Please give me permanent invulnerability in all WvW maps. But just me, nobody else. Thanks!
1. Our goal is to make the WvW gameplay experience as good as it can be. To that end we are always taking feedback about changes and deciding how best to turn that into action.
2. I just checked in a change to give this to you. But it won’t activate until you run into the next group of 5+ enemies you see and /dance. If it doesn’t work the first time you do that, it’s probably because the group wasn’t large enough, so try with another group until you are invulnerable.
Quick. What is your personal vision for WvW? And what appeals most to you about gameplay like WvW?
My personal vision… it’s hard to say. I find that the thing about WvW that gets me excited to play it every time is that the challenge is different each time. I’d like for us to continue to add new ways to play WvW and new wrinkles that make it what it should be. That means we will continue to add new abilities and expand the existing ones. It means we’ll continue to work towards quality of life improvements like removing culling and the nameplate visibility. To be honest, while WvW is an amazing game type, there is always something I think we can improve and I hope to keep up the work towards the goal of making GW2 WvW the most amazing MMO experience around.
I’m already feeling the Wuv. I’ll try and reply to some individual questions, but I’m not going to respond to all of them.
No changes were made to the wurm during this last update that I know of.
But there will be an update in the future.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/events/Giant-Jungle-Worm/1727965
Update: I’ve made a change so the wurm can no longer be killed before the event starts, and increased the max scale of the event so it should be slightly less zergable. It’s in QA’s hands right now for testing, and should be in a future update.

Which server? Can you double-click on her to bring up her conversation?
As this question has been answered, this thread will now be closed.
Changed thread title by popular demand.
As with any change we are aware of the concerns about titles, nameplates, and screen clutter and we are investigating what we can do about all of these things to try and improve the experience now that you can see so many people on screen.

Hey there Wuvers,
It’s my pleasure to introduce to you Devon Carver, the new coordinator of the WvW team. Devon is an excellent designer and is passionate about WvW so I know that both the team and WvW are in good hands. As I step away to focus on other projects you’ll be seeing more of Devon here in the WvW forums so please give him a warm WvW welcome!
I’ll see you on the battlefield!

Cool, I was also going to suggest double clicking on the device. There seems to be a bug with the Interact prompt not appearing in all cases, but double-clicking the item will interact with it.
We are working on getting an FAQ about some of the confusion of the abilities. It should be out soon.
I don’t think a 2 teams match is a “tournament”. The minimum is 4 teams, elimination (2 matches) and a 3rd match with winners. Cross server, by the way, and ranked.
Agreed, we’ll eventually rebrand these as Rated Matches, rather than 2-Team Tournaments. It’s just something that requires changing text in a number of different areas, and a new build. So for now we are still calling them tournaments.
Sorry I can’t respond to everyone, but I’ll try to hit some other issues you’ve brought up:
-Words aren’t enough: Agreed. In the coming patches we have plans to give the Warrior: more resistance to movement hindering condies, the ability to punish boons, and we want to improve some of their specs that are out-shined by 100 b’s.
-Responding overall: We read a ton of things on the forums, but as you can imagine, we can’t respond to them all. When time allows, like today, I try to get on the forums as much as I can with actual responses – not just reading.
-Banners: We’re playing with some other ideas on how to make them stronger/a unique play style, while also trying to make sure they don’t “step on the toes” of similar abilities for other classes, like Ranger spirits.
-“Soon” vs. actual ETA’s: This is a fine point, but the reason I don’t give actual dates is because things can sometimes slip past those dates. When this happens, players can feel like we were lying or we didn’t fulfill a “promise”. I know it sucks, but it’s just safer for us not to use dates or ETA’s until we’re REALLY close to a feature or change being ready.
Gonna go hit some of the other sub-forums, thanks for all the feedback guys!

I just want the free paid tournaments chests back because I still need to get armor from that chest
.
The items from the 8-Team tournament chest were added to the 2-Team tournament chests. So they should all still be obtainable.

I have been sent this “Newsletter” 3 days on the trot.
If, in your mind, this “Newsletter” is what I have to look forward to, then I’ll unsubscribe.
Oh wow, I’m SO sorry that happened. First, I think that is the flyer or newsletter that was not supposed to go to existing player, but which was sent out accidentally in a training exercise. Secondly, getting three is not at all intended!
Can you do me a huge favor? We’re not able to replicate a problem with the newsletters, where people try to unsubscribe and cannot do so. I sense that you have not tried to unsubscribe, but are simply asking why you got three. But to aid the team in testing why these weird things are happening, could you kindly PM me your location? (Just country, is fine.)
The Newsletter/Mailing List people tell me that it will really help them figure out the mail issues if they can get location info of people who are seeing odd things happen.
Thanks!

We’re going to be working on a lot of Warrior stuff in the coming patches. But will we be changing things, in the OP’s words, “in a few days”? Nope. We have to wait for patches to move through the system of developing content, refining it, iterating on it, getting it tested, and then getting pushed to live.
Warriors are very strong in PvE, and they’re struggling in PvP – we know this. Contrary to popular belief, we play our game, in all formats, and we talk to player experts in all formats. We also read the forums.
But that doesn’t mean we’re going to throw knee-jerk/reactive changes based on any piece of feedback we receive. As we’ve said NUMEROUS times, we’re doing slow tweaks so that we don’t have to do whack-a-mole balance.
Just because things don’t happen “in a few days” doesn’t mean they’re not happening!
Jon, the problem is the complaints are piling up, the issues are blatantly obvious, and not once have I ever read a single person complain about banners. And for 3 patches now, the improvements were all related to banners. Not on mobility. Not on bunker builds. Not on conditions. And not on defensive options.
And what’s funny, seeing as I play(ed) a Ranger, is you’re making all these banner changes when your time and effort really should have been spent revising ranger spirits as they’re infinitely worse than banners and yet their functional use to the class and group are almost identical to those of banners for warriors.
I’m no novice to MMO’s so I know I’m probably not being fair in my criticism, but it really does seem like nothing of substance is ever changing in the right direction for Warriors (and Rangers…).
Good points, but the reason we sometimes adjust the “unplayed” specs is to provide build diversity. Banners are one of those specs that we’re trying to adjust slowly to provide a whole new build for Warriors. This doesn’t mean we don’t care about other specs, we’re just trying to do things slowly.
And yes, Ranger spirits are in the same boat as Warrior banners. They were VERY powerful before ship, but after changes, they are on the lower end of the power curve right now. So they’ll be slowly adjusted over time to bring them back up as well.

I think the solution is very simple for helping Warriors, because their “immense strength” in PvE boils down to exactly 1 skill, Hundred Blades. The problem isn’t with enemy AI, either; the problem is in the skill.
Solutions that aren’t knee-jerk:
- Reduce Hundred Blades’ damage output by 25%
- Reduce Hundred Blades’ cooldown by 1 second
- Decrease the time Hundred Blades takes to complete by 50%
What does this do? This results in a faster burst, but of less damage. In PvE this means that your net dps when smashing your sword against the foe is reduced because the damage is reduced more than the cooldown is. In PvP this means that you can actually connect with more of your burst because it executes faster, increasing the actual damage you inflict to an immobilized or stunned opponent. For bonus points, it would also look cooler because you’d be swinging your sword faster.
Of course other things such as main hand Mace, Swords, and so on need buffs as well to bring them in-line with other weapons. The only reason that Warriors are so strong in PvE, though, is Hundred Blades, and addressing that will significantly fix up those issues on that end while simultaneously helping PvPers. It’s win-win.
Agreed!
100 blades needs to be changed, but other things need to be changed to compensate.
As I’ve said, that’ll be happening in coming patches.
“Every man takes the limits of his own field of vision for the limits of the world.”

I agree with you Sharp.
But i don’t understand why you didn’t change ALL the skills, traits, runes and sigils that give quickness. And where is the trait that gives more damage against people with boons? or something for the constants movement controll that oppres warriors? Karl talked about that in the SoTG.
I was hoping in something like: XII strenght trait: you deal 20% more damage vs targets with protection.
That stuff is coming in later patches. We want Warriors to “punish” boons, which is going to balance out the quickness hits. Same with other classes. We’re going to slowly introduce those things to balance out what we’re doing to quickness.
And overall, we want to slow the game down so that new players aren’t dying to certain specs in 2-3 seconds. So the quickness change is one step towards that.
“Every man takes the limits of his own field of vision for the limits of the world.”

Ursan is essentially correct. Players will always want their class to be stronger – but devs have to temper that with overall balance on many different levels. Sometimes a simple number fix will suffice, but sometimes there is more to it.
We see the problems and read the threads. We all play the game and experience it like you all do. Prioritizing what gets fixed, when, and how isn’t a simple task, but we are making headway.
I’m still here and lurking about (as is the balance team), gathering information to bring to meetings. For the first couple days after a patch, people are still figuring things out and getting used to changes. We didn’t kill rangers (I was doing some PvP last night, and have done a couple dungeon runs). It’s just that there’s a predictable reaction to when we change something, that we have killed classes and destroyed builds, and there’s nothing I can say or do to help in those situations. Sometimes you have to sit back and let the community sort themselves out… people depend on something (quickness) and then when that gets changed, there’s an initial period of confusion, but its always followed by “look what I can do” because people are being forced to try new things, and they do a bit of experimenting they may have not have done before.
Sure things need more attention. LB, pets, spirits.. they all need some love on our part, and they will get it. I may not be the best PvP’r out there, but I was first/second place on my team in the three games I played as a ranger (deer rank!), and I was still effective against other classes. the new quickness speed will take some getting used to, but it by no means destroyed rangers.
But me going into every thread about someone claiming bad things and giving expressions isn’t going to help (there are also a lot of those threads that I just wouldn’t be able to keep track of due to time constraints). So I sit back, watch, take notes for meetings, and try to find a good time to post to help guide the conversation.

What’s your current objective?
There’s no way for us to undo any choices that you’ve made. Which story step was it? I can at least look at the conversation icons and correct them if necessary.
Thank you for the information, everyone! We believe we’ve found the issue and are looking to implement a fix in an upcoming update.

1, Let players be seen on the map and in the team window however far away from you they are on the map.
2, Show enemy players who are visible to another of your players as a red dot on the map (most key change)
3, Put a number instead of a green dot as your players on the map. So player 1 in the team will be a green “1” and player 2 will be a green “2”
4, Add in game emotes – So people can call out that they need help or that everything is fine where they are.
1) This will be addressed when spectator mode is released.
2) This would be very helpful, though I have some reserves on its potential correctness.
3) See below.
4) We’ve certainly brought this up before, but it hasn’t gotten traction yet.
i would prefer a class icon instead of the number
We’re experimenting with this right now.
Bra (80 Guard), Fixie Bow (80 Ranger), Wcharr (80 Ele)
Xdragonshadowninjax (80 Thief)
Thanks for adding your server information, everyone! We were able to grab some information by observing the ones that were broken, so we’ll be reviewing those to figure out why it was breaking.

The missing mouse cursor issue is often caused by having mouse pointer trails enabled. Please follow these instructions to disabled the pointer trails.
1. Click on the Windows start button.
2. Select ‘Control Panel’.
3. For Windows XP: Double-click on the Mouse icon.
For Windows 7 and Vista: Click on ‘Hardware and Sound’ then select ‘Mouse’.
4. Go to the ‘Pointer Options’ tab and look for the ‘Visibility’ section.
5. In the ‘Visibility’ section, un-check the box next to ‘Display pointer trails’.
6. Click on OK.
Hope this helps!
Glad that people like these. We’ll do more in the future, perhaps.
I just worked on that event today, so I know it still exists. I did fix a bug that would occasionally cause the chain to stall out, so it’s possible that it stalled on your server.
I don’t want to reveal “what goes in the sausage” but there are several variables that affect how often some of the meta-events run. The sole change that was made to this event in this update was increasing the restart time for the event to make it comparable to other “boss” style meta events.
Try switching maps, or logging out/back in.
Take the elevator/teleporter. The story step entrance is on the other side.

The event was set to be on par with other “large” events, it’s less than 2 hours but the first event (the grawl attack) will not restart if another event in the chain is still running. So the worst case I can think of is that when the grawl attack recycled it saw that another event in the chain was running, and started the timer again.
Our 2-Team Tournaments have been growing in popularity since they were introduced, however very few players are queuing up for the 8-Team Tournament format anymore, due to that. This often means that players can queue up for hours, without an 8-Team Tournament ever kicking off. This is not a good experience, so we’ve decided to disable them. While we may bring back multi-round PvP tournaments in the future, for now we will be discontinuing the 8-Team, 3-Round Tournament format.
